It seems kind of wasteful, since it uses the same hash type as litecoin but cannot be merged-mined alongside litecoin. Without the ability to merge they are each weaker by however much hashing power people put into the other. The two should be merge-able; until they are one or both is likely to be half as strong as it could be.

Why can't they be merged mined? I must have missed this part...

I still see no community interest in a block chain that is :
1. Merge mined 2. Has 5, maybe 10, squatters of all popular/usable domain names 3. Just lack of participation from the community. The forum looks dead as trash.

There's nothing bear market about this chart. Any pullback to around 8 is bought aggressively. http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/mtgoxUSD#rg90ztgSza1gSMAzm1g20za2gSMAzm2g50zi1gVolzi2gMACDzi3gRSIAlso, Mt. Gox does not support stop orders. nor do they allow any leverage. So buying high in hopes of triggering others to buy higher, or selling low in hopes of triggering others to sell lower, just does not work in this market. The act of "stop hunting" is also illegal in regulated markets, but it does occur regularly. Anyone issuing a market-buy or market-sell order for 30,000 BTC will guarantee themselves the worst possible price on that trade. That's ok, because you can trade against those people and profit quite handsomely. The biggest buy I made was 3200 BTC below 8 the first time pirate pushed it down there, and bragged that he had the 8.00 ask wall. I sold all of those coins over $9.00 within 24 hours. And rightfully so. Anything that got sold at $9.50+ came back down.

If we make it through this whole episode with BitcoinExpress and the threat of a 51%, I posture that it will signal a symbolic end of what you could call "the Early Adopter Period" and will give rise to a new time of infrastructure development.
This 51% scare has not only mobilized the LTC community in a way I think many didn't expect possible, it also has generated a greater sense of "ownership" among coin holders as a psychological reaction to the threat of being 'attacked'. Interestingly I would note also that much like durring a flood when individuals who's possessions are not threatened by the rising waters find great satisfaction and pride in contributing to an effort to protect the possessions of others, we see here also a large number of people contributing to the LTC effort regardless of whether or not they had something to lose by it's collapse.
Hopefully this has galvanized the community in such a way that will make it possible to move forward with strong growth. As some pointed out in a post that I lost the link of (pm?), the time for BTC GPU miners to switch to Litecoin is not actually in October but rather already now. LTC is already more profitable to mine and for those invested in BTC GPU equipment the difficulty is comparatively low. We most likely won't be able to say the same come ASIC's arrival and an ever increasing number of BTC miners can be expected to being to start applying hash power towards the LTC network. The ability of the LTC community to dramatically push the hash power of the network up durring this time of (panic) by BitcoinExpress further confirms that there is a latent pool of computational power that people are willing to apply to LTC.
Additionally this 'end of the early adopter period' coincides with a difficulty that from now on prevents all but the largest of miners from acquiring large balances through solely mining alone- and even then it will be difficult. This means that production of coins will be distributed across a wider number of individuals, and even for those producing small numbers of coins, the psychological impact will be significant. The sense of community will grow as a larger number of individuals (mining fewer coins individually) will feel a greater sense of community, and due to an increasing difficulty of mining, they will attach a greater monetary value to their coins.
It also means that the acquisition of large amounts of LTC wealth will begin to require more and more ingenuity rather then computational hash power. I think we should expect to see people increasingly act in an entrepreneurial capacity to accomplish this: building services, accepting LTC as payment, and yes- theft.
If all goes well for the next few days, I expect to see a bright and positive future ahead for crypto.
Was thinking the same thing man... Well said.

Bitlane, did you say something, I can't hear you? ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi50.tinypic.com%2F2yk10qo.jpg&t=663&c=cWKltPXqODaoWg) I'll help you:) I really wish you hadn't posted this....
Now BlowHardEXpress is going to swoop in and claim to be the 'LTC Savior' and that strengthening the community was it's plan all along.
Really chaps your ass that something good could come of this doesn't it? I detect some serious jealously. ~BCX~ Come on BlowHardEXpress ..... get your shit together and put this attack into full swing already.... LMAO You are a fucking JOKE and have ZERO credibility on this forum. I am going to have to guess that the reason you are so butthurt with Solidcoin is because you accepted IT as payment for sexual services rendered....then it dropped in price. 700 EC2s.....Blah fucking blah.... 100 GH....... Gay bikes, Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles and Asian Chicks. LOL

It was fun to joke about, oh well.
And luke I hope your kidding, it wasn't a "scam" it was literally just a fork to fuck around with. It wasn't going to go anywhere anyway.
Yeah, that's why they were rushing to get exchanges trading it... Wow you assume too many things. There was no real interest in BBQ coin nor was there any interest for an exchange.

You know what...have it buyers. Buy up all the bitcoins while they are <$100. That way you run out of cash to buy anymore and the price will fall back to a more "economic" value. Have at it! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) P.S. Price will still go below $7.50 Translation: I am worried the market is not as bearish as I'm leading myself to believe, so I will post this to reassure myself and see if people will reinforce my bearish market opinion. Translation: I can't come up with my own way to mock others so I'll steal other people's material to do so.

I think you got the saying wrong.
It is:
THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.
Money is just a tool if you use it correctly and for the right purposes.
Herp derp? Or is it the love of money that’s the root of all evil? To love a thing is to know and love its nature. To love money is to know and love the fact that money is the creation of the best power within you, and your passkey to trade your effort for the effort of the best among men. It’s the person who would sell his soul for a bitcent, who is loudest in proclaiming his hatred of money–and he has good reason to hate it. The lovers of money are willing to work for it. They know they are able to deserve it.
TL; DR I just read title...

I bet you dollars to donuts that Daniel Parnell (aka RealSolid) is on social assistance while he works "full time capacity" on the microcash code. He doesn't work - his wife doesn't work - how are they supporting their family?
Is there anyone in Australia that would want to make a little phone call and let them know that Daniel is committing fraud by running his own business while being on welfare?
Hey retard, Ever heard of running a business that gives you passive income? Not everyone is employed from 9 to 5. Unfortunately those who are (like you) are delusional to the point where they think its the only way to make money. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Sure sounds like RealAss/CoinTard is getting irritated because we are criticizing his dumb ass.

She has told me her name and that she lives in the same area, but we've never met in person. For all I know, it could be a total lie.
You know she's told you she lives in the same area. You know her name. Why aren't you saying it? After all it could just be a lie. Let's find out. Edit: and if you don't say her (alleged) name in the next post. I'll assume you are hiding something. Why is everyone so mad ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) What pisses me of is coblee acts like he has no idea who she is. When he knows almost everything you need to know to "dox" her. She help him with litecoin in the beginning? They've talked in IIRC? WTF? The name he probably got wasn't the real name perhaps eh? Then doxing becomes pointless bcuz you have the wrong person.

This happens with BTC-e every once in a while. If you haven't experienced this interruption before then you are New. Don't get all worked up. It will be back online shortly.
I've had an account there for close to 10 months. So no I haven't seen that message. And no I'm not "new".

Oops! Anyone who sold at $9 expecting to buy back at $8 now has to buy back at $8.8. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Don't speak too soon.
