1601  Economy / Services / Re: [Coins Source] *Signature Promotion* Promote Something Positive: [CAMPAIGN OPEN] on: July 26, 2014, 05:51:36 PM
I see my sourcecoin just arrived... thanks -- I'm loaded with them now. Hope there are plans for the coin, more exchanges, way to use the coin for something, etc.

I'll stay in the campaign for now, but do we need to repost post count and all of that stuff, or can you simply reuse the one I already posted for my payout?

And as stated, the decrease in coins is rather drastic there. I understand why you have to do that, although I don't quite get why you destroyed so many to begin with, as you won't have as many coins to give out for things like this in the future.

Thanks again.
1602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [APEX] APEX Coin | X13 | PoW/PoS Hybrid on: July 26, 2014, 05:29:18 PM
We are not working on a new coin, we are working on a new wallet.

I think you stated it'd be ready by sometime next week, correct? Something quick is a good idea, over something that would take weeks or months.

I still suggest the TOR giveaway, not necessarily before the wallet, but at sometime in the future. If you simply said you were planning it after the wallet, I think it would help keep prices stable. Besides, since you went to all of the work to get TOR working, might as well do something with it.
1603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FACT] End of month dumping.. on: July 26, 2014, 05:20:39 PM
Declining prices at the end of the month... interesting and probably true. I remember people saying others were selling off to pay VPS costs, as bills are due at the end of the month. I find it odd that people would sell off to pay rent, meaning their housing status was based on the whim of the crypto markets (way too risky), but I guess some folks do that too. I expect those that do may find themselves living in a cardboard box at some point though.

I'm sure someone out there has done it, but a database analyzing overall prices and time of year could be interesting to look at. Past performance doesn't necessarily equate to future performance, but it is a trend that does seem to have a logical basis behind it.

Not that it necessarily does me any good, unless a specific alt I want is being dumped at the end of the month, but it's something to look for.
1604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 26, 2014, 04:10:46 PM
I don't mean to offend anyone, but there has been just so much wrong with this coin from the start. From price manipulation, devs running away (twice), broken promises, broken wallets,  to hype for no good reason. It could have been salvaged earlier, and I guess the new devs are doing the best they can with what they have. But GrounBeefTaxi is sort of an example of what is wrong with crypto in so many ways, and when a person's main attribute they can add to a coin is:
Quote
BUT I am good at being loud as fuck and promoting whatever I wish to succeed.
they are probably doing more harm than good to a coin.

I wish the new devs the best of luck, but I don't think going on a crazy hype campaign is the way to go.

And for those asking for the devs to announce some plan, I believe the devs did announce an upcoming feature, the improved wallet, unless I am remembering wrong.

All I hear is , Scam!!! SCAM COIN!!! Con Artists!!!

Does it really matter what people say here? I mean, probably half the time people are flat out lying. I'd say it's more than half.

Some people do have valid points, but if you like the coin, just buy it. It's actually in your best interest for people go around screaming scam, as the less people who invest, the better off you are.

it's not a coin

Yeah, I know. But you know what I mean.

I am actually liking the idea of the dev making another coin for tor for those who want it and whoever wants to jump over can swap their coin.  I was hoping for tor too but now that I've learned how slow tor actually was and the gov all up in it due to laundering money and whatever else, I'm glad tor didn't happen.  Also being not anon would probably make merchants to accept APEX better too.  Considering the dev is still here talking, there's a comeback waiting to happen.  The coin code hasn't had any errors that many coins experience so we know the dev knows a little something about coding and this ain't your china scam coin.  I'm still into this coin and holding.

What I was proposing wasn't even a swap. Consider it a giveaway. Basically use the APEX distribution as a way to distribute the TOR coin, sort of similar to how CLAMS is distributed. It could be 1:1, or differ proportionally based on max coins. It sounds like the dev considered it, but isn't going that route for now.

It could be something to consider down the road, not just for TOR, but any feature that would require forking. Noblecoin had a nice idea, which I'm not sure they still plan to do, of making partner coins. Basically the main coin is used to distribute other coins, based on holdings. That way, you certainly increase the value of the main coin, as it'd increase the odds of people wanting to hold it longterm ... as it'd make them free partner coins. And certain things, like TOR, would require forking or other nasty stuff that you really don't want to do on the main coin. Partner coins, for lack of a better term, could be something for devs to consider, as it is sort of unique in a way... a differentiating factor.

Assuming the dev stays active and still adds new things, I think the coin will recover. It is strange to think that before TOR was even decided as an upcoming feature, the value was still holding over 1000 ... and was considered pretty cheap even. So TOR or not, there should still be value there. Again, assuming the dev remains active, which is probably the real reason for the dump... people are extra skittish nowadays.
1609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [APEX] APEX Coin | X13 | PoW/PoS Hybrid on: July 26, 2014, 12:06:19 AM
I am going to offer a suggestion, which is a little 'outside the box'. Since you tested TOR, and say it is working outside of the little problem of not working with the APEX blockchain, why not release it anyway?

Meaning, make a completely new coin. Don't do a swap, don't turn APEX into a TOR coin... just make a separate coin, and distribute it based on APEX holdings. You'd probably need to find another dev to run it, or at least help, but it does at least alleviate a couple of issues.

First off, developer trust. We can see you can actually offer something, aren't scamming anyone, and simply made a mistake.

It also assists with the current coin price a little, assuming the new TOR coin holds at least some value. People wouldn't take a big loss then, or at worst, a little loss.

Since Apex holdings would also influence distribution, it should in turn increase the demand, and therefore the price, at least somewhat. So it would buy you some time pricewise before you need to release the next feature ... in this case, I believe it was that fancier wallet.

You can use Bittrex for the distribution, or go with the Clams model based on the wallet/blockchain (or however they did it). I'd prefer the former myself, as it'd probably be easier all around. Anyway, just an idea, and it's certainly safer than doing the coin swap, and better than doing nothing at all.

1610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If ethereum becomes too expensive it fails on: July 25, 2014, 10:03:07 PM
One thing I have wondered about is ...

if it becomes really too expensive, could they simply use fragments of Ether to power the applications using the network? Sort of like a stock split, I guess.
1611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL][APEX] What Feature Should we Adapt Next? on: July 25, 2014, 09:49:04 PM
In light of the failed TOR implementation, I say we have a re-vote.

To go ahead with the decentralized market idea would totally kill this coin. We need new features with quicker turn arounds to re-boost confidence before committing to "months" of development.

Just my 2p Smiley

Agreed. I didn't even want the market before the TOR issue, but now even more so. Unless it could be worked on in the background, that is.
1612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [APEX] APEX Coin | X13 | PoW/PoS Hybrid on: July 25, 2014, 07:02:09 PM
If you (or I should say the community) decides not to fork for TOR, I suggest trying to add something else quickly. Be it an explorer, newer wallet, mobile wallet... more exchanges... articles...  something. People will want to see the dev being able to deliver something useful, otherwise we'll just be staring at posts complaining about the lack of TOR.

Not entirely sure how the price will react, it already took a bit of a tumble, but it was already pretty low to begin with, so I'm not sure if people already figured TOR in the price or not. So it could recover, so long as the devs are active.

Although I was one of the first to sign up, I'd prefer payment in SRCC, as discussed earlier in this thread. I'll assume last month SRCC payout rates remain where they were, I think around 55 SRCC/post for full members?

I did a quick skim through my posts to see if any didn't qualify, but the ones I looked at seem to be long enough. There certainly could be shorter ones buried deeper in my post history, but if you look through my posting, you'll see I certainly should have made up for any shorter ones... I tend to post a decent amount, and most tend to be rather wordy.

1614  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [APEX] APEX Coin | X13 | PoW/PoS Hybrid on: July 25, 2014, 05:35:41 PM
What were the reasons for the coin swaps on other coins? I believe they all had issues, were forked, or had other problems? A swap by itself doesn't indicate any specific reason a coin should tank, especially if it's swapping to gain new features. I'd think it's early enough in the coin's life that it wouldn't negatively affect any value, but I may be in the minority opinion there.
1615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Should we enable the Crypti owners to trade their holdings right now? on: July 25, 2014, 04:50:48 PM
Think there is consensus to start trading CRSALE. Please start asap otherwise it's useless because launch is near.
nod~~~~

Yeah, might as well rush this, so they can do a pre-sale really quickly, seeing as the actual sale is right around the corner anyway. So let's change the rules of the ipo. It's crazy.

And as stated, it messes up the sell-back terms as stated in the ipo to begin with. I also wonder how many that are so eager for this early pre-sale simply want to dump so they can buy into the Ether IPO? It may be a coincidence, but the max coin offer for Ether ends in around 12 days, which may explain why people can't wait a measly 16 or so days for this to hit a marketplace normally.
1616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL][APEX] What Feature Should we Adapt Next? on: July 25, 2014, 04:44:09 PM
dogecoin is to maintain an emotional connection emotional and social currency, it is easy to spread currency. apexcoin , and Turkey as a symbol, giving it culture, it will be the same as dogecoin transmitted to people.

WTf?

I read that like 50 times and I'm not 100% sure I know what is even trying to be communicated there. Make apex coin the national coin of Turkey is what I read.... unless they mean the bird, either way I'm confused.

Pretty sure he is saying to use the turkey (bird) as the symbol for the coin, as turkeys are the apex of the bird kingdom, due to their delicious nature. And by doing so, we shall feed the hunger hidden within all people, striving for a better life, a better culture, and stronger social ties.

Or perhaps he just used google translate and it came out all weird.
1617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Last two Bitcoins on Ethereum on: July 25, 2014, 06:51:23 AM

I know, I seen the FUD game played when Cloak and Crypt was released. It was ridiculous.  After seeing how both coins attacked each other I sold both.  And good thing I did. No real development because they were too busy spreading FUD and Hype. Its whats altcoins have come too..

I do like NXT. Its one of my top three holdings. Innovative technology and not just another clone.

I made a bit on Cloak and still hold some. But there are some giant red flags with that coin. It's one of those coins I would never recommend to anyone, but... could be profitable, at least short term.

I at least try to mostly go for coins that have some unique feature, things like Drk, or even some of the recent ICOs, Via and Crypti. Or Ethereum even. Problem with Ethereum is of course is it's too popular. I was set to invest a rather decent size amount (at least for me), until I saw how much they collected.

And the fud/hype thing happens with all coins, so I don't necessarily consider it a deal breaker. But it's incredibly annoying. I guess sometimes you can use the pattern to your advantage though. Fud after a pump quite often seems to mean whales are eating again, fud dies off, hype starts up, another pump... repeat as necessary. Just watch the pattern and try to swim with whales.
1618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Last two Bitcoins on Ethereum on: July 25, 2014, 06:29:54 AM

BTW: I own some NXT. But, it seems like every coin has it following and they become more diluted and divided every day. Everyone seems to be pumping their own coin of elegance and hoping to get out at a higher price or in hopes of breaking even after the dump. I see less and less of development and infrastructure into existing coins, because the real money is made by developers in pumping and dumping the latest new coin.

I can't disagree there. I was just commenting on NXT, as it didn't really look like a pump and dump coin to me. They did have that little rise recently, after NEM used its exchange thingy, too.

People don't have patience, and in many cases, rightfully so. It seems devs have moved on from premines, to ICOs, instamines, or some other way to make their money. I almost felt better when devs had a premine, as at least I'd know they'd stick around long enough to dump it.

It can be depressing watching trollboxes, as it's sort of the pump and dump mindset in full force. The thing I mind the most, I think, isn't even the pumping/dumping, just the hype/fud game here and price manipulation, that tends to go along with it. It's like a bizarre game, that tends to get annoying after a while.

1619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Last two Bitcoins on Ethereum on: July 25, 2014, 06:19:08 AM

Not the exact numbers but close to.  NXT had a 1.5 BTC limit and back then 1 BTC was $60 to $150 in October.  Only like 20 people invested the 1.5 BTC limit and those people got around 5% of NXT each, so yes these people made $2 - $4 million in 2014 depending on when they sold.

NXT wasn't the only coin.  There was tons tons tons of alternates that were premined, instamined or bought up by a small number of people who took in a lot percentage of a coin for next to nothing and later made huge amounts.  The best time to get into a coin is the very beginning where huge amounts can be bought for next to nothing.

I look almost every day / week for a NXT styled opportunity but they're rather rare.

I'm almost glad I wasn't around when NXT held it's IPO, as I'd be kicking myself for skipping it.

Almost all ICOs nowadays for decent coins get a lot of attention, which I guess is the problem. Assuming there are even decent ones to begin with. I wonder how many people invest in ICOs randomly just based on how NXT did? I expect a lot.
1620  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Last two Bitcoins on Ethereum on: July 25, 2014, 06:13:34 AM

So its about buying at the beginning and dumping after so the late investors are the bad holders? Thats about right, sounds like the state of the altcoin markets today.

I haven't kept track of NXT that closely, but it's still going strong. I'm not so sure I'd call any current NXT investor a bag holder. Their IPO and limited distribution is what people tend to bring up as a negative for it... probably holds it back some.
