Something other then the usual. I know that most here are hard core linux types and I'll get some flak...but I think a little shout out to the folks at microsoft for a really good job with Windows 10! it is actually really really good plus the roll out has been exceptional. bravo.
Just having a minor chuckle about the various responses to your post bigrcanada. It's sort of like when you go along with your kids to see a cute Disney film and everyone enjoys it and the whole family's laughing and having fun. Then the next day you're at the office telling a co-worker about it and you get this massive lecture about how the Walt Disney Corporation is this totally evil and insidiously malevolent cult that's been brain-washing us and our kids for decades and their ultimate aim is world domination and control of every piece of 'entertainment' content, and that we should all be avoiding such corporate command & control hypnotism at all costs, yada yada. You stand there hearing about all this evil and how you've potentially been manipulated thinking "Aw gee....I just thought it was really fun film...." ...Windows 10...
...big-ugly-system-hogging-bug-infested-mega-dormant-virus-incubator... But maybe that's just my pet Microsoft hate talking... Still using good old stable W7 for my Microsoft needs. The purpose of an operating system is to handle files and display program information to the monitor. That's it. Anything else you don't want. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/08/03/windows_10_privacy_defaults/"Microsoft basically grants itself very broad rights to collect everything you do, say and write with and on your devices in order to sell more targeted advertising or to sell your data to third parties," the privacy warriors at European Digital Rights told the FT on Monday."

...should get a one way key to allow the MO to login in to the proposal list... I really don't want to hear anything about "viewkey". Proposal discussions should include anybody interested in advancing DASH. Each proposal should have it's own thread on Dashtalk.

This thread is about why Peter Todd calls dash snake oil.
Wow, a moment of clarity from iCEBREAKER. I'm still waiting for an answer to the "why" question. I've asked repeatedly and in different ways. The only response is "It's snake oil!, It's snake oil!" That doesn't answer the "why". Dash's commonality with snake oil is the magical thinking of their consumers', which is taken advantage of by the con men. Just as rubes from the farm believe snake oil can accomplish what real medicine cannot, so do DashHoles believe Masternodes provide higher security than Bitcoin's proof of work. Your argument has blown me away. I'm completeley convinced you are correct. You display such depth of reasoning in a well thought out, logically written way a child could understand it. Your use of extensive, annotated quotes from Peter "the prophet" Todd simply cannot be challenged.

yep, the rest is all the same crap. He's talking about the funny advantages of his View Keys. In Dash you can choose if your transaktion is hidden or visible on the blockchain with one single click.
How do you prove to an escrow agent you made a certain darksend transaction when there is a dispute about a certain trade? ummm, maybe the escrow agent checks the balance on the target address?

Seems to me that Peter "The Prophet" Todd is endorsing InstantX: "we're better off accepting that (slow confirms = uncompetitive) and building systems on top of Bitcoin instead." -- Peter Todd "InstantX ... will allow for cryptocurrencies such as Dash to compete with nearly instantaneous transaction systems such as credit cards for point-of-sale situations while not relying on a centralized authority. If successful, such an idea could revolutionize cryptocurrency, by shortening the delay in confirmation of transactions from as long as an hour (with Bitcoin) to as little as a few seconds." -- DASH Team For more information, please read: http://www.scribd.com/doc/241012134/Transaction-Locking-and-Masternode-Consensus-A-Mechanism-for-Mitigating-Double-Spending-Attacks

Windows 10 released today...I'm going to test V12 on the public release. It was working well on the insider preview. Anyone else install it yet?
I'm gonna wait for a few days to weeks - lol eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee So far, so good...The Edge browser is way better than IE, but I still won't use it probably. Dash wallet is still mixing away, no problem yet. Why would you go anywhere near Windows 10? Your computer needs an operating system, fine I get that. Just use *nix. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/07/29/windows_10_sysadmin_says_average_joe_will_be_happy/"Microsoft's spying on you is pretty awful. Windows 10 calls home with essentially every last thing you do and search for by default. Finding and disarming all the different ways Microsoft spies on you is difficult at best, and a futile game of whack-a-mole at worst."

from The Bitcoin Lightning Network paper: ...in the blockchain, if only two participants care about an everyday recurring transaction, it’s not necessary for all other nodes in the bitcoin network to know about that transaction. It is instead preferable to only have the bare minimum of information on the blockchain. By defer- ring telling the entire world about every transaction, doing net settlement of their relationship at a later date enables Bitcoin users to conduct many transactions without bloating up the blockchain or creating trust in a cen- tralized counterparty. An effectively trustless structure can be achieved by using time locks as a component to global consensus... Did you read that? "net settlement at a later date"? Does that sound like a retail transaction to you? A newspaper might let you read a daily column using that arrangement, but how many merchants will let you walk away with physical goods? I'm not an expert, but I'm quite sure the lightning network could be used for retail transactions. This video explains it better than I ever could: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zVzw912wPoYou're not an expert, yet you put words in Peter "The Prophet" Todd's mouth? Mr. Todd claimed that Bitcoin transactions take too long to confirm as opposed to credit cards for transactions. DASH's implementation of Instantx solves that problem for retail (and all other) transactions. The Lightening Network does NOT solve that problem. It handles the problem of RECURRING payments. Not retail payments. Peter Todd endorses DASH! Of course if you wish to prove otherwise, state your case. Or would you rather revert to simple name-calling?

If Bitcoin transactions can be signed with a new sighash type which addresses malleability, these transfers may occur between untrusted parties along the transfer route by contracts which are enforceable via broadcast over the bitcoin blockchain in the event of uncooperative or hostile participants, through a series of decrementing timelocks." -- Lightening Network Which quote most closely resembles Mr. Todd's wish?

How is Peter Todd endorsing DASH? LMAO
Did you read the post above yours? He's more than likely talking about something like the Lightning Network which actually is built on top of Bitcoin. Not a clone like DASH. He quite clearly said "Lightning Network". How did I miss that. What he said was that we are better off building superior functionality on top of the Bitcoin blockchain technology, which is what Instantx does.

...i dont like it in the sence that it can also derail the vision of Evan and his team and to be honest i trust the team more then others to some degree, dont get me wrong great things can come from the community but we must be carefull with that.Im afraid that we create many side things that will put Dash into an identity crisis and confuse the people what Dash is REALY about Each proposal will have it's own thread on dashtalk. The merits and drawbacks can (and should) be discussed as long as necessary. Most likely much longer than necessary. This is a very good thing.

We need to make sure that if they use DarkSend code, that they call it DarkSend. No Darksend for them: "...will not come with 'Masternodes' ...it will function as a special type of transaction that will float on the memory pool until it matches other interested users..."EDIT -------- Doesn't sound scalable to me.

Isn't it nice to know that you have a higher reputation than Satoshi? You'd think he'd would get a founder rep or something? Maybe trolls like those in this thread keep downvoting him.
