1581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez on: March 14, 2023, 10:12:56 PM
^^ Any fight has it's price, Caleb Plant though will be too small for 175 lbs, in my opinion. For David, yes, let's see if he can do what he has been talking about, on how he is going to knock out Plant.

So this is a measuring stick, sort of a gauge on how he can move on his career. I mean, he seems to be underestimating Caleb and disrespecting the guy and hopefully it won't backfire on him. And if he wins this fight convincingly, then his name might be in contention for the Canelo fight. Still up to Canelo on whoever he wanted next.

Caleb Plant at 175? Did he have some plans to climb on that certain weight class because that's quite exciting because if Canelo was embarrassed on his 2nd attempt, what more about Caleb Plant who doesn't have Canelo's skills.

And for David's perspective towards Plant, it's either he is indeed underestimating the latter just because he failed on his campaign towards Canelo or David was just messing around and playing some mind games with him to distract him from his plans. But that moves may have a consequence because the way I see it, Plant is serious this time and David might be a victim.
1582  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 14, 2023, 09:40:00 PM
we don't know their ulterior motives but maybe they are seeing some advantages for their boxer. we can't really tell what they are thinking on this matter, as they may have strategy how to go around inside the ring without feeling drained or of that sort. well, we will see if this will really help Garcia's upcoming fight. but a big deviation of weight after rehydration may give issues to his body while fighting. so better stay on his comfortable weight where his body is not being forced to.
And I think that will be the issue. That's the motive of the clause, to give Garcia a hard time.
After the weigh-ins, he should preserve that wait until fight night which means a lot of things. Powerless, stressed, and more. The effects will be lighter punches, exhaustion, and could easily get irritated which Davis could take advantage of. It sounds unfair but Davis' camp is using the rule book on their side especially knowing Garcia's body build is way too big for that weight class.
We will definitely see a KO here. Either Garcia will shock Davis because it didn't affect him or he will be lying in the mat because of the wittiness of his opponent using the "clause" as their upper hand.

I think that is the main goal on the camp of Tank Davis, they see Ryan as a very big 135 lbs so they have to insert that into the clause, that he can only add 10 lbs for rehydration, no more no less.

So they just want it to be fair for Davis, although for fans, it seems that Tank wanted to take advantage of Ryan Garcia. But it's a done deal already, Ryan is fine and definitely still has the height and reach advantage. Power might be the same, as well as the speed. So maybe whomever make the first mistake, but suffer that knock/down or out.

It's fair enough for both camps because both of them used a favor as Ryan Garcia only wanted 136 catchweight fight instead of 135, so Davis's camp also made a rehydration clause because even if 136 is just a 1 pound shy, that will still matter for a guy like Garcia who is much taller and that is why Davis also got his own rule to overrule Garcia on that one. Now, as we can see, Davis have much more edge and probably one of the important factors why he can dominate Garcia as the latter is very much dehydrated.
1583  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 14, 2023, 08:40:47 PM
Warriors won!
Steph and Klay were hot in the 1st half making a 25-point lead. But the Suns never gave up and pursued a close battle, they did and even got close to a 3-point lead. But the early foul trouble and bonus for the Warriors at 6 minutes left in the 4th are what made the difference, then there's Jordan Poole who suddenly got hot.
Did they shake hands after the game? I didn't see it. Seems like even Damion Lee is creating some trouble against Jamychal Green in garbage time.

Great to hear that the Warriors are back! They seem to be on a roll lately, with two consecutive wins against tough opponents in the NBA, the Bucks and the Suns. It's always fun to watch Thompson shoot his normal, and he seems to be more comfortable now in the 3 point line. He has been consistent lately with his shooting, which is great news for the Warriors.

One of the key factors why they managed to end their losing streak is because they are now back again in synched, and also they are back playing at their own homecourt which is already proven throughout the years that they are hard to defeat on their own soil. Those 4 games somehow sucks for sure and contrary to their home record but the Warriors are just too bad one the road and you can see it in their record as they got 7-26.
1584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs John Ryder - May 6th in Mexico on: March 14, 2023, 08:20:28 PM
Not that surprising because we have already heard this man's name even before Canelo Alvarez underwent to a much needed surgery because his wrist has been in pain since the Canelo-GGG III fight. I'm just glad that this fight is now a done deal because people are waiting for Canelo's return as he have a lot of boxer now queued to fight him afterwards, Canelo may put his belt on the line on this one but let's not forget that this is just a tune-up fight.

1586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Shiba Inu still worth it? on: March 13, 2023, 06:05:30 PM
I'm not going to say that Shiba Inu is just an ordinary meme coin but can take as well to think that it was worth enough to invest with.
But of course, Shib isn't a mere meme token. It's way beyond that, by my assessment of it. I believe there must be something the numerous exchanges see in it to warrant them rushing to list it that ordinary observers may not see. At a point Binance offered staking on it with other coins. I ain't sure that feature is still there any more as I didn't get to find it again (I just checked it now). Shiba Inu isn't a bad investment for me. However, like every other crypto investment, the caveat emptor of investing only what one won't miss should still apply.

I don’t fully agree with you, SHIB got hyped for some reasons and all exchanges want to make money so it got listed on all the big exchanges. In my eyes SHIB has no real use, it is a meme coin but I still hold some. You never know that the price explodes lol.

Yes, of course. Don't be fooled with those words saying that Shiba Inu is not an ordinary meme coin because everything is the same as long as we're talking about meme coins, what are they talking about? If there's an ordinary meme coin, then I bet there's also special meme coin? Grin

Anyway, kidding aside, we cannot really force these people if they truly want to support and believe Shiba Inu despite the fact that it has no utility to be something in the future and it's all on them for investing on such risky coins just because they see it as a rare meme coin. This coin being listed in different crypto exchanges certainly doesn't mean that they somehow got a future and is worth to be invested, don't forget that these exchanges are business and they are just taking advantage for the people who are willing to take some risks towards meme coins like SHIB.
1587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: March 13, 2023, 03:25:33 PM
PPV and obviously the live gates where the money will come in, and they are guarantee to have millions already. So yes this could be one of the biggest fights for the year and who knows, could be fight of the year if both of them left their hands go and fight till they take each other's head.

And the hype is already there, all they have to do is create more drama in their face-off, which they did already and that's why the tickets have been sold already. Only contention is the PPV numbers I guess and there are a lot of speculations on how much they will get either in US or worldwide, but I think it will still be big numbers.

If they sell out the arena, they will undoubtedly make a lot of money in ticket sales. Just imagine the price of those tickets

Quote
How much do tickets for Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia cost?
Tickets for Davis vs. Garcia start at $729, per TicketSmarter.

Prices then range from $800, $900, $1,000, $2,000, $3,000, $4,000, $5,000, $6,000, $8,000, $10,000, and $11,731.
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/boxing/news/gervonta-davis-vs-ryan-garcia-ticket-prices-las-vegas/h7dvl5lqvkxbzhtjmjb334lo

Only true boxing fans would be interested in attending the fight in person. While the ticket prices may be expensive, there will undoubtedly be people willing to pay the price to witness these two great boxers face off in the ring.
IMO, those digits stated above are much more expensive compared to the Mayweather vs McGregor fight with just a starting price of $500.

Anyway, these tickets are somehow normal for a fight with a magnitude like this and the fact that it has been marinated throughout the years makes organizers job much easier as they know that it would sell-out in just maybe few couple of days after they publish it to the public, give or take 10 days. It might be expensive for some but yes, if you are an avid fan, you surely don't want to let this slide.

1588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 13, 2023, 02:57:21 PM

Anyway, I will only bet on the Lakers-Knicks today and will go all in with the Lakers. The Knicks are kind of struggling though they are the one team who has a very good road game record. Still, I'll go with the Lakers even though without Lebron. They are playing very well, and would love to see them continue their winning streak to 4. Smiley Good luck to all bettors.

Unfortunately, the Lakers weren't able to play with the same intensity they showed when they beat the Knicks. This time, they lost the game with AD only scoring 17 points and having a very bad free throw shooting night, making only 1 out of 5 attempts. The New York Knicks won the rebounding battle, and they shot well from the free throw line compared to the Lakers.
Well, a close one, but a very entertaining match.

I lost my bet to them, but still I'm ok with it. Looks like Davis is having a hard time scoring as he only scored 17 points with this one. I don't know if he either he doesn't want to shoot the ball that much so that his teammates can contribute on offense, or he's having a problem that we don't know (probably injury). He isn't 100% I guess that's why he's playing like that.

On the other hand, the duo of Randle and Barrett lead the Knicks scoring a total of 63 points to lead their team to victory after losing 3 straight. I thought that I will see the Lakers on .500 because it has been a long time since they got above .500, but it seems like it isn't happening at least this time. They'll play on the road for the next 2 games, and maybe they can win on both games to get to .500.

Surely Davis wasn't on his usual performance earlier when they faced the Knicks, I don't know what's wrong with him because they are suppose to take advantage of the hand they have even if Lebron is not with them as the Knicks was also incomplete because Brunson wasn't there as well. Besides, they've got some fresher feet compared to the Knicks who had a 2-day road game at LA for facing the Clippers yesterday but again, that wasn't the case in the game earlier.
1589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 13, 2023, 03:49:28 AM
Can't wait to watch tonight's golden state and bucks game, should be a good one on prime time tv, they should all be up for this one.
It was a great game that ended in overtime as both teams are really answering back and forth on the both ends of the floor.
Brook Lopez with a dazzling display of his defense acquired 5 blocks. But Kevon Looney won't just stay silent claiming 5 steals. Big guys doing their work and without a doubt, they play important key roles on their respective teams.
Steph Curry shined once again. Started the game with mostly perimeters and attacking the paint but ended with crucial 3-point shots and proving the reasons why he is still the dangerous player behind the arc.
GSW won.

In the end it was all Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, they are down in the 4th and thought that the Bucks are going to steal on at their homecourt. But Curry doesn't want to lose, hit back to back 3's and then the tie.

And in the OT, both of them hitting crucial shots. But for me it's their overall defense, Donte was really a good acquisition for them. But they really need Wiggins to play. Iggy try to step up, but I guess his age is the limiting factor.

Nice win by the Warriors! They finally broke their losing streak, but it was a hard-fought game for them. Even without their best player, the Bucks were not an easy team for the Warriors to beat. The Warriors need to improve if they want to become back-to-back champions.

Once again, Poole's production has dropped significantly. I don't know if this will help them much. I understand that Curry and Thompson are the usual scorers of this team, but seeing Poole's low production sometimes disappoints me.

Yeah, it's really not good to see Poole's performance drop a bit, but it's understandable as he is the 3rd man and so he received not much passes in game after Curry returns. But at least they have found a way to win against the Bucks and their home court, and that's what we say with the Warriors is that when they are at home, very hard to beat them.

Donte step up and contributed with his 3's. But Curry and Klay was the one who keep this alive against the Bucks in OT and it was over when both of them played that well in the extra 5 minutes.

Yes, that is somehow understandable because the Splash Brothers are now complete again and Jordan Poole is back being the 2nd option for the team but I think that is okay since he can still be an efficient role player to the main line-up but it is expected that he cannot get the same points because he is not getting the same time and moments.

Just glad to see the Warriors break their lose streak since Curry returned and it was a hard fought game just to get that W because Bucks are still a heavy team even if there's no Giannis with them.

The OP just happened to be in a good time but wrong place.

I mean that is already expected that nobody would know about the existence of what you're saying or get interested about it especially if you're doing that in a rural place. OP has also said it to himself and already knew that most of his customers are illiterate and old, so that's totally understandable that no one would by the OP's bags of cocoa in the form of cryptocurrency even if it is on a discounted price, surely that discount is not as big as 40 to 50 percent because you can tell why they are not interested at it.

I know your motive OP and I totally understand it, you just want to tell them that there is bitcoin and it's a gift given to us by Satoshi Nakamoto but you should also understand why they wouldn't want to convert their fiats into crypto just to buy your bags of cocoa. First it is a hassle to them because they are illiterate, 2nd is they have no reasons at all to have their funds converted in a form of crypto because their funds is just enough for them to survive on a daily basis.

That is why I said that you are in a wrong place, try to sell your bags of cocoa in an urban area with that same discount, I bet you will have such customers who are willing to buy it in a form of crypto.
1591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I managed to convince my senior dad to invest in BTC on: March 13, 2023, 02:20:58 AM
If an elderly person is not at all educated, explaining Bitcoin to them can be challenging. But it appears that you were ultimately convinced. The existence of cryptocurrencies in the virtual world is something my father is aware of, without having much knowledge of it. He cannot use Bitcoin, despite his best intentions, because he is not literate. Nonetheless, he consistently motivates me to use cryptocurrency and ahead with technology, shouldn't stay backdated. Being inspired by my parents has therefore been really helpful to me.

I happen to have the same scenario because your father and mine has the same situation, even if he wanted to, he just can't because cryptocurrencies are so gibberish in his eyes but despite that fact, he is indeed aware about the crypto space and some coins that are existing right now. He even know about Axie Infinity when it exploded. It's just that my father likes to be update about what is happening in the world these days, that is why even if he can't fully understand what is it, he know about it and why it did happen.

1592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports arbitrage on: March 12, 2023, 02:30:33 PM
Sports arbitrage is basically when you make profit from matches regardless of the outcome of those matches just by taking advantage of odd difference between book makers. Odd difference on the other hand occur as a result of error in setting the odds by the bookmakers.
I need to try this out. From the small search I have done, sports arbitrage is more work than regular sports betting because making a profit here requires the punter to do twice as much decision analysis, research and then someone who is smart enough to make quick decisions because it. You either win big or lose big.
To make your job effective, it requires a tool. If you have none, then don't try to get serious with arbitrage betting. Although many believe that sports arbitrage is the best way to make money in sports betting, there are actually only a few who have succeeded in this, leaving the rest to be just normal bettors who rely on self-analysis and take risks on their bets.

The job is quite interesting because there's zero risk, but it's important to ask yourself if you're capable of doing it.

Congrats to all who manage to put some bets for the winning team!

Was there a betting odds for this particular game? I haven't checked the sportsbook lately, but the last time I checked, there were no odds available. I assumed that they are not offering any odds since it's just an exhibition game. Can anyone here confirm if they were able to place a bet?
1594  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The best time to buy bitcoin. on: March 12, 2023, 01:35:30 PM
If there is a good opportunity to buy bitcoin, well if you look at its value now you can say that we should take advantage to buy now before everyone is caught and we will regret it in the end then just hold.

And If I had enough money to buy bitcoin, I would really buy a lot of it, so of course you should only buy the amount you can afford, don't use the budget for your family, you will use it just to buy bitcoin of course not like that.

I guess Bitcoin has already hit its floor, which means we might see a stable price from here onwards. Honestly, I believe that $20k is still a fair price to buy. It's a very cheap price compared to its all-time high. Based on the price trends, when a bull market comes, a new all-time high (ATH) is created. So, if the price is currently at $20k, it might likely increase to at least 5 times that amount, which means a good profit opportunity.
1595  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do we manage our crypto trading strategy on: March 12, 2023, 01:00:49 PM
Hi guys
Nowadays there are so many crypto trading strategies in practice but the true challenge here is how to continue trading with out being obsolete as we know efficiency brings profit
Your strategy will not become obsolete if you continue to develop it. The main goal in trading is to be profitable, so when you are no longer making money or are losing money, that only means one thing: change your strategy in order to be profitable. It's as simple as that.

~snip~
Most gamblers do not mean all gamblers and not many gamblers can win big money. But indeed some people are very lucky in playing gambling and can get big wins like @OP, which rarely happens to many people. Let's hope we get as lucky as @OP, who earns a lot of money.

But we also must realize that gambling like that has risks and will increase according to the capital we use. And when we place many bets, we are ready for the results later.

If you think about it in mathematical terms, at the end of the day it's a losing game. Imaging having a coin toss with say 40% chances of you winning and 60% of you losing.

Would you play that?

That's what the casinos do in the end, they try to complicate things but show them as apparently easy to win.

High risk and high reward is normal in gambling. In this case, it was a parlay bet, and the edge is not really on the bettors. However, @OP was strong enough to risk a decent amount of money for a huge return, and they deserve their win. At least with sports betting, the house edge should be lower than other types of gambling, which is why the sports betting industry is the biggest in the gambling industry.

It's quite normal in the crypto space, but the good thing now is that the price has already pumped and remained at the $20k level. I believe that from here we will see a stable increase that could possibly result in a bull run. The only advice I can give is to buy when there's FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) as it always gives us an opportunity, assuming that you believe Bitcoin will survive despite experiencing a significant dump.

He is on the list, number 33 in rankings with:

33   Conor McGregor   $615M   $530M

https://www.sportico.com/feature/highest-paid-athletes-all-time-1234711562/

So that is huge money for him throughout his career in UFC

For Canelo, no doubt, he did sign a massive contract when he severe his ties with Golden Boy and move to DAZN and it's like $300m if I'm not mistaken, and will have like 5 more fights in his career. And Floyd keeps making money with this exhibition matches in the last 3 years or so.

Those digits are not from UFC alone because he did have a nice big payday when he agreed to fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a boxing fight, which I bet was his biggest payday in his entire career up to this point.
Although that certain fight was ruled as professional fight, McGregor cannot really defeat someone like Mayweather because UFC is very much different in boxing and the same thing will happen to Mayweather if he will face McGregor in the octagon.
About Mayweather Jr. though, the man will always be in the list and will always be included in the Top 10 as long as he will still have his exhibition fights.
