1301  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Racism is a real thing (this thread is extremely racist) on: February 09, 2016, 08:32:43 AM
Race does not exist, it is an invention by people who lack the intellectual capacity to see people as individuals and treat them that way.

We are all individuals, your ancestors do not define what you do and how you live your life. You do. Stop using some dead people that do not exist as some sort of reflection of your current character. You make your own choices and have to live by them.

When pressed to put my "race" on some form I usually refuse but when absolutely legally required I put Native American. Because I define my "race" based upon myself as an individual and I was born in America and I, as an individual, am native to this land. I respect my parents for their upbringing but my actions are my own, not theirs. Nothing my ancestors have done are anything I have done unless I choose to do them myself. There is no pride nor shame for the actions of my ancestors or any race/country/inventor/slave owner/slave of the past who also happens to share common ancestors.

I am an individual with my own thoughts and ideals.

Race is not a bad thing by itself.
It's a good way to categorize the genetic specifications of an individual.
What's bad is to think that races are important over the evolution, and thus the judgement, of an individual.
Races are just a tool for scientists, biologists and doctors. Not a way to judge individuals.

If you took the DNA of millions of people you would not be able to scientifically assign a race based upon combinations. And even then, what use would it have at all?

Yes you would. In fact you should.
It's important because each race has its own specification, some are more weak against some diseases than other, some have more chance to developp specific physical problem etc... (for example black have fewer chances to develop skin cancer).

Again, it's an important tool mainly for medical purpose and research. There is nothing bad in it.

Specific DNA structures have different physiological weaknesses and strengths. If you define a race as combination XYZ and Y is weak against a cold, and someone else of race ABC. You might have WMNXYZ while someone else is ABCGPY, both different races but both still vulnerable to that disease. If you're going down to the DNA level, stay at the DNA level. Don't try to group individuals on broad factors that will not work for everyone.

Meh?
I'm not trying to "group individuals on broad factors that will not work for everyone.".
I'm just explaining how race classification actually works in the medicine and research fields.
You're trying to ignore a fact that is currently saving lifes. Ask any biologist or medical researcher and he'll tell you it's an important parameter to take into accounts.

Don't try to make me say what I didn't say. Not saying that it's easy to categorize everyone in one and only race and it's absolute and only a question of DNA categories...
It's a question of statistics in the DNA genes that are common or not in a population.

With such individualized data, the DNA and computers, it's inefficient to try to create some race based upon DNA combinations when a computer can handle the different sequences easily.

Seems like you don't understand what he's trying to explain:

It's not that it's efficient/normal/whatever. It's an ACTUAL tool they CURRENTLY use. That's all. The over whole scientific community IS using the races concept for research and medical purpose.
If you disagree, ask them why. But they do.
1302  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people hate islam? on: February 09, 2016, 08:30:27 AM
...
Merkel's WWII guilt caused all of this.
Maybe maybe not.  Maybe she was subtly influenced, overtly bribed, blackmailed or otherwise influenced by Saudi or middle eastern influences.

You know I think it might be WWII guilt because we saw similar policies of re-settlement of Jews and German Russians in exile.  They were taking them left and right, no matter what.  I personally know of many Russians who went to Germany on fake paperwork.  No word of German, no German ancestry.  They opened the gates to Jews similar to what they are doing now to Muslims.

Problem now is that they will have to integrate them into mainstream society.  And we all know how flexible Muslims and Christians are.  The rate of this influx will be a problem.

Well, at least in part, these questions can be tested.

Political party XYZ let in a large number of (refugees, immigrants, blah blah blah).  Did they let in groups which by way of their inclination, would vote for the party who let them in?

That's the larger part of the answer.  Strict self-interest, hiding of course under a robe of pure altruism.

That's extremely cynical.
And probably not far from the truth.
I never thought about that. But that's true that if party XYZ let a massive way of immigration in, and let them the right to get the nationality and thus the right to vote, they more or less automatically win this massive way of migrants as new voters which are rather secured for their political party.

Never thought about that. Maybe. I don't hope it, I'm not sure of it, but maybe it's a point for them :/
1303  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Facebook, Twitter, Google To Censor Immigration Discussion in Germany on: February 07, 2016, 10:00:23 PM
the situatio looks tense in Germany

Tell that again to all those poor german women.

Well they're not really that numerous... It's not the most important in all that I think. (Though each case is tragic)
But yeah situation is fucking tensed, and not in Germany but in whole Europe.
In France currently, emergency state has been declared and is active and is going to be even longer than the original length.
1304  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen if there's no price rise for the halfing? on: February 07, 2016, 09:56:58 PM
If the price doesnt rise then the miners stop mining because of  lack of profit, Once this happens the network becomes less secure and bitcoin starts dying off. Whats to stop this from happening?  Maybe we are getting to prices that cant be maintained with the current user base. I wasnt here at the last halfing and the price will need to be much higher so im not too sure what will happen.

Miners have more coins then everyone else so they are the one who define the price (they won't sell if it's not profitable for them)  , beside ... logically Bitcoin price is based on Supply and demand , so It's impossible for the supply to get halved and the demand stays the same or rise and nothing at all happens to the price ...

Not on the long term for sure, cause it's effectively a supply demand market.
But if it's on the short term, it could have no or very small effect and thus massive dumping would be the direct consequence -> decrease of price!

laosai and bargainbin

500 euro notes would be useful in paying hotel bills for tourists.  Tourists MIGHT be able to convince some hotel owners to charge them less by offering to pay in cash (no 3% CC charges).

Illegal crimes?  Crack down on the criminals!  Put them in jail (ahh, how many "Rapefugees" are now in jail, hmm?).  Criminals commit crimes?  Catch them and lock 'em up.

Don't restrict our freedom.

I mean I understand what you're saying but honestly, we (Europeans) absolutely don't care about the 500€ bill.

Nobody uses it! I never saw one in my whole life! And I'm not poor, just not using thousands of euros in cash xD

I think that's also for that reason that government are starting to question those bills. Just because they're not used, not at all.

They are used everyday, it depends in which country you live.

If you're a used car dealer, or a shop selling electronics goods in Germany, they have customers paying cash everyday. Also some auctions houses don't accept anything but cash, so if you buy something costing €5,000, €500 bills are handy.

Really? Well it's fun, cause it's really uncommon in France for example.

Well I bet that if it's rather largely used, no point in forbiding it then =)
1306  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 07, 2016, 09:53:26 PM
You can't win, smallblockers. It doesn't matter who you DDoS or what other dirty tricks you pull, when the market tanks, the miners will switch to big block code.

From the graph Andre pointed at, I don't see the point of going to 2Mb.

It seems like growing at 2Mb won't change anything, it'll grant only a few months/years of time but not much more.
1307  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do Atheists hate Religion ? on: February 07, 2016, 09:51:30 PM

Dude, you're not only a bigot but also a grammar nazi? It's perfectly clear that it's you. It's also perfectly correct: "god kills you himself"

It is not perfectly clear: "God kills you himself".

It is not clear if the object is you or himself.

Best regards.

It is.

-Imagine the object is "you" then himself refers to god so perfectly correct and full of sense.
-Imagine the object is "himself" then wtf does "you" refers to? If himself was the object you wouldn't have any sense.

Conclusion: "you" is the object and you're not good in English. Which is not important unless you try to tell people how to write.

Then what "himself" refers to?

That shouldn't be there.

Best regards.

To God...

God kills you himself. It's the same thing as "God personaly kills you" or "God kills you with his own power".
Just a style figure to insist on the fact that God is responsible here.
1308  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Proof that God exists on: February 07, 2016, 09:49:15 PM
Firstly, I am not an imposter behind a supercomputer.  Just some guy behind a ten year old single core junkbox.

This thread has so far concentrated on the stupidly obvious tests of "is there is big tooth fairy bloke in the sky with a big grey beard and a magic wand who can cure herpes and everything else that is wrong with the world" which of course there is not.

I direct posters to consider not "is it literally true that the abovementioned god exists and will cure my herpes if I go to the dirty whores and then put enough penitence in the collection box to cure what I got from them" but instead consider "is it operationally true that god exists; such that if I live my life in the best possible way, god will have arranged that the globally best possible outcome occurs"
That is, god does not smite the wicked for the convenience of the devout in almost all observable circumstances, but he might sometimes send one cosmic ray to tweak the DNA of a virus if doing so ends a line of horrible whoreloving sob bad-guys and improves the next thousand years of history for everyone else.  The argument for "does god operationally exist?" is then "out of all the cosmic ray tweaks which could have been made, did he do the best one?"

Well your new statements ignore the fact that God is omnipotent.
If God was omnipotent he wouldn't have to do "the best possible one" as everything is possible to him. That's at least what the Christians/Muslims/Jews are trying to make us believe.
1309  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iran Mocks Saudi Offer to Send Ground Troops to Syria on: February 07, 2016, 09:47:10 PM
Bravo Iran! The war in Syria is not a civil war, it is just another US driven regime change war. Remember how we  improved Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya?

Lol, it's not going to change! We could make a betting game on the next country will be fucked up by USA xD
1310  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do Christians hate Atheists? on: February 07, 2016, 09:45:58 PM
Who said they do? I just hate bad human beings who may belong to any religion/caste/country/etc. It doesn't matter.

Believe in whatever you want as long: god or no god. As long as you keep it to yourself and not force it on anyone.

Agree here. Never force one's own opinions on others but I've seen both groups doing the same.

Thanks. The thread title shocked me a bit too. No need to force the choice between love and hate. Most Christians don't give a fuck about Atheists.

Shuuuuuuuuut Galdur...

It is ALL coincidences if we're breaking every records concerning meteorological events and temperatures.

It would have happened anyway no?  Roll Eyes

Where is the proof of the link with pollution CO2 and human activities? Apart from the entire world scientific community even if they perfectly admit they have legitimate doubts concerning the extent of such impact due to the incredible complexity of such a system. They still all agree on the fact that we're going to bite the dust. And Nature show it too.

But better continue to consume and pollute and destroy the gift of God.

I don´t know; maybe we´re heading into an ice age and scientists and experts will in due course figure out that CO2 emissions in fact cause cooling. The attention span of modern man seems to be on par with that of the common housefly so most people probably wouldn´t even notice the switch.
Well, hard to deduce the consequences of something so complex.

What's sure though it's we gonna hit the consequences the hard way. And those idiots will just be there freezing or burning "where is your proof, it's just normal weather"
Deduce the consequences?

It's a system that mathematically exhibits chaotic behavior.  You don't "deduce the consequences" or look for linear trend extensions in such a system.

Statistical averages exist, sure - but what of the Maunder Minimum, and the Medievel warm periods?  These indicate longer term trends, 300 to 1500 years.  Statistical averages and "outliers" presume a background without such trends.

If we are headed toward a mini ice age, face it, warmers.  The slight effect of human induced warming through CO2 emissions is GOOD, not BAD.

Wow. So limited understanding of a complex system.

Ok I'll try to explain it to you:
CO2 warms the Earth
Average temperature increases
Ice melts
Salt concentration in oceans changes
The incredibly complex and fragile system of warm circulation is blocked
Greenwhich dies
We enter an Ice Age

That's the theory. Not saying it's true, in fact NO ONE is saying it's the absolute truth, but it's a theory supported by multiple experiments and being backed by most global warming specialists.
The important fact is that yes you can freeze the Earth with CO2. That's possible.
No, I don't buy it one bit.  In fact, what you have posted along with your disclaimers, makes almost no sense.

Hate to say it, but it's just more of this totally bonkers "If it's cold it's due to Global Warming" nonsense.  Blame everything on one factor through some twisted logic.

So let's go at it again.

1.  Cyclically, we appear close to the beginning of a new ice age now.

2.  An ice age consists of sheets of permanent ice moving south in latitude from the North Pole, and north in latitude from the South Pole.

3.  Increases in global temperature prevent that, decreases accelerate it.

4.  Allegedly, man is increasing global temperature in significant amounts.  The extent is disputed ("No temperature increase in 20 years" at present)

This is not complicated.  Please don't hide behind "it's complex" and "maybe it's not true" and other stuff, while at the same time trying to maintain a condescending attitude.  Doesn't work very well, right?

Ok so you just ignored any major change in the way that heat is stocked... Great great great...

You wanna know something? The heat of the sun is not rally important, it's relatively quite a low energy amount compared to the one stocked in the Earth. Even if tomorrow the sun would just stop heating... Well it wouldn't be really bad for at least a few days. And life would remain for still thousands of millions of years (though maybe not humans xD)

The important part is HOW is the warmth distributed. And that's why Ice melting and greenwhich are important...
that's crazy talk.  Within 48-72 hours all the carbon dioxide would be falling as snow, then the nitrogen would liquify, then the oxygen, then the surface would be a vacuum.  the only life left would be spores, virus, other things that can survive in a vacuum at cryogenic temperatures.

The heat from the sun is over a kilowatt per square meter, of which about 1/4 makes it in to the surface IIRC.

Regarding this ridiculous statement you have made...

yes you can freeze the Earth with CO2. That's possible.

You have not proved this and cannot.  You are saying outright that something can get hotter because it gets colder or colder because it gets hotter.  But at the same time you want to claim that if it gets hotter it gets hotter.  Well, make up your mind, please.   You want to be able to claim that your predetermined outcome will occur no matter if it gets hotter or colder.  This is nonsense, and it ignores the basic facts regarding climate.

Namely, we are currently in the Holocene Interglacial.  Period.  Look at the historical record of ice ages and warm ages, please.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_age

Sorry I wasn't really clear, I was talking about the surface temperature which is mainly due to degradation of radioactive elements inside Earth.
But for sure the consequences on the atmosphere would be much stronger.

Thanks for the link. Here is, in a better English, exactly what we tried to explain you:
"Another important contribution to ancient climate regimes is the variation of ocean currents, which are modified by continent position, sea levels and salinity, as well as other factors. They have the ability to cool (e.g. aiding the creation of Antarctic ice) and the ability to warm (e.g. giving the British Isles a temperate as opposed to a boreal climate). The closing of the Isthmus of Panama about 3 million years ago may have ushered in the present period of strong glaciation over North America by ending the exchange of water between the tropical Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.[47]

Analyses suggest that ocean current fluctuations can adequately account for recent glacial oscillations. During the last glacial period the sea-level has fluctuated 20–30 m as water was sequestered, primarily in the Northern Hemisphere ice sheets. When ice collected and the sea level dropped sufficiently, flow through the Bering Strait (the narrow strait between Siberia and Alaska is ~50 m deep today) was reduced, resulting in increased flow from the North Atlantic. This realigned the thermohaline circulation in the Atlantic, increasing heat transport into the Arctic, which melted the polar ice accumulation and reduced other continental ice sheets. The release of water raised sea levels again, restoring the ingress of colder water from the Pacific with an accompanying shift to northern hemisphere ice accumulation."

So yeah, making it hotter will change salinity which will change ocean currents which will influence the beginning of the Ice Age.

I have only one question for you:

Do you believe Mohammed flew to heaven on a flying horse?  If you do, why do you believe such nonsense?

All religions are basically nonsense. That's even in the definition of religion as religion is based on faith and faith is belief based on nothing but hot air.

Ne manevrirui, manya. Most of people can be categorized in a one of major races.

nd the fact that again, it has been proved that the environment is much MUUUUUUUUUUUUCH largely more important than the genetics.
Citation needed.

Oh and you're talking a lot about IQ of white and black, but do you even know what it refers to? Why would it be important to have a high IQ?
Oh man, I feel sorry for you. You are even more stupid then poor african children with IQ < 80.

Definition of IQ:  a score determined by one's performance on a standardized intelligence test relative to the average performance of others of the same age

Standardized. That's the important word. Standardized.
