That's odd. My BF1 runs just fine on both my Windows 7 and my Macbook.
Have you tried with bfgminer on the same computers? Does that work?

My BEs are still visible, and the BF1 is seen but fails to initialise:
Did you try unplugging the BF1 and plugging it back in, then "probe all ports" ? Does the red light go on when you plug it in? Have you tried on a computer with only the BF1, to be sure it's not a power issue?

Try having just the blue fury plugged in. Before you start the program press the rst button near the USB port. Wait for it to go dark red and then press start on bitminter.
Ok, I tried this a few times, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to make any difference. Are you still having issues? Try unplugging the blue fury and plugging it back in. Sometimes the RST button doesn't fix the problem for me, but "replugging" works.

Not a bad idea, quite a few of these puppies out there that I suspect will be getting dumped into the hands of people that would find your client far simpler to get up and running than say bfgminer
True enough. I will have a look at it tomorrow.

DrHaribo, if I have the prepay BTC perk turned on, should I ever see any BTC in the "unconfirmed" column under account details?
You wouldn't normally see it. But it takes a few seconds for the pool to distribute funds to miners after a block is found. It also takes a few seconds after that for cash out to happen for those who are over the threshold. Have patience, and don't stare at the screen waiting for blocks - it causes bad luck

|
|
Now, I will also be using this on my MacBook. You mentioned that laptops have weak USB ports - will this be a problem?
I'm not sure. I just know a lot of people had trouble with block erupter sticks on laptops, and it worked when they switched to a desktop machine. I'm running a red fury stick on my macbook right now though and it runs just fine, even when running on battery. I get the feeling that people who use ASUS and Apple have fewer problems with hardware that doesn't deliver according to specs. Not sure if it's true or I am getting brainwashed.

Okay, I'm having a problem. I just got a USB bitcoin miner, but when I run Bitminter, it says "no external devices detected." When I try and rescan, it keeps trying to scan the serial port, not my USB port. Is there any way I can get it to run off the USB port and the miner I have plugged in there?
Which device did you buy? It's scanning COM ports because that's how some mining devices communicate, using a virtual serial port over USB.

Normally you can set work submits per minute from 1 to 20. With the easy mode perk you can set it all the way to 40. Setting it higher causes the server to choose a lower difficulty for you so you submit work more often.
The minimum difficulty is entirely up to you.
The reason you can freely increase your difficulty but the ability to decrease it is limited is because low difficulty creates more strain on the server. Having fast ASIC miners mining at difficulty 1 is a no go.

BitMinter client v1.5.0beta1 is ready for testing. New: - Added support for Big Picture Mining BF1 (Red/Blue Fury)
Please check it out: Please test whether it runs ok with Red/Blue Fury combined with BFL and/or ASICMiner USB units. Known issue: doesn't handle it well if you disconnect the device while mining. Working on this. These devices report a lot of results that are wrong. I'm not sure yet how to best handle that. Right now it looks a little crazy with all those bombs. I guess I could always show zero errors. But what if the device actually isn't working?
|
|
|
Edit: Allows you to mine at reduced difficulty by setting a higher than default target for proofs-of-work submits per minute
Is there a con to this perk ?
Mining at lower difficulty you use more bandwidth. 1x BitFury Red Fury USB (BF1)
I am working on the red fury support right now. It's taking a bit longer than I anticipated.

Hello, I just recently joined your pool. I'd like to use BFGMiner to mine on your pool but after giving in url, username and password BFGMiner just closes, no error. Using BFGminer for BTCGuild works flawlessly.
This works for me: bfgminer -o stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u user_worker -p X

Just to be clear, the mint race is open to anyone. The bit about the KnC reseller deal was just to explain where the Jupiter is coming from. I don't even know who bought through the reseller link. But it's because of them that we have a pretty awesome prize. fix poolluck -.-
Super mario goes BLING! suxxer and stimbo appears to have fixed the problem.

Ayrat, now running with 11 TH/s, got a block shortly after increasing the hashrate. It's only 12th place (15th now) but I think we will see more blocks from Ayrat.
bitmeme on the other hand finds a second block and moves into first place. The best hash by far.
But we are not even 10% into the race yet. Anything can happen.
|
|
|
Whoa! Ayrat is suddenly pushing over 10 TH/s. Not many can keep up with that kind of hashrate. Things are getting interesting. The third page is showing positions 12-21 rather than the expected 21-30.
The last page just shows the last 10 blocks, even if some of them were already shown on the previous page. I'm nowhere in the list Needs more Jiggawatts!
