Wow! They actually exist! Might grab one as well if the price is right. I love to have a little less barebone design than many other miners.

What are the usb ports for? Is it possible to daisy chain them? Or something else?

Are people's account numbers still being added?

I've tried to get my NXTL account added multiple times before, but never got added. Then it changed to NODE, and we had to generate a new account. I tried to have that one added as well, and posted in this thread among others. I've also just sent a PM to silkroad.

I hope my account number gets added before the deadline  Undecided It's 16042401060665960250

Faucets have their challenges too... i've run a few since the original PMC one now.

What I have learnt is people tend to get a server with hundreds of IPs and basically change the IP, request funds with a new address. Rince and repeat. All automated ofcourse.

I worked out a way to prevent these scammers now so if we want to run a faucet to distribute coins it can be done in a controlled fashion.

Isn't that what all those annoying captcha things are supposed to prevent?  Huh
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner on: June 19, 2014, 02:31:39 PM
I find it most concerning that Alpha isn't even trying to defend themselves here, or trying to make the concerns go away.

I'll contact my creditcard provider today and ask for their terms.

[edit]

Just called my creditcardprovider, which is Mastercard through Dutch ING bank. Since I did not receive any product yet, this doesn't fall under the 180 day purchase insurance. I would have to file a dispute about a transaction, which can be done up to 120 after the initially agreed on delivery date.

so you have to wait AFTER July say aug 1st or some such? Hmmm myself I can only go by what amex person said...for all I know in 4 weeks I will get a letter
saying because it was thru paypal I only had 45 days...I really have no idea....they litterally told me
Amex will dispute this and let me know how it goes (thru snail mail)

so I'm gonna be completely in the dark till it is resolved....or the money that has been refunded simply stays refunded.....say 6 months from now (not disputed by alpha)

anyway...i did BFL last year (got refunded by dumb luck only) I guess this is my 'stupid' move this year ...good to have goals Smiley

by the way you did say this was 30% down on  a pre-order right and they will not refund the pre-order money and the unit has not even shipped yet and they want (alpha) you
to send the remainder and they DON'T take paypal anymore want wire or bank xfer? I'd think that would change their tune (master card) and they are trying to keep almost 1/3 of the unit value as a penalty for not sending them the other 70% via unsecured means or you will not get the unit at all and lose all that pre-order $$$ to them....all for vaporware..that more or less  was my plug to amex lady...more or less

again I know zip ...it was a hail 'Mary pass" or last resort at my end to amex ..it is sooooo out of my hands now ...."corp fight corp fight" (must stock up on popcorn 4 weeks form now when snail mail trickles in)....either way i get a refund the amex letter gets framed..i don't get any $$ the amex letter gets framed...good life lesson either way .... got to get off this trend where every asic mnfg thinks I'm an asic equip 'slut' (trying to reform honest......but they make nice whirly sounds and colored LCD's and all...sigh i get all 'fluttery' Wink

Searing

Yeah, I did tell them it was a down payment. You don't have to wait untill the originally agreed shipping date to file a claim. You just have up to 120 days (with mastercard that is) after that date to file the claim the latest.

I find it most concerning that Alpha isn't even trying to defend themselves here, or trying to make the concerns go away.

I'll contact my creditcard provider today and ask for their terms.

I think the damage is done and they probably are not going to try to clean it up at this point. Perhaps some people were saved from further losses by what the posts brought to every ones attention here. I am appreciative of that. But on the other hand, it also could have been the straw that broke the camels back. We will see.

I think it is clear they don't have all the money to give back refunds, which makes sense due to the 30% down model.

With the price of LTC crashing (still) and no word from Alpha, I am not leaning towards going through with this, UNLESS they really come out with something comforting.
I only have a 50Mh/s on order, so my pay pal loss will suck, but who knows, maybe I can get that back (though I didn't use a CC).

Yeah, I only have a small viper on order as well, but it still would suck to loose the money. If they would be able to show something that proves they will actually get a working chip, I would still consider paying the remaining 70%. I fear they never will be able to though, so I'll probably ask for a refund as soon as they have the CC payment setup and the final payment deadline is set.

@TMX: if I scan the wallet with virustotal, I get 2 false positives. Is there a way to make these go away? Most wallets nowadays don't have any false positives anymore.

Any false positives from virustotal will make the coin far less popular. It's better to get rid of them than telling people to ignore them.

Exactly, that's why I asked if it was still possible Wink

I still don't get why there has to be a huge giveaway or a giveaway at all. From an investor's point of view this is pure poison.
Coin's supply would had been dramatically shortend, if there was only a swap. In Your scenario there will be even more coins.

Well the idea is to attract new people and new interest to PMP. It became clear that with the current amount of users we aren't able to keep the coin alive. Rarity in itself does not mean value. Rarity combined with many users (demand) does. The new PMP still has only a few coins compared to most other coins out there.
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: June 17, 2014, 12:27:16 PM
There are some points that I am interested right now: How many PMP will users get? How do you plan to prevent excessive Multiaccounting? While giving the coins out remember that you shouldn't flood the market and give the people too many coins, or else the market will be dumped to death. Also, on the note of publicity: How do we get attention? You need to get the attention of the masses to the coin, or else it will be another "meh, it's free, I'll dump it"-coin. Remember to promote that PMC was the first in its field and that it is just getting to the next level.

Just my two cents.

The best idea for the PMP 'Airdrop' as it were, was to give it away in 1 month rounds... Round 1 starts July1st and gives out 250,000 coins ( 50 percent of the giveaway coins ) After that is completed, round two would be 125,000 coins... round three 62,500 coins etc etc... lasting until the year 2015.. each round is a clean slate and people can re-apply for the coins... the number of coins given out will taper down, much like a POW coin tapers...

Obviously the usual double dipping and such could still happen... but all we can do is the best we can... we can't do any better than that. We could also utilize the exchanges for some coin giveaways as well....

I will be involved with the swapping of PMC for PMP and I thought it very important that the 'DEV' in charge of the giveaway NOT be me... and Vs Vrs...

I don't want to sound like a greedy hoarder that is fearing for the wealth of his coins, but I am a little concerned about giving away 250k coins in a short amount of time. You have to take into account that without enough people claiming these coins, this might result in few people getting a lot of coins, thus automatically lowering the base value of the coin.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for giving away all the coins in a reasonable amount of time, but this time we should ensure a wider spread of the coins and especially aim at growing the community.

I think 1 month isn't that short, at least not in crypto. And we should indeed be careful about the giveaway. We need to make a system that limits the amount of 'double dippers', but still make sure it is easy to join. We could also limit the amount of coins per person on forehand, to make sure that if there aren't enough legit applicants they won't get huge amount of coins (say 1000 coins p.p. max, so at least 250 people in first giveaway). We could then move 'left over' coins to the next giveaway round.

Immersion cooling always looks so cool Smiley Keep up the experimenting!

Hey everyone.

Got a chance to play with the new wallet, even mined some empty blocks... it works great.

But the addressing space is still wrong, so TMX is getting it recompiled and restarted so all the addresses will start with a 'P'

( It was A or 9 )...   then the ball starts to roll...

WE ARE ALMOST THERE!

I like the starting with a p thing Smiley
137  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide on: June 08, 2014, 08:08:36 PM
On the site there was a listed Skype ID. When you type in that ID, several addresses come up. You can test that yourself. One of them is the scammer, which you must have engaged with as you sent the scammer funds.

I'm not sure why you're attacking me though...
i believe you see the flaw in your logic and i feel like you are trying to split the difference-

you wrote "On the site there was a listed Skype ID"  yes i agree

then you wrote "When you type in that ID, several addresses come up" - this part is absurd. if you are on the site looking at the icon you click on, you would not then do anything else but click on it. now, i know from my last post i made this very clear. so your telling me that i went to a site to look at a skype icon to then do a search, and as you said, "several addresses come up" and then picked one at random as opposed to already accomplishing my goal by just contacting them right from the website that i would have to go to to get the skype name..... so first u bring up tx id, which i give then you find another method of denial.. thats so fucked... please stop rating people .

and if your willing to go to such lengths for lightningasic.com why not counter balance that with the person who has more proof and who has common sense on his side..... this is not a rating service you just figured out a way to get free shit- this wont be tolerated... lightningasic paid you of and you went on there thread made no public inquiries and told everybody u have upgraded them to an A,,,, really .... if u try to bs me again i will take offense,, you decided to do this rating thing, so is it real or just a joke to you?

Seriously, stop spamming. You have been posting multiple times a day in the LA thread for weeks now, don't start doing the same thing here.

The Skype ID's on the website never changed. I don't know what exactly happened, but you sent the bitcoin to a scammer. It's your own fault, LA had his BTC address in his post, and warned everybody not to use any other address multiple times. BTC was like $400 when this happened, so you lost $320. Yes, it's never nice to loose money, but stop bothering us with your mistake.

So, what's the status on PMC2?

Same question...

MightyX? You there?

Hey sorry I didn't get home till late last night. had to spend all that money I got from you guys  Grin

Last I heard from the Dev was friday morning/afternoon. He was still trying to work out the kinks with the silkcoin wallet.
Unfortunately thats the source i used. I now regret it because its causing nothing but problems ><
It should work, but there are some...

I'm sorry for the delay guys but my hands are tied until he gets back to me.
I'll send him another message to see whats up.
Going on IRC to see if anyones around, I'll leave it open for most of the night.
I don't want to name the developer publicly, but I'll tell some of the more senior members on the forum who the developer is, that way they can verify for the community that there's no funny business going on.

At this point you can all blame me for the delays  Cheesy

The latest silkcoin wallet, 1.0.9, is running fine for me. No errors there. It was the 1.0.8 that was causing problems. And the 1.0.9 looks a lot better as well!

Official Block Explorer is back in full sync Smiley daemon had crashed (been running since inception and debug log was HUGE!!!)

Great!

I was working off 1.08 Embarrassed
I've just tried running the new silkcoin qt 1.09 and its still crashing on load no matter what I do.
The developer has complained three times to me already about the silkcoin wallet  Lips sealed
If we just wanted the ugly basic bitcoin-qt wallet we could have our new coin two days ago!
But I'm not ready to give up on the silkcoin source. It gives us room to grow and implement very useful features in the future, when we are ready.
Block explorer in-wallet for example is a handy feature.

Going out for an hour and then I'm gonna spend tonight sorting this out. Please bear with me.

You are also on windows x64 right? I am, and 1.0.9 really is running fine here.

Anyway, good luck fixing it! I would love to see the silkcoin 1.0.9 for PMC! The design is much better, and the extra features are really nice.
