Is there any hope for me? InstaWallet is a low-security wallet, which doesn't require username or password to access the wallet. Thus knowledge of the URL gives the ability to spend the funds. Your browser will cache the browsing history, so unless you clear history you should be able to recover the URL from your browser. I clear everything upon closing the browser I read a topic of 'brute forcing' instwallet urls. Could this apply to my situation? Thanks How much was that? From where you received the coins? From BitcoinFog so multiple addresses and for around 13 coins. Lol, good luck with that, and welcome to bitcoin. Btw, ctrl-c ctrl-v has never been so powerful at saving money.

slush, stick: I think you got it exactly right After reading this, I just thought of the name Popsicle 1) its slush (ice) on a stick2) its a tiny device that connects to USB sticks 3) you get the cold storage connotation from the name that is pretty good. isn't that a brand name, though? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popsicle> Popsicle is a popular brand of ice pop in the United States and Canada and became a genericized trademark for any type of ice pop due to its popularity Either way, these are different types of products. As one of my friends who works in the advertising business explained to me once, since the products are different categories, in this case food and electronics, you are OK legally (not sure how valid this was). Either way, think it would be a safe name to use. +1 "Slush" - cold storage connotation from the name, and sounds good in every language. (apparently not)

Disclosure: I'm the author of the article.
Yeah, the goal was flat-out to be 100% introductory. When we were coming up with ideas for this series, we were floating around various topics and the subject of Bitcoin came up and everyone basically went, "what?" I made the mistake of answering the email with a succinct answer and drafted myself into writing the piece. My goal (and I hope I achieved it) was to be technically accurate but explain Bitcoin to people who have heard the term but have no idea what it is or how it works.
I'm actually quite interested in writing something longer-form about the arbitrage around Bitcoin as well as the "investment funds" as I think it's an interesting macro economics study, but realistically speaking, it's difficult to dive into that sort of subject with our audience unless we have a primer first.
The good news is that the response to the article -- niggles about Mint Chip aside (and to be clear, I wasn't trying to say Mint Chip is just like Bitcoin, merely that it carries along some similar ideas, albeit with different requirements and executions) -- was positive and readers seem genuinely interested in learning more about the subject.
In fact, I was talking with one of my co-workers today about the possibility of exploring more topics in this vein. You have to start somewhere.
Nice to hear that, I enjoyed the article

Make sure that the receiver understands what he is doing. Of course it would be nice if the trader can provide the handholding sometimes necessary with a new user, that isn't a service that should be expected from every trader. The margins on the trade don't pay for much additional time spent for training or for chit-chat. The traders that do help the customers though will be rewarded with repeat business from those same customers and gain a residual boost through word of mouth promotion. +1 Stephen, personal experience taught me that

Right now it's possible to get bitcoins without adding trade value, but only because it's necessary to create the initial supply somehow. Even now, though, the amount of coins being traded on a regular basis is many times the supply of new coins being minted, and mining is only going to get less signifigant over time.
I will be interested to know more about it, please explain
