Is this a problem in the long-term?

Yeah Russia is out, Algeria and Belgium advance.

In the game Algeria kicked the ball down the field and it went out of play and a player from the Algerian bench kicked it away so the Russian player couldn't immediately throw it back in. He got a yellow for it.

Pathetic performance from Russia. It's not just Capello that's to blame, the players wasted SO MANY chances in all 3 games. Chances where any other team would already score 5 goals, but Russian players always fail. Always kicking the ball too high, or too far to the left or the right, or directly at the goalkeeper, or just making dumb passes when you should be shooting on goal. We had arguably the easiest group too - Korea and Algeria were never strong football teams, and Belgium is only decent but nowhere near the top tier Euro teams. Absolutely pathetic to not even win a single match.

Congrats to Algeria, first time they got out of group stage.

LOL that's the first time I saw a player who isn't even in the game get a yellow card. What a douchebag though, kicking the ball away to waste time.

Russia playing really boring style. I know why English fans hate Capello now.

This match is actually very entertaining because both teams are so offense-oriented. Portugal constantly pressing, and Ghana scaring them back with rapid counter-attacks. I don't like watching USA cause they're so defensive.

I can't believe Portugal put Pepe on the field. That guy should be kicked from the national team already.

Interesting day tomorrow. We've got:

USA - Germany. After seeing both of these teams play, there is certainly room for an upset here. Germany is favored, but USA performed well against Ghana, and Ghana tied with Germany.

Portugal - Ghana. Another very interesting match. Portugal has been looking weak, but they performed about the same against the Americans as Ghana. This match is rather even, with potential for a LOT of goals because both of these teams are offense-oriented.

Algeria - Russia. If Russia wins, they will go through to next round. Their performance so far is really poor though so Algeria could easily upset them like they did the Koreans.

Korea - Belgium. I think this is the only easy to decide match. Belgium should get a solid win here, 1-0 or 2-0.

Unfortunately Ronaldo always seems to choke at national team competitions. But I still like him because you can tell he tries his best in the Portugal team.

Some interesting stats from commentator: the Americans bought the most tickets for this Cup after Brazilians, while Argentina fans are in 3rd place by number of tickets bought.

Nigeria goalkeeper patting Messi's back and joking about something as they walk back on the field. Probably told him how good his freekick was  Love the sportsmanship.

2:1 WOW Messi is a freaking beast. His first free kick was beautiful and the goalkeeper made a great save. His second freekick was even better. Seriously, this guy looks like he is playing the same quality at world cup as during his normal club matches. No nerves at all. Absolutely amazing skill.

Goal by Messi 2 minutes into the match. That was quick. AND a rapid response by Nigeria! This is getting interesting really fast.

2 matches at the same time, which one will you guys watch? I'm leaning towards Nigeria Argentina because I want to see Messi's skill. I feel like Bosnia / Iran is going to be rather boring with Iran's ultra-defensive style.
