I was interested in this idea when I first heard it, then more interested as I looked over it further, then very interested, until I blew my load and then I had no interest whatsoever.

You should sell Kleenex instead
1542  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 16, 2014, 02:03:42 AM
any guesses as to exactly when the divs arrive?
1543  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: May 13, 2014, 09:15:50 PM
if the data center can host ~180 Ths max, then we will need 3 more just like it to be at all competitive in the mining game (Petamine has ~700 ~500-600 Ths up and running right now, and they started in October 2013!)

what are the plans for expansion? will the focus be on chip sales (if a full-custom ActM chip ever materializes)? ActM's DC seems like it is up against a wall here and I hear nothing regarding this problem or any solution.

yes I'm wrong. I posted without thinking there. deleted.

seems legit

1546  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kids Are Using Bitcoin to Buy Fake IDs Online on: May 13, 2014, 02:10:29 AM
you need ID to get verified on the exchanges now. where do they get the btc for those IDs?
1547  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Fractals. on: May 12, 2014, 11:26:51 PM
fractals work with an element of randomness as well, do they not? Chaos theory and all that? I'm waaaaay out of my depth here, but the loose understanding I have of fractal science suggests that they are not useful as indicators of future movements, i.e. they may go up, down or sideways, depending on a myriad of external factors. (?)

jeez, this EROWID science stuff...I'm just digging myself deeper (derper)
1548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BPD] Bitcoin Pizza Day - CELEBRATE! on: May 12, 2014, 11:15:38 PM
on may 22nd we all should buy a pizza using bitcoin.

so lets get everyone finding a way to get a pizza to their house with bitcoin

5000 btc per pizza in 2010remember it was a 10k btc tx for TWO pizza's
0.05 btc per pizza in 2014
it just hit me..............100,000% bitcoin value rise in 4 years.... WOW!

this would be great content for a flyer to be used to get pizza joints to accept and educate about BTC. my kid came up to me all worried yesterday saying how she heard bitcoin has crashed. I had to explain to her how I paid around 20-40$ each for the majority of my btc holdings and that 470$ doesnt even phase me.

Maybe we need a new btc slogan? "Bitcoin; It's the pizza of money!" lol
1549  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: May 12, 2014, 11:08:46 PM
just wait a few more months, you have your shares (despite their current low value/low volume) and you can get your divs which should come soon... colored coins are now live, but I would prefer to see someone other than myself using them successfully, without bugs or other problems, then I totally want in.

Its just a little too soon for my comfort level, but, mark my words, in just a few months, probably before summer is over, cc will be proven solid and ubiquitous, so everyone will use them, without question.

I also feel cc mass adoption will increase the usd/btc price as a result. I cant wait either, but be patient....good things are just around the corner!

just my 2 bits
1550  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 12, 2014, 11:01:56 PM
Hey I was just curious about whether there was any update in regards to if stocks will be traded via Colored Coin in the near future, assuming that it works fine.

I think I remember it being mentioned as an option back when BTC-TC closed down.

i would think it best to wait and see how coloured coins work out first. there are sure to be bugs, and wouldn't you rather see some other security deal with that before you throw all your value into it?

dont get me wrong, cc is the future, but the future just aint quite here yet. give it a few months, is my thinking, and when its proven 100% reliable and user friendly, boom....everyone will be using it, without question.
1551  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: May 10, 2014, 09:57:54 AM
When the dividends start coming, the share value will react. Let's hope both are upward movements.
1552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ashton Kutcher "Bitcoin...sort of like internet in the 80s." on: May 10, 2014, 09:50:09 AM
He should of said "of the 90s" because it more accurately describes something easily accessible to everyone. I suppose he's too young to really know that, or dumb...but he's got a lot of people listening to him, I hope they understand what he means and follow through on his lead.

Dumb people are part of the economy too. The larger part, I'm afraid, but there's little can be done about that.
1553  Economy / Securities / Re: HAVELOCK - Switching to bits? on: May 10, 2014, 05:59:08 AM
If you understand the very basic fundamentals of btc, it shouldn't make any difference.

Of course, it will be hilarious to see all the clueless press reports of "BTC explodes to one million times value overnight!" When they (mis)report it. Lol
1554  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Fractals. on: May 10, 2014, 05:32:58 AM
I would also like to see same type of charting applied to internet adoption. I'm fascinated but I'll silent now and let the people who know what they're talking about speak.

Good work bro
1555  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Fractals. on: May 10, 2014, 05:05:07 AM
Ok, I vaguely get it, I think...
The charts would make more sense with a detailed legend.
I'm no math.

Intriguing enough for me to do some independant research though.

Thanks for this  Smiley

Edit- oddly enough, just before I saw your thread, I was just remarking that the (general) mood (sentiment)across bitcointalk has noticeably taken a turn towards more positive compared to the gloom of the last couple weeks. Bullish?
1556  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Fractals. on: May 10, 2014, 04:46:57 AM
Could you use this for prediction? My caveman brain sees it always going down (smaller price)
The most I know about fractals is stuff stoned hippies have told me at raves.
It's like the golden mean in art design isn't it? Of course, that would mean everything is constantly being reduced?
Trippy none the less.
1557  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: May 10, 2014, 04:30:39 AM
Judging by the tone of his posts today, Ken is obviously in a good mood.

This bodes well, I like it!
1558  Other / Off-topic / Re: It's official! The Bitcoin Foundation has an accused pedophile on its board. on: May 09, 2014, 10:00:31 PM
huh? what the...I don't even?

The fuck are you guys talking about? who did what to who?
1559  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dropping volume on: May 09, 2014, 09:51:33 PM
we will not see any significant rise in the usd price of BTC for a couple years if not more. That is, of course, if it can survive the press and general public's ignorance, derision and fear. No one wants to step into a punchline, and btc may just dwindle into obscurity. If you were not fully aware of this when you got in, well... I am very sorry for you...you should have read a few of the threads in this forum. never invest more than you can afford to lose!
1560  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Lawsuit Discussion on: May 09, 2014, 09:28:47 PM
these are the same as penny stocks. most fail, some don't, but they all cost only pennies a share, so one is able to invest small amounts to see what happens. at IPO there were mixed reports on Ken, but some trusted members had said they had worked with him in the past and saw a determined capable programmer and engineer, if somewhat unconventional and difficult to communicate with. My experience holding a small stake in actm has proven that these statements are mostly fair. However Ken's timing and management is terrible enough to tank this company, and he is often too stubborn to realize he his headed down a dead end. He is also one of the very worst communicators I have ever encountered, he over-promises and under-delivers consistently, and continually shifts blame for all failures to some vaguely identified "project managers" and "PR teams" which seem to be outright fabricated persons. As far as I can tell actm entire staff is ken and 2 teenagers (possibly family members) Regarding his fiscal trustworthiness... the jury is still out on that one... but the odds are not in his favor.

I threw some pennies at actm in the beginning and now it looks like those pennies were wasted, but...pennies. Unless you have solid insider information, you have very little to go on in terms of viability of any given offering. Due diligence will only get you so far when there is so little known about the principals involved, and only greedy fools throw large amounts at untried entities hoping they will win the lotto, they have no right to bitch, its their own damn fault they are losing their shirts. I really believe most of these supposed lawsuits that get discussed in this sub are empty threats made by butthurt gamblers hoping to light a fire under the operators' arses. Do any of them believe they will get even one satoshi after they get lawyers involved? If they have that large a stake in any of these "securities" then they are obviously not smart enough to know how things work.

All the same, I would love to see actm pull itself together and make my pennies shine...I'm saving up for a piece of dubble bubble ;-)
