121  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 04, 2014, 04:53:37 AM
TL;DR he is solid trustworthy

I don't think anyone here who has held shares would disagree but this isn't about that. IPO investors who entrusted him with 500 BTC (~$5000 at the time) for a board seat (5000 shares) are now millionaires, go back and read that for yourselves. However, the question that many people here (speculators and soon-to-be shareholders) are wondering:

Q: Is it more profitable to

1) just hold BTC
2) spend BTC to buy mining gear that is "ahead of the curve"
3) spend BTC to buy shares in mining company that develops and sells their own hardware

It is highly recommended that those who decide to partake in any of these options to do your research, or you will just give away your BTC.

So I dont think that AM accounts for 163,962 virtual whole shares of Bitfountain's 236,038... I think they are seperate - Bitfountain owns 236,038 - then AM has 163,962 shares that are up for purchase. Can someone please correct me if I'm wrong?

I also don't think it would be a great idea to offer discounts to anyone who owns shares... for example - if I owned some shares in Tesla, does that give me the right to have a discount on a car simply because I own shares? Just because one is investing in AM does not give the right to cheaper mining - I understand that would be great, but I don't see the positive for AM when they do this.

There are 400k total shares, of which only 163,962 shares are floated by the public (PT, IPO investors, direct minority shareholders, etc). Each share as voting power; however it doesn't mean much as more than 51% of all shares are held by Bitfountain. Board members are those who hold 5000 shares in their possession, they receive minor updates on what appears to be a weekly basis. Note these updates are not significant, more like "things are still on schedule." Any board members who think otherwise is free to correct me. To all newcomers, I would highly suggest to all reading all of friedcat's posts from Aug 2012 onwards before "investing."

Hmm 13btc inbound. Any ideas where that is coming from? I thought we were only expecting the magic 25 from block rewards

That most likely means that someone started franchising at the difficulty change a few days ago, makes sense.

Fuck it, I'm buying.

Are you back....?

Hmmmm 3 blocks in last 36 transactions.  total speculation but do we have new chips running or just EXTREMELY lucky today? - https://blockchain.info/address/1HtUGfbDcMzTeHWx2Dbgnhc6kYnj1Hp24i

Nice observation... probably just luck... but one can hope Smiley

At a supposed 60 TH/s, the variance must of been extreme to find those 3 blocks by chance. March is coming around, it's about time for another announcement.

Feds getting involved, times are changing...
128  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: February 21, 2014, 06:09:50 PM
is there a havelock specific thread anywhere? my account is showing locked..................

PM Havelock, they've been responsive to me.

Edit: It would be ideal with Havelock & friedcat would post something confirming the transition from TAT management to Havelock in the next update.

It's the transition process that has people a little bit on edge.

People are on edge? About what part of the process?

The fact that it will be someone else who's doing you've been doing for awhile. So far, they've been responsive and proactive in their efforts and that trust will come over time. Also, people are reading into it too much (myself included) that a board member would suddenly stop being one when ASICMiner in the process of developing/producing hardware en masse. You've said that it was time to move on and had other projects but for the average shareholder, the immediate question was 'Is there something that went wrong?'. At least, that was the general consensus (from what I read) that many have had since your announcement.

To prove that I'm not lying? ...

Both parties knew well before the announcement.

That is not what I meant, the issue is not with you. You've done a fine job of managing it and anyone who has used the PT would agree wholeheartedly. It's the transition process that has people a little bit on edge.

On March 1, 2014, TAT Investments will transfer control of the AM1,  AM100, and SMG listings at HavelockInvestments.com to the direct control of Havelock Investments.
-snip-

Why the change?

Time to focus on other projects, house-cleaning, etc.

Hmmm, someone will find this somewhat troubling. We don't want another BitFunder & BTC-TC again.

Edit: They have been responsive so far but many of us are wary of what has already happened.
132  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: January 20, 2014, 09:05:44 PM
I would not expect an update from friedcat today.  In the past we have always gotten an update a few days after major dates like this pass, and only rarely did we get info same day.  In other words... do not panic when its the 21st and there is no news.

Those who follow this particular thread are (or should be) aware of this and any panic selling now is a sure way to lose your BTC. If you've held on for this long, no reason why a little longer will matter. Personally, I need to do quite a bit of catching up on the thread as I've been away. ASICMiner started hashing at 800 GH/s-1.7 TH/s in early February 2013 (Link) and kind of makes you wonder if he's targeting the same timeframe.

Disclosure: I still own shares
133  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 30, 2013, 04:05:53 AM
How big can the precious numbers market possibly be?

Honest question: Is $10,000 possible in 2014?
It's possible in 2013

We'll see a max of $2.5K/BTC in 2013. Any higher and even the old blokes around here will start getting worried...

136  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMiner Quarterly Report (Investor’s Take) & News [UPDATED 10/20] on: November 22, 2013, 07:45:54 PM
Update

PR & Communications
We understand that transparency and communication to shareholders and the public needs improvement. We are in the process of identifying a dedicated employee for this. We will issue bi-weekly reports for shareholders and improve response time for questions.

Next Gen Chips
The projected time of taping out of Gen3 is January 20. Power consumption target estimation is <0.2W per G on low power mode and <0.2$ per G on wafer cost. Please notice that the timeline is of course subject to change/adjust, and the estimation on power and cost is also based on software tool/simulation results.

Current Hardware Sales
The number of cubes left for sale/deployment is 9000. About 1/3 are ordered already. All older devices (USBs/new blades) are sold out.

G.ASICMINER
If nothing unexpected happens, Ukyo will provide a shareholder list to Friedcat on Dec 1, for direct shares.

I'm going to be that guy again and ask if blocks found after today's payout is just variance?
138  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: November 21, 2013, 05:01:59 AM
In the spirit of defusing this a bit, the board is going to have a meeting soon and discuss the communication/transparency issue. The last attempt to improve the situation was well intended but not followed through. This point needs clarification.

Actually, who is the current board?  TAT, Burnside and Ukyo were, as pass-thru asset issuers.  Who else?

There are a few known board members (outside of PT owners) but don't know if they want to be revealed.

Sorry for this, but could anybody post a summary?  I'm at work and my machine won't let me open the link.  Thanks.
