I don't see how OP could provide any proof: if he's lying (historically, the most likely scenario), he'll just repeat that the accusations are baseless. If he's telling the truth, there's not much he can do to prove it, either.

The only ones able to provide clarity are FJ, and if they choose to, they'll probably post information on IP address, browser timestamps etc which will convince anyone with half a brain that the accusations here are baseless. If they don't, however, I don't see how this thread can become anything else than a waste of time.

Which is a - pun intended - very laudable thing to do. For the noobs getting educated, this is a huge plus, considering large corporations like Volkswagen, Bosch, Microsoft etc. didn't get that opportunity.
While most of those announcements of cooperations with companies are surely exaggerated (many of such cooperations merely consist of a company having a "blockchain research unit" which checked out the IOTA repo to take a look at it… bit offtopic, but that Tweet about sums it up: https://twitter.com/CryptoCronkite/status/1227320690321297409), I can see how they scratched their heads when they saw in what terrible way CfB etc. interacted with researchers who took their valuable time for pointing out weaknesses a.k.a. helping to make the product better.

For me, this project was over when CfB told the researchers that they implemented the "colission feature"  in curl to protect IOTA from copycats, what the actual fuck.

Depends on what point of view you have (some would even say that Bitcoin is not a decentralized, Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System ^^): those who were following the project closely knew about the coordinator, and that it was a centralized element which was intended to kickstart the network and to be removed, later. The "later" got delayed again and again, making the description of IOTA a concept rather than an actual product, thus vaporware.

For somebody who only read the catchy phrases and didn't bother taking a very close look at what he throws his money at, it might well be described as a scam. To be fair, the IOTA team did not put much effort into explaining IOTA's weaknesses.

I see correlation rather than causation. There just is no real connection between how / if a product works and its market share.

Fact is, though, that IOTA has always overpromised and underdelivered. It was (like most cryptocurrencies) hyped like there's no tomorrow. At the end of the day, people who lost money on it lost it because of their greed, not because IOTA is a "scam", or, as I prefer, vaporware.

Kurze Info: seid vorsichtig mit initialcoin dot exchange… dazu wird eine Telegram-Gruppe sowie die Website zur Zeit sehr aggressiv beworben. Der Exchange wurde von User PhpKing1987 scheinbar programmiert, User hat seine Mailadresse neulich geändert und Benutzer, die dort Deposits machen und / oder OTC-Trades machen, kriegen nichts zurück, nachdem sie senden und können ihre Funds auch nicht von der "Börse" abziehen.

Aufgefallen ist die Seite, weil sie für DUN (Tezos-Fork) ein wirklich ungewöhnlich dickes Orderbook hatte. So viel liegt nicht einmal auf der Börse, die das meiste registrierte Volumen hat. Kurz darauf hat sich das erste Scam-Opfer gemeldet.

That 3BMEX address likely isn't his, or at least not one he controls the private keys to. Gambling platform bitmex.com has made it a habit of assigning their users vanity gen addresses starting with 1/3BMEX. Of course, he could also create a 3BMEX address for himself, but why would he.

So, it probably makes sense to also check the addresses which funded the 3BMEX address to get to his private wallet.

Exactly, this. Always double verify. If someone asks you for help / money in Telegram, you can almost always be certain it's a scam attempt.

There's mainly two kinds of scammers:
- those who buy lists with Telegram handles on the internet / russian message boards: they contact you, propose random bullshit and you can recognize them because they share no common groups with you (just click the profile)
- those who lurk in chatrooms, waiting for someone to ask for help OR they proactively contact you, "offering" you to get scammed.

Always be careful!

Kurzer Hinweis – hoffe, er war so noch nicht da; im OP stand so dazu jedenfalls noch nichts: es sind nicht nur die Verbrecher, die die Daten verkaufen können, sondern die KYC-Unternehmen tun (Update: AGB weisen nicht auf Derartiges hin, siehe Ende des Posts) es offensichtlich auch selbst.

D.h. der ganze KYC-Bullshit ist von vorne bis hinten nur ein Vorwand, um Daten von entweder ahnungslosen Trotteln oder von Leuten, die unter Zwang stehen zu sammeln und zu verkaufen.

Ich finde, dass die Crypto-Unternehmen, die 3rd party KYC implementieren, hier auch in der Verantwortung stehen und zumindest solche Unternehmen, die mit den Daten grob fahrlässig (laut AGB) umgehen, kategorisch ausschließen sollten. In diesem Beispiel wird veriff dot me von Bitcasino genutzt.

Instead of just repeating the stuff Craig convinced you guys to... how about adressing the actual questions? All I always hear is "Craig has no time", "You don't believe because he's uncomfortable and doesn't fit your imagination", "A signed message isn't proof" etc... it gets boring.

I really think you didn't understand his post correctly: he did not accuse anyone, he said the fake airdrop misuses names of known users to advertise their scam. Simple as that.

As I understand his post in your archived link: they (the scammers) are involving him (hodor, passive, without his consent).

I'm not defending ICOs here, I'm putting the blame on "investors". I'd argue most actually aren't trying to achieve their "goals" and were actual scams. They sensed a money grab and people took the bait.

Just imagine this happened in reallife: some stranger approaches you on the street, tells you something about how his copypaste smart contract shittoken will change the world, you – totally excited – ask him for details on him, he shows you some badly AI generated team member "photos", you shout "shut up and take my money" and he disappears.

Personally, I'd be too ashamed to even tell the public about how I incurred that loss, because falling prey to this is stupid on so many levels. I'd book it under "lesson learned" (as I did with my iirc only ICO experience: backto.earth which cost me a lousy 0.2 BTC, which I wrote off right when I sent it) and just forget about it.


To provide some ontopic: such a website could be quite cool if it focused on the actual, interesting scams (which we had plenty of, here) instead of listing bad investments (for whatever reason), "substantiating" the accusation just with opinions (as you already mentioned). It doesn't matter if people incurred a 95% loss because the "developers" took the money and ran or because it was just a shitty investment in the first place.

Oh, and yeah: ignore Game-Protect. For the reasons Twitchy mentioned.

As I see it, that page lists almost only ICOs. To be honest, I don't know why people complain: when you "invest" (lol) in an ICO, you give away your money for nothing in return. You give developers (or "developers", depends) money to code (or not to code / to drive lambos, hooker, blow etc.) something. They – ideally – collect the money to program something which later turns out to be a good product.

The money was already gone when you "invested". There is no tie between them doing good work and the token going up. Other than that, it was not only the ETH shittokens which tanked in the past two years. The whole market went down and incurred similar losses wherever you look.

So, instead of shouting "scam", people should realize that greed blurred their judgement abilities and just move on. The money won't come back anyway.

Ich habe im Play Store, wenn ich mich mal (nach Wallets usw) umgeschaut habe, immer nur Sachen gefunden, die oft so schäbig aussahen, dass die Vermutung nahe lag, dass es irgendeine Art Scam war. Grundsätzlich würde ich empfehlen, bei solchen Sachen nie das gleiche Telefon zu benutzen, auf dem Du auch Wallets verwaltest. Das Risiko (selbst bei Anwendungen, die nachweislich "sauber sind), dass der Entwickler in einem späteren Update Code nachschiebt, der Deine Wallets leert / Einzahlungsadressen durch seine eigenen ersetzt usw, wäre mir  hier viel zu hoch, ehrlich gesagt.

Dass die eine Rechnung wollen, ist imho völlig okay. Die sind eine GmbH und müssen ihre Ausgaben mindestens vorm Finanzamt rechtfertigen. Wenn man Geschäfte mit einer "richtigen Firma" macht, kann man an sich immer davon ausgehen, dass man eine Rechnung (zur Not bei Kleinbeträgen eben mit Kleinunternehmerklausel… da gibt's nen bestimmten jährlichen Betrag, den man so abrechnen kann als Privatperson) stellen muss. Das ist einfach so. Sonst können die nicht erklären, wo die 200€ (oder wie viel auch immer) hingegangen sind.

Dann aber die Texte einfach zu verwenden ohne dass die Bezahlung geklärt ist, das ist unterste Schublade. Geht gar nicht.

Es sind nicht die Links, die das Problem sind, sondern die Leute. Und einem Ausarten entgegenzuwirken ist klares Ziel der definierten Regeln. Man muss nicht alles immer stur durchziehen "just because", sondern kann ruhig auch mal was ausprobieren. Zumal Reflinks ein fester Bestandteil von Cryptoland sind, ob einem das nun gefällt oder nicht.

Und wenn mir jemand – sinnvoll – einen guten Service empfiehlt, so wie ich das in bestimmten Fällen auch tue, dann sehe ich nicht, warum derjenige nicht auch einen kleinen Bonus dafür erhalten soll.

Nicht falsch verstehen: Reflink-Spam kotzt mich maßlos an. Aber genauso kotzen mich Leute an, die um Hilfe betteln, weil sie nicht wissen, wie sie ihre Steuererklärung mit all ihren Trades hinkriegen sollen, ich empfehle ihnen einen guten Service dafür, der mir abartig viel Arbeit abgenommen hat und er hat nichts besseres zu tun als erstmal den Refcode zu entfernen, weil er ein ungönnerhaftes Miststück ist, das zwar einerseits gern bereit ist, sich von mir Informationen zur Lösung seiner Probleme kredenzen zu lassen, andererseits aber mir den kleinen Bonus (sofern er denn überhaupt was kauft) nicht lassen will.

Lange Geschichte in kurz: ich habe zwar auch meine Zweifel, dass es funktioniert, bin aber der Idee an sich durchaus offen gegenüber. Auch, wenn ich nichtmal glaube, dass ich davon Gebrauch machen werde.

Gibt halt immer zwei Seiten der Medaille, und nur weil eine zweite Seite existiert, die vielleicht etwas dreckig ist, ist nicht gleich die ganze Medaille schlecht. Denke mit den Regeln kann man es versuchen und mole wird schon das Richtige tun, wenn es ausartet.

geht es um eine Eigenentwicklung? Kannst Du ein bisschen auf die Anforderungen eingehen? "Bitcoin-Shop-CMS", darunter kann man sich grob etwas vorstellen. Aber ein paar Details zu den Funktionen, die benötigt werden, auf welche Art die Zahlungen abgewickelt werden (Bitcoin-Wallet? BtcPayServer? Mycelium Gear?) wären sehr hilfreich, damit man sich schonmal grob einen Überblick verschaffen kann.

Auch wäre gut zu wissen, was Du dir unter "CMS" vorstellst. Man könnte z.B. ein TYPO3 aufsetzen und dafür eine Erweiterung programmieren, die sämtliche Features, die Du brauchst, mitbringt (sowohl zur Verwaltung im Backend als auch Ausgabe im Frontend). Oder soll da etwas in eine bereits bestehende Lösung integriert werden?

Ich hätte ca. in einer oder zwei Wochen eventuell wieder Zeit. Vielleicht können wir ja mal quatschen und Du erzählst, was Du dir vorstellst.
