121  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan Request on: April 07, 2024, 09:06:00 PM
Has anyone looked at the history of his Bitcoin address on the forum? This is a scammer who doesn’t have the intelligence to change the wallet address and regularly makes requests for help or a loan.
It's spring, and it's time for schizophrenics to get worse.

https://ninjastic.space/addresses?address=1DWoQqyx3mDSWRLoQrYphvVLumnqu6N6E

Yeah, definitely a good catch on the address! Looks like this dude is playing the pity party scam for a while.  He even started using a female name, probably thinking that we would be more sympathetic that way.  Cheesy

123  Other / Meta / Re: Can a lost account be recover? on: April 07, 2024, 08:21:15 PM
If it is your personal wallet then you can recover it if you had created a backup of your wallet. If it is an exchange wallet then you can get access only through contacting the exchange. If non of those are your issue then plase explain the reason for creating this topic.

I'm also not sure what he is asking whether its a wallet that he is asking. Which normally a newbie will be asking for as well.

But if he means forum account then yes as long as he can still login to his email he can recover. But most newbies that come here asking for password actually meant his wallet password.

Why would he ask about forum account as he is stil able to login with this ID.

I believe this is a question for future reference, not related to the current wallet issue. The OP is probably asking in case hi forgets his forum password in the future, not because he has forgotten it right now. If you check his other posts, youll notice he refer to this forum as "the system" as well.

I doubt anyone would ask such a question on this board, my understanding is that such questions should be on the Meta board.

He is a newbie. He might not be familiar with all the ins and outs of the forum yet.

anyone? the site live.

Sorry to say, but your incentive is simply too small for anyone to be interested in testing your game and writing a review. You need to understand the value of other people's time, just as you value your own.
125  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why storing trust wallet in a hardware more recommendable than i mobile devices on: April 07, 2024, 07:57:19 PM
How can you store trust wallet? how did you ended up with this idea? Did you read somewhere said that trust wallet can be put in a hardware?

Every electronic device is a piece of hardware. I assume that by "storing" he actually meant "installing".

That's wrong, Trust Wallet is only available on smartphone, so how would you use it on laptop or onto a desktop computer?

In addition to smartphones, Trust Wallet can also be used on a laptop or desktop computer as an extension for Chrome, Brave, Opera, and Edge browsers.
126  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 2 cold wallets for my crypto assets on: April 07, 2024, 07:49:58 PM
I have few more questions if you don't mind:

1. If your cold wallet is offline 99% of the time does that mean that if/when offline it cannot be hacked?

There are many forms of so-called "cold" wallets. The term is generally used for a device or storage method that never goes online. If the device is online or connected to an internet-enabled device even just 1% of the time, then technically it is no longer a cold wallet. A piece of paper, for example, is a cold wallet (you only use it as a storage method for your private key). There are hardware wallets and electronic devices that are completely air-gapped, and can also be considered cold wallets. And finally, there are hardware devices that are sort of cold wallets, because you still have to occasionally connect them to an internet-enabled device (computer or mobile) to use them. But this does not mean that they can be hacked because they are designed in such a way that your private keys can never leak from the device's memory and are only used to sign transactions. This is true for some of them, it is hard to say for sure for non-open source devices.

2. Those who read this question please let me know which cold wallet you would choose if you were me with the knowledge you have today?

It depends on your use case. What do you want to do with your cold wallet?

3. Why open source cold wallet is better than none open source wallets?

Because they can be verified by independent experts. Same as all other open source software.
127  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need a guidance on: April 06, 2024, 09:04:19 PM
Hey bestcandy, great to see you join the forum! I know it can be kinda overwhelming at first with so much info, but no worries.

My advice is just poke around the boards you like, especially any sticky threads to get the basics down.  The Beginners section here has some good guides too for new folks.  Basically dive in and soak up what you can - no pressure to be an expert day 1! We all started clueless once upon a time.  But with some reading and asking questions, youll get your footing in no time

So welcome again! Happy you found us.

The game is in early alpha still the game still needs to be configurated. You might not be able to view the site just yet has i just recently upgraded to a VPS for hopefully faster connection and more players.

It is always fun to see a welcome page like this. Nice job!  Wink

129  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why storing trust wallet in a hardware more recommendable than i mobile devices on: April 06, 2024, 08:43:06 PM
Actually what I would recommend is that you should buy a cheap device that will only be used for storage of assets. It will keep you Safe from many accidents believe me.

If by "cheap device" you mean a hardware wallet from a respectable manufacturer, then yes.  Using a hardware wallet from a good company is definitely the way to go for secure crypto storage.  But I wouldn't trust just any old cheap phone or laptop to keep my coins safe.  Who knows what kind of flaws or security holes those things might have!
130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it right to advice other people against gambling for personal reasons like?? on: April 06, 2024, 08:28:17 PM
We all have our own path in life.  For some, gambling is a harmless pastime.  But for others, it can become an unhealthy obsession.  This fellow seems to have struggled with self-control when it came to gambling.  Before judging others, he would do well to reflect on what drove his own actions and  of course his experience is just one story.  Many folks gamble now and then without major consequences.  But for a vulnerable few, the lure of easy money leads down a tricky road.  As with many things, moderation is key.  His bad experience is a warning, not a universal law.  Maybe it will scare someone into setting limits or quitting altogether, but ultimately, we all must walk our own path, wherever it may lead.
131  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 2 cold wallets for my crypto assets on: April 06, 2024, 07:53:45 PM
Could you please tell me, knowledgeable people, would it be possible to place my crypto assets on both devices at the same time and, if yes, then, if for example my Nano X would get hacked, Tangem will still have them? Or, if they are gone from one wallet they'd be gone from all cold wallets, because hacker would authorise transactions for me?

You can create two separate wallets. One on each device. Clearly, if one of them gets hacked, the other will be safe. But in that case, you have to spread your funds between two different addresses, each on a separate wallet.

Or, you can create your wallet on one device. Then use the backup seed phrase to import the same wallet to another device. In that case, both wallets will hold the same funds, but if either of them gets hacked, your funds are gone.

But the most important question, why would you use two different devices for the same wallet (unless it is due to redundancy). If you do not trust the Ledger wallet, why use it at all?
132  Other / Meta / Re: Another feature should be added on Bitcointalk SuperNotifier bot. on: April 05, 2024, 09:40:10 PM
Let me know your thoughts about this suggestion thanks.

Im not sure that it would even be possible, or that TryNinja would put so much resources into such a feature.

Scraping the forum for information about moved topics would not be practical without a dedicated log system.  There are a vast number of topics, and dozens of new ones are created every day. The bot would need to constantly monitor and check every single one to detect if any of them have been moved to a different board.  It would also need to maintain a record of all members who have ever commented on such topics, and for some threads there may be hundreds of users, so that it can send a notification to each of them.  It is just too complicated. Unless of course there is some other way that Im not aware of.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A few crypto questions. on: April 05, 2024, 09:09:33 PM
Hey guys. Just to clear up a little misunderstanding I've got. There's something I don't quite understand and it is what happens after people hodl coins and altcoins.

So, we all say that hodling is better than trading, yeah? And I think the only way to earn from cryptocurrency is by exchanging it for fiat currency, right? Meaning, the hodling is just for the value to increase over a while and then you still trade it right?
And for the altcoins, after buying altcoins, what happens if no one wants to buy them from you? You know a lot of altcoins aren't all that popular so how do people even sell off their altcoins? Can you even hodl altcoins?

I know those are a lot of questions, but I keep on getting it wrong in my head. So thanks in advance for the answers.

You are basically right, hodling is a long-term strategy where you buy and hold crypto, hoping its value will increase over time. You can then sell it for fiat at a profit later.  But that is not the only way. i.e. you dont have to exchange it for fiat currency specifically because in many parts of the world you can actually spend cryptocurrencies by buying goods and services, just like you do with fiat money. So you dont have to use exchanges at all.

As far as altcoins are concerned, this is a risk that exists with any investment asset. What happens to your investment in, for example, gold if prices plummet and no one wants to buy gold for whatever reason? What happens to your investments in shares and bonds if the company or county goes bankrupt? Real estate - the same thing. But even your fiat money is not safe. There are numerous cases of hyperinflation where currencies have become practically worthless, wiping out people's savings.

There are thousands of altcoins on the market, and new ones are created daily. Some of them have the potential to increase in value, but this does not mean that they are without risk.
134  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Physical items, coins etc.. || Issue related question ??! on: April 05, 2024, 08:45:38 PM
It just occurred to me, has anyone ever used NFTs in combination with physical coins (or other collectibles) as proof of ownership? Like "tokenized assets". This could be a solution to some of the problems since digital NFTs cannot be counterfeited (the NFT acts as a digital certificate of authenticity, making it much harder to create fakes.)
135  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Physical items, coins etc.. || Issue related question ??! on: April 04, 2024, 08:56:39 PM
Probably not. That is why it is important that you buy such coins only from trusted sellers. You "trust" in the authenticity of the hologram label, similar to how you trust the legitimacy of a private key hidden underneath.

Yes of course

but what about not first-hand (old/rare) items resolded in this section for example and on other places too ? Huh

Well, I guess the first thing you need to do is to know what you are buying. Then you compare the pictures of the coin you are buying with the real one. Look for any discrepancies, especially in the holographic label (which are not so easy to replicate). You can use resources like the "Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-Currencies" to help identify authentic features. Finally, check the seller's reputation and decide on the risk you are willing to take.
136  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Physical items, coins etc.. || Issue related question ??! on: April 04, 2024, 08:25:14 PM
A lambda user could not figure the difference, no?!

Probably not. That is why it is important that you buy such coins only from trusted sellers. You "trust" in the authenticity of the hologram label, similar to how you trust the legitimacy of a private key hidden underneath.

What do we think about this?

Me think "we" have no fracking idea what you are talking about! Cheesy

Could you please rephrase your question?  Are you wondering if a 1% edge makes a big difference in the short term for individual players?
138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many times all-in save your bankroll? on: April 03, 2024, 08:44:28 PM
I knew that most of us here experienced doing an all-in bet whenever when we are already down significantly amount of our bankroll and already get tired to slowly earn back your losses.

In my experience, desperation drove those decisions more than strategy ever did and  the dream is so tantalizing though - one good roll to make it all back and then some! But you are right, it can backfire real fast.

Now Im trying to take a more measured approach.  Stick to my guns with my initial bets, manage my bankroll carefully throughout.  Slow and steady does win the race after all.  No matter how dull it might feel in the moment, it beats going bust in five second flat.  That defeated, regretful walk away from the casino is no fun at all.

What game is your favorite to do this and what’s your record so far if you can still track it?

Honestly, I cannot say I have a favorite game for all-in bets.  Maybe with dice games, or roulette.  My track record with all-in bets?  Definitely more losses than wins. So I learned my lesson the hard way.
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need some ideas on: April 03, 2024, 08:00:26 PM
Best to make sure you shape the difficulty and topics of your program based on what your audience already knows.  That way they will stay interested and keep on learning instead of gettin bored or confused.  I would say the first thing ya gotta do is figure out who exactly you are talkin to.  Are they total newbies when it comes to Bitcoin, or do they kinda already know some basic stuff and are ready to get into the nitty gritty?  If they already got some baseline knowledge, you can jump into more complex stuff like how mining works or the technology behind the blockchain, but the key is tailoring it to their level.
140  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: is bit-blaze.com SCAM on: March 31, 2024, 08:25:50 PM
thnx man i blocked him on discord and epicnpc mods said that they are aware of that scam exchange and that i should not have an issue
i send just the front of my ID card which is on Arabic so it shouldnt be a problem the only issue is that he know my full name and birthday
but i doubt he can do much with that

I hope you wont have any problems, but honestly, even showing the front of your ID is a bit much for this situation.  If this scammer gets hold of that info, they could sell it on the dark web, which could lead to even more more targeted attacks in the future.  So, best to avoid that next time.  And of course, dont even think about sending them money!  Scammers love to make up stories and promises to get as much cash out of people as they can.  Just keep your wallet shut and walk away.
