I guess the people dumping are the ones that had free distribution? I'm surprised of how little patience people have...

I would think so. It's actually less than I expected. All free coins have a certain amount of dumpers. Probably a lot of them dumped during yesterday's lows... it may go on for a while still though. Basically we need turnover from the freebie people to those who pay for it on an exchange.
1462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: August 06, 2014, 03:20:47 AM

They would be the most hated group of people in the crypto world if that happens but legally they are not required to launch this thing. If you read their TOS it reads like the rules of the worst company in the world Wink

It does read that way.

I don't disagree with any of the scenarios presented, just I wonder if there is any scenario where ipo people could actually make any money initially. I have difficulty coming up with one due to the insane amounts invested (otherwise I would have put a btc or two into this). It's like a much worse maidsafe scenario ... it'd seem really unlikely for investors to recoup their money early on. And in that case, of course it makes sense to just wait.

Hey guys, just discovered this coin! Sold all my Cloak and am going all in on SDC - got a good feeling about this one! Expecting a lot more of my fellow Cloakians to make the jump - even just to see what happens. Smiley

Welcome! Spread the word to your fellow cloak friends! This train hasn't left the station yet, but it will soon

Thanks very much my friend! It's always a pleasure to join a new community of good people Smiley

Hold the line...if you're out of cloak why are you still in here? Trying to convince me to chase the pump? Thats the easiest way to lose money....trust me

I wouldn't call the current movement on SDC a pump, or if it is, it's like the smallest pump ever. The price isn't a whole lot different than it was several days ago.

Although I would say there is too much talk of other coins going on here. I usually check this thread to see what is going on with Drk. Now I guess it'll be SDC. Shame there isn't a thread around here solely dedicated to Cloak.
1464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [APEX] APEX Coin | X13 | PoW/PoS Hybrid on: August 06, 2014, 12:32:04 AM

We are sorry you feel that way, but we had to learn some lessons by ear, and rather than sit and argue with the community, we felt we could get more done if we focused our energies on providing results to do the talking for us. We understand that there is no real way for the community to confirm whether we were really working in the background or not, but we felt it was more important to show with results, especially after we could not deliver on Tor as intended.

Well, you did keep some communication going at least. Like commenting you wouldn't release anything at all and sort of confirming in your own mind that a coin takeover took place. Great way to kill the price of the coin there.

Just to get the temperature.. what sort of features would YOU the community like to see in GPC?

DirectPayment System using Paypal/Credit Card.

Wherein you are using your wallet to pay an item you purchased online paying by GPC then automatically connected to PayPal or Any Online accepted Payment system, automatically converted from GPC to any currency accepted by online store.

Smiley

I like that idea, and figure if cryptos ever really catch on with the general public, that is sort of how things would have to work ... probably with a coin processor tied into a special card, which then converts crypto to fiat automatically.

I guess your idea is more like veribit, but instead GPC to BTC, it's GPC to Fiat?

Only problem is, that idea only really works when a coin has a lot of volume. Too little volume and if people use the payment system like they are supposed to be doing, it would crash the price of the coin.
1466  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] {GPC} GROUPCoin POS|10M|C-CEX| Decentralized Development on: August 06, 2014, 12:16:51 AM
I think the question to ask you is.. what is your long term goal for this coin?

We have to also think of a real world application...

On a different note, I think a new logo is much needed.

I sort of like the logo... reminds me of little lego people for some reason. But it could use some sprucing up, I'd agree there.

Bagholding 50k apex, the last coin i will ever have Sad

Goodbye sweet cryptoworld!

Hold strong, friend. We will make an announcement later tonight. Just finalizing some things first. Crypto, and APEX, is here to stay.

Don't mean to sound too negative, but perhaps you should change the coin's logo to that of a fish ... very fishy behavior all around on this coin. It's either a lesson in price manipulation, or in ineptitude -- not sure which yet.

Just to get the temperature.. what sort of features would YOU the community like to see in GPC?

A lot of that depends on what you have the funds for, or are capable of yourself.

For starters, I mentioned that you should contact coinpayments and get the coin under consideration there. It takes about 2 min of your time (they have a form to fill out). Get the coin listed on Bter for voting. A chinese exchange is always useful.

Coin-wise, anonymity seems to be popular, but not sure if that would be so doable. Perhaps you could consider having a dev port over DarkSend when it goes opensource, which I think is planned for several weeks from now? Not sure how masternodes would work on other coins... although the idea of  GPC masternodes all offering staking rewards sound profitable ... especially since I expect some folks could easily obtain several hundred nodes pretty cheaply right now.

Marketplaces and such are nice. New wallet features I expect would be nice too, although personally I'm not a big wallet person, so long as the thing works, it's good to me.
1469  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] {GPC} GROUPCoin POS|10M|C-CEX| Decentralized Development on: August 05, 2014, 09:29:54 PM

As far as the "ICO" wallet address is concerned, why? Throughout the whole sale I was very transparent about WHAT the funds were earmarked for... me! I (and many of you who have been involved in this coin can vouch) have never said that the BTC raised was for "development" purposes. I always, transparently and honestly stated that the BTC was my reward for powering a successful launch of a well distributed PoS coin. This takes work.

Bosman

One thing you may wish to clarify, especially for those new to the coin, is that we aren't talking about typical ICO numbers in the dozens of btc. The ICO was set up as a donation, and really small amounts (.01-.05) for the majority of the signups... guessing you may have taken in a couple of btc total, at best. I think most would say that is perfectly fine for a dev to take for himself. It's only a worry when a dev takes 20+ btc and doesn't spend any on the coin itself. I do hope that if there are minor expenses required for coin related things, that would you consider using some of your funds, but that would be more for down the road and of course up to you.
1470  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] {GPC} GROUPCoin POS|10M|C-CEX| Decentralized Development on: August 05, 2014, 07:46:53 PM

For me it was pretty quickly. UPM was doing nice as well and got even much volume. XCN the right looks unusual with their mini blockchain concept and it may be a point for nice demand on polo since this is cryptonight cavern. I am curios how much tweets has been collected within 2 hours...

i asked dev to post IPO fund address in cex room. he ignored. If coins are free they could be dumped at any price.

Well, you'd have to ask the exchanges as to what criteria they use. I've seen coins with no volume at all or coins that looked way more iffy than GPC get immediately listed.

As for coins that are free being dumped at any price ... yep. It's also possible that mined coins could get dumped at any price too. Any coin can be dumped. Usually with free coins we see initial dumping then gradual growth.

As for the ipo address, you should realize this wasn't exactly a traditional ipo. It was set up as a giveaway and very small donations ... it may be a couple of btc total that the dev got, tops. I wouldn't worry about that sort of amount, as I expect it to simply go towards the time he spent + new things for the coin.

Don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds like you are trying to look for a problem where there really isn't one.
1471  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] {GPC} GROUPCoin POS|10M|C-CEX| Decentralized Development on: August 05, 2014, 07:02:33 PM
how much did u paid to polo? coin that has been distributed figuratively saying ''for free'' got to the major exchange in hour after cex. This coin didn't even take the expanses to be mined. FREE COINS.

Just bumping. Is anyone able to set forth the above? My concern is why coin which is not really distinguishes itself among others on the background, got listed on two major exchanges in two hours? Wasn't this an attempt to push forward an elaboration on paid basis? Contribute something useful, just want have this enquiry resorted? Please don't FUD or question how high i sold as this is not the matter that does rely to my concern. Just answer what differs the common coin among others to get listed quite faster.

I can't speak for the dev or exchanges, but it's not uncommon for new coins to get listed on bittrex and/or polo rather quickly. I assume they used the number of tweets + the fact that the coin was getting really good volume on c-cex. It wasn't like they took it immediately or out of the blue. C-cex listed it first and it was doing really well there ... they probably saw that they could get some money from the fees, and polo grabbed it first. Then bittrex followed, figuring why let polo take all the money.

Although Bittrex may be considered a 'major' exchange now due to its volume, in reality they pretty much grab any new coin they can. They are hardly particular, and most of the time it seems they never see a new coin they don't like.

MintPal + Cryptsy are the ones that are more picky, but even there, they seem less picky that they used to be (Conceal coin being an example w/ cryptsy).
1472  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] {GPC} GROUPCoin POS|10M|C-CEX| Decentralized Development on: August 05, 2014, 06:16:34 PM
I generally assume many of those who paid something in the ICO will only sell a portion of coins to cover costs + maybe some profit. For freebie people... who knows... they should just hold, as the profit for the smaller amount of coins they have is somewhat minimal. I mean, why bother for like a .04 profit ... might as well wait and see if it can turn into something. Then again, freebie people always dump for whatever they can get, at least for a short while.

As for future stuff, I believe the dev said he was going to provide a whitepaper soonish, and then depending on the funds available, I expect we can start discussing new things to add to the coin.

In the meanwhile, getting the coin listed in some other places is always good. I suggest the dev contact coinpayments, and see about getting listed there.

Bter has voting (or at least I assume they still do), so it may not be a bad idea to get listed on their voting list. Getting on one of the Chinese exchanges is always a good idea, if possible.
1473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: August 05, 2014, 06:05:19 PM
Just a question... not trying to start up a Darkcoin vs Cloakcoin jerk-o-thon.  Is there any guarantees in the Darkcoin system that a masternode can just keep your coins?  I don't know a whole lot about masternodes... it's just a honest question.  Is there some form of m-of-n escrow?

It's done with a cold wallet.  So perfectly safe.

You should post this in the darkcoin thread Smiley

I hope people don't take this the wrong way, but people here seem way too preoccupied with Drk. I randomly check this thread once in a while for info on Cloak, and I end up learning more about Drk than I do Cloak.

I hold some Drk, I hold some Cloak, I hold lots of different coins. This coin tribalism stuff, where people feel they need to knock one coin, to boost theirs, gets somewhat tiresome after a while. I understand the mindset, and understand a lot of fud has been spread both ways, but I think if people simply focused on Cloak here that the coin may do better.
1474  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] {GPC} GROUPCoin POS|10M|C-CEX| Decentralized Development on: August 05, 2014, 04:27:46 PM
this is starting to look like another pump and dump

Although of course possible, I would say, not yet.

All free coins have dumpers, Comm did, ITC did... it just happens. Basically people just need to wait out those who got freebie stakes to dump. I recall Comm being sold at like 10 sats for a while when it first started out... rising to over 250.

Also keep in mind there are always price corrections too. Coin is sitting at 600-800 right now, which is about exactly where it was yesterday early evening-ish, so I wouldn't worry just yet. A lot of the higher orders yesterday were pretty low volume, so it's not like it was chugging along at 1400 with enough support to sustain that price ... there had to be some fallback.

Anyway, that's how I would look at it. Assuming the dev adds new stuff as time goes on, price should stabilize and rise.

Question about the poll choices... as far as anonymity goes, what type of anonymity are we talking about? A centralized mixer? Something else?

Assuming the release date is correct, has the ICO details been figured out yet? Exchange used or escrow, coin price, and such?

Repeating my question, as there was no answer --

Quote
Question for the devs ... did you get this idea from a fellow a ways back who was thinking of making a Landmarks coin, mentioned here -- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=593714.0

It was a decent idea, so am wondering if you just copied it or are working with the original dev for that project?
1477  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: i want to give 100 BTC to one user on bitcointalk. tell me why it is U. on: August 04, 2014, 04:53:45 PM
OP is a fucking sadist that wont give a satoshi to anyone on this thread, he is doing this and laughing at you desperate faggots that are crying hoping for someone to give a free ride to you out of your misery.

A bit of an exaggeration, but sort of correct I expect. Probably more like trolling or a weird social experiment.
Some folks are going a little overboard with the altruistic responses ... expecting someone to say they will feed and shelter all the homeless cats and dogs... all the homeless people too... and give them cats and dogs while they are at it ... then perhaps adopt sick orphans as a bonus.

If they were truly altruistic, they'd say bypass donations here and the OP should just pick a respectable charity and convert the btc to fiat, and donate directly.
1478  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: i want to give 100 BTC to one user on bitcointalk. tell me why it is U. on: August 04, 2014, 05:59:23 AM

Wow, how would one choose a winner if this really was a real thing?

I mean, the sob stories are getting ridiculous and a lot of them have to be bogus.

Really entertaining to see how low [and how creative] some people will stoop, which may be the point of this whole thing. lol.

Expect that is the case.

Sort of amusing reading some of the replies so far. I think the strangest so far is that guy who wants the 100 BTC so he can build better muscles. Not a sob story of course, just... well, sort of bizarre.

1479  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: i want to give 100 BTC to one user on bitcointalk. tell me why it is U. on: August 04, 2014, 04:06:05 AM
Curious what people will respond with here.

I guess a lot of responses will go from 100% unselfish, charities and such, to 100% selfish, loose women and drugs... to sob stories.

Being skeptical and assuming most of the people posting in this forum is lying half the time, I don't exactly believe the OP. But playing the game, I'd probably invest some in various coins (or just keep it in btc), cash some out, buy some gifts for family... and that would probably be it. As stated by BCX, it's a nice chunk of money, but not like anyone can retire to an island on it.
