It [ASIC mining] will affect the amount of sold coins for a while and that is because the absolute amount of coins being created increases for a certain period of time. During the ASIC boom this amount will be significantly higher than usual. We will have 2 week periods where the regular 7200 bitcoins (or 3600 after December) per day simply does not apply, difficulty might double in one of those periods meaning that there are actually much more coins than usual being created.
Good point. 1. down (through increased coin production) 2. up (through reward halving) Or the other way around, depending on what event hits first. Increased coin production will only be temporary because once difficulty adjusts for the faster coin generation the coin supply will get dried up.

Because I'm dirt-poor? Do you know how little government workers make? And it doesn't help that the cost-of-living adjustment for Mountain View is an inadequate joke. I'm living paycheck-to-paycheck, with two extra mouths to feed.
But that isn't even the point. If people think it's a good cause, that we're the right people to do it, and if they've got some cash to spare, they'll donate. That's an ethical transaction between us and them; why should you care?
This will be my last post on the subject. But feel free to engage me in a discussion about the merits of the proposal or demurrage currencies per se.
Translation: Pity me and support my project because I'm poor. Give me your money so I can make you more money.

Remember the term Open-source and free kind of go hand in hand. Asking people to fund your project goes against that very concept. That couldn't be further from the truth. These days only a small minority of free or open-source software is developed and maintained as weekend/hobby projects. But anyway, why should the quality of the idea represent a legitimate demand on my personal time and resources? I thought we were mostly libertarians here--what's wrong with seeking even minimal compensation just to cover the cost of production? Is there something inherently unethical about donating specifically to the cause of creating a open-source/free software project? Would you object to someone making a similar donation to the Debian foundation? What about the Google Summer of Code interns? Are they scum for accepting stipends for the work they do? I really don't see the logic of that argument. We priced the Indiegogo as low as we could make it while still doing a top-notch job, accomplishing all the goals listed in the timeframe specified. You might not believe it, but servers cost money to build and run, marketing artwork takes resources to make, and code takes time to build. $28k is our conservative, at-cost guestimate of how much it would take to complete the proposal and to do it right (no cutting corners), plus the Indiegogo fees and taxes. Okay then why don't YOU fund the entire project yourself???

I find it hard to believe that each person (on average) has only invest $151 of their time, electricity, or finances on LTC with the hardware that exists, the mining software that exists (reaper etc.), and the sites that have come up (mostly pools for the time being). Now coupling all of this with the fact that ASICS will drive GPU and FPGA miners elsewhere once ASICS hit the bitcoin market. The price of BTC will increase which in turn will also doubly increase the price of LTC. Then again...I could be wrong

Honest question... Silver? Pizza? Gold? Alpaca Socks? Hardware? Please post your ideas...

Or here's a thought: why don't you troll somewhere else?
I'm happy to respond to any reasonable questions about the economics of the proposal. But let's keep the discourse level-headed and rational, okay?
No Loup is right this idea is not going to work. Remember the term Open-source and free kind of go hand in hand. Asking people to fund your project goes against that very concept.

Bully, old sport, I just have to put you out of your misery on this one, even though it would be a lot more fun to watch you try to figure it out. For weeks. Trust me, it is better I shoot you in the head once, than watch you shoot yourself in the foot a thousand times.
In North America most school districts provide school bus service to carry students to school. For those "special" students, a Short Bus (which is a smaller capacity bus) with mounting points for wheelchairs, restraints for when kids get violent, and heavy duty surface coverings to permit easy clean-up of the drool, vomit and other body excretions that often soil the vehicle, is used. To state it very clearly when I refer to a ShortBusCoin, I am making an allegory that the developers and users of said coin are mentally retarded, slow, challenged, cretins, simple, touched in the head, spastic, nutters, or whack jobs. It is unfortunate that you embraced the allegory, and are fighting to compare "bus sizes" with penis length, it seems to make you desperate to fit in with the Short Bus crowd (!) a position unenviable in terms of mental acuity or penis size. Using a "pump" won't help with these shortcomings, it's really more genetic who is more intelligent. As it is obvious what a real crypto-coin is all about, and quite obviously (to anybody with an IQ in double digits) MicroIntellectualPropertyTheftCash and/or ShortBusCoin will never fill that need. They are built wrong. Like tits on a bull- they are just of no damn use whatsoever, and they make you want to laugh at the stupid bull.

1 Oz silver is worth 27.4750 USD at current market rates. That's 4.114 BTC. That's 2463 LTC at the currently overinflated LTC price.
That's slv price. Go look up silver eagle prices You are right that they cost more, but not much more: http://www.straightsilver.com/store/ - 32.34 USD 4.843 BTC 2899.86 LTC If you are including delivery within the US in that price it's not far off. Keep in mind that when those offers we're made the price of LTC was about 0.0012btc. Price has moved a bit since. FYI

Nonsense, the utter failure to meet a single release date, the silence of the ignorant lambs, and the reality that it is just another ShortBusCoin scam based on stolen intellectual property is just a flesh wound.
I'm sure this phoenix will get crapped out one day to much acclaim and sock-puppet adoration, only to tank just as massively as every other attempt from the ShortBus of Fools.
Why do you keep calling it short bus I don't understand ... His point exactly (including you on the shortbus) What is the meaning of this "shortbus" is what I don't understand. Me on the short bus ? I am confused Do I want to be on the "long" bus ? Is this about epeen or something ? OMG this is so funny Loup ! lol

smoothie: I'd be more likely to question the motivation of a cryptocurrency developer who doesn't ask for money.
Hmm perhaps then you should put your faith into what you wouldnt be more likely to question right? Oh wait, you wont do that because you dont believe what you just wrote. Please prove me wrong and send the OP your money I already have. How much?

The price of bitcoin has and always will be speculative... The sky is the limit but so is the floor... Yes but most of us can touch the floor not much of us can "touch" the sky

I think the price of litecoins in due for a large rally...
I suspect the second half of 2012 will have some quite volatile price movements for both BTC and LTC and USD and SLV and GLD I suspected that for the first half of 2012. Didn't materialize to the extent I imagined... Well my suspicion has a reason. It's election season and the markets will be moving more based on those events. Volatility will pick up in the second half of 2012
