141  Other / Meta / Re: Ignore Highlights Disabled on: January 08, 2014, 07:22:46 AM

tl;dr It's disabled for now because of being too processor intensive.

If only this forum had some money we could get better hardware.

Time to start asking for donations?
It's not a problem with hardware, it's the way the highlight script was written. You can throw all the hardware you want at an inefficient script but until you rewrite it and fix the underlying problem you'll be just throwing money away.
142  Economy / Services / Re: [SERVICE] MINING RIG CLEANING on: January 07, 2014, 11:08:35 AM
I don't think anyone would be interested in this service, too much risk, loss of hash rate and the fact that you can buy a pack of air dusters for probably less then it would cost to ship to you.
143  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: KnC Miner : Security hacked - Take remote control over miner! on: January 07, 2014, 10:52:09 AM
When I used to mine I never had a miner exposed to the internet, instead if I wanted to do any remote work I would SSH into a laptop that was open to the internet and on my miners network then SSH into my miners or however they were managed. This is fine as long as the bridge (laptop) is secure in this instance.
144  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Urgent Help Needed - No BS on: January 07, 2014, 01:47:45 AM
From the sounds of it you just have to be patient and careful sanding the plastic away, you've only got a few mm to shave off so shouldn't be to bad, try to keep it uniform though.
145  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Be on the lookout for this scam.. Just got it in my email on: January 07, 2014, 01:03:40 AM
I received the same e-mail. I'm trying to figure out why/how I got myself onto a list that identifies me as a BTC user.

Sent from:

Erwann Genson noreply@thehelixchallenge.com.hk via amazonses.com

I got it too, looks like they pulled the emails from the mtgox leak that happened a while back.
I do not have a MtGox account.

This is getting weird.. I'm convinced they got our emails from bitcointalk when it was hacked with the man in the middle attack. But in all honesty, I could care less. Just have to educate others (new people to btc) on these spam emails even though common sense says don't download
I use a different email address on this site and haven't received any spam to that address.

Maybe an option to upload a QR code somewhere would be good. Maybe a clickable link on your profile that enlarges a QR code to scan in.
You can already set a bitcoin address in your profile.
151  Other / Meta / Re: Watchlist problem on: January 05, 2014, 09:42:17 PM
I refuse to use shit browser

Why are you using Firefox, then? Wink

I think that Firefox 26 is broken somehow. I'll investigate it when I can.
I'm using FF 26 and everything is working as it should.
What browser do you use theymos?
152  Other / Meta / Re: Integrated Tip function for BTCtalk. on: January 05, 2014, 03:07:59 PM
Just seems like something else that could go wrong.
I don't find it hard to copy-paste an address from someone's profile or signature.
153  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Anyway to get 1TH NOW? on: January 05, 2014, 01:11:31 AM
I think at this very moment, only antminers can give you 1 TH/s

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=392860.0

Where do you see 1 TH/s miners there?  I'm only seeing 180 GH/s antminers.
Use multiple until you reach your goal?

There are lots of places you can do that with.  You can do the same at KnC.

The way he was talking I thought there was a 1TH/s miner available there.  The ones at antminer now don't even seem to be available until April otherwise I'd buy some right now.
It says right there in the thread that ProudMiner linked you, "Shipping Date: January 6, 2014"  Huh

155  Other / Meta / Re: Database errors when replying and general forum sluggishness. on: January 04, 2014, 01:24:20 AM
Coloring the word "ignore" with a darker color when a user is ignored by many people.
I dont see how such a small error can make such a big difference.
If the feature was written as:
-For every thread page of 20 posts that someone views:
 -for every user that posted:
-look through every other user's ignore list and add up the times that user has been ignored

it certainly could cause server load. If it comes back, it would probably not be a "live" statistic, but one that is compiled nightly per-user.

That totally makes sense. Why add this feature if it was soooo resource intensive?
I don't think it was actually that bad back in 2012 (resource wise) but as the forum has grown such a huge amount since then it's just been getting slower and slower, have a look through the stats on here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=stats
156  Other / Meta / Re: Database errors when replying and general forum sluggishness. on: January 04, 2014, 01:10:01 AM
I guess it had something to do with this:
I've had to totally disable this feature. I will fix it in a few days.

Seems to be running a lot better right now either way.  Smiley

What is "THIS FEATURE"?
FYI: Clicking a quote title will take you to the appropriate thread where the post was quoted from (quotes can be edited so this may not always run true)

Look up MSI Afterburner, you can do everything from overclocking to changing fan speeds etc.
