1501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devcoin on: April 21, 2013, 05:24:08 AM
After the 4/20 Rally (early May), I'm going to promote DevCoins like a MOTHERFUCKER. I'm gonna tell people "it costs less than a penny to support independent artists around the world." and link them to Vircurex and tell them to buy 1 or 2 DVC, since they only cost .0009 USD So 1 penny buys you 10 devcoins and gives money to an artist.

Then I'm going to try to make my own site as I said previously. If I can get a few million DVC (from my writing on devtome) I'll make a forum where you get paid DVC once a month or once every 2 months based on your post count. Then make a store where they can use the DVC to buy stuff, and also let outsiders buy stuff. And exchange for BTC and USD.

I REALLY think DVC can help EVERYONE and I really want to help it.

Yeah but how much is that for the article? If DVC is a fraction of a penny then the artist gets a fraction of a penny?

I support the idea in principle but in practice it doesn't seem to be working right now.  You would have to give an artist millions of Devcoin.

I think these are absolutely amazing ideas of FinShaggy Smiley
1502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We need a separate Litecoin sub-forum or move the LTC community on: April 21, 2013, 05:18:35 AM
Word is they are not going to do that. I understand what you mean though.

CHILD BOARDS FOR THE FOLLOWING RIGHT NOW!

LTC Litecoin -  second only to BTC , faster than BTC, Smaller efficiency gap between GPUs and CPUs , ASIC-hostile

NMC Namecoin merged mined with BTC, used for alternative p2p domain system

PPC PPcoin   Proof Of Stake [very innovative, low energy ] , compatibile with BTC miners

TRC Terracoin based on BTC, fast difficulty adjustment, initialy flaved but corrected

DVC Devcoin merged mined with BTC, 90% of generation goes to foundation, 10% to miners

NVC NovaCoin -  scrypt hashing[like LTC] , proof of stake [like PPC] , controversial start

FRC Freicoin - 4.89% anual demurrage. for the first 3 years 80% block subsidy goes to foundation, 20% to miners

http://bitcoinstarter.com already exists.

This is an interesting take on the idea though.
1505  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Buying BFL debt. $0.10 per dollar owed. on: April 21, 2013, 04:33:15 AM
If I understand this correctly by "selling their debt" for $0.10 per dollar owed people are betting that there is less than a 1 in 10 chance BFL will ship. And they are not even going to try and get the refund themselves?

I can't imagine why anyone would do this, ever.
1506  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: wts 8 btc for Paypal on: April 21, 2013, 04:17:41 AM
Whoever buys from you may well do a chargeback through paypal and you might lose all your coins - there is nothing you can do. Don't sell for paypal. Please
1507  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: this forum sucks on: April 21, 2013, 04:15:17 AM
a couple weeks ago i was logged on to this forum for like 10 hours straight reading stuff on other forums.  so how do i accumulate the 4 hour forum time so i can post on the other sections of forum?

You should be reading things on this forum if you are serious about BTC
1508  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: this forum sucks on: April 21, 2013, 04:12:19 AM
let's try to build up a good forum at http://BitForum.org

this forum here sucks .. i cant even respond to threads anywhere but here. What is the point?  I read a thread I'm interested in, and I can't respond.  And I have 4hrs+ and more than 5 posts.

LAME!

The entire BTC community lives here. I did my newbie time as fast as possible (it didn't even bother me) - I really don't think it's a big deal and now I've been here for a while I can see why this is done.
1509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We need a separate Litecoin sub-forum or move the LTC community on: April 21, 2013, 03:59:44 AM
I may well be setting up altcointalk.org in the coming weeks. Stay tuned  Wink

1511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FC Feathercoin Bounties, setting up feathercoin.cc, how you can help or earn FC on: April 21, 2013, 03:57:01 AM
Id be willing to create an FC exchange, but I would need some sort of script as I couldn't create it from scratch

Great! Someone has suggested contacting exchange.bytecoin.in to ask them if we could use their script which is a great idea - but to claim the bounty the exchange must be secure (with SSL at least), and hacker proof.
Ive contacted the people at bytecoin, hopefully we can get this running

Great work - I'm happy to help as well if you need it - as long as no one thinks there is a conflict of interest here if I work on this project as well.
Great, im gonna start mining with my sh*t GPU right now to Cheesy

Have fun  Grin
1512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devcoin on: April 21, 2013, 03:51:41 AM
Are there any objections to me creating new threads here in the alt currencies section of Bitcointalk to:

- Explain the DVC bounty for compiling a stable windows installer
- Explaining the DVC bounty for a new DVC exchange or for an existing exchange to integrate DVC?

I would like to play a role in making these things happen, and I believe that as it is all hidden away in this mega long thread these bounties are not getting the exposure they deserve in the forum here.

Please let me know as I would like to do this Smiley

+1 for this ... +3 to create a concise list of all current and proposed bounties (some seem to be awaiting a time when devcoin is valuable enough to actually make a worth while bounty, in the meantime they are just hopes and dreams)

Well the DVC exchange bounty translates to between 9 and 14 BTC depending on the DVC/BTC exchange rate - no small amount these days Smiley I'd be more than happy to run a DVC bounty thread here on the alt coin sub forum.
1513  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-04-19 Institutional Investor ...a Digital Recasting of the Monetary System? on: April 21, 2013, 03:45:16 AM
Fascinating - nice to see an article (unfortunately a little short) looking philosophically at the possible future effects of BTC at the intersection of technology and money. Perhaps we end up with a post modern situation of literally thousands of currencies (many of them crypto) for people all around the world to use? BTC would of course be the gold standard of these though Smiley Hopefully.
1514  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1000! on: April 21, 2013, 02:33:06 AM
My 1000th post, that is, haha! Grin

I've also been logged in for more than one month on Bitcointalk. This is a clear sign I either need to get a life - or, alternatively, get some more BTC! Grin

*chink!*

You already know the answer - get some more BTCGrin

1516  Other / Off-topic / Re: Guess what's inside. on: April 21, 2013, 02:31:00 AM
I'm almost tempted to open it up, now knowing that its value isn't really that much, thus possibly pursuing its contents, then figuring out how to improve upon the idea via incorporating Bitcoin into the mix.

Anybody want to turn this into a community project?

Sounds interesting - please give more details
1517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Western Union considering using Bitcoin on: April 21, 2013, 02:29:03 AM
Damnit, I wish other places would jump on board like "NEWEGG,Tigerdirect, microcenter". We need a large authorized dealer hardware store to accept bitcoin. ugh.

Good news to hear that WU might jump on board, but we need more places too, not these raggedy website shops like bitcoin store.

I wish newegg would!

Bitcoinstore is pretty amazing actually - they stock so many products! But yes some more big players on board is definitely needed and I am sure it will happen in good time - remember anyone can send an e-mail to a company explaining why they should accept Bitcoin Smiley I think some people are doing this daily...
1518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DVC - Devcoin on: April 21, 2013, 02:26:36 AM
I think BTC-e only has five decimals in its prices, so it lacks the three digits actually usually used by DeVCoin price-in-bitcoins.

-MarkM-

Yes I believe that the decimal places issue was behind BTC-e dropping the coin - and nothing to do with DVC as a currency on its own merits.
