141  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dont let them fool you. We will see a NEW BOTTOM. Maybe BTC at 3400$ again? on: January 16, 2020, 05:10:12 PM
I don't understand the concern of most people in the crypto industry. When the price is on the low, there is panic and concerns as to when the price would increase and now the price is increasing there is still threads and analysis here and there that is warning people that they should not even take it serious. The question is what exactly do we want in crypto as it is beginning to seem that nothing is satisfactory to anyone again. We speculate but when things are happening in that direction, we begin to panic.
142  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Escrow provider to guarantee that if someone gets paid a fee is paid on: January 16, 2020, 04:12:22 PM
this can be done with a trusted escrow service, generally for a 1-2% fee. you can find a list of such services (and their official threads) here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2439910.0

i recommend contacting minerjones or OgNasty. best of luck!

Thank you but i think it would be better to have a company with a good track record as an escrow service provider and not individuals for this. What is your opinion ?

I quite understand your position of wanting to use a company because it might show some legality or provide more validity for the sake you want it but I must tell you, except the company you are able to find out is located in your country of residence and they can be verified, you are likely to be scammed because any company on the internet in crypto can scam and go away with it since they cannot be traced or they are in a different location from yours.

However, using individuals that have proven themselves to be people of impeccable character, you are certain to a large extent that your funds is safe and they would deliver on their words without too much bottlenecks.
143  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Coinbase Settles Cryptsy Class-Action Lawsuit For $1 Million on: January 16, 2020, 01:04:28 PM
Its a good one if I am asked because it shows that when you violate the rule and you are an accomplice for someone to break the rule, then be ready to pay the price. This activity can be looked from several areas. One it shows that regulatory authorities are looking and there are laws that can compel actions even though the laws are not specifically made for crypto. Another angle is that I see crypto related businesses tighten their KYC regulations in other to ensure that to ensure they are not liable should issues like this arise.
144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK gamblers cannot use Credit Cards for gambling from April 14, 2020 on: January 15, 2020, 05:09:04 PM
There’s a new regulation for gamblers who reside in UK i.e. from April 14th, 2020 you’ll can’t use your credit cards for online gambling. Now on paper this rule does seem harsh, but when I read their reasoning behind this decision I felt they have taken the right approach and it’ll help UK’s citizens. The key reason why I’m saying that this decision is correct because this move shall force people to gamble only with the money they have, but I’m sure many will not like this decision hence you’ll can post below and tell the community why you didn’t like this decision.

Source:

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-51103006

Its even a stupid idea to begin with to start gambling on 'credit' and then when you lose and cannot pay back you build more credit because the credit card company will continue to add interest to your balance thereby compounding your woes but because the gambling sites are also bunch of capitalist that would ensure there is 'excess money' to protect their own bottom line everyday but the regulators are now stepping up to stop that exploitation of the people from time immemorial and it should be a welcome development.
145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can we overcome our gambling addiction! on: January 15, 2020, 04:24:08 PM
There's a story that my mom told me, it's about my uncle who once became a gambling addict that there comes a time where he sold most of their things in their house just to find money to gamble. The worst thing that my uncle did is to pledge their house just to satisfy his gambling pleasures.

I know it's not easy to overcome this situation especially when you're already in your point that you want to get back everything that you have lost. You keep on gambling thinking you can earn everything back. Actually, we're already lucky enough if we continuously win the game but even our luck has its own limitations. Without noticing it, our wins are slowly turning into losses.

I also know that some of us here will just put their attention on different things to avoid too much gambling. But in reality, it's just easy to say but harder to do. There's no easy way if you really got attached to gambling. But in your opinion or personal experiences, how do you overcome your addiction to gambling?

The way to overcome as social vice like addiction to gambling is not to get addicted in the first place. People who have been addicted and lost a lot before coming back to their senses would agree that the best way is not to get involved because there are some point that people will get to in gambling that what follows is a spiral downwards and nothing else can be done but for someone who is not there yet, the simple way out which I would continue to recommend is to start getting your attention on other productive ways to make money because the quest to make money in a sharp and easy way is mostly the motive that lead people to gambling.
146  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: eToro Plans to Launch Its Own Debit Card in 2020 on: January 15, 2020, 10:01:44 AM
I have seen eToro on several ads on social media platforms but I never took them serious thinking its just one of those platforms that spring forth with huge publicity only to gain more then disappear into thin air. But with this move, I think I have to start taking them serious as they mean business. Launching a debit card is surely not a small feat and the amount of capital to be involved in that is not small for them to chicken out any time soon.
147  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cobinhood shutting down on: January 15, 2020, 08:32:12 AM
Unfortunately, we are subjected to objections and counter objections of this business and there is nothing anyone can do about it because they have made their decisions and no one to call them to order. My concern is for those who have funds on their platform and to those who held their exchange backed coin thinking that very soon it will hit all time high and they can make some massive returns on it but that is never going to happen. I won't be surprised if these same guys would gather again and launch another platform or product under a new guise and still rip unsuspecting members of the crypto community.
148  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: NiceHash stops paying back -- scam or not? on: January 14, 2020, 02:38:25 PM
I agree with you. However, the main problem is that they stopped paying back the stolen funds, this being their second lie. First was that at beginning of 2018 every client will be fully reimbursed by that time. After, they said they will pay each month a small part, instead of paying back everything in a single installment.

A company that suffered the kind of losses that NiceHash suffered, would say anything to ensure that they were able to fend off as much as possible attacks they can at the moment which is what they have done. The point is the funds stolen does not only involve investors funds but also their own working capital which would drastically affects their operation and also responsible for them not to be able to meet up with their liabilities. Now that its seemingly impossible for them to pay, they would not come out to make the announcement because it would only open them to series of liabilities and they surely don't have money to hire lawyers especially if its a class action. So, aside from the tough operating conditions, they would still continue to struggle into the future.
149  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptotalk Future on: January 14, 2020, 01:08:56 PM
As everyone knows that yobit have stopped the publicity of cryptotalk signature , so does this mean that they are no longer interested in that site or they have achieved what they wanted through https://cryptotalk.org/ ?

Is the pay per post campaign still running on their site and what could be their long terms plans ?

Campaigns are not expected to be forever. For a forum based campaign, its meant to be for a short time and realize the specific number of people or accounts on their platform then move to something else. Just like businesses that launched a new product, you get to see campaign ads here and there and sometimes even bonuses just to increase users but the moment the objective is achieved, they change focus to building and ensuring the market they have gained during the promo period is not lost drastically which I guess the same thing is going on for CrypotTalk.
150  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Ideas Needed for Easy and Passive Monthly Income * REWARD * on: January 14, 2020, 11:38:37 AM
So.. i am a bored investor.. got tired of stress and watching crypto market going up and down and holding alot of coins..now i am looking for a steady minimal risk passive income on monthly basis.. say $ 3000 a month.. not necessarily from a single source.. i dont wana put all the eggs in a single basket..

also i am looking for someone who can pile me up all the information of citizenship by investment program of different countries.. Specifically such countries where health and education are provided by state.. i.e Canada.. Australia.. UK Etc.. the information should be in easy way.. like 1..2..3.. and the process should be easy and hassle free .. i am looking for countries with high human development .. a chance to available citizenship / permanent residency in minimal time.. i have 2 little kids and i dont want them to take stress in future.. just want to educate them and get them settled in some nice place where they dont have to worry about bills and stuff..

Looking for ideas..

Thank you

You have good intentions and with proper understanding, you might actually meet your needs. In my opinion, I would suggest you look outside the crypto world in your investment because the volatility is not something that the future can be banked upon. Aside from the developed world that the interest rate is really low, other source of investment might not be viable such as the risk free mutual funds unlike the developing economies that could return as much as 10% to 14% returns. Another way is to look at investing in real estate where you consider the location and can generate decent returns over the years.

The part of not wanting your children to be stressful in the future, while that is noble and you have the absolute right, I don't think that is a good one because stress is part of life and kids needs to be shown the way to be stressed for them to have a picture of what life is all about.
151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 67,1% of micro businesses do not know what cryptocurrencies are. on: January 13, 2020, 04:42:06 PM
In Mexico, the UENI research firm conducted a study, in a field composed of 1287 Mexican microentrepreneurs, that is: supermarkets, restaurants, clothing sales, accessories, among others. In which it was concluded that 67.1% of respondents were unaware of the world of cryptocurrencies. The remaining 32.9% who said they knew the concept of cryptocurrencies, were asked another question, in which they were asked, if they would be willing to accept cryptocurrencies as a method of payment? and the result was that 50.4% of respondents he said no .

https://www.criptonoticias.com/negocios/67pc-pequenas-empresas-mexico-desconoce-bitcoin-criptomonedas/

What you think?
-Why does the population know cryptocurrencies?
-What would happen if at least 67.1% of microenterprises accepted Bitcoin as payment methods?
-Could it be that there are more countries like Mexico in which the population does not know or fear this new technology?

Its not surprising really and its not limited only to Mexico. The reason is not far-fetched. Majority of the businesses that would have been part of the survey would have been established by people who are advanced in age and they have been running their businesses before the advent of bitcoin which is a little above ten years. In all of these entrepreneurs, only few of them would be up to date in terms of technological advancement. The survey would give a more representation if focus is on businesses established within the last decade, run and managed by millennials.
152  Other / Politics & Society / Re: nyt and cnn publicly defame people entire societies still not being sued on: January 13, 2020, 03:34:25 PM
That's an op-ed, not a news article.  It's not written by a NYTimes journalist and does not reflect the stance of the NYTimes in any way.

It's literally just the opinion of a single person, which is why it says 'Opinon' at the very top,  in this case that person is Afua Hirs.

It does not matter if its not their opinion. Its on their platform and they are aware of it but because they know that such sentimental article would generate interest from every quarters thereby increasing their own visits and clicks, it does not matter and its enough for them to hide under the disclaimer that they are not responsible for the opinions of their users. NYTs website is not a forum that they are likely to be absolved from such irresponsibility.

When the news broke, I know its just a matter of time before some reacted to it and begin to make some conjectures all over the place. The problem is not even about the Prince and Meghan but the number of people that would not allow those innocent people to lead their lives in peace without connoting some emotions and thereby increasing emotions here and there.
153  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What will happen when people realise that the world is cooling and not warming? on: January 13, 2020, 02:08:31 PM
Government and political action is geared to climate change, but are they working on the wrong trend, and making things worse for us. We are entering a period of global cooling, but all the publicity is about global warming. We are destroying carbon sinks, and pretending that we are making things better by trying to reduce carbon dioxide - the lifebreath of the oxygen producers. Out world is based on carbon, and we need to recycle it to maintain life as we know it.

So what will happen when the public realises that the whole of the climate change industry is designed to reduce food production, and to reduce life as we know it?

This is something I have been trying to even get another view and I think why the global warming is on the high side is because large portion of the world is witnessing warm compared to the part that are witnessing the extreme cold you are referencing here. People in Canada would disagree strongly strongly that there is global warming because from their end, its like the cold is coming on another level and it does not seems it will stop anytime soon but for someone is West Africa, it seem the earth is further closer to the sun considering the level of heat as well as the extent at which rivers are drying up among other effects of global warming.
154  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitmain co-founder in legal war against shareholders of the company on: January 13, 2020, 01:04:33 PM
Topics of discussion such as this are more of politics than it relates to legal section of the forum. Its not a legal action for the adoption of bitcoin neither is it about laws making that relates to crypto currency couple with the tax element of things. This is purely board room politics that no one cares about. Its simply some capitalists fighting each other on who will get the maximum share of the cake and nothing else eventually they would meet in hotel lobby and greet each other after they must have even resolve to settle out of court with a bigger paycheck.
155  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-12-18] In Venezuela, buying up bitcoins, the rate is close to $ 9500 on: January 13, 2020, 11:56:02 AM
I came across one of the forums. Your opinion will be interesting. https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/eamndm/in_venezuela_buying_up_bitcoins_the_rate_is_close/

Isolated situations such as this is very common as it relates to crypto. We have seen happenings such as this in Brazil, I have read about Korea, Zimbabwe and now Venezuela. So, its not a big deal any longer because they have proven to be mere temporary increase in price which is not sustainable even to the point that it cannot be replicated to the entire market. Eventually, it will normalises without much ado.
156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's in the game, after all? on: January 11, 2020, 12:02:50 PM
The simple answer is that there is no one who would say is gambling for fun without an inherent motive of wanting to make money out of it. Let's even leave dice alone and move to sports betting. A lot of people I know that hides under the "fun" cotton are the people that put in the money they can afford to lose and not some money that could send them to depression really fast but then aside the fact that its "fun" they are already calculating on how much richer they would be should the game turn in their favor at the same time ready to curse out any team responsible for cutting their ticket.
157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling effect to husband and wife on: January 11, 2020, 06:47:33 AM
Your analogy sounded incomplete because you assume that its only the husband that can be gambling. Although, this is largely true as gambling has been associated to that gender but we have seen series of cases where the woman has been the menace of the home as a result of gambling and even some times the woman might be responsible for falling cheap of scams in the name of gambling or not taking a calculated risk thereby losing much money at once than all of the time the husband has engaged in gambling combined. Uncontrolled gambling is not good for anybody and that should be the message.
158  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ukraine wants to search Iran plane crash site for possible Russia missile debris on: January 10, 2020, 03:51:04 PM

There is nothing wrong in carrying proper investigation and there have been series of reports flying around. This kind of investigation considering the party carrying it out would either give credence to the already popular notion or even disprove it. The souls of those who happen to be on the wrong flight at the right time will continue to cry for justice if its really due to any form of human sabotage. May their soul rest in peace.
159  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 'Why would I want 10 Ferraris, when I can help my people' on: January 10, 2020, 01:51:32 PM
A man has made at least a start on discovering the meaning of human life when he plants shade trees under which he knows full well he will never sit.
D. Elton Trueblood

https://tribuna.com/en/liverpoolfc/news/3486001/

It's beautiful to see this.

People live for different purposes and for those who for other people did not do anything wrong and the same goes to those who are not doing charity as there is no compulsion in charity. If you can afford it, yes. The moment you did not deny other people their own means of livelihood because you want to acquire wealth, then if you chose to not do charity, I have no issue with you. You know the effort you put in into making money to even buy one Ferrari compared to 10 which does not come cheap.
160  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where do you stand on abortion? Let's have a civil debate. on: January 09, 2020, 05:02:22 PM
Its better I say I don't stand but would prefer to look at each situation as it presents itself as I see myself changing if some situations that beyond human comprehension should happen.

For example, in a case where the pregnancy is due to philandering activities then abortion should not be tolerated but in situations where it poses a threat to the life of the mother or its a case of rape which the victim is not ready to keep, then I would support an abortion for it the pregnancy to be terminated.
