141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mixers and their reason to exist in the bitcoin ecosystem on: April 07, 2024, 10:59:49 PM
Not gonna lie, Mixer is very helpful to me ever since I join the casino signature campaign and earn some Bitcoin because the local exchange the I use frequently to received this funds is very suspicious and doesn’t allowed deposits from casino or from any wallet that has a connection to a crypto casino transaction.

I encounter an issue in the past about this that makes me more cautious and embrace the use of mixer to hide the trace of gambling activity to my Bitcoin. I stop using mixer after the multiple seize on popular mixer and decided to use P2P exchange instead.

This was the reason why my account in a local exchange got banned: the funds came from a gambling platform, and it is a substantial amount back then. I asked for the reason why they banned my account knowing that these coins I received may very well come from different origins, but they never answered. I never used a mixer to 'obfuscate' my traces, but I did use Binance to trade my bitcoins to XMR or any other accepted coins of another local exchange and I never encountered such a problem again.

I see why people would want to use mixers, though the risk of getting your coins washed with some other tainted coins is very high, which may implicate you to some crime you did not commit. This is why I avoided using mixers even though the idea fascinated me before, and boy was I right after seeing news reports of people being questioned on where their coins came from after using a mixing service and getting tainted coins on their end.
142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stopping the curse of losing streak? on: April 07, 2024, 10:43:42 PM
If I were you, I would have taken it as a sign to get off the gambling chair and do something else. Losing that long and that much is something I wouldn't want to happen to me. I cannot imagine how cruel it must be to lose that much, let alone that extended period of time. What I would have done is to quit altogether and find a new thing to do that makea me entertained and gives me money on the side.
I would definitely do the same on which i would really be that go to some place and breath some fresh air or trying out to distract myself about the disappointment that i do have in gambling, because if you would really be trying out to get those emotions overcome your brain and ended up on being compulsive then you are just basically putting up yourself into possible mess up with your life because you do really know that
you would really be likely be chasing up those loses that you are currently experiencing.

We do know that gambling is pure luck
Gambling is for fun
Gambling is for leisure
Gambling is for entertainment
Gambling is for past time

They are all the same but people do really still end up on chasing or playing out for the sake of money, this is where people do mess up their lives.

There are people who are given the taste of a win, and since they are able to win once, they think they can do it again effortlessly the next time. What they do not know is that the platform is just luring them to spend more in order to get more from their pockets. After such wins, they will experience losses like never before, but since they think that it's easy to win just like before, they'll continue betting and betting, and will have a tunnel vision on what's really going on.

After a series of losses, I think a gambler should lay off the bets and just do something else to not get too much into it. It may not be as effective, but it sure as hell will save the gambler some money.
143  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Makakatulong ba ang Charter Change Para Sa Adoption Ng Cryptocurrency on: April 07, 2024, 10:33:42 PM

145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About running an online casino vs an offline casino on: April 07, 2024, 09:10:01 PM
I have been thinking about this a lot now and today again, I did the same, it's probably the right time to pour out my mind to my family on this forum, hope in return to get some great answers.

I know that it's not easy to run a casino, hire workers and some professionals and others, my question is. ....

1. Is running offline casinos the same as running an online casino?

2. What do online casinos have to lose if they aren't making as much money as they intended?

3. With online casinos, isn't the number of hiring being limited compared to someone who wants to run an offline casino?

4. Which one is more easier to manage than the other?

And the last question is, which one would you go for if you have the resources?

Offline casinos target the local audience and this doesn't mean they can't be successful, someone once told me that if I want to run a offline casino I should move to Las Vegas, its a base for gamblers and every offline casinos always have customers.

Online casinos have no limit here, it always target world wide audiences, in most parts of the world, this shows that running a online casino can brings more success than an offline casino.

It is also easier to run an online casino by two or three persons, you don't need a large numbers of workers and in fact, online casino is better in this area, you pay fewer workers and you also make more money, in return you get more customers since all they need is your website, not your actual location.
However the issue with running an online casino is to secure it properly against external threats like hackers, because unlike with what happens with an offline casino, the threats you will have to endure are global, while at the same time hackers have all the time on the world to find a single vulnerability, so even if you could repeal most attacks, as long as one is successful that could be enough not only to make you lose a lot of money, but such a hack could also ruin the reputation of that casino and make it disappear.

And this is why you need to hire cybersecurity experts that are really the experts in the field. If you will be skimping on this aspect of your casino, then I see no reason why you still want to pursue the casino business in the first place. As you said, one single attack can ruin the whole operation, so it's best to not let that attack happen at all, and you can only do that by hiring the right people to do the job.
146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good bitcoin security starts with strong PC and mobile device security on: April 06, 2024, 11:04:28 PM
Malwarebytes was good when I was still using Windows, but yea all the default stuff installed on most devices is good enough. You just need to not be dumb and install random pirated software.

Also, don't forget hardware wallets. It should pretty much be mandatory for 99% of people.

I remember creating a simple app on my PC for a game that I'm playing. I made everything on that Windows machine and made sure everything is properly coded. When I tried to run the packaged app, Windows Defender blocked the app and put it into quarantine mode. These pre-installed security systems in PCs are more than enough for an average person, and is great in detecting apps that may harm the user's device and files. Also, I don't think the average person that isn't technologically inclined can turn off these security features today unless they have to because of a requirement on some of the apps that they are using. Even still, it should be obvious that when a software is asking you to turn off your antivirus software, there is something wrong with it.

As for hardware wallets, I still believe that it's only a necessity if you are planning to stockpile on bitcoins and hold for long. If not, then a simple PC or a mobile phone is more than sufficient provided that that device isn't connected to the internet at all times or used to browse shady websites.
147  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is forex trading a hobby or a skill on: April 06, 2024, 10:31:46 PM
It's kind of a weird thing to put in a CV to be honest, and if the applicant is applying for a position that isn't high-paying, I'd doubt whether he/she has forex trading for a hobby, much less an experience to it. Perhaps the candidate only placed that information in there to somehow 'match' the job description. If it's more into data analysis and being critical to situations to come up with a decision, then the candidate just added that information to give a flair on their CV.

Either way, it can be either. You can treat forex trading as a hobby if you are not risking huge money and is just really interested in the idea of flipping different currencies for a profit.
148  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gambling problems on different races on: April 06, 2024, 09:58:50 PM
Gambling problem is a serious issue which has affected the millions of gamblers in the world generally. While anyone can develop a problem with gambling, i tend to understand that race has more to contribute to the problems of gambling in the society. Most historical practices and traditional system of gambling practices within the different race has an influence and if a gambler do not take these things into consideration he would face more problems as a gambler.

Africans have little of gambling addict because they have only local gambling shops (lack of economic opportunities to improve the level of gambling). so they rarely reach full addiction. While in some other part of the world like the white, they are more likely to have co-occurring gambling disorders because of  depression or anxiety. And other races have high rate of gambling problems due to the presence of casinos on reservations, for example in Asia.

A huge part of it can also attributed to ease of access to these platforms. Without gambling platforms, people may be interested in gambling to get more money but won't have the means to do it.

In Africa, AFAIK they do have gambling shops that are offered locally to them. It's also becoming a thriving industry in the continent, so eventually this region will produce addicts since they now have access to such platforms. The region is ridden by poverty, with a lot of people wanting to get out of the rat race and looking for easier ways to do it. The promise of quick fortunes through gambling is what may drive them towards their goal.

In Asia, it's mainly the culture that drives people to gamble. Asian history is rich with gambling and I guess that carries on with the future generation. Animal fighting, card games, and other such gambling games have taken their inspiration from existing Asian gambling games, so there's that.

As for the whites, they are generally the 'rich' guys throughout history. Having access to money means they can take more risks than any other people, hence why these guys tend to gamble a lot more compared to the rest of the world's population.
149  Other / Off-topic / Re: Just another gambling addict story. on: April 06, 2024, 09:25:01 PM
All I can say is, send that person to a place wherein he doesn't know anybody and can't bother other people to borrow money. That way, he will try and make a living for himself and his gambling addiction. Idk if rehabilitation will help him in the Philippines because the stories I've heard from friends and family all say the same thing: rehab is ineffective and just intensifies the desire of the person to commit the same thing they're addicted on.

Try to be blunt on him and deprive him of any money. Don't give in to his threats as it's obvious that he's not going to do it anyway. Perhaps send him to jail due to the theft that happened. Give him a hard lesson and he'll learn soon.
150  Economy / Economics / Re: considering the advantage of Fiats over Cryptocurrencies on: April 06, 2024, 08:58:32 PM
People are still being scammed even when they use fiat currencies, and some of these scammers aren't caught by the police so I don't understand your point in holding someone responsible in the event of a scam. Sure, there are law enforcement agencies out there capable of assisting victims, but the fact that such scams still exist in a currency that is supposed to be protected by law doesn't make it any better.

At least in crypto, you get to learn how to be diligent in every transaction you make so you don't get to be screwed by scammers.
151  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Tuloy Ang pag Ban Ng Binance Sa Pinas At Posibleng Dahilan. on: April 06, 2024, 08:19:20 PM

152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it right to advice other people against gambling for personal reasons like?? on: April 06, 2024, 08:09:37 PM
It's all okay in my opinion. The dude is just trying to warn others of the pitfalls of gambling through his experience. There isn't anything wrong about raising awareness through your own experience. At least, it gives some people thought about the matter because it can also happen to them. The guy doesn't really seem offensive to other people at all if he's talking from experience. He just wants to save other people from the same trouble, and if anything, I think that's pretty kind of him.
153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESports betting -CS:GO, DOTA 2, LOL, Valorant - Sportsbet.io discussion thread on: April 06, 2024, 07:39:37 PM
Anyway, I made a bet on Falcons to win for 1.65 and Im kinda regretting it now lol. The risk reward ratio isnt that great afterall but its Falcons though so they should be able to win easily

I cant actually believe that I hit a winner with Falcons to win but yeah its falcons and we all know how dominating they are. Its like watching the old GG dominate the pro scene all over, bet -1.5 and you will win most of the time

Falcons is the new shit in the Dota scene. Their moves are buttery smooth, controls the map easily, and takes fights like they just know what the outcome is. They have some difficulties in the laning phase but they make up for it with a nice and very conservative mid game. It's fun to watch new teams dominate the scene that's being dominated and bossed around by a few oldheads and also bring new things in the table.
154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dana thought he lost $80k one night and his advice for gamblers on: April 06, 2024, 01:01:52 PM
This is why it's important to keep track of your bets and be sober when gambling. This is not an isolated case. There are lots of gamblers out there that experienced the same thing at least once because they are under the influence of alcohol. I can't really accept it if this happens to me, and perhaps that might make me stop betting if I become too careless in the future.

Anyway, that $3m is nothing to a man like Dana White. Dude's just living every man's dream at this point, and he's got a lot of business and things going on for him to enable such a lifestyle. He could easily make that money back in just a few fights and sponsorship deals. But to us common folk, even a thousand might hurt the bank too much.
155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many times all-in save your bankroll? on: April 05, 2024, 11:59:09 PM
Plenty of times! I sometimes click on raise bet to buy free spins on slots without knowing that I maxed out my bankroll. I effectively doubled or tripled my money on that one occasion which prompted me to stop playing for the day and be satisfied with the win. There are also times out of frustration due to loss streaks that I click on all-in just to be done with the game. Lo and behold, I get the win and continue to play until I get back from my original bankroll  Cheesy
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really need to blame fraudsters on: April 05, 2024, 11:53:51 PM
Ahh, victim blaming I see.

Even if there are some lapses made by those who got scammed, I don't think that the blame should be shifted to them. It's not like they were willing to get scammed in the first place. After all, they might just be trying to make some money and these fraudsters took the opportunity because they see someone hasn't done their research. There will be no hacks if there are no hackers, and no fraud if there are no fraudsters. It should be simple as that, and since there are a lot of hackers and fraudsters around, we heighten our sense of security and try to make our wallets, transactions, or properties as bulletproof as possible.

Then again, humans are inherently devious and nefarious, and will always try to keep up with these security measures in order to steal from these people who aren't security conscious or aware of what's happening around them.

Also, that Swiss stage was great, I hope other tournaments can adapt the format in the future as it was more fun to watch than these upcoming bo2 formats knowing that most of these series would be 1-1s.

First time I've seen this format in dota2 iirc and yeah it seems we are now pretty similar to how cs2 tournament works huh. There are various of 1M prizepool tournament just like in cs2 and now swiss stage as well, pretty interesting but too bad Nigma Galaxy didnt make it

-snip-

Swiss stage gives us a lot more games in one single day without teams having to get tired and still play a decent amount of games and practicing a lot along the way. It's a good tournament format that also provides viewers and gamblers like us to make some money and examine how each teams are doing. I'm not sure if this will carry over in Dota 2 but heck, it would be great if it would.

As for Nigma Galaxy, I never really expected from them anymore until they have kuroky playing on the team. He's not like Puppey who can still play effectively and devise plans and strats on the fly. I can say that I'm a hater of kuroky at this point, but that's only because he's good only as a coach at this point and not a player anymore.
158  Economy / Economics / Re: how to survive inflation and economy hardship on: April 05, 2024, 11:10:32 PM
Cutting down on expenses and looking to increase the flow of money towards you is something that should go hand in hand. You will have a chance to increase your wealth when you get a high-paying job and effectively cut costs on your day to day expenses. Of course, it's easier said than done due to the recent changes in the job market plus the continuing effect of inflation towards goods.

What I did is I tried to expand my skillset given that I'm in an industry wherein the progression is linear. You will literally have to wait for years in order to be promoted or to become senior in what you do. It's a tough industry, and one that I thankfully managed to climb some ladders on, but I still think that due to the very narrow skillset that I have and the very few available jobs in the market looking for the skills that I have, should my company decide to close down for some reason or I get fired, I wouldn't have that many places to go.

I tried studying online and working on side projects to enhance my skill. Luckily, this somewhat paid off and I have a few gigs here and there to support my income. Now I'm not broke by any means, I just think it's not wise for a person to just be contained in one single skill that he knows for the rest of his life due to the amount of people being released in the job market with equal or even more experience than I do.
159  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online casino gambling is more of profit chasers while land base is more of fun on: April 05, 2024, 10:37:42 PM
I beg to differ. Land-based casinos are for the more serious folks who are really into gambling and will gladly forego millions in one night just to try to get the max win. Whereas in online casinos, most of the players are capable of putting only a couple of dollars just to try their luck or to have fun.

I haven't seen a single person in a land-based casino really 'enjoying' the experience. Most of those guys I see are hardcore gamblers that only want one thing: to win. The casinos I've visited in Macau, Singapore, Hong Kong, and here in the Philippines just paint a similar picture of gamblers wanting to win than to have fun for the night.
160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you consider yourself, the family and gambling? on: April 05, 2024, 10:03:38 PM
1. At what age will you allow your child to start gambling? that is if you will even allow for that at all?

I'd probably allow him or her to gamble once they hit legal age, which is 21. Of course, before I let them wander off, I'd like to teach them a few important lessons about gambling, and make sure that this is what they always think of before making a bet.

2. At what age do you see yourself quit gambling? that is also if some of us are going to ever do so?

Probably sooner than expected. At this point in time, other hobbies have taken over my interest in gambling, and right now I'm off the grid and haven't bet on anything for more than 3 weeks. There is that thought of gambling once I got home but eh, most of the time it's just me enjoying what I do now compared to winning something in gambling.

3. Ever since you have started gambling, have you ever achieve a satisfying level that makes you think it has good impact on you?

In all honesty, I've never won anything extremely big during my time in gambling. Winning 1 btc a few years back when it's priced at $300 is something I would say as my greatest achievement in gambling. It didn't really give a good impact to me, but hey, it still made me a good memory.

4. Would you have missed out on anything if you were not a gambler?

Probably my interest in sports. If I weren't into gambling, I wouldn't have checked F1 a lot, peeped into baseball, or even dare watch a whole basketball match in the NBA. Apart from that is my tendency to use odds in almost every decision making that I do which actually helps to come up with a result that does not make me a loser in the end.
