1161  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do 90% of Bettors Lose in Sports Betting in the Long-term? on: August 10, 2023, 11:58:54 PM
There was a story line in the Wire tv series where the guy follows all the teams so well he has been able to establish a positive track record over years for predictions vs odds.   However this man is so conservative he never actually bets, all he does is log and record each game and no doubt watches the games.   He isnt being biased by the money involved because he eliminated it altogether.  The TV series was written by a couple of ex reporters, ie. alot of the story themes were real or based on actual events they had witnessed or written about in the newspaper in prior decades.
I think it is possible to bet positively but sometimes the odds are poor and you should walk away from poor value bets, a team can become too popular relative to their skill and risk of losing but people bet their favorites regardless not many trouble over exact detail and maths behind it all.  It is certainly possible imo with alot of work.
1162  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for August on: August 10, 2023, 11:42:43 PM
I have to admit the prospects for August are not entirely enticing me at the present.

This little graph view is kinda useful and in this case its quite obvious in displaying the double top.  Its only 4hr bar type breadth of reference but still not a great look so far this month.

I dont mind resolution that leads to good targets, thats a proper trade and we shouldnt attempt to be biased in wanting up or down just accept the trade direction and bias.  However I'm not sure we have bias, we have more of a stuck situation where it went up and appears to be ready to repeat back down again.   Im not convinced the twin peaks there means we goto 25k, its probably going to take more then that.
1163  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price, Where Next on: August 10, 2023, 10:58:42 PM
Its recently pulled back to be almost the same price as March start which is alot of wandering about only to arrive back where you were 5 months ago.    Thats what tends to happen and I'd call the entire year a consolidation year, various prices seen but not a great deal of resolution to significantly alter price.   It is still constructive longer term but you will require sainthood before you can fully appreciate the gains that seem so slow in contrast.
BTC races ahead at times only to cruise to a near stop after that acceleration, maybe we are in eco mode doing so and it'd be negative to always move rapidly; dangerous even so at least someone who appreciates stability benefits from this drifting price but its not often speculators who would say that especially those on leverage paying for time.
1164  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is ready for $40k on: August 10, 2023, 07:46:41 PM
I agree this is still positive action occurring, looks messy up close but daily or higher bars and its ascending.   We have a channel upwards yet to be negated and generally momentum is accumulating as seen by moving averages higher every day.  We are below the 50 day average and yet to regain it confidently but thats a single measure out of quite a few looking positive.  To be especially cautious it might be best to wait to regain and confirm the 50 average below the BTC price action so thats 30k or above roughly.
1165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots fever on: August 09, 2023, 11:47:54 PM
My best slots luck was trying out a special startup deal by a casino on a free new user offer to play and win and keep your winnings even without needing to deposit.  That seemed very generous to play without anything to lose just come try it out, play to see if you will win.   Too nice an offer surely but too nice not to try imo  Grin   I swear I managed to figure out the system of that game though it was not one I had seen before and I just played very careful; of course people know if you receive a free bonus it must be placed through more then once often.
It wasnt easy but I managed to qualify and play enough times without losing it all on the down periods where I had no wins, somehow I kept the patience to qualify to win and withdraw a large amount of my winnings.    Some of it I did give back but starting off from a free offer and actually completing the full cycle to me is one of my best periods of luck playing Smiley
1166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sudden Wealth Syndrome (SWS) In Gambling on: August 09, 2023, 11:32:54 PM
I can understand it existing but never really seen it in crypto personally.  I have way too many bills to ever suffer from this in my life ever and if I didnt have enough bills, I have a giant extended family.  I only need divide the millionaire fortune across my entire family and it'd be a hundred dollars each Cheesy   Not sure I'd ever be that generous but certainly I'm used to considering money, balancing bills and income to stay liquid.
A ton of people never think of money, they earn then spend their pay almost immediately its mere minutes per week for them; so yes this is a real 'syndrome' not made up and some people end up in trouble from worry etc.
1167  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Looking to Buy a Reddit Account or Upvotes on: August 09, 2023, 10:39:19 PM
Enough karma to post isnt alot I thought, just make one now.  I have 20k karma but Im not sure it matters most of the time.   Reddit is in transition to more commercial operations apparently it might change alot from here.
1168  Economy / Speculation / Re: $30000 is becoming the resistant price on: August 09, 2023, 07:52:05 PM
30k was the level people previously expected to hold hence the actual full sell off nearly getting to half that was surprising.  Its quite possible we have old buyers in this area who remain disappointed and negative despite the regain it represents no personal profit to them.   In short there is alot of damage and debris in this area and other sections of BTC price action.

We have almost what looks like a double top on 4hr bars recently.  It was looking to be positive trend above the weekly average, however we seem ready to return right back to about 29.2k to pivot between positive and negative medium term.
Highs of last 24hr and August start relate to a monthly average roughly, various time frames not aligned towards a clear continuation upwards and forwards more sideways.
1169  Economy / Economics / Re: Am I a bad person if I manage to avoid taxes? (Hypothetical question) on: August 09, 2023, 12:18:46 AM
Its impossible to avoid all taxes that I know of, direct income tax maybe but to defer or avoid tax is almost normal for a business owner as they take losses and can write off profits against those losses across some years.    You will always be paying some kind of indirect tax or intervention by government in otherwise normal market pricing, sometimes its subsidy but overall government levies some burden on business which is a cost passed onto you.   Hence I would argue people are always taxed, only the Amish could try to argue otherwise perhaps.
1170  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is ready for $40k on: August 08, 2023, 10:44:15 PM
Good action today, nothing definitive but lows are fib level prior BTC volume during this year and previous.  High of today is a recovery back to the 50 day average area, while it remains below that measure its showing plenty of fight after an extended subdued period of time.   Not yet ready for 40k but showing the kind of action I would expect in the weeks before mounting an attempt to properly return to a level similar to a 40k target.
1171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: August 08, 2023, 04:32:41 PM
I am not sure how much that blue belt in Jiu Jitsu is going to help Zuckerberg. The advantage that Elon has in terms of height, reach and weight is just massive.

My knowledge of Ju Jitsu isnt great but the more ground fighting there is the more possible it might be for an apparent disadvantage in weight and height to be overcome.   Weight can count against you if you are on the floor and trying to get back up.   If its a straight boxing match then discussing the extra skills Zuck might have isnt that relevant, training regime perhaps but he cant use all those extra moves so Im not sure it matters.  Boxing is about legwork, reach and good defense imo, I'd bet with either of them if theres good odds and I think they are the least likely to get jelly legs 5 rounds in.
1172  Economy / Economics / Re: Real estate vs cryptocurrencies vs business on: August 07, 2023, 11:59:11 PM
I can say what I think is the answer for all three in terms of risk, most obvious its how much you personally will use this real estate.   You dont have to care about trends in the usage for that land and building type if ultimately you are the customer and can use it and pay for it.    When people propose to own more real estate then they require or have a use for in some way then it becomes speculative, like every market you are a player maybe leveraged with liabilities and costs to running that ownership.   You then need to operate a margin to your activities in order to pay those costs and are probably vulnerable to interest rate rises, or tax changes perhaps, zone limits or could be anything the risk is elevated and needs to be reduced to call it a good investment over time.  I believe that idea would apply to all three ideas for investment.
1173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reckless gambling starts after a win round. on: August 07, 2023, 11:38:16 PM
Betting higher I guess happens after you win because you wish you had bet more to win more but I wouldnt call it immediately reckless.  The golden rule is have a budget for that day before you even start to gamble, if you didnt have or keep to the budget then you already know the result.  Even if you win sometimes you can realize your actions were risky and you might have been 'walking home'  if not for some luck on your side.   Always key is dont over spend just to stick to your allotted play money, if you cannot win that night come back another time with another budgeted amount to spend; stay within the boundaries and it remains a game to win or lose.
1174  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: August 07, 2023, 10:54:01 PM
To compare yourself and their odds comparatively, its about 50/4000 say which is 1.25% luck vs that winning amount.     You had a 1 in 100 shot of being similarly as lucky, very remote on what was probably already good luck even with a 4000 ticket win it requires some good luck to occur.  This is like getting a Darts bullseye while facing backwards throwing it over your shoulder blindfolded and drunk Tongue  But you had a shot, alot of us wont be getting even a brush with such chances of a Lambo or the money equal.   I wont be buying 50 tickets for now but maybe I win them, Im presently saving up for a unicycle and an umbrella.
Trying to imagine the circumstances where a person takes the actual car with delivery cost apparently liable, extreme volatility, logjammed Suez and panama canals with big order queues on Lambo stock maybe & a market where BTC is rollercoaster style -10% some days its better just to take the certain value amount who knows; it has to be good publicity if somebody does drive away maybe enter the Cannonball run with a sponsored sticker on the side for free fuel Cheesy

I was hoping for slightly more BTC on the spins, I've used up some of my vast reserves in capitulation.  Dont short a dull market.  Someone is singing this is the end in the speculation forum and its really not, its more classic snakes and ladders and too familiar a pattern to take as negative imo.    The odds for end month price predict are very conservative and positive so I just put down some wild bets for breakout scenarios which I dont think happen but one of them is 1000 to one which requires only a little bet to count; I prefer that to mainstream in this case as I'm already involved in the fairly boring progression and visible and reasonable target BTC prices.  Bet FUN accumulates might be the one to go with this month if anything, it tends to jump around like a flea :p
1175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Collective bets in local lotteries on: August 07, 2023, 10:29:18 PM
I used to enter the lottery via the group buy but you have to trust its going to be run properly.  One factory I worked where I was not personally part of the lottery syndicate they did win but the organizer said it was their own personal ticket.   Well whose to know if it was theres or the groups, the group must have an actual set number chosen every week or it will open up confusion on whether they won or not.  The person who won got 150k dollars and returned to work in 2 weeks.
1176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: August 07, 2023, 08:33:34 PM
The main difficulty was the temperature as I understand it hence the date change from a normal scheduled world cup.  Qatar politically wants to position themselves as a key ally to the west and world hence hosting the competition was important to them generally.  The idea of profit exactly is pretty remote on the whole deal of hosting a world cup, I think Greece struggled after hosting the Olympics ironically it was a bit much so theres all kinds of reasons why some countries should not go forward on hosting; its important the country itself wants to bear that burden for a number of years before during and after.   I had a member of my extended family attend the world cup in not the best health as part of their dream holiday he'd always wanted to support their team;  he actually passed away during the event due to long term health concerns.  The family were grateful about how they were treated and help and care received during such difficult circumstances with all the people required for logistics of transporting him back home.
I've missed any great negative conclusion drawn about the hosting, considering all the upset fans wandering around after their team loses there is plenty reason why things can go badly.
1177  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: August 07, 2023, 02:09:43 PM
The later ticket levels boost the interest gained so I see it as running parallel to deposits in terms of rewards for holding but I'd hope for more then one return to occur ideally we hope price does average up plus spins but the cashback also helps justify the token hold longer term.
1 in 1000 is better then I thought for odds on golden tickets, relatively the larger prizes like that look better in odds now even if they are still rare.

I was thinking or considering a bullish take to end of August.  Going on the basis of range, if we just repeat our prior course back upto 30k it doesnt even really require a breakout of special action to occur.   Price action does appear negative but imo its not especially significant or volume proven, Im not thinking of a break futher down at present hence I might look to bet on 30k area as reasonable.
1178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mistake that prevented your big win. on: August 07, 2023, 02:54:54 AM
Surely the mistake would be to always take the cash out and this would literally prevent any big win occurring because you will cut every bet short not allowing it to play out.   I would ideally want to cash out half the bet and allow the other half to ride.   Your cash out could pay for the bet win or loss to take place and mean you cannot lose any of your original stake, this is the ideal.     My mistake would be a repeated one, planning to bet later but forgetting to do so and running out of time.
1179  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin on Weekly looks Dangerous on: August 06, 2023, 11:50:09 PM
Still looks fine to me, the absolute trend line being compromised has not been that reliable a measure for guessing substantial breakdown scenarios imo.    Its challenged but not near defeated imo, its doing what its done in the past we get gains and it takes time to develop and revise all those prices.   Instead of the constant gain some had hoped for we end up going sideways and retracting some of those gains seen, the rate of change is far slower then hoped for but that doesn't mean we are now negative.
Biggest clue would be the moving averages I think, we are below 50 day average yet it continues to rise overhead of us.  A proper negative conclusion or take on that measure would have us moving upwards the 50 day average and only finding it as a prop for the ceiling to prices.   Overall because of how 50day, 200 day and even the really long term 200 week averages are rising I think we remain positive even with pullbacks.
If we goto 27k or 25k expect even more disappointment, then fear and finally disorder from forced selling or even optional selling but from people giving up.   Even though we can warn of such a thing, its hard to handle when within the storm people will sell at the very lowest price possible when we all want and know the best time to buy is actually the low and highs are the better time to sell yet human nature has us doing the opposite.   Markets repeatedly do this to us, its almost a living beast trying to scare holders to let go.  Being familiar helps and also try to take as many view points as possible, first order is to note each time bar available on the graph as almost a separate entity and behavior in that time pattern.  Obviously all time has a relation to every other unit but consider the spirit of every unit as a new creature moving in the price with a different pace and stride to its price moves.   Hope that makes some sense, as humans our vision of the world is never perfect keep double checking is my rough bottom line & I would stress is important for accuracy.

Im not taking more then 5 seconds on a chart because its an obvious point, we arent even past March April and later volume.  Its not especially more then a normal pullback, demonstrating no great strength and has yet to wipe prior volume even recently seen; it did lose its rapid gains and that also is probably normal.
Put a trend on pricing since mid June, see if we breakdown out of that and then its something of a failure scenario & may then prove more then a pullback idling nothing burger.
1180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A weird belief among some gamblers. on: August 06, 2023, 11:21:26 PM
The odds are fixed after the bet has been made, some systems of betting however do change according to the overall number of similar bets made so it can only be a hangover from that I think.  Either its that or its like a wish, you cant tell anyone or it will never come true.   That would be funny but also possible people just prefer not to say exactly how they are betting, I guess there is some logic to it along the lines of play your cards close like its a poker game Cheesy
