1061  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I Use Emergency funds or Sell my Assets ? on: July 02, 2023, 07:53:35 PM
I agree, selling property needs to be considered carefully, we should find all other ways before thinking about selling our property because selling is easy, but buying back is not easy. Especially assets that increase in value over time, like gold, real estate, or bitcoin. But in OP's case, he has emergency funds, why not use them instead of thinking about selling the property? Let's make a comparison, and it can be easily seen that creating an emergency fund will be much easier than buying property. OP, you should carefully consider everything before making a final decision.
Diverting funds from selling investment properties to other investments is very ineffective because we cannot afford to buy the same property due to property prices increasing every year, OP needs to consider that each type of property generates promising profits for the long term, but if we still have alternative options to use allocation from an emergency fund so we can use it to add to other investments instead of keeping emergency funds in fiat, my suggestion is that emergency funds are better diverted to gold or bitcoin investments which are easy to exchange with fiat whenever we need those funds for urgent needs.

This is very true, it won't do good for you to sell your investment properties just to transition to other investment. In my case, I have some properties that are rented for me to have a passive income. The price of the house already doubled but still I stick to passive income for me to have extra money for other investment. I have two properties which I live in the other one and the one is for rented. But it's a good idea to use your emergency funds in investment where you can easily convert it back to fiat money such as you've mentioned. Once you've profited enough the best thing to do is to use those spare money for other investment as well for you to have a lot of options in case of emergency.

That is really good if your property has a house on it, but if it is just sitting around with no building at all, then you are waiting for someone to rent it. There are no problems with that, but if you don't have plans for that area, for example, if it is very far from the road or if it is very remote, and you really plan to sell it soonest, then that is only possible if it is just your spare land, but if that is only your land, then that is a really bad idea.

Depends on the situation really mainly if you got some spare cash or should I say emergency funds, considering that the place you've owned is situated in a very remote area and much away from the road then I think it will be beneficial for you to sell it rather than doing nothing about it given that you're inclined to have some money on your hands.

There's nothing to do about it as the described land will just give you additional bills without earning something from that land plus, selling that will be a good thing as that same land will probably take you a decade before the value will grow up.
1062  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Casinos Go Bankrupt Because of Player Wins? on: July 02, 2023, 07:31:53 PM
It is close to impossible because they have already budgeted for it; for example, in slot machines, they already have those funds and still can run the casino. We know that casinos are businesses, which is why they earn a profit every day, which is bigger than those who win big. The only reason a casino can go bankrupt is if someone wins big and their money is only enough to operate their casino, but that is bad management, so it is still impossible.

Yep and it rarely happens. But I think I read a thread before in this forum that someone won a jackpot prize but the casino didn't release the money and I think they come to the point that they need to talk about it in the court because of that thing. Casino earns a lot each day and it is nearly impossible to get bankrupt maybe they can hold your winning prize because of whatever reason they have but they will not go bankrupt for sure, I never heard a casino goes bankrupt because someone's win.

Yes, I managed to read something about that thread in this forum as well and I think it was a story of a man where the casino refused to give the winner the exact amount of what he had won as the casino told him that there was a glitch or some problems with the machine when in-fact it wasn't the man's fault and the casino has a responsibility to pay what they owe him. Hopefully by now that case is already close and that the court favored the man and got home with the winnings.
1063  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 02, 2023, 05:44:46 PM
Also, one more piece of news came out and I thought they are just discussing the matter about the roster.
Damian Lillard requests trade after 11 seasons with Blazers
Damian Lillard is calling his shot. Portland's all-time leading scorer is ready to leave the only team he's ever played for.

https://www.nba.com/news/blazers-damian-lillard-requests-trade

Honestly, I'm not that surprised about his move for requesting a trade because I already gave it a thought beforehand that sooner or later, Damian Lillard will force a trade as Portland cannot just bring some superstar by his side to provide more results for the team.

I mean, I know he could have requested a trade if he wanted to in the past few years but he chose to stay and gave the Portland some chance.

Damian Lillard trade destinations: Star wants Heat, but plenty of other teams have more to offer
1064  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo - September 30th in Las Vegas on: July 02, 2023, 05:18:04 PM
Wow, this is nuts, i mean of the two Jermall has the higher chance of betting Canelo than Jermell because the latter would jump up two-weight division just to face the unified champion at 168lbs division.

Whoever of the twin brother he will face, surely for me this is cherry-picking at its finest, how come they can't come up with a fight with Benavidez where that would generate more gate revenue than this one?

Will temporarily close the other thread as I think Jermell will be the likely opponent as per the article but no contracts has been signed yet so nothing is set in stone but I would like the discussion to be focused on this thread for now.

Doesn't really make sense at all because Jermell have to jump across two weight class just for this fight and I actually agree with you mate, comparing the two, Jermall is much more suitable as he got more talent and just one weight class away from super-middleweight. Although, he is inactive for 2 years but I reckon that he can at least make a difference compared to his brother who is also inactive for more than 1 year.

With Canelo's recent situation that got his wrist in a surgery, he is no longer sure if he can defend his belts against Benavidez. He can duck and give many reasons but it is already clear for me.
1065  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I am only trying to stay safe by gambling less on: July 01, 2023, 08:48:10 PM
Based on my understanding maybe there'll be 10% of sports betting addicts whereas the 90% will be on luck based games addiction.

This is probably a true observation. It is because sports bettors usually do their research before they make a bet. They are not in a hurry. They are scholars. I mean not all of them like this but most of then are. People that bet on luck based games however, they are into get rich quick stuff. They try various patterns and strategies sometimes but in the end they all want the same thing. I don’t blame them however. Luck based games are only good to turn your 1 money into 2+ or zero. It only takes a second to see the result. You don’t need to do any research or have any information beforehand. You just need pure luck.

Of course you need some information regarding how the game works even if it is just any luck-based games, but regarding about most of the games in that bracket, you definitely need to have more luck than knowledge because that is only factor that keeps you moving in your activity as without it, it will only take you a mere seconds of your life to lose everything.

And for the sports gambling, luck is still a needed factor but in this case, you need to have more knowledge and information so that you can increase your chances of winning in any given game as you will need that to analyze some datum before placing your bet.
1066  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you find it offensive to be referred to as an addicted gambler? on: July 01, 2023, 07:58:13 PM
For me, nope, I admit but at least only in crypto gambling. Also, not to the extent that I will use my own pocket money and do unlikely stuff. I can say, although I am hooked it is still tolerable and I never cross my boundaries and will never put myself into an abyss. Furthermore, whether you are addicted or not, the opinions of others about gambling as a terrible habit will not change.
Not many admit even when they're at the worse of gambling addiction. Agreed on the statement, it is a fixed that gambling is terrible. So, whether you gamble with limits or you're badly addicted, people who see from the outside have a common statement as gambler. When he earns good or losses, everything will be connected to the gambling habit. For this reason more people hide the gambling activity from the people around him.
Yes, that's right, because by hiding our status as gamblers and never being seen by anyone that we are gamblers will help us from the words of other people who say we are addicts, even though it has never offended me but it's good to hide it, even I never share the winnings me on social media or my gambling activity in front of my friends or social media.

It's enough that my wife and I know that I am a gambler and a few other gambler friends, after all it doesn't matter that many people need to know we are gamblers because that won't make us comfortable especially that gambling will always be bad in people's eyes, so I always hide it . fortunately I am not a gambling addict, my habit is to only gamble on weekends, unlike addicts who play all the time.

It's almost have that negative impressions when there are many eyes who knows about your gambling activities, I like that idea where there are some who knows your gambling especially your wife and some of your closes friends and relatives, as long as you are capable of controlling yourself and you don't have any loans from them because of your gambling then you are good to go.

The negative impression of being gambling addicted is not a good thing to hear, and it will annoy you. That's how I interpret it.

In the same sense, their say towards you will not change even if you're not that addicted towards gambling or not even close to become an addict. Let's face that reality already as they will always have a say about you, no matter what you will do.

The important thing is that, like what you've said, we are transparent to our own family and that they know the reality and our status towards gambling. For sure they will understand because you are open to them but if you do that secretly, expect the exact same opposite of it.
1067  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: July 01, 2023, 07:37:01 PM
the thing is that most gamblers always thought that they could possibly outsmart the casino by going on in with high risk and in the end their end up being caught up in the web, self-control is very important but most important also is to set aside an exact amount you want to gamble with and anything above that should be avoided in all totality.

Don't ever spend too much time gambling trying to chase any direction is the fastest way to keep losing.

People on average overestimate their abilities and underestimate their flaws, so when faced with the challenge of outsmarting the casinos and beat them at their own game they naively think they can do it, then once they begin to notice this is not the case their ego takes over and they want to fulfill this goal, then once they realize this is not possible they want to at least recover the money they have lost, and each one of these steps leads them towards a path which is very difficult to escape as at that point many would have developed an addiction already.
If people cannot self-reflect, they will face difficulties they may not have imagined. And when they follow their ego too much instead of seeing that gambling will cost a lot of money, they will be disappointed and even frustrated to see the continuous losses. They will be trapped in their own ego and eventually unable to recover from their defeat. And the deeper they try, the harder it is to get out of gambling so it will only provide endless anger for them. Realizing that they have made a mistake and want to get out of gambling can save them from ruin and even bankruptcy.

And again, I already said this numerous times, it is really important to know our boundaries and limits because without any of this, we will not stop in chasing the money even if the chances are much too slim and that will just lead us to a road that doesn't allow you to turn your back as in the first place, you yourself brought it to yourself. I agree on the importance of self reflect because we are just humans, we know that we are bound to make some mistakes along the way and hence why we need to some time to reflect.
1068  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Top Five Reasons Sports Bettors Are Attracted to eSports on: July 01, 2023, 06:36:39 PM
I guess you can also attribute that it's easier to learn video games and esports compared to traditional sports. It's way easier to be in the game and know the game when you also play the game, hence why more and more people are slowly transitioning towards eSports betting. There are also multiple tournaments being held for different games at a given time in short intervals, too, so it's way easier to look for something to bet on eSports compared to traditional sports.
I don't think that eSports betting is easier than betting on traditional sports knowing that when league matches happen, there are players from all around the world involved in those matches, and for you to know which team plays better, you must have already been watching their games from the past to have some idea, otherwise, you will only waste your money betting on a random team that might not be too good to be the winner.

Generally, both traditional sports and eSports would require you to have some knowledge and experience both about the game and the teams playing because that is the only way you can determine which team will win based on their gaming style and skills, so I don't think it's in any way easier.

I agree, both eSports and traditional sports are the same as well as the factors surrounding it even if the ones who are playing the games are different as we have the fictional one and humans literally playing the sport. Still, it requires knowledge about the game, knowing the players/characters and even their skills and strengths as without this information, your chance in winning the bet is much lesser compared to the ones who truly know how it works.

Reports says Gabe Vincent joining the Lakers,

Quote
Free agent guard Gabe Vincent is expected to join the Los Angeles Lakers on a three-year, $33 million deal, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

https://www.nba.com/news/gabe-vincent-2023-free-agency

So this is a great news for the Lakers and Lebron as he will have a good wingman and a 3 point shooter. Plus Gabe has one of the best seasons so far last year with the Heat.

But as the same time, they let go of Dennis as he moves to Toronto. Because Fred VanVleet signing a three-year, $130 million max contract with the Houston Rockets.

With D'Lo and Vincent together with a healthy LeBron and Davis seems good to me.

Vincent, as we've seen him played last season, he can contribute a lot to the Lakers knowing how LeBron's type game now
he's more on locating the open man. With both D'Lo and Vincent, he can easily drop the ball and get a high percentage
shots outside, or he can locate Davis inside for the easy basket.

Yes, that's a decent line-up considering that the starting five will be healthy all throughout or at least will not have any serious injury that could give the team some troubles along the way.
And by the way, Vanderbilt also signed another contract with the Lakers while Schroder is now with the Raptors, but Austin Reaves my man, they left him hanging after all the help he did especially in the post season where he helped the team survive against the Warriors. Lakers should give him another chance too because the kid is definitely improving.
1070  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: July 01, 2023, 05:43:21 PM
Maybe for marketing? Because if they make this fight to happen their businesses will grow more bigger. Then also maybe they like to be written on history that Billionaires CEO fight in cage, this will blow up the whole world and can catch a overwhelming attention to people globally. This is a win win situation for both if they make this exhibition fight to happen. But same as other I doubt they are serious about it since maybe they are just having fun with the noise they created.
Absolutely not, nobody will use facebook/instagram/whatsapp more than they are using right now just because Mark fought Elon, even if he wins or ends up losing, the usage will not go up. And nobody will buy tesla car just because Elon fights against Mark neither, the ones who wants to buy one, will buy one, and that's it.

Business has nothing to do with this, they are child at heart people who made their money at a young age and they never grew up, they never needed to grow up to be fair and that is why they are fighting like children. Plus, these people are super wealthy, literally as wealthy as it gets and never will need money again and surrounded by people who say yes to them, so when someone challenges them, it becomes an ego war for them in the end.

On the other hand, both of them wanted to make a history and it will be as they will be the first billionaires who will fight in the octagon, publicly. But about the profits that they will generate? Dana White is interested about that part as by his words, it will be a much bigger fight than the Mayweather-McGregor fight but for Mark and Elon? I don't think they are interested about it, they just wanted to test each other out.
1071  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: who would you trust? on: June 29, 2023, 09:55:05 PM
Since strategy are always changing in trading, what is the relevance of experience? Who would you trust the most for trading tips,
An old trader who has had better days and mostly still relevant because they have a strong reputation for the fact that he has been trading for a while, or would you trust a new trader who is hot in the market and fresh with new strategies?
Tips and tricks are just words, it just depends on your capability to actually use those tips and tricks on your play. Sometimes those tips may not work and you need to actually change something a little bit to adapt your playstyle on trading, that is why there are so many tips out there but you can't just pick all of them and use it. It depends on how do you usually trade and some tips may work for them but not for you, that's always the case.
True. You can have all the tips and tricks when trading but you can’t expect for them to be highly effective since trading is not all about other’s tips and advices but trading depends on what you can give and how you apply in trading everything you have learned. It’s more on your own real capabilities and skills and how you will take advantage of the market everytime it’s condition varies from time to time.
1072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kids and Bitcoin on: June 29, 2023, 09:34:30 PM
My question is where can I buy Bitcoin comic books that can catch the attention of children between the age of 7 to 11? I want something in comic or story book style and with full story about Bitcoin or related... I want to buy and wrap them up for the surprises.
I suggest have them watch some YouTube videos

I completely agree with you, today, cartoons or videos is the best educational instrument. It was our generation that read book, current generation prefer gadgets and if we want to teach them something unusual, we must play on their rules.

No matter how interesting book is, a simple offer «lets go read a book» or «lets go I will read you a book» isnt accepted. While reading, kid will be «flying away, dreaming» and thinking what he would do first when he get his mobile or tablet.
True. Kids will always act as kids no matter what. And even if you teach them most often about bitcoin by giving them comic books that talk about bitcoin, they will only get attracted with the pictures but never with the thoughts. So just leave them learning on their own. Maybe your intention is good but the time wasn’t right. Children still prefer to play around with their gadgets with them.
1073  Economy / Economics / Re: Am I a bad person if I manage to avoid taxes? (Hypothetical question) on: June 29, 2023, 09:16:28 PM
In the eyes of the law, if we try to evade taxes then it’s considered a crime that we have to pay after. That’s the reason why we need not to avoid from paying taxes, otherwise we will be put into jail in no time. However, you are not alone OP. I am also feeling that everything is unfair for us that what we worked hard is not well compensated due to high tack deduction. But what can we do? We are living in a country where tax is a must to sustain the growing economy of our country, and so we just have to abide with the law and pay taxes without complaining.
1074  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I Recover my loss of crypto on this platform? on: June 29, 2023, 08:50:30 PM
Hay, I am New here and know about Bitcoin for the last few years but I lost many times in crypto trading. So my question is that how to trade Securely and profitably? And what are the rules and regulations for me that must follow this platform recommended some close ones will say you will learn from this platform so much and I hope to recover from the loss and get a lot of benefits and knowledge gain that is why I am very excited to hear.
Yes, you will definitely learn from this forum if you are highly determined to make it happen. That is by gaining maximum knowledge from the different post you are reading and even developing your own strategies in trading from the experiences shared by reputable traders. And it will not stop there, as you need to experience trading more in the market so that regardless if you still lose, at least you will learn from all your mistakes and not resort on doing the same mistakes again. That way, you’ll be honed to be a good trader and after few years of experience, you will start recovering what you have lose in trading before.
1075  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Luck is what you need in gambling but you have to get to work with trading on: June 29, 2023, 08:03:02 PM
Both requires luck as the goal is to create multiple profits but trading demands more of a working process and a long time preparation before you finally decide to trade and risk your money. That’s why since trading needs more analytical and fundamental skills to trade, the probability to be in consistent profits is high unlike in gambling that you can just risk your money until everything is used up especially if you are gambling without control and discipline. However, if you trade like totally gambling, like you don’t need knowledge and skills to succeed, then you’ll end up like almost all gamblers experienced.
1076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think it's still wrong selling properties for Bitcoin? on: June 28, 2023, 09:50:08 PM
I never encourage beginners to sell their assets so they can enter bitcoin investment. That is a very wrong mindset in the first place. You’re not even sure if you will be successful on your bitcoin investment so why would take a bigger risk if there is no guaranteed profits in the end. So just allocate a small amount at first so that if you lose, that will never be an issue to you. And as much as possible, do some intensive research first before you finally decide to invest in bitcoin because the fact that it’s highly volatile, you will never make profits if you are also too impatient to seek for immediate profits.
1077  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I Use Emergency funds or Sell my Assets ? on: June 28, 2023, 09:35:31 PM
I don't want to give financial advice, so I'll just share my reasoning for what I would do in that situation. To me, emergency funds exist for an emergency, and struggling to stay within my monthly budget because of the inflation is not an emergency. So I would sell a small amount of the assets as a temporary measure, but the goal is still to ensure that the earnings cover the monthly expenses, so neither emergency funds not selling some assets would count to me as a good solution. If there isn't enough in earnings, I'd consider looking for another job or just doing something in addition to what I already do. I would also consider if there are areas where it's easy to cut spending and do that.
If you can find additional job that will pay you more income, then do it first. Do not just touch your emergency funds nor selling some of your assets as they might be more needed in the future. For now, study more some of your hidden talents and skills as they can be of great help so you can gain additional income for you. And try to live simply away from luxuries and expensive lifestyle, that will help you a lot to save if you have extra money.
1078  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Bitcoin trading for the lily-livered? on: June 28, 2023, 09:14:25 PM
I've been around the forum for months now and lately i have been developing serious thoughts about venturing into crypto trading
particularly bitcoin, I've gotten some little knowledge about forex trading, because there are lots of trading indicators in forex that helps you in predicting the market flow.

However according to some bitcoin trading expert's on YouTube, they will tell you they've gotten their fingers burnt a lot of times.

So i ask, is bitcoin trading advisable for the lily-livered?

Bitcoin trading requires a lot of knowledge and its right application after acquisition. So if you think you are not that determined enough and is afraid to take risk, then trading might not be good enough for you. Because when you are in actual trading, you need to be brave and be confident on what you have because that will be your best weapon on making your trades successful. Otherwise, if you trade without enough courage and not persistent on what you believe, you will never get far with trading.
1079  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Beginners Should Follow These To Be A Good Price Predictor on: June 28, 2023, 08:46:28 PM
4. Experience your knowledge with Demo Trading: Its a good choice for beginners to trade with the demo funds before investing real funds. It will help to find out the faults of your analysis without losing real assets. It will also increase the experience of a trader. Some sites are offering Demo trading like Etoro , Bybit etc.
The demo features don't help much, but might be good for anyone too worried about running out of budget. After all, live trading will give them experience and courage, but of course beginners shouldn't rush with big budgets. While the demo can help you figure things out, your worries will likely be the same when it comes to live trading.

My one piece of advice, beginners just need to start trading with a small budget while developing their trading skills. Also don't expect to get rich overnight and stay away from more altcoins.
Demo trading will allow newbies to be familiar with how the trading market works but if your target is to increase your knowledge and develop some skills and strategies, then trading using live account is the only way that will make it happen. Just don’t be hunger with big profits as it’s still impossible for beginners. Start with small budget at first and when you’re already making consistent profits, then that’s the time to increase your trading size but expect higher risk too.
1080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My bitcoin journey mistakes and moral lesson on: June 28, 2023, 08:29:05 PM
There’s a single thing I’ll probably never understand: why people pretend they know everything without ever researching the subject. I’ve got friends who years ago I was trying to convince to invest at least a small portion of their savings in BTC and they were aggressively contradicting my facts with their imagined thoughts and beliefs. I get that mainstream media gets you to believe a thing although it’s not always true, but it’s very annoying. Don’t tell me something’s a scam if you don’t even know what I’m talking about.

Follow your instinct and don’t let yourself be emotionally disrupted by the thoughts of those around you. I found they often pulled me back from my plans and now I have many plans I regret not following because I know they would’ve been successful. But that doesn’t matter - if they were wrong 10 times they’ll continue to be wrong an 11th time too..
People will always have a lot to say just to pull you back, it’s up to you if you still stick to your decision or just believe that they might be right and you’re wrong. However, remind yourself that you will never grow and be successful if you keep relying from other people’s point of view. Just accept the fact that sometimes our decision may be a contradiction from their own decision so we need not to hang in there but prove to them that what we are doing is reasonable. That way, there’s no regretting in the end because we never missed any opportunity again just like before because we now have faith in our investment.
