I do not see ETH on Cryptopia ?
1. Go to https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Balances2. Write ETH in the search bar at the top-right corner of the page; 3. Look for Ethereum at the list and click in Deposit ETH (first green icon right next to it); 4. Send your ETH to the address on the screen.

I stupidly transferred a few XVG's from an exchange to an Electrum 2.4.1 address. Look like this version of Electrum no longer connects to the server it has set (stays offline).
Is the latest 3.0.6 compatible with those old transactions address or is this transaction lost?
Thanks,
SB
There is no Electrum-XVG 3.0.6; You are already using the latest version (2.4.1). Electrum for BTC is the one at version 3.0.6 Try to use one of those servers: e1.verge-electrum.com (ssl Port 50003, not 50002) e2.verge-electrum.com (default ports, ssl=50002)

Would you accept to buy my BTC for your PayPal (~$200)? I'm new to PP so I don't know if there is any risk involved. Does anyone have the update on what each level can wear on their signature?
Thank you!
Other than that (Jr. Member can't have links in their signature), everything is the same. Perhaps the allowed signature styling should change with activity score / membergroup. Like: - Newbie: No styling (including links) allowed. Max 40 characters. - Jr. Member: Links allowed. Max 100 characters. - Member: Unlimited length. - Full: Color allowed. - Sr. Member: Size allowed - Hero: Background color allowed
Then newbies will be less effective advertisers, which would hopefully significantly reduce the incentive for low-content posts. And when people become capable of effectively advertising through their signatures, they'll have invested a lot of time into their accounts, and they won't risk being banned by spamming.

Do you see the address at Settings -> Addresses -> Archived addresses?
And did Blockchain generated that address for you or have you imported it (shown at Imported Addresses)?

Thanks for your reply. By "vendor lock-in" I mean that I cannot export my private keys out of any hardware wallet.
Yes, I am paranoid. I sign any transaction offline but I still have to trust the software producers. I don't want to trust.
You can[1], but it's not recommended. However, if you are going to use your wallet with the private-keys outside the hardware wallet device, why even have one in the first place? Your best choice would be to have an air-gapped computer with an offline wallet and a watch-only in your main online computer. [1] Just get your hardware wallet seed, and in Electrum go to File -> New/Restore -> Standard Wallet -> I already have a seed -> Paste/write your seed -> Options -> Check 'BIP39 seed' -> Next.

Thats a new threat level that I havent though of yet. Is that possible? Can you really combine different alphabets in the address bar? I have never seen a Cyrillic address or any other alphabet except latin letters. Maybe some other users can give us some more info
You may want to check this reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/7ykzar/be_careful_of_spoof_exchanges_would_you_have/A quick comment about the issue: URL spoofing is a very, very serious problem. The fact that you can even use other non-latin alphabets such as Cyrillic in URLs, results in ultra-sophisticated scam scenarios that are almost impossible to detect. quote: "It is possible to register domains such as ‘xn--pple-43d.com’, which is equivalent to ‘аpple.com’. It may not be obvious at first glance, but ‘аpple.com’ uses the Cyrillic ‘а’ (U+0430) rather than the ASCII “a” (U+0041)". The technical term for this is Homographic attacks.
Although most major browsers have a way of warning users, it only works if the URL uses a mixture of alphabets. source
How to protect yourself: FYI there is a way to shield yourself somewhat from these attacks. Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/punycode-alert/djghjigfghekidjibckjmhbhhjeomldaFirefox: Go to about:config and search for punycode, set network.IDN_show_punycode to true You can use for example this link to check if you are protected: http://www.umeå.se/ On Firefox the address bar will display the punycode, and on Chrome with the plugin it will show an alert on the bottom right corner. These are what I use, if someone else uses another browser and know other tips, share them! source

For some reason I got an email with a different reply from you saying talk to Trusted Coin and see what they say - maybe you wrote an initial post then edited it? I did talk to them and they resent me the QR code which is what I needed - so thank you for your reply even though it's not appearing in this forum.
Yeah. I made this post before knowing Trusted Coin can do that (since there is no mentions about contacting them in their website). I also remember sending a PM about talking to Trusted Coin to a few users. You must have been one of them

Oh.. the irony... P.s: you are replying to a post made in 2013.

I hate reCaptcha as much as you. However, theymos made a poll back in October asking users "What do you think of the forum's usage of reCaptcha?" and nothing has changed since them. I probably won't make changes in the near future, but I've been thinking about the captcha issue, and I wonder what people think about reCaptcha.
Where reCaptcha is used now, something is required, and AFAIK all other captcha services can be OCRed and are therefore useless. End-users often like SolveMedia, but those seem really easy to OCR. I actually really like the image classification approach on a theoretical level, though I hate relying on NSA-lite Google, and occasionally on Tor they throw you into some insane black hole of difficulty (though you can change your Tor exit to fix that).

My merit(s) are finished, i gave them all but i want to give more, I am a quite new member and also new in the crypto world, I am learning a lot from the forum and i would to express "a thanks" to those that they help me with their posts and answers
Is my account going to get more, let's say in a month, like an upgrade or it's one life things? No more at all ?
Read the thread... You get 1 sMerit for every 2 merits you receive. Other than that, there is no other way to receive sMerit.
sorry if this is already answered but you know we have 157 pages here, there is a way to know the overall unspent Merit here on forum? (maybe only for active member to get a more realisic number)
Theymos said that he distributed about 600k sMerits across the forum. At the time I'm writing this post, 75724 merit has been sent in total across the forum[1]. Do the math and you will get an approximate number.

And why would you put money in there? 90% of all the people in here, even all those newbies who are always posting the same shit knows that bitgrail is a giant shit who is scamming everyone.
At the time people thought BitGrail was a reasonable exchange. If you wanted to buy Raiblocks/Nano, BitGrail was the place. The XRB team even promoted and recommended BitGrail as the best place to buy XRB. The other issue is that people were trying to take their money from BitGrail for weeks. Their withdrawal system only worked a few days each month. So even if you didn't want to keep your coins there, you didn't have any choice.

You should post bitcointalk by your senior position account. Also you should added how much money you want to sell this account.
Because if he post with his *supposed* Sr. Member account, both accounts will be tagged. And a tagged account is worthless. Or maybe because he has no account and it's just trying to scam someone. If you really own a senior account, why have you been posting with this newbie account over the past 3 months instead of your sr account?
Farming accounts? Or the above ^
However, even if he is really selling an account, his posting quality must be shit, so you can't really join a signature campaign. And if anyone finds out, you will be tagged aswell.

@mjglqw It's difficult to tell from that article or the reddit report by the user exactly what happened. But yes I agree it is most likely down to the user not knowing what they were doing. That was the point of posting it here really.
That's what happened: "The Ledger came with a recovery sheet which had a 24 word recovery seed, to see the seed I had to scratch off the silver foil/paint that was covering it." Source by OPWhich should look exactly like this: The device itself is probably safe to be used.
