Is it just me or has hashrate increased? I initially thought it was variance but it's been finding more blocks in the last several days, even with the 1-2 PH/s total network increase.

It's almost worth the effort to quote all the "AM had the lead but lost it" & "It's over for AM!" posts...

Quote away. I have so far seen zero indication this is going to outcompete.

Specifically, can this deliver $3/GH or better? Or is everybody getting unnecessarily excited about an expensive cooling solution?

The cooling mechanism deliver $3/GH (w/ gen1)? Of course not, the nuggets that I've gathered are the mentions of "reduced die size (40 nm, 28 nm)" in the document. Obviously they are only mentions and until the product is delivered, it is what you say: "an expensive cooling solution"

I received this via PM when I asked about the source of the alleged cube pictures:

Hi,

The pics were posted some days ago, on instant messenger.
friedcat should announce full info by weekend

regards

Most interesting, we'll see how people deal with the quickly rising BTC value vs. the incoming hardware plans.

Ya this is my first time with them. I am just a tit concerned since my bank has not received any transactions yet. The coins are suppose to be here by tomorrow Friday the 8th. I have verified both my phone and identity with them as well.

Yea, it'll arrive on the dot. That's usually how it's been with first time buyers.
153  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase feedback thread on: November 07, 2013, 02:49:02 PM
I bought bitcoins from them on monday, they said the coins will be mine on friday. The withdrawl has yet to post my account. I am starting to worry. Is anyone else having issues buying coins?

If you're a first time buyer, it takes about a week for everything to clear.

Just received most of what I had deposited on October 27th, the day after the hack was discovered.  It wasn't a lot of coin, but it was to me, and I salute TF's efforts.  Immediate responsiveness, contrasted with Roman/bitfloor.

As I have said in another thread, while I am angry at how this happened, I am not accusing TF of being a scammer.  I've always told my kids that making a mess is regrettable, but leaving it is really bad.  TF seems to be trying to clean up. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, and I remain hopeful at this time that I won't lose the larger amount in Coinlenders.

I mostly agree with this assessment.  TF is honest and will do the best he can.  His reputation up to this point has been very good.

I'm always amazed by how quickly the cynicism surfaces and the accusations fly at the first sign of something going wrong.

Because you weren't here when Pirateat40, GLBSE, Bitcoinica, & Alberto happened. I'd be cynical too...

Hey guys - sorry for the undue worries here.

In short, we had a syntax error in the ACH file we submitted to the bank last night.  By the time we corrected it, the "bank cutoff" for the day had already past, although we submitted it only half an hour or so later.  The net effect of this is what you're currently seeing - orders marked as "completed" because we have actually sent the instructions to the bank but they won't be processed until this evening when the bank does their daily processing.  One of the unfortunate downsides of working within the traditional financial system (and their very old codebase), and why I love Bitcoin.

Wanted to make sure you guys understood what was going on!

Why can't we just get the exchanges to follow SEC regulations? Is it too much money to create a website like that for the amount of traffic/transactions it receives?

Yes, IF you're willing to spend tens of millions of dollars and dealing with years of paperwork and litigation.

The AM cube just seems to be a nifty way to repackage Gen1 chips...
I am not sure how he puts over 100 gen1 chips in that little box without causing nuclear fusion to occur. The unit is less than the 1 cubic foot it ships in.

Perhaps this is the first immersion cooling product from AM?

Or are you suggesting that the cube will be gen2 hardware? I thought gen2 was dead in the water and gen3 is scheduled for February...

Last time I checked, a "full mask for 40 nm" would not be considered dead in the water.

Still available, price updated.
159  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: November 02, 2013, 04:42:53 PM
my personal considerations:

  • is the news true? (never saw that site before)
  • 13-14$ per GH/s seem competitive to me, considering other hardware avaible and that this "gadget/souvenir" line was allways more pirced
  • if the news is true it's yet another PR fail from friedcat - why do we learn about news from random people's interviews and random sites? why no official statement is made on these rumors? it doesn't feel good for the shareholder

If you check many threads made by friedcat in the Custom Hardware subforum, you will see he is listed as a official reseller and is a board member. That said, we don't know if it was supposed to be announced yet but will soon enough.
