1701  Other / Meta / Re: Merit - Why every member should have started with a clean slate on: February 02, 2018, 02:26:55 PM
I do not know why members here called it a stupid suggestion. This should have been applied in some form:

1) Adding another rank above legendary.

2) Requiring all ranks to earn "n" number of merits per 3 months or so or they loose current level.

May be this is in the mind of admin already.
1702  Other / Meta / Re: How To Get Merit ? So Fast on: February 02, 2018, 02:14:42 PM
Merit is like behaving good with someone and in return he gives you the same response, the same is with the merit where a good post or positive posts will help you get positive merit and if the opposite happens i.e.you post nonsense or irrelevant to the topic it will give you negative merit.

You are right about the merit part but there is no such thing like negative merit for now.

Here is what the admin said on official thread:

There is currently no such thing as a "demerit". I'm hoping that the positive merits alone will be fine. I could add demerits pretty easily later on if necessary, though.
1703  Other / Meta / Re: Merittalk.org - New Board Request on: February 02, 2018, 02:10:01 PM
I counted approximately 350 threads only in meta about merit, and it seems that merit threads are popping out in other boards as well.
Can we have new board for merit discussion/ideas/merit sharing etc?
Sorry if someone already mentioned this and I missed it.
Even this could have been suggested in the official thread about merit system. Smiley Coming back to your question, I think it is not needed as we will see less of these posts as the merit system gets older.
1704  Other / Meta / Re: Level of Difficulty of Merit Points to Newbies on: February 02, 2018, 02:06:54 PM
Almost no one cares about quality of your posts. Even if your posts are grade A+ there will be a crafty/dodgy hacks with shitposts but much bigger merit.
This is how this forum works.

What are you going to do about this ? If we want to rank up (as new members), all we can do is try our level best. There is no guarantee that you will get some merits even then but it increases the probability.
1705  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 02, 2018, 02:03:22 PM
Is there a way to suggest merit worthy posts to the sources, that is, to post some links of posts that are good and may have been overlooked among the large number of daily posting here?

I made a list of threads where senior members are giving away merits to deserving posts: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2832127.0. Quoting your posts in those threads will certainly get your posts noticed. All the best.
1706  Other / Meta / Re: Why is copyscape not integrated here ? on: February 02, 2018, 02:01:19 PM
Copyscape is a nice service, I’ve used it to find copies of my content. But do they offer real time checking?

They do offer real time checking. I have seen it implemented on a website where about 1000 articles are submitted daily. Regarding price, it was approx $100 or so monthly if I remember correctly.
1707  Other / Meta / Why is copyscape not integrated here ? on: February 02, 2018, 01:49:56 PM
I have a small suggestion for the forum owner. If possible, kindly integrate copyscape with the forum. It will automatically detect copied content whenever a member tries to post it here. Will make the work of moderators easy.
1708  Other / Meta / Re: I've still got 80 sMerit to give away. on: February 02, 2018, 01:39:54 PM
if you have 80 sMerit to give wahaha I need 8 sMerit I keep on posting stuffs with value but none in the forum is looking at it they more lok on the questions about "if you have 1 btc what will you do?"
If no one noticing your posts, how you got those 2 merit points ? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=1263843

You cannot stop people from showing interests in topics they like. If you want to increase your chances of getting merits, you should actually post on those topics to get "noticed".

I rather post important and helpful things than keep posting and spamming the system with repeated post it's the best thing about merit system you need to work for rank but the disadvantage is most valuable post was unheard Smiley just thinking positive Smiley

If you think your valuable posts are unheard, you can ask for review from senior members here. I made a list of threads giving away merits for quality posts:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2832127.0

There are six members offering this currently and you can post there to get your posts "heard". All the best.

And, this my idea. Sorry if it is bad idea to share. Okay, so why dont we get Merit with small amount and it will increase for certain periods.
Example :

User ABC in Member Ranks have 10 Merit and need 90 Merit to achieve next-rank. Maybe every 2 weeks, when activity +14, their merit can rise +0.005, so your merit is 10.005 and next 2 weeks your merit will rise to 10.01.
Different case for higher ranks.
If you think, "woah, this is bad idea because people can get easy Merit. So they just keep their account until the Merit is enough". Oh, i must say that your account be ancient if do that way Grin.
Anyway, if you want to discuss this more is okay. Or, maybe you disagree with this, is Okay. Discussion is open. once again, sorry if i have make many mistake here Grin

It is hard to understand what you mean to say here but let me try. You are suggesting some merits to be added based on activity ? This defeats the purpose. The shit posters will post more garbage at faster rates to become eligible for these.
1711  Other / Meta / Re: How To Get Merit ? So Fast on: February 02, 2018, 01:17:54 PM
someone, can anyone teach / sharing about how to get merit quickly?
and is there anyone here to give me merit? haha just kidding Grin Grin
Merit system is actually like a reflection, if  you're giving it a good attitude it will help you to earn sMerit but if you're disrespect it , a negative trust is properly waiting for you.
I hope here you mean disrespecting by abusing the merit system (like buying and selling merits). If someone has a difference of opinion about the merit system and expresses it, I do not think anyone should have a issue with it.
1712  Other / Meta / Re: WHY COMPLAIN OF SHIT POSTING? on: February 02, 2018, 12:56:49 PM
The signature campaigns or maybe the managers are the first culprit because when requirement for post per week is placed high, what do you expect?

Some campaign require as much as 40 post per week to be eligible for payment while some have been running for months with 50/60 maximum post (per week) - I mean, even where you state 10/15 minimum and we will pay 60 maximum, it becomes a 'dog race without nor direction'.

They require you to make those number of posts, it does not mean that you can post anything you want to. Since you are being paid for all these posts (per post) or a fixed amount per week, you should not try to escape from the effort required to make some sense with those posts.

Edit: Also 60 is maximum, minimum is 15 for payment.
1713  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 02, 2018, 12:54:02 PM
I had to google "how to earn merit on bitcointalk" before i landed on this thread. It will be nice if this thread can be made obvious on the home page or any appropriate section. Imo, i think is too hard to earn merit, cos by nature of bitcointalk before i should have been promoted to 'Full member' by now.

Are you aware of the old rules even. Even without merit you need 120 activity to reach Full member. As per your profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=452587 it is currently showing 84.

You need to change this attitude. I remember someone gave a member negative trust for begging for merit. There is no easy or fast way to gain merits.  There is only one way  and it demands you to make quality posts here. You can see this page to check threads/replies getting most merits: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats
1715  Other / Meta / Re: ◆How much can you pay to 1 MERIT?◆ on: February 02, 2018, 10:52:24 AM
why? some of us trade here and value our accounts a lot more than the Pajeets would ever buy them for, you could offer me $10K for mine and I still would not take it. The ability to trade physicals with people I trust with No escrow and the Fact that the scumbag who wants to buy my account would try and rip them off.... That I would not do to my mates..

I know for a fact there are 100+ people on this forum who feel the same, so no not all "higher level accounts" will be sold.

Only if we have all the members thinking like you. Most of the people try to find shortcuts to make money instead of building some reputation and reaping long term benefits.
1716  Economy / Speculation / Re: The real problem of bitcoin price decline on: February 02, 2018, 06:30:41 AM
The real problem of bitcoin price decline is that more of 50% of cryptocurrency community are most of them ignorant and lazy people , they just follow rumors , they never get news from trusted source , never do research and this what create this panic Sales on the market and this bloody bath that you see right now , they heard about bad news from India so they start selling and never try to understand what was the news and  what is really going on , and did this affects on bitcoin or not , I am sick and tired of those kind of people .
If you don't believe in bitcoin just walk away , we don't need you in our community .

Actually, that bad news from Indian is not a bad news completely. It was misinterpreted by the media channels and then spread on social media. Actually, the Government made announcement like starting its own crypto coin. I think regarding regulating the coin, they will just remain silent on this and let it continue. You are right about the fact that people follow rumors. Most of these people sell in loss as well.
1717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty Payouts on: February 02, 2018, 06:27:53 AM
There is so much competition for bounty campaigns that it is hard to expect the bounty prices to rise. This is more relevant to lower ranks like member and full member. However, the task of campaign managers will become easier as they can set requirements like fixed number of earned merits in last few days. This will make selection easier for them.

A recent bounty campaign did gave higher payments for members with some merits earned.
1718  Other / Meta / Re: Review of Merit & other antispam filters used on Bitcointalk (& on other forums) on: February 02, 2018, 06:23:10 AM
Yes, the merit system is very clever. The only weak point I can see in this system is that some people would try to trade with it - I've already seen a thread here on Bitcoitalk from a user trying to sell it. Perhaps merit should be limited some way, like one person could only send a limited amount of merit points to another person? Or perhaps there has already been such a limitation already?

You are right about the fact that some people might trade with merit points or sell points. But these are getting caught (as they are giving merit points for spam posts) and being given negative trust by the senior members. With time people will realize that selling merit points is not worth it as an account with negative trust is almost useless.
1719  Other / Meta / Re: How to avoid useless posts ? on: February 02, 2018, 06:20:11 AM
One of the ways to do this to start using ignore function for users making such posts. But I think it is not practical. Many users might be making those posts just to complete the activity and may improve the quality in future. Using the ignore function on those users will mean that you will not be able to see those quality pots in future as well. May be the merit system helps in this regard, too soon to judge.
1720  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Shyness in gambling on: February 02, 2018, 06:16:15 AM
I think, this applies mainly to new players. With time, you will develop the confidence. A small tip if you are starting with Bitcoin gambling. Seeing the current prices, it makes sense to first learn with demo accounts and then proceed with real money games. All the best.
