1681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: February 28, 2023, 07:12:52 PM
So Fulton fighting in Japan is somehow worrisome since Japan is known as a country that has an unfair judging system.  So I think in order to win Fulton needs to KO Inoue. If Fulton failed to knock out Inoue, no matter how ahead he is in point, there is a huge possibility that he will lose the fight.

In fairness to Inoue, I think he really needs to finish the fight with a KO win or dominating performance to remove all rumors and assumption that the fight is unfairly judged.

We should not take that unfair judging speculation on that fight until we see how the match will go.

Naoya Inoue's entire win in Japan didn't associate with controversy because the match was clearly dominated by him.

Maybe just judge the fight after it happened. It didn't even come to my mind that something like that will happen especially at this big fight.

I also got the opposite way where I believe that Japan is much more known for their honest and fair character as right from the start where they are still kids, their culture is putting so much for them to learn how to respect and to be honest in any given circumstances. Now I know that Japan itself also got an infamous rumors about them but that doesn't give us any right to judge them.

Inoue having this kind of status was because of his dedication and talent, surely, Inoue himself is the reason why he's right where he is now and not because he got some help.
1682  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My $300 bet won $417,000 on: February 28, 2023, 04:52:07 PM
Legendary parlay hit op. Personally, I am a big fan of parlays and my biggest win was around $1500 so far by wagering just a couple of cents. Luck sided with you in a big way and choosing Sportsbet was smart.
However, I disagree with your statement about how you feel it's close to impossible winning from casino games. There are tons and tons of examples out there that prove that the probability of winning big from casino games is just slightly lower than sports betting.
Luck is the most important factor in casino games and sports betting.

You're right when you say luck is the most important factor in both casino and sports betting but I guarantee if you placed 100 $1 bets on casino and 100 $1 bets on sports the latter would be more profitable.
Another factor is an average sports match lasts around two hours so if you watch the match live like I do and don't place any other bets you only lose that one wager. How many spins or bets can you place on slots/casinos in a two hour period?
I've played both slots/casinos and sports for close to a decade and in my personal experience sports is much more profitable and it isn't even close.

Perhaps you will have a desire to start a thread here on the forum where you would share your current bets and predictions for matches, I think it was interesting for many who are involved in sports betting but do not really understand the current state and potential of teams.

That would be very lovely if the OP will indeed share some of his early predictions on a certain game on a certain sports. Not just us but I bet there would be a lot of bettors on this forum who would love to see your early picks/predictions, we never know, we might agree with it and place the same bets like the OP does. Having that huge victory is no ordinary luck, for me, that can be called as a once in a lifetime experience.
1683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 28, 2023, 04:06:16 PM
And of course, no player can get any injury, especially LeBron or AD
I'm more concern on AD.

I just bumped on this article:
Quote
Just as the Lakers seem to be building some momentum with a three-game winning streak, with their stars shining and the new additions playing their part, James looks set to be in for a spell on the sidelines.

Multiple reports say the 19-time All-Star could miss several weeks, but is awaiting further tests to determine the full extent of the injury.
https://edition.cnn.com/2023/02/28/sport/los-angeles-lakers-players-qualify-nba-spt-intl/index.html

I guess it's now all on AD because LeBron might not be able to play for quite some time as the injury on his foot is not that good. After their win against the Mavs recently, LeBron's video showing that he's having a hard time walking has been circulating in almost sports media outlet. This is a big challenge for the Lakers especially now that they are chasing more wins to at least participate in the Play-In.
1684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is currently the best crypto to invest in? on: February 27, 2023, 05:43:34 PM
...I wish to invest in crypto with cash, but with minimal knowledge,so I seek the help of this house in advise on which crypto to invest in currently as someone who is just getting to learn about crypto currency.

This way of investing on someone else's advice will not lead you to success. However, the most common answer would be that a beginner should invest in bitcoin, as it is the safest in the cryptocurrency market. If you had more knowledge, then you could choose something from altcoins and such an investment could bring more profit.

Yes, it's really much better to equip yourself with a knowledge so that you as an investor knows what to do throughout your cryptocurrency journey. It's just like starting a business, how can you manage your business carefully if you do not know what to do and how to make your business flourishing. There are some people are who are still successful in their crypto journey even if they just have a minimal knowledge, but I really don't recommend to do the same thing as it's too risky.
1685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez on: February 27, 2023, 05:03:13 PM
I do not think that Caleb Plant has any real chance against David Benavidez. For Benavidez this entire fight is just basically a PR/marketing stunt to do right by his fans and his image as well as his overall boxing career. If it was not for his cocaine embarrassment, this fight would probably never even take place.

He did not take any drugs which would enhance his fighting skills/abilities or training regiments, its just him being punished for being found out. This changes nothing  in his fighting ability, though. Which is why its going to be an easy win.

I see no reason to punish him for his drug habit other than deceiving his fans who bet money on him to be physically and mentally healthy in his fights. His habit might get him in prison or he might have a heart attack. I guess this makes us feel a bit uneasy to bet on him.

A drug test is part of any sports regulation so David being caught positive deserved punishment. And who knows, his family or any member of his family is also part of the syndicate. Do you remember when his older brother Jose another big potential in boxing was shot and hit in the leg? That injury affected Jose's footwork and was stopped by Crawford.

Anyways, I also think David will be like a bull in the ring, too strong and too heavy-handed against Caleb. Caleb needs to hit David with a damaging shot to get his respect, otherwise, David will just continue to become aggressive and might even open himself to lure Caleb's defense. I see a David stoppage in the 2nd half of the fight but I am hoping for the underdog Caleb to pull an upset.

David Benavidez getting his punishment in the past was already enough for him because every move has always a consequence entailed, but speculating or accusing that maybe one or two of his family are also using it? That's quite a bit too much mate, and if ever you are right, we don't have any right to prosecute them because that's their personal life.

I bet you wouldn't want the same thing too and hear that somebody is accusing you or a member of your family, right? So, let's just focus on the topic and let their personal lives out of this.
1686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Shuichiro Yoshino April 8 on: February 27, 2023, 03:06:10 PM
Their record is well paired. Both have an undefeated record and have power punches that can knock out their opponent.  Though I have a feeling that this will be an easy fight for Shakur Stevenson since looking at the quality of the opponent, Stevenson has faced a better opponent and beat them.  This will be a test for the Japanese fighter if he can be as hot as Naoya Inoue in terms of dominating the ring.

Both boxers wanted the rewards that is earned after this fight but only one of them will continue successfully as a draw in this bout is very unlikely to happen and besides, we both know here who got the right talent to continue on his journey and who doesn't have what it takes to take the said reward. Shakur is on a campaign to get either Haney or Loma, so I don't really think that he'll just give this Japanese guy an easy way in.

I think this fight will have one fighter kissing the canvas since both have devastating power punches.

In terms of record, yes, it is well paired but on power level? I guess no, we probably know why as even the bookies gave 7:1 underdog odds to Yoshino despite having a good record but that record was just established inside Japan, so more like a localize fights rather than being held in an international ring like this bout.

Still though, we shouldn't be careless because there are some cases that the heavy underdogs will rise from the mud and defeat the favorite. But in this case, I definitely think that the chances are really slim and it's just unfortunate for Yoshino because he's being paired with Shakur.
1687  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 27, 2023, 02:20:59 PM
90 minutes until the Suns take on the Bucks on ABC/ESPN3. It sounds like the Suns aren’t going to play Durant until Wednesday but you gotta have the game ready to watch just in case he does get on the floor. I think if Durant plays then the Suns win, if he doesn’t then the Bucks win. Although Giannis might still be a bit sore from his injury so the Suns have a chance either way.

That's what I expected as well that the Suns might go home with a win on their side because we know that their current roster is somehow a threat already to any team on the league right now even if Durant aren't yet around with them. But that wasn't the case on the game their earlier because they even haven't got any round in their favor, the Bucks was always one step ahead with them. It's evident enough that the Bucks are really confident because they just let Middleton in between quarter.
1688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your reasons for holding bitcoins? on: February 27, 2023, 09:59:52 AM
Bitcoin is not your Goldsmith or some banks you build at home that you can control anytime you like.

I think you should get your facts straight mate because bitcoin is indeed giving you the chance to be your own bank and yes, you can control it anytime you like. If you somehow hold a large sum of coins in your portfolio, be sure that you are not that dumb to place your coins in a hot wallet. Make sure that it's a non-custodial wallet, so that you can control it any time you like and move it anytime you like.

Quote
My questions is people keeping bitcoin for too long and begins to hear story?

Because why not? You should just need to know more about bitcoin and do your own research to know why there's a lot of people if not, majority of people who hodl bitcoin for long-term.
1689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I gave investment advice to my grandfather. on: February 27, 2023, 09:25:41 AM
My grandfather has some wealth. Now my grandfather will invest all his wealth in Bitcoin. I told my grandfather not to invest all your wealth in Bitcoin. I suggested to my grandfather that Bitcoin not only has the potential for profit, but also the potential for loss. So you invest some wealth in Bitcoin. You don't have to sit on the street if your investment suffers.

My only question to all, was I able to give my grandfather the right advice??

Yes, you did the right thing OP. I believe our first role is to plant the seeds into their mind that there is indeed bitcoin that was created to help the whole humankind about its existence and to help the people against the overwhelming inflation that is increasing as much as almost twice annually.

But give your grandfather some advice again that he shouldn't put all his wealth into bitcoin because even if the profits is good, it's still risky to do it because its future is still not guaranteed although that chances are just slim. Risk are risks and it is still better to be safe than sorry. I'm afraid that someday in the future, when everything will fail, he will blame you because you introduced him about the existence of bitcoin.
1690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 26, 2023, 12:25:53 PM
Denver Nuggets lost in a blowout at Memphis. Looks like the long rest affected them and they cannot find their outside shots. 0/4 3-pts for KCP which is rare considering he is 45 percent on downtown shots.
Jamal Murray also not doing well with 3/13 FG.
Tillman defended Jokic pretty well which will stop the offensive plays of the Nuggets, good work for him stepping up his game while Adams is out.
No, this is their second game already after the All-Star break. Their first game was against the Cavaliers on the road, and they won that game.

Let us not overreact. Memphis is not a bad team, so it's no surprise that they won via a dominant performance. They can even dominate on the road, so how much more when they are at home. This team is good, but it's not as consistent as the Denver Nuggets, so let's give them credit for their performance in this game. They deserve it.

It's just a bad night for the Nuggets and they were not able to bounce back after the first quarter. Interesting numbers is that they average 31 points in the first quarter alone, but against Memphis, they just scored 20.

So give credit to the Memphis team for their good defense, not just on Murray but held Jokic as well to 15 points and just 3 assist.

This is just one game though for the Nuggets, they are the top team in the West, they can surely bounce back.

That's right, Memphis should focus on improving their game instead of bragging and trash talking. The playoffs are a different ball game and they need to make sure they are prepared for it. If they continue to play with inconsistency, they may not even make it past the first round, so they need to stay focused and work hard to become a strong team that can compete with the best in the league.
1691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Figueroa vs Magsayo WBC Interim Featherweight Title (March 4) on: February 26, 2023, 11:26:25 AM
Figueroa's trainer might got another way how to utilize the skill that he have because they both know that they cannot follow everything that Vargas has done to Magsayo when they first clashed with each other. They will just pick a thing or two from that fight that they think that could help Figueroa's skills to enhance his chances towards Magsayo. Let's just expect about it already as Vargas is not the same with Figueroa, so it's given that they will have a different kind of approach.
Both camp probably watched how these boxers fight and see if what they can do to improve their skills for their own advantage. It's possible that Figueroa's trainer might use how Vargas beat and dominate Magsayo knowing the weakness of the latter is already exposed.

On the other side, Magsayo needs to improve his stamina and timing on when to give an accurate punch. He needs a strategy to take down Figueroa, otherwise he can't bounce back from the previous loss.

I think Magsayo will train harder so he won't lose in the same way again. Figueroa needs to develop more strategies to avoid being predictable since Magsayo is a powerful puncher and a one-hit knockout kind of boxer. Although I admit that he doesn't have the stamina of a real warrior, it can be improved of course.

We should not talk about how Figueroa will win because he is expected to win based on the betting odds. For those who have no idea about the betting odds of this fight, you can check online. Figueroa is the heavy favorite. So, I'm more concerned about how Magsayo will be able to get back on his usual winning path. In his last fight, he didn't look convincing enough. In order to attract the attention of the media, he needs to win via knockout.
1692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: February 26, 2023, 11:00:10 AM

Sure he is one exciting boxer to watch while fighting. Even at his age, he is given the chance to win a champ title.
There are certain Donaire fights that really live long in my memory.
He is one best fighter in his prime , but of course all boxer will fade and I believe that Donaire is starting his, but hopefully that he will get it back and before retirement? there will be belt in his name to hold till his gone..

Yes, Donaire will be one of the most memorable fighters in history. Donaire is not just a clear first ballot in the Hall of Fame but If I remember correctly, Donaire was top 2 pound-for-pound by the bible of boxing, The Ring, during his prime years. Donaire also received many awards from boxing's 2 most prestigious groups, The Ring, and BWAA. His unforgettable knockouts over former champions Vic Darchinyan and Fernando Montiel were both KO of the Year. Donaire was also a 1-time Fighter of the Year. So many legends in this sport yet only a few of them are able to receive awards from either The Ring or BWAA.

Back into this fight. Everyone's rooting for Donaire to win another title at this stage of his career and hopefully, he will get it.

That's the kind of achievement that people will not forget. There are few champions in the Philippines, but they have not achieved the kind of success Donaire has enjoyed, except for Manny Pacquiao, who is the only eight-time division world champion. Even though Donaire is getting older, his passion for sports is still there, so we cannot count him out just because we think he should retire already.
1693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 26, 2023, 07:01:51 AM
W. Kessler 1+ block / L. Markkanen 2+ 3pts / Jazz ML @1.59

I thought the Spurs would win easily, especially since they were leading by a huge margin after the first half. However, since the Jazz are really a good team, they didn't allow the Spurs to dictate the game in the second half. Instead, they took control and ended up winning the game and covering the spread. Kessler had 5 blocks and Markkanen made 3 three-point shots. The Jazz moneyline bet won.

Congratulations!
1694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 26, 2023, 06:41:00 AM
What a great game in Philly!
Jayson Tatum made the last shot before the time expires and won the game. Joel Embiid lacked a little bit more time for the last prayer to be counted.
I was shocked it went in and I even thought he did make it before the buzzer sounded but as the referee checked, it's a "no basket". It could've been better if it went to overtime.  Cheesy
They have given us a picture of what could possibly happen if they meet in the playoffs, which is good, especially if they both reach the ECF. Boston was able to take the lead, but the 76ers came back. Unfortunately, that last shot eliminated their effort to come back and win. Anyway, it was a good and very entertaining game that was definitely worth our time.

Denver Nuggets lost in a blowout at Memphis. Looks like the long rest affected them and they cannot find their outside shots. 0/4 3-pts for KCP which is rare considering he is 45 percent on downtown shots.

1695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My $300 bet won $417,000 on: February 25, 2023, 12:31:48 PM
You are lucky because you are a huge risk taker. Honestly, I'm not sure if I could put a $300 parlay because that is huge for me. You know, with parlay bets, the chances to win are very low. Although you claim that you won because you did your research, I would say you were just 90% lucky.

Anyway, congratulations to you! Kill that sportsbook bankroll and make a living through gambling.
It is only when someone has a good idea of what they are doing that they would be willing to stake big money. $300 is big for gambling based on my income while some people vet more than $300.
In anyway Op was lucky and it could not only be research,  skills and lucky are major determinants.
That's why it's important to only gamble what you can afford. For OP to risk $300 in a parlay might seem insane to some, but for him, it's a serious bet because he worked hard for it. OP was lucky, but he also deserved that win because he knew how to risk.

There's a saying that if we want to win big, we also have to bet big. But at the end of the day, the principle has to be followed, and that is to "only bet what you can afford to lose. OP has proved and inspired us that nothing is impossible in gambling.
1696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Shuichiro Yoshino April 8 on: February 25, 2023, 11:46:16 AM
But it's slim though, we all know how good Shakur is and he wouldn't let someone deter his goals of fighting for the belt next. So we should lean on Shakur with a big win via ko/tko.
The winning method odds for Shakur to win via knockout should be high because he's not a knockout artist, so it would be profitable if you want to bet that's option. Yoshino haven't lose in any fight and he tend to win via knockout, so it's quite hard to judge how good his chin. I still think Shakur win via decision is high likely to happen, but the odds still not included and if it's not worth, it's better for me to bet via knockout.

Exactly, the likelihood of Shakur winning by KO is not high. Would you bet on Shakur to win via KO, knowing his boring strategy in boxing? Personally, I doubt that he will win by KO in this fight. Most likely, it will still go the full 12 rounds, and he will win via unanimous decision. However, if you like to have fun and are willing to take the risk, then Shakur winning by KO could be the right bet for you.
1697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: February 24, 2023, 07:54:03 PM
The promotion I think wanted to see him up there in the ring and defend the title while the best in this division but it's still risky when he is challenged by a younger contender. This match makes sports betting more like guessing.

The fact that Donaire is still on the top ranking even at his current age, that's the reason why he is still getting good opportunities like this.

Regardless if the promoters wanted to see him in the ring or not, he is really bound to have a mandatory fight.

He's not being challenged though by young boxers but just doing the task he was assigned for.

Yes and that's why rankings plays an important role in the whole boxing industry because we will likely know who will gets to face who next or who will be fighting for the title if someone vacates their belt. In this instance, WBC's #1 is Donaire which is why he's got this opportunity, the only thing that keeping him from participating is if he will reject the opportunity, but that's not likely as most boxers would love to have it. And yes, sooner or later, Donaire will be called again to defend his belt whether he like or not.
1698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 24, 2023, 07:02:38 PM
They just had their first face to face at the press conference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho4nda7fLJg

What I found funny/interesting is Jake proposed a double or nothing bet to Tommy that if he loses Tommy gets double his purse and Jake gets nothing and even had the contract/bet ready to sign: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZClH_f-k9M

Tommy's dad John Fury was quick to accept quite vocally but Tommy didn't seem too sure and looks like he tried to start a scuffle to change the topic haha. Tommy has seemed very confident up until that. I guess if he was so sure he would gladly take the bet but I don't blame him if he doesn't. Potentially going home with nothing would probably be too much to handle.

Tyson is over there now so maybe his presence will add a bit of extra spice.

Funny how Tommy is silent about their fight, how he barely response to trashtalk. How rages John Fury is over Jake, and how friendly Tyson Fury and Jake behave. Hole bunch of emotions in Fury family, ignorance, love and hate.

Somehow I feel that Tommy does not really wants to fight. Not because he is scared or something like that. But like he was dragged to that fight without much desire. Perhaps, that is due to influence of John Fury. It does not look like Tommy wanted to be a professional boxer when he was a kid.

It was the father's doing that influenced Tommy to be a boxer like his half-brother, Tyson. It's really seems that he doesn't have any choice but to follow his father's command because he doesn't want to be rejected from the family and he needed to be stronger as his Tyson is already making an example.

But in the first place, I reckon that Tommy doesn't want to participate in this bout. He was just forced to do it because he was given a warning that he's no longer welcome to the family if he's not going to do it and if he gets defeated, the father made a statement that he should quit for good in the industry if that happens. So, I'm thinking that Tommy is more inclined to the 2nd choice where he will be a free man and won't be forced to do such fights.
1699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 24, 2023, 06:35:24 PM
Unfortunately, Murray did play in this game, ouch, I thought that he will be out, scored 16 points and that is enough for the Nuggets to win.
They get even better with Murray, but this team is already good even without him, so it's hard to beat them. However, we are talking about the Cavaliers, who have an impressive home record, so they were the right pick. It's just unfortunate that they lost the game.

It was a good game but it was somehow evident enough for me why Nuggets are dominating the league right now behind the Celtics, that is because their ball is well shared as the level of trust to their teammates is already exceptional. Take note that this is the Nuggets without Gordon and Murray but they even dominated the Cleveland on their own home which got a good record while playing at home, I guess that wasn't the case today. Anyway, the game ended in-favor the Nuggets and they seem not too tired at all especially Jokic.
1700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 24, 2023, 05:47:50 PM

Is it already a mandator fight between Callum Smith and Beterbiev? As far as I know, the 3-belt champion is not yet due for another mandatory title defense, correct me if I'm wrong though. But hopefully that it's not yet the case because a unification fight in the light-heavyweight is the one that people wanted and in-fact, avid fans waited for quite a long time. In the end, WBC will be a huge hurdle.

For this fight to be to fruition Callum Smith would need to defeat Pawel Stepien on March 11th, so he can get his mandated fight for the WBC against Artur Beterbiev, so the Artur Beterbiev VS Dmitry Bivol will not happen but Hearn has said he wants this fight to happen in Abu Dhabi but yeah it was a hurdle for that two to fight or collide, but yeah the Callum Smith VS Beterbiev is in the horizon if Smith defeats Pawel Smith because if not there are no chance for Callum to face Beterbiev for a title shot,

I reckon that the place was not a problem because it's the WBC who is making the fight looks impossible to happen as they won't sanction a unification fight between Bivol vs Beterbiev as currently, Russian boxers are barred from getting any titles or additional titles like in Bivol's case.

Just a new update, Hearn has changed his mind and is now pursuing a different route. A doubleheader!
Quote
Eddie Hearn is planning a massive June 3rd doubleheader in Abu Dhabi, headlined by Dmitry Bivol defending his WBA light heavyweight title against his #1 challenger Joshua Buatsi, with IBF, WBC & WBO 175-lb champion Artur Beterbiev battling his WBC mandatory Callum Smith.

Hearn says the card can “absolutely” happen, and he’s eager to put it together to set up two other big fights involving Bivol facing Beterbiev for the light heavyweight undisputed championship and Bivol fighting Canelo Alvarez in a rematch later this year in September.

The downside of Hearn’s plans is that the Bivol-Beterbiev fight would be delayed until possibly December or early next year.
