At a meeting of Premier League Shareholders today, clubs discussed possible steps towards planning to resume the 2019/20 season, when it is safe and appropriate to do so.

It was reiterated that the thoughts of all are with those directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, the Premier League’s priority is the health and safety of players, coaches, managers, club staff, supporters and the wider community.

The League and clubs are considering the first tentative moves forward and will only return to training and playing with Government guidance, under expert medical advice and after consultation with players and managers.

The League welcomed the creation of the Government medical working group for a return of elite sport, which met for the first time this morning.

No decisions were taken at today’s Shareholders’ meeting and clubs exchanged views on the information provided regarding "Project Restart".

It was agreed that the PFA, LMA, players and managers are key to this process and will be further consulted.

The clubs reconfirmed their commitment to finishing the 2019/20 season, maintaining integrity of the competition and welcomed the Government’s support.

Nothing we didn't already know or expect.

Aguero probably has an agenda because he knows City can’t win the PL. I think he probably would mysteriously be happy to play CL football because City have a good chance to win that.

Well, it's a legit observation. However, more than half of the clubs in the league have nothing to play for anymore.

If there was not the issue of huge money on the table, 15 out of the 20 clubs would probably vote for the season to end. The only thing making them finish the season is the broadcasting money.

The PL clubs will probably get that money regardless of what happens. The PL will likely be obligated to pay them it unless they have a contract that says otherwise. Can't imagine it's a well we didn't get paid so you can't either sort of deal.

Everything will depend on clubs being able to create a “return to play” protocol that is approved by the government and its heath advisers. That is thought to include plans for players and officials being placed in lockdown at nominated hotels for up to six weeks. Each one would then travel to the stadium along a “sterile route” from the hotel before being tested. Every venue would also have strict limits on the number of people allowed to be present; some estimate that a minimum of 300 including officials, staff and media would be required at every game.

Does anyone think that this sort of stuff just isn't realistic? Staying at hotels and travelling sterilised routes? I think even if things did go ahead like this it could easily end in disaster. 300 people at a game minimum? That seems like a lot. I was thinking there'd just be the teams, coaching staff, match officials and a handful of staff for the venue and TV broadcasts. I'm struggling to see how they'll play anything unless the virus dies down drastically. You can sterilise the hotels and balls all you want but that doesn't stop the players from sweating, breathing and sneezing on each other. Will be kind of ridiculous if they're wearing face masks. If things are still that bad then they probably just shouldn't be playing as much as I'd like to see play resume.

The Premier League has advised its clubs, including Manchester City and Manchester United, to ensure that their players are back in the country as football looks to step up a return to action.

How did any of the players get out of the country in the first place?

This is how bulshit spreads. Some random guy on the internet knows a guy

Can't imagine PSG will be happy about missing out on the CL if UEFA ban teams from leagues that finished early. I'm sure there will be lots of legal action/appeals taken. Maybe leagues might end up getting restarted instead of cancelled. To be honest, it makes sense just to pause everything until things blow over.

Yeah, I really don't get why the rush to end things, it's not like leagues can resume 20/21 seasons in July anyway, why not just wait and see instead of just calling it off? Can't quite understand.

Most people, fans and clubs alike, seem to think pausing the league is the best option. It could be a while before it's safe to do so, but football isn't going to be cancelled forever. Just resume when they're able and carry on as normal.

Read also this piece of weird news about a lot of players in England being uncomfortable with training. Surprising if true, given just how many of them look like they can't wait to play again and all those breaking curfew and what not.

I can understand their concern. Most would or should be worried about their health more than anything else. I think even if things do restart it could lead to something bad happening which shuts it all down again. All it would take was one of the players to contract it or pass it on and then half the team could get it. What then?
1384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING ]: Fury vs Wilder III in Las Vegas on 18th July 2020 !!! on: April 30, 2020, 10:26:13 AM
You know guys this fight is all about money, and not the real fight for who is stronger among them.
I'm not sure if you are watching the fights, they are fighting to prove who is stronger but they also like to make money at the same time, otherwise, they would not spend their time trying to train to prepare for the fight.

They're not fighting for free. Boxing is like any other sport and money has ruined it. Sure, you're fighting for glory but it's mostly about the money these days and taking the biggest payday you can get. Imagine this, what fight do you think a boxer would take? Getting offered $250k to fight arguably the best boxer on the planet in their prime and possibly lose, or take the potentially easier money fight worth multiple millions? Obviously the biggest fights usually are with the best, but fighters usually go with the biggest paydays regardless of who they're fighting. There will be fighters who will want to fight people like Fury and McGregor purely because they know it's going to come with the biggest payday of their lives, even if they know they're no match for them. Heck, I'd even fight either of them for the money I'd likely get. I'd probably be knocked out with the first punch but I'd wake up with a lot of money in my bank account so I can't really blame them.

Wilder is just trying hype the people, he keeps on trashtalking to trigger Tyson to fight him but I doubt there will be a fight from these two this year coz corona virus is on the surface, even the Olympics is set to delay due to the disease so we should be talking E-sports at the moment, it is more feasible to happen.

As Natalim said, Wilder doesn't need to do anything as it's a contractual obligation which he's not going to turn down because it's probably the last and only chance he'll get to win the belts back. It will be interesting to see what happens with the next fight if Tyson loses because he probably will want a rematch clause also so we could be set for yet another fight, though maybe they could agree on a no rematch clause to stop this, but I think Fury would be silly to do so just in case.

Thanks  man, i really appreciate a lot. Actually i was hoping to reach out to everyone this crisis, share experiences we are all having during this pandemic lockdown and lastly try to build my activities perhaps if am able to get a merit. My girlfriend introduce me to the forum this year and she gave me a target of what to accomplish before may if not my relationship depend on it, i know she just wanna make me a better version of myself.
From my private inbox.
Imagine if your relationship depended on bitcointalk merits

His "girlfriend". Sounds like a bullshit excuse to me to make out like he's not begging for merits and he's trying to guilt trip you that his relationship depends on it. If anyone's relationship depends on getting merits from this forum then that person probably isn't worth being around, but I don't believe what they're saying.

That is a bit horrifying, but its considered impolite to publish other peoples' PMs.

I'm not the first one and not the last one. This is why we also get tinder screens of private messages etc. If you took this serious and not for fun then go away, we don't need "the politically correct police" here.
I can post all my PMs if I want.

People usually release tinder messages when they're incredibly sleazy or laughable. That message would probably fall into the latter. I think in 99% of cases private messages should remain private, but of course this is the internet and if you're potentially worried about something embarrassing I really wouldn't send it digitally, especially not to a stranger, and in this case I do think that message is BS (and probably spam).
1386  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 30, 2020, 10:05:03 AM
I do completely agree with your point, doctor stoppage will take away the glory of a hard fought victory
and i am sure none of the fighters wanted that to happen, the situation with Masvidal is that he is fighting for a really long time, you can watch his backyard brawls in Kimbo Slice videos and had many split decision losses and this is the first opportunity for him to fight for the title and he earned this opportunity and became a start after 15 years in the sport and if he keeps on delaying that he might miss the title opportunity he is waiting all his life.

But on the flipside how many fights are they going to miss out whilst they're waiting for the big one? Fighters can fight easy three times a year easy, but these days you're lucky to get one fight a year from one of the big guys. I think I saw an interview with Dana a while ago where he says they're contracted to offer them at least three fights per year but the fighter can turn them down, but they don't get paid if they do. Masvidal could easily fight Diaz again (or someone else) and then take a bigger fight when one becomes available. It's not like these big UFC fights are put together on a whim and there's months of planning before they're fully announced so there's plenty of time for fighters to recover and get ready for the next big fight.

I am sure Dana White created the BMF belt for Nate Diaz and he might have expected him to win and if that happened he wanted Conor McGregor to fight Nate Diaz in a trilogy for the belt on the line and it would have been epic but Masvidal derailed all his plans  Cheesy. Another problem is that it is really hard to negotiate with the Diaz brothers and Dana White is vocal about it in the media.

It might be hard to negotiate with them but Nate would be a fool to not take another fight with either Masvidal or McGregor. I don't know what he's doing for money right now but UFC fighters usually can't afford not to fight for prolonged periods of time and aside from the Masvidal fight I don't think Nate has done anything since Connor. Connor's biggest potential fights right now would surely be either Masvidal or rematches with Diaz & Khabib. None of them would be easy fights for him though.

The news recently surfaced in my inbox,

https://news.bitcoin.com/craig-wright-claims-satoshi-nakamoto-never-used-bitcointalk-to-communicate/

Don't know how to react! The court case seems to taking unexpected twists and turns!

You react like the biggest bullshitter you know has just told you another load of unbelievable bullshit without any evidence whatsoever. You ignore it or question their sources. Whatever Craig Wright says you should probably believe the opposite. Craig is only saying this bullshit because he obviously doesn't have access to that account, never has and never will, and will never be able to provide any evidence of owning that account so this is just another distraction tactic and excuse as to why he can't do something that the real satoshi would obviously be able to do very easily.

After all this bullshit is over I really hope CW ends up where he belongs and that's in jail.

What if we all just stop giving this lunatic what he wants - attention? I don't know if it's right to stop calling him out on his bullshit though, but I feel like crypto enthusiasts are the main thing that still keeps him afloat somehow, in a weird way. Let him destruy himself on his own terms

Well I would agree, but this is bitcointalk where anything vaguely related to bitcoin is posted about numerous times and in numerous configurations and formats. It's pretty slow for news these days so this sort of stuff is going to be talked about. There's also seemingly quite a few people who think he is or may actually be satoshi so that doesn't help either.

Well the bolded part could means alot of things, lots of options to consider. They could stop the league as it is or continue the league behind closed doors

I wouldn't expect alot even if the league start without any crowd at all. Alot of players are staying at home as well and they are not as fit as they was so it could be kinda lame to see they play without any intense training as usual

Well it means that they need to have a plan in place on what they're going to do. If they don't meet it then there will probably be repercussions. I think the majority of people want the games to play on even behind closed doors but that's easier said than done as it's the government who can either allow this or shut it down. They seem to want to get the league going as soon as possible as well but it needs to be safe for everyone involved. They also wont want to give the impression of double standards to the public as it will cause a lot of issues if the country is still in lockdown meanwhile football is allowed to be played.

In response to the they want to cancel everything comment, I got this from a reliable guy I know personally,

Quote
Mate of mine in the championship is back at training being told they have to play behind closed doors for remainder so don't believe all you read

Nothing is set in stone and things can change. But again there are very conflicting news and reports saying the opposite to each other.

I've got a reliable source that says he knows someone who says bitcoin is going to 100k. This is how bulshit spreads. Some random guy on the internet knows a guy who knows a guy who says they're back at training so that must mean everything is going to go ahead. Even if some teams are back at training in some capacity (which I'm sceptical of) that doesn't mean the league is going to restart. If the players have been told something then everyone else would also know about it, especially the media. If something had been decided then it would be out there. It's not like it would be a secret either.
1389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: April 29, 2020, 11:37:13 AM
It seems Ligue1 and Ligue2 will be cancelled with PSG 'probably crowned champions'.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8264577/Ligue-1-CANCELLED-prime-minister-demands-no-football-played-August.html

I have no idea how will UEFA react to this, Belgium was the first country to cancel the league but UEFA said they will not let clubs into european competitions if they do so they cancelled that decision.

Premier league looks likely to continue behind closed doors soon but things like these are also important - if most of the countries cancel their leagues, UEFA will not be able to ban all clubs from Europe.

It's a tricky situation. Cancelling leagues is just going to open up a whole new can of worms in my opinion with teams who feel like they're missed or will potentially miss out on something. Even if you crown the current 1st place winners it's still unfair to everyone else.
Even given the fact that Liverpool and PSG would have been unlikely to throw away their strong leads, it was still technically possible and that leaves all the other teams who are fighting for the European slots and teams fighting relegation and also promotion. What to do about them?

EPL is planning to continue season, but what if government simply won't allow to do that? French and Netherlands leagues also planned it, but their government decision forced them to end season at current phase. And situation in this countries looks much better than in UK. Meanwhile in UK number of new cases still aren't getting smaller. I'm afraid that such scenario as we saw in France and Netherlands is possible.

Well that's the big thing holding them back. If the lock down lasts all year or even years then it's probably out of their hands.

Christ, French league really is ended along with Dutch.

^  If the league won't resume at around June at the latest, chances are..  I really think it could get cancelled.  So they have to decide now than just wait around.

Anyway...  I feel weird today.  Like this feeling of butterflies in my stomach.  Anxiety?

As I said in the other PL thread UEFA has given the domestic leagues a deadline of May 25th for plans to be announced on how they're going to restart. I wouldn't be optimistic if they haven't started by then. Still not sure if they'll outright cancel the whole thing though. will likely cause more problems to be honest. They should just postpone it for as long as they need then restart when possible.

1391  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: April 28, 2020, 12:22:58 PM

June seems very optimistic to me. I guess it all depends on when the government says it's ok for sports to resume but I can't see that on the horizon anytime soon.

It was nothing more than a sugar talk to the fans. It was merely there to keep the fans to hope more for the return and also as well as to keep the atmosphere for premier league alive. Alot of expert predict that the whole pandemic could end on June/July but to get back everything to where it was could take back to almost 6 months

I dunno. I'm sure that's what they're genuinely aiming for. Fans will get even more annoyed if they keep giving dates that they can't keep. It also seems UEFA have given the domestic leagues a deadline for the CL and EL league spots:

The Premier League and other European leagues have been given until May 25 by UEFA to provide plans to restart their season.

European football's governing body has issued guidelines to all 55 associations after an agreement last week that qualification for next season's Champions League and Europa League must be decided on 'sporting merit' this season.

The guidance, issued by UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and UEFA general secretary Theodore Theodoridis states: "National associations and/or leagues should be in a position to communicate to UEFA by 25 May 2020 the planned restart of their domestic competitions including the date of restart and the relevant competition format."

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52439018

Quote
The league is hopeful of a potential 8 June restart and finishing at the end of July to fit in with Uefa's European competition plans. This would require full training to begin by 18 May.

I think things would start to fall apart if they miss those deadlines. Maybe sports will be allowed to be played behind closed doors by then but I'm still sceptical.
1392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Collection Thread] Series and films in which Bitcoin (or Altcoins) appear on: April 28, 2020, 10:30:51 AM
Bitcoin was a part of a sub plot in the HBO series Euphoria where one of the characters asks how it works so she can start accepting it for online payments. They at least briefly sum it up fairly well to the laymen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nQG6soZa0E

Bitcoin was also very briefly mentioned on the Netlix series Safe, but it was just a passing comment and not really related to anything. I had to turn the subtitles on because I wasn't even 100% sure he said bitcoin but just coins, but the subtitles confirmed it. It was in episode 5 at around 19:08: https://www.netflix.com/title/80201500

I'm sure I've seen a couple of other films/Tv shows the past year or so where bitcoin has been mentioned that hasn't been noted in this thread but I'm struggling to recall them.
1393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 28, 2020, 10:11:56 AM
The head strikes Nate Diaz took is the reason his eyes were swollen shut and to fight against Jorge Masvidal who is not tired nor taken much damange and Nate Diaz to fight without seeing the opponent is too dangerous as he could injure his eyes permanently, just remember the Michael Bisping situation as he lost his eye during a fight and he never regained that vision fully. It is a dangerous sports even though it is entertainment for the viewers and fans and hence i respect the doctors decision, if he fight was conducted elsewhere then the doctor would have approved carrying on with the fight, the rules in New York are a bit strict than the rest of the places because they have witnessed boxing deaths inside the ring and after those events they take these seriously.

I don't disagree with the stoppage, it's just not a fully fair win in my opinion even if Masvidal was winning or dominating. Masvidal should have at least given him the courtesy to finish the fight properly. If it was an easy and dominant win for him then there should be nothing to worry about in a rematch. Anything can happen in a fight though. Most people seem to think the first Fury/Wilder fight Fury was winning up until he got knocked down and was nearly KOd completely and that's all it takes. You could be dominating a fight 100% and then you get stung with a killer blow. It looked both Diaz and Masvidal were interested in the rematch but it was Dana who seemed like he wasn't interested, more likely because he was dreaming of bigger fights involving them and McGregor or Khabib.

Quote
Dana White "not interested" in Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz rematch
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBnqRqvePTM

I had the same reaction live.  But then, watching the replay..?  As much as I would've loooved to see the match go on, it was the right stoppage

As above, I don't disagree with it, it's just a shame when it happens. I had similar feelings with the Fury/Wilder towel throw in. I could see why his coach did it, but I like to see fights out wherever possible. Obviously the health of fighters is paramount but that's also why I like to see rematches if there's not a clear winner. Fights going to points is always frustrating as well, especially when it's close.

June seems very optimistic to me. I guess it all depends on when the government says it's ok for sports to resume but I can't see that on the horizon anytime soon.

^^

I don’t think the games (behind closed doors) will be free on TV & why should they be? Sky & BT have already paid for the coverage & have existing contracts with the PL.

So true. There is not any reason to broadcast them for free as there are existing contracts signed.
And after all, TV channels and teams want the EPL to start again in order to earn money from that. It is about getting money - as it is an industry - it is not about entertaining people for free.

On further reading what I think they mean is that all the games that wouldn't have been shown on TV will be shown free to air and likely Sky and BT will keep their TV rights for the games they were already allocated (assuming they're ok with that). Because the games will likely be behind closed doors it makes sense to show them on TV so at least fans can watch them. Since no tickets will be sold they could probably get away with showing the 3'o clock games as well since showing them on TV obviously wouldn't effect ticket sales given the circumstances. I would be surprised if they do show them free to air though and not sell the rights to someone, though maybe it would be good for the nation and promo for the sport if everyone could watch the matches.

The Premier League is ramping up their plan to resume the season at the start of June in an operation that has been titled ‘Project Restart’, which will see a host of temporary changes made to the beautiful game in the wake of the coronavirus crisis. A ‘festive of football’ style schedule is being devised which would see the remaining 92 fixtures played in quick succession at neutral grounds, with a number of games show on free-to-air TV in an effort to bring some positivity back to the nation. But the format of the Premier League will not be the only thing that is tweaked, with fundamental changes expected to the way the game is played in order to incorporate social distancing – both in training and matches – and protect the safety of players and staff. From an increase in the number of substitutions allowed to preventing players from holding each other on set-pieces, here’s what to expect when football finally returns…

I mentioned before that it would be a good idea to play the Champion's League like on neutral grounds this but seems the PL are also considering it. I doubt the league will resume by June though. That seems very optimistic. In another article yesterday they said they won't restart until they get the go ahead from the government and that seems likely it'll be a long time before they do that.

Charge 10k for a replica shirt and £100 for a hot dog. Prices probably aren't that far off for food. It's been a last time I went to game but mini pizzas were like £5 or something.

Must be some kind of gourmet game meat mini pizza. Makes me feel still "grateful" I can get steamed chickpeas and a street burger for less than 40 cents back home. The cheapness of the stuff in my mouth is unique, but reminds me people still can afford a ticket to escape the world for a little while.

Depends whether you class Chicago Town microwave pizzas as 'gourmet' as that's what they literally were selling. They usually cost £0.50-1.00 each if you buy them from the supermarket.

Hahah, this is some funny journalism.

Although I'm sure Newcastle's owner will find a way to pump money into the club, the lineup in which Mbappe is surrounded with Dembele, Almiron and Longstaff really made me laugh.
Yes, you can have money. Yes, you can even spend it freely. But no - you cannot pair Mbappe with Almiron, Moussa Dembele and Matty fucking Longstaff. Not even in Fifa anymore.

I expect FFP rules to be more lenient and Newcastle to take maximum advantage, but even like that it would take them 5 years to assemble a team decent enough to challenge the top 4.

They can't be more lenient on some clubs than others. They're there to stop this sort of thing where wealthy owners buy a club and just buy the title by pumping money into them. There's pretty severe punishments for teams that do break them like City found out, but they probably should go further. No doubt City will manage to wrangle their way out of them as well.

@hilarious that is a brilliant idea. They probably don't even need to do it without stirring the Toon hornet's nest. Just pump the prices of hospitality tickets, pump the price of VIP tours off-games, pump every possible prawn-sandwich-catering package and they could really get themselves a nice pocket of change to get their dream team.

if they want, they'll find a way around how to bypass FFP. I still not understand, how PSG buy Neymar (and Mbape) in the same transfer window. Some of his sponsors pay a big percentage of transfer cost. Same situation with Ronaldo's move to Juventus.

I expect that it will bring some prominent names which have an expired contract, plus there will be cheap players because of a pandemic... Things can be fine for Newcastle, maybe only a new low oil price can ruin their plans.  Wink

There's many ways you can easily bypass the rules. Teams could easily do deals with brands/companies where they get the sponsors to pay the players a lot more as part of their sponsorships. There's always loopholes in any business and smart lawyers will come up with new ones all the time.

There are other good fights also, as main event Ferguseon vs Gaethje

Cowboy and Petis on the undercard?  Shocked Either way, a surprisingly very good line up of fights assuming half of them don't drop out or it gets cancelled. I wonder what bouts Dana is trying to line up for the fight island because I would have expected some of these fights or fighters to end up there. Maybe we might see a big fight there after all... unless Dana is just going to go with fights in Florida now. Still really hoping he does the island thing as it's at least something different.

No thanks  Grin. I'll never understand watching e-sports or VR games.

Diaz only lost via Doctor stoppage. They should rematch that fight but Masvidal doesn't seem to want it even though it would be the right thing to do. I think the Diaz trilogy fight would be one of the biggest fights McGregor could take right now outside of a Khabib rematch but there's more chance of the Diaz match happening since Khabib doesn't seem in any rush to fight him again, though money talks.
Nate Diaz lost the fight because of doctor stoppage because he was getting beaten badly as Jorge Masvidal was dominating the fight and even one judge scored two rounds 10 to 8 which shows how dominant Jorge Masvidal was in the fight and the rematch will not make any sense as Jorge Masvidal is waiting for his title fight and Nate Diaz is not even in the title picture and as you said McGregor and Nate should fight for their trilogy as i do not see McGregor getting a rematch with Khabib anytime soon.

Nate Diaz's face get's busted up easily by anyone. I can't remember who did what in the fight but all it takes is one punch or kick for the tables to be turned. Diaz was willing to fight on and the guy is an animal and the Drs stoppage is an easy way out which isn't a fair win IMO. This is what Diaz looks like when he wins and he still could have managed a choke if he was allowed to carry on:

^^

I don’t think the games (behind closed doors) will be free on TV & why should they be? Sky & BT have already paid for the coverage & have existing contracts with the PL.

They have contracts that the games need to be played within a certain time frame. If that passes then then contracts could become null and void unless Sky/BT don't mind or can come to some sort of arrangement. I would be surprised if they became free to air though. Surely they'll sell the rights to someone rather than give them away for free. Now would be a good time for the PL to do its own streaming service and show them on there free or paid.

They will also practice by following the social distancing rules issued by the British Government. The players will also do training individually and practice in turns, so there are no first-team players training at the same time.
Training with social distance might be difficult for them because training with individuals is still less than optimal maybe they will just warm up to maintain their fitness during this pandemic, although strict rules during the pandemic remain Arsenal wants to keep players in fitness so that the training will continue on Sunday front.
While the English Premier League is also not certain when it will resume since the postponement was announced on March 13.
It is still a long time to announce that the EPL has started again because it requires the stability of the region to be safe for the players and fans, but rumors are also circulating behind closed doors with strict rules.

Training together a sa team whilst social distancing will be nigh on impossible and pointless. Players should just be keeping themselves fit at home until the time comes when this has blown over and they resume the season again. They don't really need to train as a team until that happens just like they don't on the off season or any other breaks.

UFC 249 to lead to Conor McGregor trilogy clash against Nate Diaz with Dana White set to host shows on ‘fight island’

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/11462882/mcgregor-diaz-trilogy-fight-island/

I would love to see the trilogy fight on the island. I would be surprised if they had a fight that huge on it though. If they manage to get Conor involved I think it could be the biggest UFC draw ever. The mix of Conor fighting, the cornovirus happening with nothing else to do and it being on an island would all be huge publicity wise.

I doubt that's gonna happen this year.  Nate Diaz lost a huge bout vs Masvidal and McGregor won vs a declining Cerrone.  It's still a draw.  But it's not gonna be a huge draw that 'could be' given the right circumstances.

Letting them fight now just for the sake of letting them fight would be leaving lots of money on the table imo.

Obviously the rest of the current season will be played behind closed doors but I’m interested in two things -

1.) When will the 2020/21 season start if the current season finishes in maybe August?
2.) When will fans be allowed to start going to games again next season?

They should just play them back to back with maybe a short break or two throughout the season. Fans won't be able to go until the public lockdown stops, but there's really no end in sight for that right now. It could be in place for most of the year or even in fact goes on for years. Nobody knows but it's depressing to think about.

I think a big part of the discussion going on is about business and money and not about football and completing the league because we want to know who won.

Sponsors have paid for advertising and so on, these are the things they are trying to reconcile.

We know who won: Liverpool. Football is a business now sadly whether we like it or not and ultimately all the PL bosses cares about is their overheads hence why they need to get playing as soon as possible because paying out 1 billion+ for missed TV rights would possibly cripple them financially.

The season will be completed, it is close to 100% certain. Ministers are already discussing behind closed doors football. The only people who want the season to be cancelled are fans of clubs who are having bad seasons. Sporting integrity will win the day.

That's the most logical and I think what most sane people want but it probably depends on how long this pandemic goes on for. I think they should just carry on as normal as soon as they are able to though.

I think head of FA once claimed that there is no scenario where Liverpool is not titled champions, and I think that could be the case no matter what happens. If they return months later in the end Liverpool will win, if they return right away, Liverpool will win, if they never return and just start the next season right away, Liverpool will be given the title automatically, and normally if this was any other season and the points where a bit close you would argue that it is unfair, however right now looking at the situation we can say that even if they are given the championship without any more games, it would be as worthy of anyone getting the title as anyone because they were A LOT of points ahead of everyone else and would definitely get the championship anyway.

Liverpool winning it aren't really the main issue. They're so far in front I can't see many complaining about giving them the title, but the bigger issues are what to do about the relegated teams, Champion's League and Europa League spots and also promotion places from the Championship. It would be unfair to them to void the league but also unfair to others if the leagues ended as they stand now. That's why it's much more logical to play the remaining games when they can so it's fair to all.
