1 block doesnt take long to confirm as valid.. 120 do, since generally one wouldnt expect to generate 120 blocks within a few seconds

Also cooled by liquid nitrogen! Sounds great but I have to see it in action to believe it.
and fueled by soylent green

i never ran mine above 80oC, but im sure theyre perfectly fine up to 90oC or so
for 6-12 months maybe
they throttle themselves when they reach 100oC
re: VRM temps, yeah, i didnt care about that unless it went above 100oC. anything below 115-120 should be ok

Does anyone know why with Ufasoft CPU miner, I keep getting "Stratum authentication failed", but when I add --no-stratum it works?
haha, too funny! 1) dont CPU mine 2) there are faster CPU miners It was just an example, I'm getting the same error with poclbm. another horrible miner use cgminer or pooler's CPUminer hmm this pooler's cpuminer better than minerd? i have some xeons not doing anything, they get like 35mhash with minerd oh, cool, looks like it was updated just a few hrs ago hoho, that is minerd. but i didnt know there was a new version ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) [2013-06-15 14:30:06] thread 12: 4357092 hashes, 1793 khash/s [2013-06-15 14:30:06] accepted: 1/1 (100.00%), 26910 khash/s (yay!!!) stratum wouldn't work for me either

i think it's odd that only one person in this thread has heard the term 'rick rolled' used in a real life situation

Fighting over so few transactions per second as are possible right now is in my opinion too limiting. I would agree to not having 1 TB as MAX_BLOCK_SIZE, but 10-100 MB should be still possible. A 56k modem can still keep up with ~30 MB blocks. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) Anyone that is still using a modem probably won't have a digital connection, so they won't get 56kbps, it's more like 3.5-4KB/s, 35kbps or so. Not that it really matters, since even at 56kbps it wouldn't come close to keeping up. At the "real" optimal speed you'd get, about 4KB/s, it'd take over 2 hours. Well, I forgot that the block chain can be compressed... so if you were downloading with zmodem or something instead of the bitcoin client, it'd probably be a bit faster

Lets face it, BTC is going to die sooner or later for GPU miners. As a few have said, anything SHA based is pretty much stuffed.
Then scrypt will face similar problems with the increase of GPU miners switching, difficulty will increase making it harder for small time miners to stay in. Only the heavy hitters will stay afloat.
The surprise for scrypt miners will come when mining scrypt is not profitable either. Who would trade ASIC earned BTC for GPU earned LTC at an effective loss? Yes I do believe the LTC economy is just an accessory to the BTC economy and can't stand up on its own right. Agreed But I guess if it helps me sell off the rest of my 5xxx... I have 4 left out of like 20 a month ago. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) ed: oh, i'll still be profitable next difficulty cycle, assuming price stays > $100..... about $400 after elec. after figuring in "standard" equipment depreciation, $200-$300? not worth the effort, but I guess it's not a loss waiting for stuff to sell

Why do you think this is killing, please explain
They have no competition and sell their h/w with 8+ mths payback time. Their competitors cannot ship in quantity to compete. If they did, the prices of ASICMiner products would have to come down to 1-3 month range. Right now they are the only game in town, so they make huge profit selling those blades/sticks. Do you think people will stop buying their next blade? It will sell like there is no tomorrow. Unless BFL starts shipping minirigs in quantity, or avalon ships their batch #2/#3, chips and announce a 2nd gen chip. eh, it seems a bit foolish to me if you believe bitcoins will go up in value enough to warrant purchasing one of those, then you should just buy the bitcoins off the market i mentioned something about how specialized equipment leads to more centralization, not less, and then someone responded about how all this extra hashing power is good for the network (like 8 months ago?) i guess to chase off the cpu bot miners, though im not sure the positives outweigh the negatives

I'm at 32 shares, about 25 being my own, w/ 1 dead share, thru the early morning hours-4PM. Now is when my link gets really crappy, so will probably be around 15-20% DOA from here on out.
Anyway, ^^ is luck. But it's 10s per cycle, so 180ms latency shouldn't cause a whole lot of DOA. Packetloss will.

i would sell these on eBay, you probably wouldnt have much trouble making $350 even after fees
i cleared ~$300 on a ref 5970 and auction was only live about 8 hrs.. could have set buy-it-now price higher. this was about a week ago

Wow, that's good to hear. Yeah you're right, I always saw not the greatest reviews on the lower BTU models. I was looking at a 13,000 btu but have been on the fence because of the high power draw. But if you say this model helps quite a bit, I might just grab one ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Good call on the model difference difference too, I didn't realize. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Yeah, I was thinking about how I had just wasted $290 at Lowe's (had to pay sales tax) when I could have gotten it for much cheaper at newegg... then I noticed that 935 watts crap and also only 28.8 pints dehumidification vs the stated 38.4 pints on the Lowe's 8000 BTU model... btw, I just found this: http://www.searsoutlet.com/8-000-BTU-Evaporative-Portable-Air-Conditioner-Dehumidifier-and-Fan/d/product_details.jsp?md=ct_md&pid=64284&mode=seeAllWTF!! even though it's the crap model, i'm considering buying another, haha (wonder how long a warranty they give on 'reconditioned' items?) ahh, nm, the cheapest one within 50 miles of me is $220. so not worth it.

How long does it take the cool the room? How many vid cards
well, the cool thing about it is that it's the 8,000 BTU but only uses 650 watts. it says 760 watts on the specification sheet I think but I hooked it up to the kill-a-watt and it was generally around 620-635 & sometimes going up to 650. i didn't used to mine in this room but it'd get hot from the computer, anyway... but now I mine on a 7950 + 7850 constantly + the computer itself (with 3 hard drives, tons of peripherals, etc, because it's my main comp) and a few other things (alarm clock/radio, etc).. probably about 1000 watts of heat. i have 2 circuits in here, & I may end up moving one of my other machines in here.. it gets too cold, really. i'm wearing a long sleeve shirt and some pants + socks and it's like 90o outside... the problem is the 'auto' mode isn't configurable and it doesn't drop until the room temp drops to 68o... and then it turns on the fan.. haha... 12x14 room, 168 sq ft. you still have to hook the exhaust up to the window but it's not totally ghetto like some swamp AC. my main problem with it was the dehumidifier tank was filling up too fast (northeast texas, etc).... but I solved that by just putting the unit on a platform and hooking the hose up to drain into a big 5 gallon container instead of whatever it holds itself (probably just 1/2 a gallon or so). it would fill up every 6 hours or so and shut off... this way, it just drains itself constantly and i only have to empty it every other day or so. i'm pretty surprised, really. most of the portable AC units get horrible reviews, but this one you'll usually see at 4 stars +.. I bought mine at Lowe's, but it's probably cheaper online somewhere.... you'd want to make sure you get the GB-PAC-08E4 model instead of the one that NewEgg has http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16896808095, that's the KY80, it has less dehumidifying capacity & uses more watts. less efficient. this is the good one: http://www.lowes.com/pd_367199-37610-GL-PAC-08E4_0

The mining server is currently hosted at Hetzner. For a while they had 40% packetloss on parts of their network. Not sure if it was a bad router or another customer being DDoSed.
They seemed to have fixed the issue now though. 0% packetloss.
Update: Hetzner confirms it was a DDoS against another customer on the same subnet.
hetzner's responses to DDoS own ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

There are no more of these being made and it is the same as having a brand new 5870 except with better memory. I am only getting rid of them because my house can't handle the extras but I still have 16 of the new ones and all 10 of the used ones.
It sounds like you're going to be stuck with a lot of GPUs then, until you realize your price gouging is ridiculous. i'm selling my 5870s because they anger me and drive me to insane fits of rage it appears his problem is simply a space issue, perhaps he doesnt mind his investment dropping in value

I don't think any new customers are going to take there time to read that absurdly long post me neither i read the whole thing, but i was never planning on preordering from BFL, anyway. these other people that are preordering at the moment, it probably flies right over their head and difficulty levels going up 15% seems very conservative to me
