Motherboards make a HUGE difference. I only use higher end ones. The little extra is worth all the time and headaches saved.

Powersupply is another big thing.

Afterburner now works for both cards I guess but you can't edit voltages still. Wattman still better but cannot keep HBM stable for more than a few hours.

You are right. The very big dissapointment for me is asrock h110 pro btc+.
I always stick with asus, but for one time I bought asrock. The mobo is not stable and they are not issued new bios since  release...

Damn  Grin

Im going to try the new Asus Z370 Gaming F in the next few days. Reading through the manual it seems it should work with 9 cards (7 in pcie and 2 in m.2).

Same. Anyone have any insight?

Make sure your running the batch file/devcon as an administrator. If that doesn't work, make sure you have the 64 bit version of devcon if you're running 64 bit windows, and the 32 bit version of devcon if you're running 32 bit windows.

Side note for people who might search this in the future:

The Asus Z270-A WILL NOT RUN 7 Vega. At least not without additional hardware. Its impossible to install the drivers, they'll crash every time no matter how you do it. 6 cards is doable, as long as they're placed in every slot EXCEPT PCIeX16_1. If a card is placed in the first x16 slot, then the drivers will crash while installing if you try to use more than 5 cards. Just a heads up for anyone who might be having this problem.

Thanks Mythic. I'm stumped.

I used this method to get devocon.exe:
]https[Suspicious link removed]

Then followed your instructions. Still get the same error:
Quote
C:\Users\monero\Desktop>devcon.exe disable "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_687F"
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_687F&SUBSYS_0B361002&REV_C3\6&2AF6ADFE&0&000000E6: Disable failed

PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_687F&SUBSYS_0B361002&REV_C3\6&9C9E801&0&000000EB: Disable failed

I have to disable, then enable each GPU, which still works great. Still a pain though.

Hi all,

Out of curiosity... are you guys just focused in mining, or are gamers here as well? And if you're a gamer, do you mine with that rig too or only with dedicated mining rigs?

I used to mine ETH when my Fury Nitro on the gaming PC was in idle, but with the difficulty increase I stopped doing it...

All in all, I'm curious if there's people here not using the blockchain driver only to be able to game as well Smiley

I only got into mining because i Love gaming gpu's so much Smiley

I just use two different ssd,s on my main rig and have two cards on the motherboard. Whenever I want go game I boot into my gaming ssd with gaming drivers.

Even if the drivers didnt matter the powerplaymod would still ruin it.

Thank you for your great work on that btw Wink

Interesting, once again it is the x16 slot which wont run the vega (same issue for h110 btc).

This slot is wired directly to the cpu logic instead of the others going through the southbridge first.
Though the z270 has actually 3 (max) wired directly to the cpu ...

Have Gigabyte Vega56 with stock bios, yes the actual 0.2.1 OverdriveNTool.
Whats your experience with it, and whats your config?
Best reset wattman, set voltages to manual, then make config with OverdriveNTool, and restart,de/activate gpu, start miner?

Thought would better for stability to deactivate useless PowerStates?!
Thought Overdrive made the reg? Not? What to edit in regedit?

Best to only activate p1 and p7 for cpu and mem p1 and p3?
But if i deactivate(strg+click on the state) power states in OverdriveNTool, after press apply there are back. Same @you?
GPUz doesn't see the vdcc adjustage.

@Rampage89 test to deactivate and activate the gpu in Windows devices manager, then start mining. better?

You have to be more clear, I am not following you at the moment. Not touching P1's at all.

If your values are not sticking in OverDriveTool then the PowerPlayTabe has not applied properly. Try applying it again or even start over witth DDU - Drivers - Regedit - restart - overdrivetool.

So they say but I have never had any stability issues with my cards  - they either crash right away / in a few minutes or not at all.

Are you using the very latest OverDrive mentioned by RednoW a few posts back ? If not then you have to do it manually with a registry file. There is a tutorial for that somewhere in this thread ( page 68 maybe ? )

Im going to check out the new version of OverDrive my self as well tonight. Might be easier.

What cards and what bioses are you using ?

Tried toggling HBCC in global settings, devcon.exe, nothing seems to turn on HBCC. I have 12 GPU rig prepared but this ... HBCC just does not work on 12 GPU drivers.

What version of Windows do you have? The Fall Creators Update (1709) is supposed to correct those limitations.

Mine seem to crash a lot

Motherboards make a HUGE difference. I only use higher end ones. The little extra is worth all the time and headaches saved.

Powersupply is another big thing.

I went for an ASUS B250 Mining Expert and have a v64 and a v56 @ 64 along with a 1080 ti running stable. My main issue to date has been trying to get power draw at the wall to resemble hellae and everyone else's whilst maintaining high hash rates. I've found that the only way to curb power draw is to set core to go 1308/1100 @ 905 mV on both Vegas, 1408 core increases power draw at the wall by 100w for a ~200 h/s benefit. With the 1080 ti mining Zcoin (135w) total system power draw at the wall is 495w and the Vegas hash at 3650 h/s. That's not as good as I had hoped and I'm beginning to think the motherboard is the culprit. Power supply is rm1000x so I don't suspect that is the issue. Risers are 006c powered via 6 pin PCI-E, could they be causing higher power draw? Have followed all the guides and used hellae and my own custom power play tables - this has me stumped...

Yes, it is weird.  But I have one more even more weird.  I have 2 H110 BTCs.  One works fine using the x16 slot, the other doesn't.  Both are running the same Win 10 OS, and have four of the same Sapphire RX Vega 56s.  Now, explain that.

my asrock b250 gaming k4 blew up yesterday with only 5 cards attached. returning it today, not sure exactly what caused it. On power up it just started smoking from the edge, looks like perhaps one of the tracks on edge burnt out.

Hopefully no other components are casualty.

Could a faulty riser card cause it?

i have like 6 peices of the 270 A and AR asus and they work with up to 8 gpu rx 570 or 580 easy

are you sure you dont have a bad board? they really have problems with 6 plus vega?

I hope not becuase i like these boards since they have their own power switch too and have been for the most part solid.  I only have 3 vega so i cant test it myself

did u update bios to latest?
