1141  Economy / Gambling / Re: Whats happening with Betnomi? on: September 03, 2023, 10:18:32 AM
this will be a lesson for Betnomi users to play on truly trusted platform sites, at least casinos that are active in their platform campaigns every time. sporting events for example being a partner or sponsor would be great, because it looks like casino sites like that have big money and are not scammers.
It's true, especially when there was some red flags about Betnomi in past, but in general, nobody didn't paid attention to it. They managed to hide contraversies and make good reputation by sponsoring various prediction pools, making some promotions and giveaways.

People didn`t pay attention because they benefited financially, it`s as simple as that really... I am obviously not referring to the forum "newbies" here. There were more than enough red flags, we have pointed this out multiple times already.

What`s shocking (and what could actually lead to a different discussion... Sorsis finally decided to do the exit scam and there is literally nothing any "victim" can do since we are still in the Wild West of crypto. Shit shows such as Betnomi can simply disappear with no consequences... Talk about why regulation of the space will not only come with its disadvantages...

Is it so? Guys, please tell me it can't be true. We are not in some fecking dark web, they can't just disappear taking all the users' money with them. They will be prosecuted, no?

And regarding not paying their employees for three months. Where does this info come from?

And why there's no news about their "exit scam"? It's big news, isn't it?
1142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: September 03, 2023, 09:30:23 AM
Got a question for you guys.
Does anyone one of you know someone in real life who knows as much foreign politics as you do? If so, have you considered to bet personally with people know you regarding this incoming USA elections?

In my case, there are some people I know who are pretty much into international politics and the American situation, so I have seriously toyed with the idea on betting against them on this election, besides going with casino options. It would not be as much money as I would trust a reputable casino or betting platform, though.

has anyone there considered to do the same thing with family members, friends or co workers?

A friend of a friend of mine was saying Trump would win the election and I was saying no way, Hillary would win. It was long time ago, back in the 2016. I was so confident that I accepted his bet, $100(I was a bit drunk), and was expecting to win the money. We all know what happened. Since then I'm betting only what I can afford to lose even if I "know" the outcome "for sure". And don't gamble when you are drunk, guys.
1143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: September 02, 2023, 11:50:49 AM

Well I also think that way, but I think that those rich people go to the casino just for fun by using some of the money they have, and for the winnings maybe they won't pursue it too much because the rich people already have ways to get money so that they can become rich like that. That's right, most of them (gamblers) will never have enough of whatever results they get especially winnings. Rich people who run out of a lot of money from gambling because losing always dominates but it's true that they still have a chance to live because as I said earlier that they already have their own way of increasing their finances so they are said to be rich and not rich from gambling. But the problem is for those poor people, I will say that not a few of them (poor people) go to the casino with the aim of getting a big win there and also to multiply the money they bring even though the nominal is small. Honestly, I don't really understand their thoughts, do they not think that in gambling, losing will always dominate? If they (the poor) are stuck there with many losses then it is very likely as you said, they will not have the money to live anymore.

I  understand their way of thinking. Yes, in gambling an average person is more likely to lose than win, but even being aware of that, they might think they are no "average person". They might think that gods would help them to win, or demons or whatever. Poor people are usually not educated and that's their problem. I personally think that it's okay to be superstitious in gambling, as long as it makes your experience more entertaining, but what is not okay is risking significant amounts of money with that.
1144  Economy / Economics / Re: Real estate vs cryptocurrencies vs business on: September 02, 2023, 10:42:36 AM
~ But if you want to generate income directly, the solution is to invest in the property sector directly. For example buying land or fruit plantations. Which will continue to produce fruit that is harvested and sold each season. The price of land increases every year and every season we can earn money from harvesting fruit.

The point is a lot can be done with that kind of money. Maybe only about 5-10 percent that I will invest in crypto.

But are you sure that the price of every land increases every year? I still think investing in lands is a bit like gambling: you can win but you can lose also. You are saying that you'd invest in crypto 5-10 percent, but how much you'd invest in land? 90-95%? That could be a mistake. If you have little to no experience in this field, it's very likely that you'll be screwed and will buy a land that will depreciate in the future.
1145  Economy / Economics / Re: I wonder if food prices in your country have also increased? on: September 02, 2023, 09:59:15 AM
~ But I was wondering if this only happened in my country or in your country too?

Right now it's a harvest season where I live. Consequently many agricultural products cost much less than half a year ago. But, surprisingly, some products, like watermelons, tomatoes, potatoes, sweet corn and peppers and some others, they cost less than a year ago during a previous harvest season.  In my country there are no such rules as "husband doing serious work and wife's doing buying and cooking". I love to cook and pretty often I buy products myself, so I know what I'm talking about. My advice: buy what is cheap at the moment and ignore overpriced stuff.
1146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you cheat in gambling? on: September 02, 2023, 09:26:03 AM
Counting cards is not cheating. I'm not sure if you can use it these days anywhere to your advantage, but it's definitely not cheating. Apart from in movies, are there modern card counters these days?

It's been always a mystery to me, to what extent that whole card counting thing was exaggerated by books, movies and media. Isn't it advantageous to casinos so that people were thinking they can beat the house?

In the past, card counting worked because few decks were used, and if you had a good memory and counting system, after many rounds you could see a deviation in the concentration of the desired cards in the remainder of the average. Due to this, the player found out (if it was in his favor) that he had an advantage over the casino and sharply increased the size of the bet. Now all of this doesn't work as there are a lot of decks being used plus they are shuffled before any statistical understanding of the remainder can be made.

I think not "few" but just one deck was used in those cases when card counting was giving an advantage to the counter. The advantage wasn't that big so to earn something you had to create a team, increase your bets to some dangerous amounts and play for many hours on end. It's a fact that it wasn't profitable for some teams, and another fact that is more important for us in this thread is that  Nevada Supreme Court (and I believe some other courts too) ruled that card counting in BlackJack is not cheating, and it shouldn't be prohibited by casinos.
1147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can i make 100 $ daily from online casinos on: September 02, 2023, 08:50:11 AM
~

A good question are you willing to risk your money? Though that's possible and you may have that luck in a day, but doing it
every day or every session, that's something not all can afford.

You may need to work with how you will manage your bankroll and control each time you play, since a single mistake can take all your money away.

Even in a high chance odd or betting with heavy favorite, shit can happen and it can take all your money away from you.

I just want clarify what kind of mistake can lead to losing all your money. It.s not betting on the wrong team in sports betting, neither it is betting on the wrong side in dice or playing a "wrong" slot. The worst mistake you can make is betting more than you can afford to lose. Bet on whatever you want, bet on a team that no one believes can win, or play on a slot with the highest house edge around, and if you are lucky you can win a huge amount, but don't put a significant amount(for you) at stake.
1148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reckless gambling starts after a win round. on: September 02, 2023, 08:16:21 AM
~
This is very common and although we claim to professional when it comes to evading such habits but sometimes we still fall victim to it, well I don't know of other but myself in particular have fall to this. The moment I start gambling and start having early win it immediately start building my confidence and before you know my thought towards a particular game changes and my aim becomws high and we all know the end result of that I suppose.

But if you think of it, your wins are random in purely luck-based games and should consider them as lucky strikes, not related to your abilities at all. A winning streak shouldn't start building your confidence. A confidence in what exactly? That you are lucky? Luckier then others? That's absurd. Every person on Earth has the same probability of being lucky in a particular game as anyone else. It's important to understand it. I think reckless gambling starts when you consciously or subconsciously regard yourself luckier than others.
1149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Chat GTP destroy poker on-line gambling??? on: August 30, 2023, 09:42:58 AM
An interesting related take about ChatGPT's case study with Chess: https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/F6vH6fr8ngo7csDdf/chess-as-a-case-study-in-hidden-capabilities-in-chatgpt#Playing_against_Stockfish_Level_3_with_the_magic_prompt.

To put it short, ChatGPT is able to play chess given detailed and thorough prompts input.

Quote
It plays at around 1000 Elo, and can make consistently legal moves until about 20-30 moves in, when its performance tends to break down. That sounds not-so-impressive, until you consider that it's effectively playing blindfolded, having access to only the game's moves in algebraic notation, and not a visual of a chessboard. I myself have probably spent at least a thousand hours playing chess, and I think I could do slightly better than 1000 Elo for 30 moves when blindfolded, but not by much. ChatGPT's performance is roughly the level of blindfolded chess ability to expect from a decent club player. And 30 moves is more than enough to demonstrate beyond any reasonable doubt that ChatGPT has fully internalized the rules of chess and is not relying on memorization or other, shallower patterns.

If one one wondering, does ChatGPT is able to play chess the answer is yes. But considering its efficiency and effectiveness, surely it does not behave in a perfect manner. Chess is known to beat humans by brute forcing any advantageous move in the state of the game, and that is already been done with software made specifically for that.

Now about poker, I think it will also be able to play it, given a detailed prompt, but do not expect maximum results. Also, since poker contains many factors, especially luck, it won't be able to dominantly beat any human players.

But chess is not poker. Far from it. World chess champion Garry Kasparov was beaten by computer called Deep Blue in 1997. And only 22 years later, in 2019, Pluribus showed that it can beat humans, poker pros(each human participant has won more than $1 million playing poker till the date), in a multiplayer No-Limit Texas Hold'em. And even after that we can't say that AI can beat any poker player, while we can say that AI can beat any chess player with certainty.
1150  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Crash may take bitcoin to 1M dollar on: August 30, 2023, 09:05:55 AM
IMO - bitcoin would be $1 million if the reality was that many big investors stopped trusting their money in banks. If one day the big banks go bankrupt then bitcoin might be an option they are considering as a store of value. Conditions like this have begun to be predicted and I would not be surprised if over time the bank loses its investors which in the end have to close their services.

The loss of public trust in bank services will make bitcoin a good choice – as well as some other assets such as gold. But gold is no better than bitcoin which most likely is not easy to store and transfer. Bitcoin can also help them stave off huge inflation – although inflation happens to bitcoin too.

Banks go bankrupt OR people just want to diversify their assets. Bitcoin doesn't need to be your the one and only bank to reach $1 Million, it can be just one of your banks to succeed in that.

And I agree with you on gold. It's not only no better, it's much worse than BTC. Gold has risen $415% in USD price for the past 20 years. Compared to Bitcoin it's laughable.
1151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots 101: Basics, Strategies, and Discussion (with poll) on: August 30, 2023, 08:22:44 AM
But aren't deviations by fractions of percent irrelevant to us gamblers? How many times we have to play a particular to feel the difference? I think it's many millions, but do you think you can feel it right away?
In my previous poll (Enhanced RTP Slots, Your Experience (with Poll))
People can't feel the difference even with a 1.5% RTP margin. So 0.25% RTP margin won't have any effect on our playing experience... BUT if you look at percentages differently, let's say you have two options, (1) to do surgery with a 99.75% success rate, with 0.25% of failure (or death), or (2) to do surgery with a 100% success rate. I bet you will choose option (2) Grin

People also say that winning a lottery only has a 1/292 million chance, but if you win, it's 100% for you...

The difference between 99.75% and 100% is huge. It's basically the difference between uncertainty and certainty. Anyone would prefer certainty to uncertainty, that's for sure. Only in reality nothing can be 100% guaranteed. In reality a surgery with a 100% success rate isn't guaranteed to be successful in any particular case in the future. It is likely to be successful, but never guaranteed.

Back to slots. If there was a slot where the house edge was negative, meaning that a player had, say, a 2% advantage. Would that imply that you would definitely win money on that slot after playing it a thousand times? It's obvious that after 100 million times you would win some money, but what about a thousand spins?

1154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: August 29, 2023, 01:15:30 PM

..... Woman also control the deposit limit easily to the gambling site as compared to men.So when the women take part in the gambling ,it will be the biggest revolution to gambling.
Smiley
Ooo!  Yeah!
I also think that women have much better control over the amount of money they can spend on gambling or on various lotteries and similar mass entertainment.
Apparently this is due to the fact that in most countries of the world (as I understand it, this is exacly the way this issue is in the whole world) women still control family budgets.  Of course, no normal man will get dirty and really think how much money to spend on his food and food for the whole family, and even more so on beautiful clothes for his wife, and even more so for children.
And since wlmen always know how much money and where to spend it, for obvious reasons, they also treat gambling bets as completely unnecessary and stupid expenses.  This, in my opinion, does not give women the opportunity to gamble normally in the sense that normal male players play.
There are probably very gamblers among women, but this is most likely an exception to the rule and such women are very rare in life.

We have almost 8 Billion people in the world, and about half of them are women. There are many different persons among them. I think any generalization would be wrong. The women from your post are more like those from the 19th century, but even then there were men who cared about kids and family budgets more than women, and there were women who gambled too.

Today in the Western world women gamblers are not exception to the rule, there are so many of them you can't imagine. You can call it "the world of Satan" or whatever, but that's how it is in the Western world today and how it will be in the whole world soon.

1156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino Slot Streamers on: August 29, 2023, 12:36:26 PM
Yes, this is exactly what's going on if we talk about established and honest gambling sites: some people lose much more than they expect, much more than the highest house edge imaginable,  to slots, or whatever they play there, because of bad luck. And then some of them think that the site is scamming them and streamers that promote that site are scammers.

sometimes this looks strange, viewers imitate what streamers do, which is clear that it's gambling, but in other days, they try it because they are seeing the wins amount from streamer. They don't think about the risks before they start, then accuse as scam in comments. I've also watched live gambling streaming, when the streamer won. Even though it's not their money though, I feel normal. Maybe when I watched it, the streamer was lucky. Of course, I didn't follow the streamer's directions to play at the place he was promoting, because for me, the place where I played was the most appropriate choice, because I would definitely be paid if I won. Watching them, just to know the game.

That's right, he was lucky. And it can happen to anyone  of us, so, I see no lie or attempt to scam there.

Copying streamers moves is pointless, you are doing the right thing with not following them. As for the particular site they playing on, honestly, I don't think it can be a scam site. Gambling sites pay a lot of money to those streamers, and scam sites are not capable of that.
1157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamble Responsibly on: August 29, 2023, 09:24:18 AM

Of course, not everyone, even a very gambler, becomes addicted to these games.
I think that this can only happen to people who have a certain psychotype of personality.  First of all, such people should have a strong emotional perception of failure, which literally leads a person to restore, as he sees it, the lost justice.  In gambling, this is naturally a series of losses.  This feeling constantly pushes such a person to commit emotional and ill-considered, and often just stupid things.

People should unbderstand that losing without hard feelings is also a skill. Those poor souls that were taught in their childhood "Don't accept failures" and stuff like that, they are living in hell when they are adults because of that upbringing.

And the second aspect for a human gambler to become addicted to gambling is the fact that he himself is a weak-willed person and is not able to really overcome his emotions.  Indeed, probably among all gamblers there can be about 5% of such people.
And it is from them that really mentally ill people can appear over time, those who really need to be treated for such addiction.

Yes, fortunately most gamblers gamble responsibly. But we should not neglect the minority who suffer. We should try to help them. And this thread is one of our attempts in that.
1158  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A weird belief among some gamblers. on: August 29, 2023, 08:32:33 AM
If you beg to differ, then I will say that you are wrong, first for generalizing gamblers as potential addict, I gamble too and I lost some money today, I have stream Netflix and I have forgotten I lost money today and for today lost, that's all till next week, and I will only play if there is a good match for me to pick, I play and don't expect anything even the ones I do have high hope of making good result; if it fail, I move on.
I would agree with the member you quoted (I didn't feel like including all that text in my reply) if he'd written "problem gambler" instead of making a statement about gamblers in general.  It's the same thing as a problem drinker possibly being a true alcoholic--it all depends on how prone a person is to addictive behaviors and how far he/she continues the problematic behavior.

Not all gamblers are addicts or even have a problem with gambling.  But man, I've met alcoholics and serious gambling addicts and they are very similar in how they think when they're in their active addiction--and the devastation a gambling problem can wreak is no joke.  People can and do lose everything.

It was a reply to my post and I too found it unfair treating all gamblers as problem gamblers. Problem gamblers constitute only a small percentage, about the same as alcoholics among those who drink alcoholic beverages. So, maybe it's not about the activity that brings you pleasure, gambling and drinking alcohol in our case, but more about self control.

We should always remember that we are humans, not some laboratory mice seeking pleasure all the time.

I see the bitcoin chart bouncing upwards, is this a sign that bitcoin will return to the $29K - $30K range at the end of August? Very interesting!

I was pretty close this time with this prediction of mine:

For a moment I thought I could end up among the winners. But after scrolling through the thread I found out that there were more accurate ones, so, now I think my chances are slim. Alright, I was close and makes me happy somehow. Smiley

Congrats to the winners of this amazing contest! Thank you, Bitcasino, for running it for us here!
