601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: February 19, 2014, 01:27:49 AM
Big Announcement coming soon for PMC

Stay tuned, I can say no more yet, but a real boost is coming.

When can we expect the announcement? And maybe give a little hint? Cryptsy maybe? Or a store accepting PMC?

Feedback On Updated Logo

What do you guys think of this logo update made by Albertdros?

Looking good! Much clearer than the previous logo. Could he maybe make an animated gif (with rotating logo) as well? This would look really fancy Smiley
603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT on: February 18, 2014, 04:29:50 PM
Guys, please be patient. You are speaking of 'them' and 'they', but this still is a one-man operation.

The guy needs to sleep, do grocery shopping, visit his mother, probably attend to his regular job, just like you guys.

Up till now all problems have been resolved, and I don't see any reason not to trust busoni. Just relax a little, and wait until he is back online again.
604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: February 18, 2014, 03:30:43 PM
How about hiring a couple more people to spread PMC? ME for example?Huh Grin  Grin

How would you spread PMC? If the idea is good, there will probably be some people here (including me) who could give you some PMC in return.
605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Raspberry Pi altcoin image (free download) on: February 18, 2014, 03:06:13 PM
55 euro for a 8GB SDHC card also seems somewhat..expensive to say the least  Shocked

It's only the replacement card in case one of your cards get lots/damaged. You should always have 2 cards so one can serve as the backup.

What he means is that these cards are only like 5-10 euro everywhere else. Why would anyone buy them from you?
606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Raspberry Pi altcoin image on: February 18, 2014, 01:17:12 PM
Uh, wait. You made this image with the wallets preinstalled? That means that everyone who uses this will have the same private key, and same address...

There shouldn't be any wallets created. If there are any, this is of course not intended. We will check the image and make sure there are no wallets created. Until then, the download will be disabled.

Thanks for the input.

Ok, if you haven't ever started the client before creating the image, there shouldn't be a problem.

608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Compare pools: MiddleCoin/CleverMining/HashCows/WafflePool/Hashbros on: February 18, 2014, 09:29:31 AM
Does the balancing feature work properly? I have tried it a few times with only 2 pools, and every time like 80% of my hashrate was going to pool 1, and 20% to the other pool, sometimes flipping around. In the end the hashrate was absolutely not balanced.

Maybe it would be better to really start a separate instance of cgminer for each pool?
609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GLB]Globe – NOW ON AN EXCHANGE - Fast , Backed, Economically Viable on: February 18, 2014, 09:09:12 AM
We can try, but GLB only has about $27k market cap at the moment - we would be at the bottom of the list (2nd page) - not a good place to start, in my opinion. Once GLB price increase, once we display more unique features, once we can explain the importance of a Reserve, then more miners will come and everything should fall into places.

Globe is doing well at the moment, it is mining at par with BTC profitability, and most of the time over that.  GLB is also trading on average 2% of its market cap, daily - which is very good for an SHA-256 coin.  Some alt-coins don't even get 1% (BTC is usually around 0.5%).  I consider heavy trading to be around 10-20% of market cap - like UNO recently. But before that event, UNO was at less than 1%, and UNO has been on both CoinWarz and Marketcoincap, forever....  Scrypt coins trade usually higher at around 3-5% - scrypt miners tend to be more BTC swappers.

GLB is still young, patience...

The question that they are asking is the real time number of coins issued so far - I don't think that we have a block explorer yet, so we don't have a url for them to use. We can ask Sphere.  Individually, we all have the capability to find the answer, by typing "gettxoutsetinfo" in the Console of our wallet client. But I haven't seen anything automated that extract that variable.

If your question was related to max cap, I don't believe that there is a cap for GLB, just like any other normal currencies in the world. However, the release rate of the currency is known and controlled (unlike the $US).  So, GLB max cap is as good as any other crypto-coins that takes 40-50 years to be released, like DEM, FRK, HBN.  In 40 years, there should be around 100M GLB (if you want to use that as a metric) - or about 2.6M per year, plus the 1% inflation factor.  I think it is better than DOGE that will see over 90% of its 100 Billion coins released by June 2014 (similar to ZET at 99.5% released - and look at where is ZET now...).  In my opinion, rarity is not what gives the dollar or the Euro its value, it's not even what gives gold its value.  What gives value, is a mix of, the cost of production, some good "Branding", usefulness, ease of use, stability, and other factors like this (like, if you made it to the Olympics or not...but even that wears out after a few months)

EDIT:  I suggested to Sphere to convert the Price Stabilization Mechanism, into a permanent Charity Fund, that Globe could use to attract attention in the media, but most importantly to change people's life on this planet. Something like the Water Project, which have sustainable projects all over the "Globe".  That is something that could be discussed in the forum. We could be the only currency with a "Donation built-in every block!" - that would be unique.... one drop of water every minute...

I think an addition to coinmarketcap is a great way to get more attention to Globe, even though we would be almost at the bottom of the list. I think every cryptocurrency either stands or falls by the amount of people who are interested in this coin. Having a few people who are really active and trying to get this coin to take of is great, but it won't happen until there is a big enough community around them. That is why I would like addition to services like coinmarketcap.

Also there already is a block explorer over here (as mentioned in TS), but I don't know how to show the current amount of coins in that explorer.

I don't really like the charity conversion idea of the price stabilization. I do agree that it would be good to make clear how and when the price stabilization is used. Maybe I would see more in just skipping the price stabilization, and moving the funds to the reserve, if it actually is to hard to determine when to use the funds.

Could any of you try to get GLB added on coinmarketcap? You need to fill in this google docs sheet to do so.

I am having trouble finding the url for the total amount of coins? This is required. Also bitcointalk messes up the url of images, so could you (sphere) host the logo on the Globe website (I guess he needs the logo without letters).
612  Local / Mining (Nederlands) / Re: Interesse in groupbuy Gridseed? on: February 17, 2014, 04:58:58 PM

613  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Looking for most secure cold storage laptop on: February 17, 2014, 04:40:21 PM
There are some decent encrypted USB drives as well, which need a password before you can read/write anything.

If you really want to stick with cd, you could use an external writer with eSata interface.
614  Local / Mining (Nederlands) / Re: Interesse in groupbuy Gridseed? on: February 17, 2014, 04:19:26 PM

615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept on: February 17, 2014, 08:30:54 AM
That is the only downside of giving them away at Poloniex... no one needs to download the wallet...
Yeh I'm not sure Poloniex giveaways are gonna help much...

The flaw is that they don't need a wallet when an exchange does the giveaway, so why would they bother getting to know PMC Smiley

I don't really think that it matters. Some may get to know PMC, or maybe none of them will. But it creates transactions, and volume on the exchange. The 24h volume on poloniex is 13.88BTC now, and it even was 25BTC yesterday! That is a 10 fold increase from the 1-2BTC we had the past weeks! I think that is what matters.
616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT on: February 15, 2014, 11:33:25 AM
Everyone's deposits and withdrawals should have gone through by now. Please contact me again if you're missing something.

Yes, all running fine AFAICT.

Hopefully you'll grow big enough you can hire people for 24/7 support & monitoring!  Grin

I'm struggling more with how I can hire someone who could be of any use without giving them access to people's money. I think I'll need to write a lot of new code for some kind of support interface.

I think there are many open source support management systems. Why don't you just use one of those?

Are you guys having trouble voting at allcrypt as well? I keep getting this message:

Quote from: Allcrypt.com voting page
This page uses WebSockets to communicate data to and from the server. You do not appear to be connected. Try a refresh, or your browser may not support WebSockets (what year are you living in? Wink. We are working on adding legacy support for older browsers, but for now, this is how it works. If you have a new browser, and are seeing this anyway, PLEASE email us the details at contact@allcrypt.com - we're in beta - WE might have broke! We will try and get it fixed ASAP. Thanks!

I get it in both firefox and chrome (latest updates), both here and at my university. Sometimes it suddenly works, but most of the time it doesn't. Websockets on other pages work fine...
