14321  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinizy Debit Card on: August 13, 2017, 09:48:57 PM
I had a card with Coinizy and I couldn't use it on PayPal.

From a previous post of mine:

Be careful from Coinizy/Kardaz, I did deposit money more than 24 hours ago and they are still not deposited. I did send them email and until now there are no reply.
You hould have checked the last replies on their thread - or at least made some research about them.

I did the same mistake as you last month and actually managed to spend everything that I had on my card. But I went through a lot of issues, like my money vanishing from the card and appearing 6 days later after submiting a support ticket and getting refused on almost every website that I tried - just like this guy.

WTF is this service ?

My card is credited but it is refused everywhere I tryed it. Despite what's advertised it doesn't work where it should. And last but not the least, no support and no way to get Bitcoin back.

Consider it a SCAM.

Maybe wait a few days to see if you get an answer? They seems to be super shady but they still "work" after all. Just try to spend your funds asap and don't use it again.

As you can see, I said that the card was refused on almost every website that I tried. I wouldn't use them after all.
14322  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: unconfirmed transaction on blockchain.info on: August 13, 2017, 08:08:35 PM
Your transaction will very likely never get confirmed, since it has a fee of 0 BTC.

Wait a few more days until the transaction gets dropped by the mempool and you will be able to send your coins again. Just use a fee next time -
preferably a fee of at least ~130 satoshis/byte or ~200 satoshis/byte for a faster confirmation.
14323  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Im New to bitcoin but know alot, only need help With a little question on: August 13, 2017, 07:03:30 AM
Hello.

This is a normal behaviour for a HD (Hierarchical Deterministic) wallet. Every time you receive a transaction in the shown address, your wallet will mark it as "used" and your wallet will generate a new one to be used. This doesn't mean anything for the older addresses, so they will keep working and you may reuse them forever.

This happens so you can have as much privacy as you can. Every time you want to receive a payment, it will be a different address. So, people can't track those addresses and link them to you as easily as if you use only one address.
14324  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to use Trezor Wallet step wise on: August 13, 2017, 05:59:49 AM
1: Is there a step wise instructions how can i transfer BTC from my blockchain.info account to Trezor.
I honestly don't see why would you need this.

It's so simple that even a kid can do it. Just create your wallet on Trezor, get your Bitcoin Address, click on "Sent" on Blockchain.info and put your address there + amount you want to send.

2: Is Trezor safe if i keep this for next 5-10 years.
Even if it wasn't, once you create your wallet, you will receive clear instructions on how to backup your seed phrase that can be used to recover your wallet in case of hardware malfunction or any other issue with your device.
14325  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Good wallet to store USDT ? on: August 13, 2017, 04:00:54 AM
You might be able to store them on a local wallet (probably available at Tether's website), but like any other "fiat storage" it is subject to third party risk. In this case the owner of Tether. If, say, the USA didn't like what Tether is doing, and seized their bank accounts, how much is that USDT going to be worth? It'll dump hard.
Something close to that already happened actually. According to Tether itself:

Quote
Since April 18, 2017, all incoming international wires to Tether have been blocked and refused by our Taiwanese banks. As such, we do not expect the supply of tethers to increase substantially until these constraints have been lifted.
https://tether.to/announcement/

And who said that you having Tether means that you have USD, and that you will always be able to redeem your Dollars when you need it? I honestly wouldn't trust my money on them.

14326  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk Account price estimator on: August 13, 2017, 03:15:44 AM
Interesting website. I just tried it out, how long should I wait for "request is processing"?
It should take something close to 1 or 2 minutes if there is no queue.

But the software appers to be facing issues. It wasn't working a few days ago and now it's returning that my account has no posts, no activity, and no addresses posted in non-quoted text.
14327  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed Balance on: August 12, 2017, 10:44:04 PM
ELI5: A fee is required for every Bitcoin transaction sent. The bigger the fee, the faster it will get confirmed in the network.

The person who sent you this transaction has probably put a fee that is lower than the normal. This means that you will have to wait until the transaction gets confirmed, which may take a few days depending on how much was the fee.

Which wallet are you using? Get your transaction id and search it on Blockchain.info - you will be able to see how much was the fee in the bottom of the page. e.g: In the picture bellow, it was paid a fee of 6 satoshis/byte which is super lower than the average and it will end up taking a lot of days to get confirmed.

14328  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] NiceHash.com - sell & buy hash rate cloud mining service / multipool on: August 12, 2017, 07:30:07 PM
Since this payment problem started, has anyone received a payout from NH?
They are actually paying. That's not the problem.

The problem is the WAY they are paying. If you check any of the last transactions sent by NH to their users, you will see that all of them are being sent with a fee of 6.165 sat/B - which is way lower than the average. And because of that, transactions are taking days to get confirmed.

Some of them already got confirmed, but most are still pending.

34c7d957fce453406640898dc4aa25e1976c74fa0f05fc92883c60f46cc9cf0d - confirmed
34c7d957fce453406640898dc4aa25e1976c74fa0f05fc92883c60f46cc9cf0d - confirmed

If you guys start trying a little bit to research and read what Nicehash posted, instead of screaming "scam", you all would have seen this:

Quote
The issue was that the transaction fee, which is automatically determined by BitGo - our wallet provider, was set at optimal level accordingly to the bitcoin transaction fees market at the time of the transactions. However soon after transactions were created the spamming of Bitcoin network began once again and bitcoin transaction fees significantly increased – making the applied transaction fee too low for the payment transactions to be confirmed fast. This significantly increased the time, needed for particular transactions to get confirmed. At the moment of this press release only approximately 5% of the total number of August 8th payments transactions are still left unconfirmed.

Please note that we are working around the clock with BitGo as well as with some major Bitcoin pools to make sure that all transactions will get confirmed.

14329  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to claim my Bitcoin Cash from my Electrum wallet on: August 12, 2017, 05:18:15 PM
Unfortunally, you can't.

According to the Exodus FAQ[1], you can't simple import a private key. They only allow you to "sweep" your coins from an old address to a new one recently created in the Exodus wallet. This will only move your Bitcoins to a new wallet and leave the BCC behind in the old one.

Quote
IMPORTANT NOTE: This does not actually "import" the private key. It just moves the funds from the address into Exodus. This is because Exodus uses one 12-word restore phrase to restore all funds, so to be able to restore funds from the 12-word phrase Exodus must do this.

14330  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blocks fees to be rewarded to the next block's miner? on: August 12, 2017, 03:30:14 PM
This spam wouldn't be so profitable anyway.

In the actual situation, how can you be sure the block will be mined by you? Miners would be paying thousands in fees but without any guarantee that they will mine the block and receive everything back to them.

If most of the blocks are mined by one or two individuals, and they are sure that they will receive everything spent in fees back, they would also be sure that the next block will be found by them, which means that we wouldn't be safe from malicious miners anyway.

Quote
That way, malicious miners would be no longer interested in including lots of txs paying lots of fees on a block to raise the "recommended fee", because they can't be sure they will be lucky and mine the next block to get the fees they paid back. It would no longer be profitable for them.
Neither they know if they will be the ones finding the current block.

14333  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: August 12, 2017, 05:36:06 AM
I want to ask a question can someone with this vanitygen random generated addresses or any other generator while trying to reach the address he want end landing on someone else adderess and private key , so i enter my wallet to find someone had shared it with me and for sure spent my coins ??!!

i think i understand your question.. if you made a bitcoin address say 1btc or something, and used it, how possible is it to try to make that same wallet again?

the simple answer is very not likely.

while you can make other addresses start with 1btc.. you will never find exactly the same one twice.

I would say for sure that it's almost impossible. Otherwise, Bitcoin wouldn't be that safe anymore right?

"To obtain the same address, the result of RIPEMD-160 hashing would need to be the same. Probability of that happening is 1 in 2^160.

In simple terms, if you were testing against 500k patterns at 25/Mkey a second, it'd take about 25 quadrillion years to get a few collisions. Factoring out the randomness of course, as the nature of randomness entails that it could take 2 seconds or 2 sextillion years.

Even if you put all the calculating power of the entire bitcoin network on it, it would still take 10^12+ years."
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/7676/what-are-the-chances-of-vanitygen-address-private-key-pair-collision

Does this still work? Haven't used it in a while.
Yes it does.

Just used yesterday actually.
14334  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is exodus wallet safe? on: August 12, 2017, 12:37:17 AM
If you notice here and there the site you are mentioning needs to be updated and fresh content added. It's a little an old website with information displayed not really updated
Not really. Actually, the last commit to the website was made 5 hours ago. You can see it here[1].
The thing is that someone needs to make a Pull request with Exodus added, so they can review the wallet and maybe consider adding it.

Btw, I don't think Exodus is open source. Which IMO makes it even harder to the them getting on that list.

14335  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Made a mistake on: August 11, 2017, 11:46:06 PM
I was trying to send btc to another address. But mistakenly sent it to my own address using the same wallet. Is it possible to send bitcoin from your wallet to your own wallet using the same account, if yes what will happen to the coin.
Which wallet service/software are you using? You should be seeing an "incoming transaction", since you are receiving Bitcoins from yourself.

Regardless, if you just sent coins to another address that is inside your wallet (and that you have control), you will be able to spend them normally.

Bitfinex can go to hell.

What am I supposed to do with my portfolio on Bitfinex?
Withdraw and stop using it? It's not like they are immediately locking every US customer from using their services and just stealing their funds.

14337  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitaddress.org - wallet question on: August 11, 2017, 08:02:05 PM
'Only if you only want to use your address once.' - isn't it how it should be? I mean, satoshi himself recommends obtaining new address (which means gaining new private key too) for each transaction in order to ensure safety and anonymity.
In this case, you should create a HD wallet, which will generate a new address for every transaction you do.

It's also not mandatory to use multiple addresses. You can use only one if you want.

Quote
You could possibly go to bitaddress and access it offline every single time with your private key, but it's a hassle to do that.
How to do that? I need to go to 'Wallet Details' section and enter private key there? And also, how to check btc balance using public key/bitcoin address?
This will only show the details for the address belonging to that private key.

You can check your balance by going to a blockchain explorer like Blockchain.info or live.blockcypher.com and searching your Bitcoin Address there.

Thanks for the response. I tried this method, but when I have to select which coin I want, Bitcoin Cash isn't listed.

I tried selecting Btcoins, but the address I sent the BTCs to doesn't populate. Am I missing something?
Try to go to the "BIP32" tab in the "Derivation Path" section and write:

M/44H/0H/0H in the "BIP32 Derivation Path" field.

See if you manage to get it to work.
14340  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to withdraw cash money from a BTC ATM with a desktop Electrum wallet on: August 11, 2017, 03:36:16 AM
-snip-
Mycelium for Android, and Breadwallet for iOS are good choices.

"Sweeping" is the process of sending all your funds available to another address. Unlike you importing an old address to a new wallet, sweeping requires a transaction between two addresses, since you are sending coins over the blockchain.

Is the same as you going to the "send" tab of your wallet and sending every Bitcoin you have to a new address. There is nothing special about this process.

When Should You Sweep a Private Key?

You should sweep a private key if someone else has or will ever have access to the private key (like if someone gave you a paper wallet or the private key was published online). This will prevent a thief from ever being able to spend the bitcoins associated with it, even if they have or ever get access to it. If the private key (or paper wallet) will be used again in the future then you can keep it and sweep its contents again once more bitcoins are sent to it.

If you’re still in doubt of whether to import or sweep a private key, you should probably sweep it. It solves many of the issues that can arise from doing an import.
