1322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My bet is on Litecoin (EDIT: now listed on GDAX!) on: August 24, 2016, 04:51:34 PM
The recent rise in price of Litecoin was probably because of the news about GDAX, but in fact the price dropped after they listed it. Anyway, its too early to say, but I still believe that Litecoin has a good future and currently it can be considered as a "safe bet". In my opinion, Bitstamp would list it too, because I feel they are in need to expand their business. Maybe Litecoin won't affect their trade volume at the start, but still...

Damn, that sucks hard. I hope those LTC were acquired in the sub dollar, low cent value ranges? Otherwise you got screwed really bad. You have no interest in restoring some of that bag?

Not really. I can tell you the story. Smiley I started to work with a russian investor back in the late (before the pump in November) 2013 when I convinced him to buy 6 GPU's and we started to mine Litecoin (about 1.5 LTC/day). Then I saw Fedora (TIPS) and I thought it will have a very good future. I was able to mine between 130 and 180 million coins/day with my 2.7 MH hashrate and I was happier to sell them for 1-2 litoshi on CoinedUp (when it was listed). Then there were MOON, EARTH, NOBLE (can't really remember all Smiley). When TIPS was listed on Cryptsy, I had about 250 LTC and several hundred million TIPS. We had a chat on CoinEx trollbox and several guys agreed to try push TIPS to a BTC pair. I participated with 127 or 137 LTC, but my "wall" was eaten in like 5 seconds. Cheesy TIPS in fact is one of my biggest mistakes in crypto since I accumulated about 3 billion coins, but most of them were sold in the 1-8 litoshi range (the peak on Cryptsy was ~170 litoshi, and you probably know that Fedora was pumped by the chinese few months ago). Anyway, back in March 2014 the russian has agreed to buy scrypt ASICs and I started to research the market. He had one condition though - NO pre-orders. We have send a guy to the KnCMiner office in Stockholm, Sweden, but the guy said that only the cleaner lady there can speak swedish and that they looked shady. Then I have send my cousin to the MAT's (Mining Asics Technologies) office in Maastricht, Netherlands and he first told me that we can buy the ASICs right way. I went crazy since the russian decided to invest 50,000 euro and MAT were selling 200 MH miner for like $11k (if I remember correctly). But then my cousin had a second meeting in the MAT's office and they changed their stance. After that I had several phone talks with the owner (Mark was his name?) and I told him that we were not joking and we are ready to pay 50% more for the miners if we can buy them right away. That never happened and after some time MAT declared bankruptcy. In late April, 2014 I found a guy from Rotterdam, Netherlands (heya, Jeroen! Smiley) who was seling 60MH A2 Terminator's for 6,600 or 6,800 euro. I told him that we can prove that we have the money to buy 7 miners (420 MH), but we first wanted to travel to the Netherlands, see and test the ASICs and then pay. He agreed to order 3 and we aranged a meeting on 19 May, 2014. We travelled to Netherlands with a car, saw the guy, tested the ASICs, had some drinks and travelled back to Bulgaria (I am bulgarian). When we received the remaining 4 ASICs, we were able to mine between $1000 and $1500 worth of crypto in a day. We started a company called Cryptoventures LTD. and the russian was ready to invest millions if I convince him that this is working. Here is when he made a mistake though. He appointed his Forex broker to work with me. The russian offered me 1500 BGN salary (average salary in Bulgaria is about 750 BGN, but if you include our capital (Sofia). Many people in the province are working for 400-500 BGN/month) and 30% of the profits (but after we make ROI of the investment). The broker had the obligations to tell me what and when to buy/sell. My job was to make sure that everything is working and to follow cryptocurrencies (i.e., I was the one who was choosing what to mine). But after several months (and bad results), the broker was fired and I started to work alone. That was until early this year. I told you that my salary was 1500 BGN, but several months after the broker got fired, they started screwing me with my salary. This month I receive 1000, the next one 500 etc.. (they were paying me 500 BGN on every 10 days), so at the end, they owed me 6000 BGN (~$3400). I have then said "Enough" and left them with the miners, coins and everything.

P.S. Here I must say that the russian had nothing to do with my salary. He has many people working for him and one of his bulgarian companies were the ones who were taking care off the "crypto business". So, basically, I was screwed by a fellow bulgarians. Cheesy

That's it... Smiley

Check out GDAX.com, it's live already...

Check out the #Litecoin hashtag, I was among the first who announced it (after GDAX, of course). Wink

Looks like it is going to be listed on GDAX... in a minutes....

https://twitter.com/TuurDemeester/status/768132261728296960

Litecoin will see $10 before this year's end, that is FOR SURE.

BUY now while it is still cheap!

Hey, what's up? Changing stances again? Cheesy

Stop being a troll AND JUST BUY for fucks sake!

If you have even tiny amount of brains, you should be taking a $50k loan out RIGHT NOW (perhaps use your parent's ID if you're below 18 years old because you sure behave like it!), and margin 20x long on OkCoin. You'll be a millionaire within 2 weeks and you'll be able to pay the loan off before your parents even notice you ever got one!

CHIKUN ARISE

ARISE CHIKUN

Litecoin Moon !!

Am I the one who said that?:

Litecoin will NEVER see $10 again. Why dont people learn.
Litecoin is an absolute SHIT COIN.
Its features, the roadmap, its stability, its longevity etc. DONT FUCKING MATTER.
The only thing that matter is that its a TOXIC unpredictable SHIT COIN for Chinese gamblers.
I am 110% confident it wont even see $6 within the next 24 months.
Litecoin is only good to make quick profits. But the majority of LTC promoters are BAGHOLDERS who will never realise this.
These faggots are crying their eyes out RIGHT NOW because they thought LTC would ''moon''. LOL.
Charlie Lee, the creator, is jerking off to his new USD precious fiat gains RIGHT NOW because his brother's exchange, and the other Chinese exchanges which are in on it together with Charles, just made MILLIONS because of LTC fags.
Litecoin sub $3 before this week's end. LOL.
If you have even 1/5th of a 3-day old's underdeveloped, fragile brains, you should be SELLING your shitcoins (aka Litecoin) right now before the MEGA DUMP.
The mother of all LTC DUMPS has yet to come.

Holding LTC and trolling like that (probably with the hopes to lower the price and accumulate) makes you even more pathetic. And no, I'm not under 18, but thanks for the compliment.

P.S. DO NOT talk about parents here!

I'm with you, LTC is going to go and take off again!

I already loaded some before the price started moving again, will be interesting to see what acutally happens! I still really like litecoin somehow, was my first altcoin and it is the one that is sticking the most to the bitcoin idea, only in a fresher coat.

I don't really think that an exchange listing is going to provide a sustainable price increase though, probably only a small pump and that's it then.

I once had over 18k, but that was until my investor screwed me. I now have 0. Cheesy

P.S. Nobody is talking about prices here. Should I remind you that Bitstamp is a major European exchange? Smiley
1332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / My bet is on Litecoin (EDIT: now listed on GDAX!) on: August 23, 2016, 05:22:14 PM
It's an old news, but apparently GDAX are going to list Litecoin in the next few hours: They listed it about an hour since the thread was launched!

Yesterday was the 5th birthday of Bitstamp and I allowed to myself to tease them a bit. Smiley

https://twitter.com/FAILCommunity/status/768066144125251584

Currently LTC is approaching 690k satoshi (~$4). Something we haven't seen since last June, but we all know what happened back then. One can argue if Litecoin is going to be listed TODAY, but I'm quite sure that Bitstamp should do it (forget about my tweet, it could be a good business decision). LTC is still @ a relatively good price and I believe it could be considered as a "safe investment".

P.S. Charlie Lee didn't paid me 0.0001 LTC to post this thread.

Cheers,
Spartak

OP would have made about $285,000 profit (calculations were made @ $5.30/XMR). But enough bumping old threads and you (the Monero lovers) could just create a new one. Smiley

You should post this in their thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=889481.1700), or PM the developer.
1335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What makes a cryptocurrency (alt coin) valuable? on: August 23, 2016, 10:25:18 AM
utter nonsense

the main driving force behind all 'pricing' in cryptoland including Bitcoin is nothing more then the simple economics concept known as "the greater fool theory";

the greater fool theory states that the price of an object is determined not by its intrinsic value, but rather by irrational beliefs and expectations of market participants.

I make the distinction between "greater fool theory" which is, as you rightly say, a belief system where you think that you will find greater fools than you, that are willing to spend more goods and services on a token than you do on one hand, and "same fool theory" which is the basis of a monetary asset, where you believe that you will find similar fools than you, that will spend about the same amount of goods and services on the token than you want to do.

In as much as "greater fool theory" has to collapse, because not sustainable, "same fool theory" works, because it is sustainable: you can appear many times in the chain in same fool theory, while you will of course not appear several times in "greater fool theory", so you will run out of fools.

That's the difference between a speculative bubble (greater fool theory) and a monetary asset (same fool theory).

Don't like the 1-word comments, but... TOUCHE. Cheesy Will add that I completely agree with dinofelis and kiklo. I have repeated countless of times (and I stand strongly behind Charlie Lee's opinion that a cryptocurrency does not need gimmicks in order to succeed) that people are the ones who are giving the value, not the tech. That is why I believe that everything must be explained in a simpler manner, rather than using fancy roadmaps and whitepapers (which, of course are needed, but you need more than that to bring the average Joe on board).
1336  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for Forex trading Investor on: August 23, 2016, 09:44:45 AM
Well, you may be legit, but this is not the way to get you funded. You'd better talk with some friends or ask for a bank loan.
1337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin developer offers a $10k bet to a LTC troll :) on: August 23, 2016, 09:31:32 AM

Oh look, I changed my position to bullish yesterday and suddenly out of nowhere Litecoin price rose and Charlie Lee announced ''good news''.

Yes, yes... all coincidence Cheesy

It rose, because it was Monday. Smiley Its normal for Bitcoin and we all know what Litecoin does when BTC start rising (though there is some decline now).
1338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FailCommunity's FailCoin | Please help us to choose a new community logo on: August 23, 2016, 09:23:28 AM
Hello,

Yesterday I had a conversation with our lead developer Panoch and we discussed the PoS part of FAIL. He insisted that our next release must be worthwhile and that is why we are going to try to put as much of the latest tech as we can. In the last few days I am researching VeriCoin, while Panoch thinks we should use BlackCoin's fork. Here comes the bad part, there is a 99.9% chance for FAIL to be hard forked. Sad I am thinking about a way (which I still haven't discussed with our team members) to avoid that, but as of now there is nothing worthy to be shared with you and ask about opinions.

Today is the 25th birthday of the World Wide Web. You can tweet to https://twitter.com/timberners_lee (the inventor) to express your gratitude, or you can just retweed ours: https://twitter.com/FAILCommunity/status/767998927891234816

Now something about our current situation.

The hashrate (as we speak) of FAIL is 1.58 MH. I'm not sure what to say about that. There are a lot people out there with some dusty gridseeds, which have low electricity costs. What are you waiting for? We are going to make the new release and we are going to try develop our cryptocurrency and community with or without you. That I could guarantee! But you are making things harder! Its not all about profits and that is why we are at the current situation. Put some hashrate, help us, and who knows... you may make some ROI. At least you will try and isn't what cryptocurrencies are all about? Working/helping for a greater (than us) good?

The situation with the block explorer is pretty much the same. Only one donation (from an indonesian member of the FailCommunity FB group), worth 0.005 BTC was made. Personally I have send more than 1 million coins (which represents like 4.8% of the entire supply) for free. Probably 20-30% of them to people, which were late for the swap and I wasn't even asking them for proofs. We can pay for the explorer, its not a big issue, but I think we should see some efforts from other holders or just people who like us for some reason. Would you rather us to make a team meeting, discuss some "marketing" strategies, buy 150 accounts, pay for exchanges and reap as much money as we can? Then we could just say "Oh, well... it was a FailCoin after all."... I'd rather die (so does any of our team members... for that I'm sure...)!!!

Here's the link to the explorer: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/fail/
Here's the Bitcoin address: 1BBhk24CBNZqixmcrgJMg9pdqtHHNdhiwS

We are still trying to create our new FailCommunity logo: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1555342.0. I will repeat to those of you who forgot (or just don't care) that we are going to try to develop ourselves as a community with a cryptocurrency. FAIL has its niche (look at the FailArmy channel on YouTube - over 11.3 million subscribers and 3+ billion views) so don't rule us out.

Thank you for your time,
Spartak

I won't even bother reading your entire comment and I don't expect you to get it either. He's an obvious LTC troll and whats even worse, he tends (as I pointed out) to change his stances. I believe that many people would agree with me.

Cheers,
Spartak
Agreed.

OMG, the ETH criminal has agreed! Cheesy

Don't pretend to be smart.. Be smart.

I am trying to be smart by reading the part of your comments, which deserves to be readed, and those who are referring me. I feel no need to be taught, or to explain myself, and that is why I stop reading comments at the moment I feel that I won't learn something new.

Fixed the link for you. Yes, there are strong suggestions that Litecoin is going to be listed on GDAX... TODAY! (current price is $3.74, time is 03:37 am EST - just for reference)
1340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin has the best PoS solution? on: August 23, 2016, 06:03:41 AM
For now: A POS algo should be ideal for services that are fine with a centralized solutions. Services who needs a slightly better efficient sql database and can afford/care less to have their data immutable. Services that will keep their POS blockchain private. Just like services use something else to communicate inside their infrastructures, that the outsides dont see.

How about replacing bank interests (just an example)? Lets assume that you have some term deposit (i.e. holding your coins in your wallet) and you receive some interest. Then lets compare miners in PoW (only) currency with a security company, which is transfering money from your business to the bank. In the first example, you are less secured, because you are holding your funds "under the mattress" (the security is up to you and you have no expenses on it). In the second example, you are more secured, but you have expenses (the "miners" are "securing" the "network" and they are "finding blocks" (i.e. come to your business) every 6/12/24 hours). Of course you can always take your funds to the bank by yourself with relatively small expenses, but in this scenario we are talking about security.

P.S. My example applies to a "stable" currencies. We all know that not "moving" your money (i.e. to invest and such) is a bad decision and with the time they are losing their value.

In POW, one can mine it or buy it (2x entries). In pos one has to buy it (1x entry). This along reduces the strength to keep the distribution decentralized by half. and thus increases the ability for it to be gamed in free market by double.

I can't accept this as a valid argument. Its like saying that the financiers around the world are more than the average Joe. That won't be a issue if you have wider adoption and better distribution. I think that we can all agree that majority of the people using cryptocurrencies are not familiar with the mining process.

Again, in my opinion, from what we have seen so far, a POS coin so far can only do this if it can beat POW to the ANNON market. ANNon is still not claimed yet and we know there will always be a demand. If a POS blockchain can achive it, then we might actually finally see a POS coin with a serious use.

I don't think that the annon market is what will make cryptocurrencies successful. We all saw what happened with Monero after the news about AlphaBay. Smiley

I deliberately skipped part of your comment, because I created this thread in order to discuss the "best" (so far) solution to PoS, rather than compare it with PoW.

Cheers,
Spartak
