I don't have access to good charting software for bitcoin, so I can't speak for the particular trendline the OP has drawn, but IMO trendlines in general are a very useful analytical tool for trading. People who trash technical analysis usually don't understand it, or how to use it as a tool for trading.
Yeah but how many people trade on log charts using trend lines? Not very many that I've seen in my experience. Agreed. A trend line on a linear chart is much more significant. The best reason to buy today IMO is that we are seeing high volume panic selling. Patience = Profit

Just snatched me up another 100 btc at $4.80
too early. agreed. OP: I guess you're going to ignore all of the linear trendlines that we just broke too huh?

So basically you drew a line that touches the bottom points and call it significant?
I did Only time can prove me wrong *lalalala* No forex trader or stock trader ever uses a log chart to determine trend. Not sure what historical data your method is based on.

You going to release a new version or shall we restart?
It is following the trend perfectly, now is the time to get in. If it drops below $4 today then we'll be outside of the green lines. Then will you shut up? Yeah will you? Log chart means nothing...

Yes, it's supposed to. But by adjusting the timstamp of the first and last block in each diff period you can make it retarget /4 *every single time* Ah, now I understand, thank you. Verily illustrative and creative, as usual. ArtForz, first and foremost, I would like to officially invite you to offer your guidance and advice - I am merely a curious n00b, sacarlson is pretty busy, and this experiment could use input from someone like you (other input than cleverly crafted blocks, that is ) Now, as for this particular case, would you kindly answer the following questions: 1) Does this method affect only forks with time-based diff ? 2) Could you please suggest any fixes other than abandoning time-based diff retarget? 3) Would abandoning time-based retarget "fix" it ? Wow, I stop it for a bit and diff shoots back up to > 120 like instantly...
Probably the stupidest diff alg ever. The longer you don't generate a block the harder it gets?lol EDIT: No offense to the OP. Actually, the opposite should be true, LOL LOL sure seems that way though. I commend you on your good attitude despite the oversight and artforz exploiting it. Good learning experience I'd say for all.

3Gh, and I'm not orphaning other miners blocks on purpose.
Did you alter the code or something?
// Update nTime if ((pindexPrev->nHeight+2) % 16 == 0) pblock->nTime = max(pindexPrev->GetMedianTimePast()+1, GetAdjustedTime() + 1800); else if ((pindexPrev->nHeight+1) % 16 == 0) pblock->nTime = pindexPrev->GetMedianTimePast()+1; else pblock->nTime = max(pindexPrev->GetMedianTimePast()+1, GetAdjustedTime());
*walks away whistling* LOL did you drop your 50GH on this?

1 sec blocks. Pumping in geistgeld here edit And difficulty is back to 0.06 again I'm curious to the difficulty adjustment algorithm here.
i seen it go from 1 to 4 to 12.8...wtf
My prediction is: parity
to what?
It doesn't make sense, there is still only one connection,
I smell something very fishy about this
There are about 1-2 listners right now Also, do try the tweaks (previous page) Given that so far no GeistGeld are sold and bought, what "fishy" could I probably pull off ? Imma not even mining them anymore Git and win downloads updated with a better, listener friendlier config (add "portsend=7769" W/O quotes if you don't want to download anything)Maybe I missed it but how does difficulty adjust exactly?

I don't believe that, when the profits are gone we will have mostly miners that want Bitcoin to get big long term, and there are a lot of them. And also, this high inflation environment is a one time thing, it will be over in Dec of 2012.
Wait why...ohhh, LOLOL Are you a greedy miner ? How does that 6 dollar exchange rate feel? I think you will feel really good with a 3-4 dollar exchange rate. lol go mine at a loss for a while haha

Seems like I lose connectivity periodcically. Happen to you?
