So If I buy coins from Coinbase I need to register with fincen?
 Huh

I'm an individual not a company, the fine print isn't detailed enough
that is a big problem.
1142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to most coins when they reach coinmarketcap.com? on: March 13, 2014, 11:50:51 AM
Well statically speaking for arguments sake, Unless the "average" coin is promoted and announced on a forum community / social network environment, it will go overlooked for a while or altogether.

Coinmarketcap.com gives detailed analytical data and is viewed by many people looking for side by side comparison of the market trend.

Naturally if the coin shows good stats and includes the right specs, the coin will receive a push being that its now on the official radar.

Would you rather hear about a coin from an accredited source or a street peddler standing on a crate making announcements about a new fangled coin concept their pushing.
Their happens to be some legit coins up their on the coinmarketcap and a lot of clones. Coinmarketcap is most definitely an attention grabber.

Though I have no charts to prove my claims, they hold stake being an information likened to common sense.

1144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone explain in simple words mining in huntercoin map on: March 12, 2014, 06:58:18 PM

Ive been looking to get into HunterCoin for a while.

1145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: --- What's happend with Earthcoin ---- on: March 12, 2014, 12:12:01 PM
According to... Cryptolife.net
It had no huge innovation and a BlockChain reward system that seemed a bit gimmicky.
Also a 2% or more premine  today is quite common among coins with over 1 billion total coins projected over thir life cycle.
All premined coins claim their use is supposedly for promotions, giveaways, bounties.

Im by no means trying to throw salt in earthcoins direction or anything.
I'm just saying the specifications of the coin are a little questionable.
The coin was a eye catcher when I first seen it. I'm all for going green for the environment so I was hooked at first glance.
Maybe Earthcoin will rise up like the phoenix in a triumphant glory.

This thread has been very informative, I don't know jack beans about Bitcoins or altcoins but Ive learned a whole lot from this thread.
It would seem the crypto currency market has been infiltrated by numerous nefarious roosters who see this new technology as a method to bamboozle, Flem Flam, and pull the wool over
the eyes of unsuspecting speculators. After this thread I'm a little more skeptic in my coin choices.

 Shocked

Starting to get those DEJA VU vibes again...
What is so significant that separates this from Aurora (besides being of Irish based decent)?
Will stay tunned however.

 Undecided

This coin started out of the gate on the wrong foot using an old hashing method for mining.
The devs who put the coin together should have researched bitcointalk to see which methods of hash were/are most successful.
I was very hyped at launch but decided not to invest.
The market seems too volatile for the specifications of the coin.
Will continue to observe however.
1149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I will BUY 10 alt crypto currencies this week, advises? on: March 11, 2014, 06:42:11 PM
https://coinmarketcap.com
Provides a wealth of information. They have sortable filters with side-side comparisons.
Werther its short term or long term gains you seek, you should go here and view every coins website and look for the details that appeal to you the most.

Every one has different preferences when it comes to these crypto coins and their are alot of copycat coins looking to pump and dump for a quick return.
Be wary of pre-mined coins as these are usually red flags, although suspicious, not all are nefarious.  If it sounds to good to be true avoid it like the plague.
Alot of coins are in it for the long haul and will appear stagnant because the price has plateaued. ASIC, Botnet, GPU, mineable coins with outdated, vulnerable, buggy, hashing methods,
are the makings for coin hogs and scam artist who deter the market for the few legitimate miners who are in it for the community and of course for the share in wealth of coin.

Best Of Luck

Happy Buying!!!
