I just  saw the video reggie posted.  My jaw just  about hit the floor.  Only upset I missed the ICO otherwise I wouuld have gone super heavy into Veri.  Bitcoin, dash and all these other shitcoins are garbage.  VERI is the first crypto with real world use case maybe weeks out.  Amazing Reggie this shit is going to change the world just give it time!

I am most impressed with this "badass bot" application.  Definitely NOT vaporware, did you hear that Richard Heart?

This app is going to revolutionize everything that we currently have to do manually.

I have enough VERI to request to private beta test it, but I will wait until the public beta.

Veri true that this is the best Christmas ever!

I have come back to this thread many, many times.  And I am so glad that I did!
Thank you, thank you, all of you who convinced me with your analysis and logic.

Veri up 27.5% today and no longer displaying market cap and circulating supply.

No matter.

I predict that this project will be yuuuuuuuuge!

While certainly impressive and great work, what exactly is the benefit of the tent, couldn't you just use the same setup without the tent? Is it for a more efficient air flow? I'm wondering since I thought these tents are mainly used to increase the heat.

Grow tents localize the heat which you can then vent outside.  It is just a better way to manage eat without heating up the entire room.  You can take it a step further and modify them with sound deadening material as well.

That is correct.  I wanted a way to focally control the heat expulsion.  The added benefit was the noise control.

I already had 4 Rosewill Lightning 1300s.  On my two most recent rigs, I used hellae's recommended EVGA 1300W supernova Gold PSU.  (IMHO, these are overkill, but likely quite efficient.)

Yes but with the EVGA you can power up only 3 cards no ? 2 Cable/GPU ?

No, there is enough for 4 cards.

Look at the photos:

I reconfigured 4 of my old Asrock 970 Extreme3 r2.0s and setup 2 new Asrock H81 PRO BTC R2.0 LGA 1150.  The downside of the 970s are limitations to 4 GPUs each.

Just out of curiosity, (doing a little research and planning, couldn't find a thread on the subject), anyone here have any crypto rigs mining inside a "hydroponics" grow tent?

I've got a couple dozen Vega 56s and I am wondering what is the maximum operating temperature for the Vegas.  I already plan on moving about 720 CFM of air to the outside.

I remember one thread here about that.  It works quite well in fact.  Vegas dont like heat though, as they will throttle.  720cfm is good airflow, but the tent will still be very warm.

So I completed the tent project for the 24 Vegas.

Here's where to buy the tent:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SUEHYJ8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here's the 8" duct fan to carry away the hot air:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CAHM75W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here's the 4" duct fan to carry the heat to a room (for cold winters) above where the tent is located:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M7S46YZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also use 2 8" personal fans to blow in cold air at ground level into the tent.

The tent is in a basement.  I had to bust through the brick and install an outdoor register vent.  Mine is just above the basement doors.  I connected about 10 feet of 8" insulated flex duct to that and into the tent.  I bypassed an existing 6" flex duct and routed it to the tent, stepped it down to 4", to heat the room above if needed.  The fan for that duct is controlled by the web power switch outlet.  The 8" fan runs continuously to the outside.

Inside the tent, which has plenty of room for more rigs if this experiment works, is a simple 4 shelf wire shelving unit.  Six open air wood frame rigs fit nicely on them.  I suppose one could just build their rigs directly on the racks.  The ethernet switch, web power switch, and monitor (when needed) fit on the top shelf.  I access these headless rigs with TightVNC.  I had previously run 3 separate, dedicated, 20 amp circuits to this room. 2 rigs (4 GPUs/each) per circuit.  (Having said that I doubt that I will run more circuits down to this area of the basement to fully utilize the size of this tent.  I have a little buyer's remorse and now recognize that I could have gotten away with a tent about half this size.)

The Vegas are stock 56s and using XMR-Stak as described here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/74hjqn/monero_and_vega_the_definitive_guide/
I use the DevCon batch file to initialize the miners. They average 1800 h/s/GPU.  The GPU fans are set to keep the GPU at 70F with OverdriveNtool. (I may BIOS mod and registry hack later.)  Just concerned with heat dissipation currently.

Now for the heat details:  I approached this problem as if the temperature inside the tent would be analogous to the temperature inside a gamer's computer case.  Most sources I found stated that those temps could easily be in the 50C range.  So I knew I had to beat that to protect the hardware.  Sapphire tech support got back with me and stated that the maximum acceptable operating temp for the Vega 56 was 92C. WOW!  The average temperature of the basement is 64F now and never higher than 70F in the summer.  I utilized the motherboard's temperature sensor as well as an independent simple outdoor thermometer dangling from the top support inside the tent.  Without the 4" fan in use, the tent got up to 112 F (44C).  That was good, so I used some other ideas to see if it could be improved.  I placed four 20" box fans behind the rigs.  As was previously stated in this thread, it hurt the cause, it did not help.  Unlike when in use behind double dissipation GPUs, the blowers on the Vegas already direct the exhaust "forward." So the box fans remain, but are turned off.  With the 4" fan in use, I got the temperature down to 102F (39C).

I hope this helps anyone who is contemplating going about trying this tent concept.

With Vega 56, what can you do if you are using OverdriveN and HWinfo64 still reports a higher voltage than was set?

I couldnt unvervolt the new rx 5xx cards with AB aswell. The only things that allowed me to do so was the OverdriveN tool.. And from now on im only using this Smiley
That's better choice, check voltages in HWinfo64 and GPU-Z if they are applied well.

you want to keep the GPU's under 70c which can require up to 3500rpm on Overclocked settings.  Using hwinfo64 you can see HBM temps which are usually +10c hotter than GPU temps.  The GPU will start to throttle when HBM gets 80c+.

As for grow tents you don't want to force air too fast through the gpu's as it will cause too much turbulence and wont give them time to dissipate heat properly.  Don't think of it as a high powered vacuum as you won't see much of a temp drop. You will just need a top exhaust fan to slowly remove heat and an unrestricted fresh air source from the bottom.

Thanks for your input.  I am going to make this tent happen.  I'll report back.

I have emailed Sapphire tech for a response as they should know the maximum operating temperature.  I am looking at the problem as if the tent temperature would be the same as a PC case temperature during optimal gaming.  I have read elsewhere that case temps as high as 50-60 degrees C are not a problem.  Still, if anyone has done this successfully I'd love to know your temps, etc.

Same. Anyone have any insight?

Make sure your running the batch file/devcon as an administrator. If that doesn't work, make sure you have the 64 bit version of devcon if you're running 64 bit windows, and the 32 bit version of devcon if you're running 32 bit windows.

Side note for people who might search this in the future:

The Asus Z270-A WILL NOT RUN 7 Vega. At least not without additional hardware. Its impossible to install the drivers, they'll crash every time no matter how you do it. 6 cards is doable, as long as they're placed in every slot EXCEPT PCIeX16_1. If a card is placed in the first x16 slot, then the drivers will crash while installing if you try to use more than 5 cards. Just a heads up for anyone who might be having this problem.

Interesting, once again it is the x16 slot which wont run the vega (same issue for h110 btc).

This slot is wired directly to the cpu logic instead of the others going through the southbridge first.
Though the z270 has actually 3 (max) wired directly to the cpu ...

Yes, it is weird.  But I have one more even more weird.  I have 2 H110 BTCs.  One works fine using the x16 slot, the other doesn't.  Both are running the same Win 10 OS, and have four of the same Sapphire RX Vega 56s.  Now, explain that.

This miner totally outshines the RX 4xx/5xx series as the best of them could make you up to 700 Hash/s with modded Bios. Now this GPU which costs in Ebay the RX VEGA 56 in US cheapest price of 450-490 USD brand new gives us the hashing power of 3xRX 580 with modified Bios. Well done to the creator of such thing but why am I not seeing a fall in price of the RX 4xx/5xx series yet, they continue to be 300 USD or more at ebay ?

While the general conclusion of this statement is correct, I must disagree on your assessment of the RX 4xx/5xx hashrate.  With Blockchain drivers, modded BIOS, and Samsung memory, you can easily achieve over 925 h/s.
And they only require 1 8pin aux power connector.  I see these cards being workhorses for awhile.
Regardless, the Vega 56 is a screaming buy at Newegg now at $399, limit 5 per customer.
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Issues with my new mining setup! Seeking advice on: October 27, 2017, 10:23:39 AM
Set UEFI to IGPU as primary.  Use a dummy plug for that HDMI, do not use dummy plugs for other GPUs.
If that doesn't work, increase the physical RAM to 8GB.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: October 23, 2017, 07:28:48 PM
Hi,

I have got a question...

Actually I have one with 3 VEGA 64, mining XMR 1408-1100@905. Power consumtion for the whole rig is around 520Watt.
I have a 850W PSU "evga 850 g2 supernova".

Now my question: Does it work out to add a 4th VEGA to the rig with that one 850W PSU?

Thanks and cheers

Oskar

Only if it is Platinum-rated.  Otherwise, if gold rated, 80% rule of 850 is 680.  680-520 = 130 headroom for another Vega, I wouldn't do that on mine.

Just as an experiment I thought I'd see how well 4x Vega 56 would work in a win 10 system with 8gb RAM and a 65GB dedicated swap drive for the virtual memory.  Turns out that the HBM2 slider in Radeon Settings will only slide over to about 12 GB and that the system won't run with 4 cards for too long.  It is stable for 3 cards, however.
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: October 22, 2017, 11:15:43 AM
ALTa does not scrape this thread as all historical linguistic parameters on VERI are already incorporated into the model space

and why would i get LAT when half their team is part of the officialdom. ceo helped promulgate the convention at Avega and is a global banking major at Harvard. Red flags.

being of russo-semitic bloodlines compounds the problem as pushes the zionist agenda

the importance of team cannot be understated whether outside the spectrum of the modelspace or incorporated albeit just as part of the weightings within the meta data.

in short, short LAT

Give it up, faker.  "ALTa" doesn't scrape anything.  ALTA is the analysis as deciphered via clif's monkey mind.  It's the spiders that do the scraping.  If you're gonna fake, at least get your terminology right.

Definitely NOT clif.  clif is too smart to interject into conversations where his bots might cause a circuitous loop and skew the data collected.  Entertaining to read, however.  Cheesy
