1121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where can my friends buy bitcoins and other cryptos? on: May 14, 2018, 04:32:27 PM
They can try localbitcoin but take some precautions:

1) Always deal with trusted members there only like some with good reviews.

2) If you are dealing for a large amount, you should always use an Escrow service.
1122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Understanding Online Casino Bonuses on: May 14, 2018, 04:25:38 PM
What I like the most about the online casinos is the bonuses they offer. They offer bonuses up to 400%. This means for $25 deposited, you get $100 as a bonus. However, there are various hidden conditions and also there are some other types of bonuses. What is your opinion and experience related to online casino bonuses ?
1123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Online Gambling Versus Traditional Gambling on: May 14, 2018, 04:20:19 PM
What are the differences between online and traditional gambling ? Which you like the most and why ? In my opinion both the types of gambling have got their own advantages and disadvantages. You can try both for some time and then choose one based on your convenience.
1124  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much have you won/lost on bitcoin gambling ? on: May 14, 2018, 04:15:29 PM
To be honest, I can't remember how many bucks did I lose in trading because my last gamble happened years ago. I know most of us don't know too how much money did we give away in gambling. I think I lost approx. $1000 already. I feel regret in the end when I lost this large amount of money and didn't gamble again until now.

At least, you have evolved it from now. The people who introduced me to gambling are completely addicted to it. They are two brothers and they have completely exploited their life. One was married and he used to live away from his family as he could not support his family. Second brother used to do odd jobs to support expenses of both. Lats time I met them, they were still involved in gambling even when they have very limited earnings.
1125  Other / Meta / Re: 100 Days of Merit on: May 14, 2018, 03:54:34 PM
I am happy to see that newbies are also getting good number of merits. They need it the most. If I have to choose one post with equal weightage to merit, I will give it to newbie over an old member.

Regarding the merits for staffs, that figure appears very low. Does it include the merits they got on official thread like one related to merit system itself  ?

1127  Other / Meta / Re: Send merit to friend, is that allowed?? on: May 14, 2018, 03:44:57 PM
Who are 'friends' in the forum?
They are mostly main- and alt-accounts.  Roll Eyes
This is not compulsory, one can make friends through the forum as well. There are local bards here and you can find people from your country with similar interests. But with the current situation, my suggestion will be not to send merit to such a fiend here even if he had made an awesome post. Take this advice more seriously if you are a new member here with low rank like member or below.
1128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who do you think offers the best platform for Bitcoin Betting? on: May 14, 2018, 03:43:04 PM
actually so far I still rarely use bitcoin sites to gamble, but I will try one of them.
thank you

What are you doing here then ? Smiley

Op, the best platform depends on individual choice. I have seen people deciding free based on free tokens they give. Make sure that you do not judge a platform based on such factors. You should also check reviews about the bitcoin site before making any deposit.
1129  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: May 14, 2018, 03:40:13 PM
Merit system is a great idea, but what if people get lazy and dont want to assign merits.. after all if you cant demerit, why give out merits which later on can not be taken away even if you became more of a nuisance?   Are senior members required to assign merits?

Merit source is not some permanent post that once elected , you will have the privilege for years. If they do not assign merits or are inactive, their posts may be transferred to other active senior members. I will never doubt the intentions of admin of this forum though lack of time might be a problem for him while handling this.
1130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [IPL] Indian premier league picks on: May 14, 2018, 03:36:21 PM
So I have finally concluded that sports is not my cup of tea, and almost all my picks go right in the very opposite direction.

Lost a lot this IPL season, finally taking retirement from sports gambling.

Closing this thread.

From next time bet on that opposite side. Smiley

I have also not been able to follow much on this season due to my busy schedule. College time was fun when we used to have bets on almost all the matches even when we had no money. Smiley
1131  Other / Meta / Re: Must Acrivity and Merit fall over time? on: May 14, 2018, 03:35:19 PM
Nope, the current merit system is already great for me. Merit sources + additional merit sources will address this issue.
Ditto, I think the system needs time to do what it's going to do--shitposters are going to get sick of stagnating at Jr. Member, earning pennies for bounties because they can't earn enough merits to rank up.  Already the merit system has put the kabosh on account farmers easily ranking up dozens (or more) accounts just with activity and time, and that's a huge positive.

As I've said a million times, it's not supposed to be easy to earn merit and I don't think any tweaks are necessary that entail taking sMerits or whatever away from members who aren't active.  That would just add unneeded complexity and would, as mentioned, promote more frequent posting that would probably manifest itself as spam.

Those shit posts make browsing the forum difficult for other people. So , you cannot just let them keep making those shit posts. There should be some permanent solution to this problem as merit system has failed to solve this issue completely.

Most of the websites that give rankings based on points look for recently obtained points instead of total points. So this can be done here as well.
1132  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 14, 2018, 03:32:25 PM
the match looks like fixed without a doubt, they were cruising really well when chasing and suddenly loosing wickets and ends up chocking rather than getting the win

Lol,

When RCB loosing the matches  -  Match Fixed
When MI winning the matches  - Match Fixed

Grow up mate, you are raising questions on ABD & Virat Kohli, who got 1.76 Million USD and 2.72 Million USD respectively for this season, they already have enough money.

Personally, I has always wanted RCB to win IPL. They even got some exceptional players but I think there is lack of coordination among the players. You can always feel that if you watch their performance on the filed. Even with so many big names, they always disappoint me. Regarding matches being fixed, it has nothing to do with their current salary. Past culprits were also not beggars.
1133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why gambling is portrayed negatively almost everywhere? on: May 14, 2018, 03:30:19 PM
If you make a survey among the list of gamblers, you'll find almost 90% of them have list while the 10% have won the lost amount of the rest. This makes people portray gambling in the negative manner and the next this is the addiction. If one has entered into gambling activities, soon he won't come out even when he's experiencing continued loss which is completely due to the addiction.

This is a good observation. As long as a person is making good profit from gambling, he will speak good about it. But if he starts making loss, he will start criticizing the practice and gambling related websites.

This applies everywhere even with bitcoin investment. People who made good money  with crypto praised it among friends. When prices crashed from $20000 to half, they started calling it a bubble.
1134  Other / Meta / Re: F*#king merit system but we have to live with that… (poll added) on: May 14, 2018, 03:26:41 PM
this idea is good, but what will happen if someone will abuse the merit system, someone can give 50 merits some users are abusing the merit system https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2823221.0

If someone keeps repeating this on large scale. he might get noticed and then painted red by mods. But there are some other issue here which also need to be addressed like :

1) What about the merits lost in the whole process ? Those were meant for genuine posts from good users. Any compensation done for that ?

20 It was introduced to fight against spam. But still see a lot of spam going out in the forum.
1135  Other / Meta / Re: Increase The Bitcoin payment of newly registered accounts involve in Evil IP on: May 14, 2018, 03:23:00 PM
In my opinion, that option allowing someone to pay and then use the same IP (which was used for spamming) is completely flawed. There should be no such option allowed. It is like saying that we do not allow criminals to live in our city but if you give us some bribe, we will let you in.

There can be concerns here regarding somebody living at a place where the ISP provides same IP to multiple users. Those cases should be handled on individual basis and should be allowed without any payment.
1136  Economy / Economics / Re: Stock Market and Bitcoin on: May 13, 2018, 04:03:41 PM
The concepts from stock market are applicable for trading Bitcoin ? Or I have to study crypto market specifically?

In my opinion, crypto is easier in comparison to stocks. Those who are already doing in stocks can do wonders here. Most of the investment strategies are same, you have to buy when other are selling in panic. Again, you have to look at the history of the project in both cases before investing.

Return wise, we all know that crypto is 100 time better than stock market.
1137  Economy / Economics / Re: Portfolio on: May 13, 2018, 03:54:57 PM
How many cryptos should Ihave in my portfolio? Are there one recommended diversification ( like having 3 or 4 coins) ?

I do not like to invest in a number of coins because:

1) It consumes a lot of time and I have a full time job.

2) Most of the coins are dependent on the movement of bitcoins anyway.

My current portfolio has BTC, ETH, Ripple, Tron, Bitcoin Cash and EOS.
1138  Economy / Speculation / Re: Success of Bitcoin in April 18 on: May 13, 2018, 03:53:36 PM
In April, the bitcoin rate increased by 33%. This is the most successful month for the main crypto currency for the entire 2018 year.
How do you think  bitcoin will show higher growth in one month during 2018 or will April remain the most successful?

We will definitely see higher growth in the coming months. By the time we reach the end of this year, I expect this to go to  as much as 100% in some month most probably in November or December.

If you have some bitcoins lying in your wallet, you should remain invested for 2-3 years, it will easily reach $50000 mark in that much time.
1139  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best safest way to keep bitcoins. on: May 13, 2018, 03:49:20 PM
Here are some tips to keep your btc safe:

1) You should use an offline wallet with keys secured at some safe place. If you are investing huge amount, use multiple physical wallets.

2) You should also consider splitting your investments through different exchanges to remain safe.
1140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you want to increase the price of Bitcoin then promote it everywhere around u on: May 13, 2018, 03:43:32 PM
In my opinion, we need more of offline promotion now. Most of the people who are active online are already aware about bitcoins.

To promote bitcoins offline using print and digital media, we may consider collecting funds (if that can be arranged in transparent manner) as it will not be cheap.
