You can be good when you work for money , but when you work something you love you can be the best !!!

That's only true in life ! Just do things you love and things that make you happy , money , car's , houses , everything is nothing if you are not happy with your life ...
Yes, you are right... Material things are of no value if one isn't happy with this life.. But don't you think nowadays these are the actual things which get happiness from.. Whether you agree to the fact or not but it is material things which are actually more important to us..
If we go on a vacation.. we are happy
if we buy a new smartphone - we rejoice..
If we buy toys for kids - they become and so do we..

So money is very important in today's world to taste happiness..
I feel there has to be a balance between money and happiness.. Both of them are equally essential.. If you are unable to meet your basic needs, you cannot stay happy at any cost.. On the other hand, if you are running after money 24 hrs, you will be too stressed to experience happiness...

Balance is the key you see!

"Unless we conserve the planet, there isn't going to be any 'the economy'" ~ Margaret Atwood. People seem only concerned about the here-and-now and the government panders to that.
So much for Cameron promising this was going to be "the greenest government ever".
David Cameron, who once promised that if you voted blue you would go green
This is probably a misquote.
What actually meant to say was something like "if you vote blue you would be green, very green indeed"!
1204  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Favorite political figure? on: June 12, 2014, 04:52:33 PM
No one mention Genghis Khan?

why would anyone see that barbaric warlord as his favorite political figure?

Mine is Spartacus as he created an army of gladiators and slaves which rose from 70 to over 40 000 men

It's interesting how Romans forced them to kill for their own fun, and when the tables turned it wasn't that fun as they had to fight each other Smiley
His acts teach a good lesson Smiley
Yes,Spartacus,he had a lot of courage to do what he did and it that time when Romans were ruling the world..... i am curious, did they found out his real name?
1205  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Boko Haram and their reign of terror on: June 12, 2014, 04:42:16 PM
Well, Boko Haram is on the news again today. This time they just WALKED into a village and took away 20 young mothers by herding them into vehicles and driving away. What the heck?!?! What is the police & military doing? It is their job to protect the people. You would think after the school girl kidnappings, they'd have beefed up security by now but this latest crisis is just plain pathetic on their part.

It seems like the local law enforcements are utterly powerless against Boko Haram.

So this is good news? Or can their words still be trusted? Because as we all know, they just recently lied to the International community that 'most of the girls has been returned to their families' to avoid international criticism over their inaction and their lies were found out!

I don't trust the Nigerian authorities any more. Unconfirmed reports suggests that most of the girls have been taken to the neighboring nation of Cameroon, after their formal conversion to Islam. Only the International troops can free them.
I am eagerly waiting to hear a piece of good news from the country of Nigeria.. The country was early known to be the most peaceful countries in the world, a place where people where used to regard each other as their own brother, and now blood is being split at every step..

I guess it is the Government of Nigeria which should take complete responsibility of the situation!!
They are promising them better life , lots of money , and they wash their brains so they think they are heroes who are saving that country Syria or any other country ... The main problem is that they really have strong conviction methods and internet and mass spread just helped them to spread even more . None knows for sure what are they promising to that new soldiers .. but I say only educated person is not going to fall on their fantasy's .
I agree with what you said about the terrorist groups advertising their cause based on the value of valor and the lure of being a called a hero by their countrymen.

But do you know that highly educated people are much more likely to become terrorists rather than lower educated people?? This is because what the terrorists are fighting for are their ideals. Often, those ideals are highly developed and requires a complex minded individual to understand and agree with those ideals, moreover, highly educated people can easily see 'what is wrong' with the world and have a desire to change the world based on their ideology.

That is why many terrorists tend to be college or university aged young adults who are highly intelligent. Think about it, the terrorists during 9/11 even knew how to fly a plane! This takes years of intense training.

It is not stupidity that causes terrorism. But rather a fundamental trait of terrorism is intelligence. Just that their intelligence is guided in the wrong direction and clouded by grand delusions.

Because they don't feel that they are prepared to face these problems. Billions of lives would have to be changed. In order to cease carbon-related emissions in order to meet targets in a continuously growing world, the entire energy industry for developed nations has to be re-wired. Power stations don't just build, install, and operate themselves. This changes employment, and this costs money for the new facilities.

I remember 6 years ago. My best friends would come over my place every Friday night, and we would play Call Of Duty 4 all night. It was so damn fun. The memories lie with me. But sadly. They either moved, or married. I still turn on my old PS3, and play Call Of Duty 4 just to relive the good old days.

Thanks to all for your opinion.. I guess you are absolutely right... If one is talented and can showcase his skills, he is sure to be rewarded... But, I don't agree with you on the saying that standard is pretty much same all over... I guess standards are completely different in different countries..
Some countries you get appreciation too quickly especially in places where there is a shortage of labor and places where there's enough supply, it is really tough to walk up the ladder...
In UK there is a lot of opportunity and also if you will see the unemployment rate of US and UK, there is not a big difference. In US, unemployment rate is 6.3% and in UK its 6.8%. So on this basis also no one will suggest you to go to US for job without any reason.
The job market is extremely bad in the USA. With the different emerging economies, there is a demand of skilled labor in countries like Brazil, various African countries. However, many people want the comforts of working in the USA. It really depends on which field you are in.
1211  Economy / Economics / Re: Working in USA on: June 12, 2014, 11:55:23 AM
it will be hard for you to get a visa without a job and a job without a visa.
unfortunately, the amount of visas issued annually is capped.
It is extremely difficult...but then it is also extremely difficult for Americans to be able to live and work in any European country too. EVERYBODY in the whole world seems to want to live and work and/or immigrate to the U.S. Sooooo many people violate their tourist or work visas and overstay...this includes Europeans and others, not just Mexicans and Central Americans. This is why getting that visa is so difficult. The ONLY way you can work in the U.S. without immigrating ( a real long shot), is to get a contract with an employer who will sponsor your work visa. This means you need to be a highly educated professional...but the same is true for Americans wanting to work in a foreign country. All countries want to protect their job markets for their own citizens.
1212  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Favorite political figure? on: June 12, 2014, 08:09:03 AM
how many of those jobs are EQUAL (pay, benefits, etc) to what was lost.

You will find the libs very quiet on that area
2.9% of the labor force. It's in the second graph in the last post sana made

You're welcome.
Reading comprehension is not your strong point obviously.

That did not address pay or benefits.

Nice try though- clearly a lawyer in the making

What Obama and company will not do is have this question asked:

"Of those that have lost their jobs and got ones back- how many have a job situation equal or better then what they originally lost."
That figure covers underemployment, which is what you're talking about.
Also a bubble burst there has to be some correction, am I right?

"The US economy added 217,000 jobs in May. The unemployment rate held steady at 6.3%, a five-and-a-half year low.

With last month’s job growth, the US has finally recovered all of the jobs it lost during the Great Recession. (That’s without adjusting for population growth; economists estimate there are about 7 million more working-age Americans today than there were at the previous employment peak in January 2008.) "

I am about to finish a masters degree in business administration from UK and thinking to work in USA? Can anybody guide me right to the current employment conditions in the country? Few years back, companies in the country were laying off employees.. Is that still continuing ?
Firstly, why do you want to move out of UK... If there are no specific reasons, why don't you consider getting yourself a job in UK only.. There are oodles of multinational companies in the country offering great opportunities with attractive remunerations.. Give it a thought..
Your  right. UK is a good place to work at.

However, if you're still interested in working in the US, there's good news! Unemployment rate has been at an all time low since 2008 due to the government's efforts.

It has dropped to 6.3% in April 2014 from about a whopping 10% in October 2009.

So, I just gotta figure out how to make money sitting on my couch watching TV.....and I'm set for life!!! It truly is what I love to do Smiley
There are people doing that already. lol they start online blogs and write reviews for TV shows. You can also write articles about TV shows on review sites and get paid per article or sometimes they pay you for each thousand view!

There is also an app where you can make $$ watching Tv. I don't think it's enough to 'make a living off' but it's still something. Cheesy

http://hubpages.com/hub/Make-Money-Watch...s-and-Tips

You can also answer tv related quizzes and surveys and get paid for it!

Probably 50/50. That would be the best solution for me.
Ideally, it would be nice to make a lot of money doing something that you love....Although, it does seem more like a trade off these days ...
1217  Economy / Economics / Re: Investment advice? on: June 10, 2014, 04:42:07 PM
What about fix deposit or term deposit?
Some say that it is for the one who wants to play safe,at least it gives you fixed amount of profit without any risk.
Actually fixed deposits are not a very good method of investing.
This is because of a process called inflation which happens to the currency every country in the world everyday. Inflation is the rate where a currency loses its value as prices of goods rises. For example, if you needed to spend 100$ on food in 2012, but you have to spend 105$ on the exact same selection of food in 2013, that means prices have rose 5%, which is the rate of inflation because your money will you buy you 5% less of what it bought you last year.
More often than not, the rate of return fixed deposits offer you is LOWER than the rate of inflation. So you are either losing money, or if the rate of inflation happens to be low, you'll only be earning 1% to 1.5% a year at most.

I have some savings -about 50k usd- and so far I've been thinking about mutual funds and Forex and Bitcoin
Any advice/recommendations/ideas? Does anyone here do investments?
Forex is very much risky. One of my friend faced loss in this. I will also suggest to start a small business with your saving. I am giving you my own example i started my business with 0 capital, its strange but its true. But before starting any business plan it well and only after that proceed because without proper planning you can never get success.
But don't you think in today's world everything is risky... Even if you are starting a risk, that also involves a risk.. In fact, Private businesses are subject to a high level of risk...

What's your plan in case of an alien invasion???

I would probably start by getting my family and friends safe in an underground base. Then start gathering supplies and weapons to start a rebellion. Then get people to fight against the aliens or die trying.
We would just have to all gather up for a plan. the military would do the fighting. wed have to lock doors protect are self’s. keep a guard up. but how come they only work. what are they working on. well they got no other plans but to take over earth. i also don’t know why they keep themselves a secret there more powerful than us . well i would make a plan know yo be ready.

Civilization II. Back in high school when my brother and I could play till the wee hours of the morn with no repercussions.
Civ I for me. I used to fake sick in k-1st so that I could play Civ all day.
I was too young to remember what techs I needed so I had them written out on index cards so that I could go straight to metallurgy.
My best is beating it around 1000 AD.
