1281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why use bitcoins when my dollars are working just fine for me? on: July 07, 2014, 02:28:25 PM
I don't use dollars because:
They aren't backed by anything
They can be used to buy drugs
They can be stolen
1282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Winklevoss Bitcoin Trust {COIN} on Nasdaq OMX [Video] on: July 07, 2014, 12:29:50 PM
My prediction, this will fail within 5 years.
Why 5 years?  Likelihood is that if it survives 6 months, it will survive indefinitely
1283  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 07, 2014, 09:49:55 AM
It looks like we could sky rocket at any moment

Few users are claiming this from like half of June? And it didn't happen yet...
Well Bitcoin is unpredictable.  I think there is no question that it feels as though this is a lot of tension right now that could give way to a major price rise.

Does anyone know if a bitcoin/oil chart exists?
1286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin Story (console me) on: July 07, 2014, 09:28:14 AM
With all due respect, why would anyone want to take YOUR advise?  By your own admission you failed as an investor.  Wouldn't we be better off listening to someone who was actually successful?
Ever heard of learning from mistakes?  Roll Eyes

Just because he made a few bad decisions - and only bad decisions in hindsight - does not mean he cannot provide sound advice.

Hey I would be interested in taking part. Looks like fun!
1288  Economy / Services / Re: How to accept fiat donations in BTC on: July 06, 2014, 08:48:43 PM
But when converting BTC to fiat there is often an immediate need for cash flow.  When its the other way around, you are better-off converting in batches
I know you're right. I'm just trying to figure out how to avoid paypal…
I admire your commitment to the cause  Grin
1289  Economy / Services / Re: How to accept fiat donations in BTC on: July 06, 2014, 08:43:02 PM
I just think it would be nice to accept payments in other currencies and have them auto converted to BTC - like how BitPay does it, but the other way around. Wouldn't it be better to get businesses accepting cash through an intermediary and only receiving BTC?

And while the tumbleweed was rolling past, we so very nearly saw the $10,000 bitcoin, albeit only in one wee corner of the internet and presumably because someone was drunk, misinformed or pushed the wrong button.

It wasn't such a long wait after all.
I wonder if the Chinese can use this as an excuse to dump?

1293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Here's Scientific Proof that Bitcoin is just before Major Adoptation on: July 06, 2014, 12:17:30 PM
today only 0,1 % know what bitcoin is but we made alot progress in the last 1-2 years, no doubt. thats means, we are all early adopters  Wink
Being the 0.1% would still make us innovators  Cheesy

He had lots of accounts and a gpg signature that were known to be controlled by him so people could simply ask for verification that way.
The media would not ask for it.  Not that I want to give anyone any ideas, if someone came forward not many outside of this community would question their claims.

Short video. What are people's thoughts on this? Do you guys anticipate a "panic" occurring at some point?
Any sane person should prefer a currency backed by science over a currency backed by nothing

Will this to trade soon, will this trust forced to buy more bitcoin if there are great interest?

Hopefully yeah. I hope it's so popular that they are rushing out to purchase more.

i guess their "little" bitcoin stack will be enough for the first 4-6 months but they have to get more  Cheesy

4-6 months??

even if shares start at $130 a piece (equivlent to $650 bitcoin value)... its only $130mill cap... did you see how fast the caps of other IPO's reached over $130m..

i can see them shares being bought up in days. especially if offered cheaper than 20% of bitcoin true value
Yup I would not be surprised if they are already pre-sold.  This has been coming for over a year now
