1321  Other / Meta / Re: Activity on: April 09, 2018, 12:45:18 PM
Hi,

I think my activity counter is frozen Sad It was increasing as well. For a very long while, it's always same.

Any idea please?

Regards.

Activity is updated every 14 days only. Next update in tomorrow and thus if you make a post tomorrow and  has made extra posts earlier, it will surely increase. You can see activity update dates here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12saLhlUoqIdairxzuSPu6EYGrt7FN2lOstO1yDjCEbA/edit#gid=1324892580

For how long, you are seeing this problem ?
1322  Other / Meta / Re: Are you ready for 2,000,000? on: April 09, 2018, 12:40:00 PM
Congrats Bitcointalk, this is a huge achievement. I hope we see it growing in future.

I checked the website here http://dev.martinlawrence.ca/bpip/ and it is mentioned there that if a user does not sign in for 90 days, account is deleted. Is this true even if I have good number of posts already ? It is deleted or deactivated.
1323  Other / Meta / Re: For Merit suggestion. on: April 09, 2018, 12:37:39 PM
For newcomers like me, it's hard to get merit. Everyone in my Local Boards uses the merit to sell money, so, as you can imagine. Merit has become commercial in nature and has no money no Merit.
So you can experience the despair of a newcomer to the next level.

I have some suggestions.

Maybe you can refer to some of the bounty threads. Each week's post has the word count and quantity requirements.. You can get a certain number of Merit if you meet the conditions. Weekly statistics and issuance.
Or any other way you can think of, but not totally dependent on anyone to get the Merit.

I think it will be fair, let merit not be out of reach. Everyone can get it through their own efforts,as long as you meet the requirements, conditions, rather than need 80% of luck and buy.

The above is my suggestion. Thank you very much for reading.
Best regards.

Getting merits appear difficult now in comparison the situation we had when merit system was launched. This might be because members had used most of their default merit points and we are dependent on merit sources only for merits. The number of new members is increasing at fast pace here and merit sources are not adjusted accordingly.
1324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will we stay positive on Bitcoin? on: April 08, 2018, 06:08:19 PM
Undersiege by negative articles for the past couple of months. Banned in different countries. Hated by some billionairs. Yet, i am one of the millions who still stay positive on bitcoin.. Western countries have been very positive on btc also. Try to spend time reading this https://www.ccn.com/retailer-adoption-of-bitcoin-is-growing-in-the-us-and-canada-despite-price-fall/. This might help you also boost confidence on btc behind the downfall of its price nowadays.

Let me know your insights on this..
Let me talk about the countries banning crypto recently:

1) In India, RBI has made a statement where banks are asked to stop all relations with bitcoin exchanges. Now this is kind of ban already and they are saying that crypto can harm the Indian economy. And then they want to launch their own crypto.

2) Pakistan followed after one day and made a similar announcement. There also people will buy and sell in cash now.
1325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is everyone just HODLing? on: April 08, 2018, 05:47:41 PM
Hi Forum
I would like to know what real value you think HODLing adds. What is the point of just holding bitcoin till moon and lambo ? This is cryptocurrency, why aren't we using this as currency? If we all just hold then this whole thing takes on a completely different business model, we lose all real value that it has as currency and it just becomes a full on speculative bubble.

Bitcoin and other currencies have no value if nobody uses them. So I would like to encourage everyone to spend and replace instead of just blindly holding. We won't see merchant adoption skyrocketing if nobody buys stuff with bitcoin. And yes I know it can go up in value, but why not just spend your BTC and EFT some fiat over to your local exchange and replace the BTC you spent ?
If any businesses accept BTC or other currencies it is our duty to support them extra for it and use cryptocurrency.

This is really a big problem and people are not understanding the depth of the situation. Even the developers wanted it to be used as a payment medium only. With time as the prices started to increase rapidly, people started to use it as in investment medium. I do not have a problem with people making money with bitcoins but this way it will not survive for long.
1326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantages of bitcoin on: April 08, 2018, 05:39:27 PM
5. limited supply of bitcoin and volatility

How is volatility of bitcoins a advantage ? Do you think that this volatility is the reason for sudden price rise as well and thus you are listing it as an adavatge.

I think that regular investors will be ready with reduced profits if this volatility is reduced. This will eliminate the surprise element from bitcoin investment.
1327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: felling depressed for holding bitcoin :/ on: April 08, 2018, 05:31:05 PM
i have 0.5 btc on my hand
but the problem is btc is falling day by day
its hits me in my heart like a spike
cs i buy this btc on 12000$
now im in loss of 5000$
it has fall onto 7000$
what shoud i do?
should i keep it???

Now that you are already in loss, just hold on it. Bitcoin prices will recover soon and it will touch the $12000 level soon. If you can wait for at least an year from now, you can even expect 2x returns as it will reach $24000 for sure in one year.
1328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways to promote Bitcoin on: April 08, 2018, 05:28:31 PM
social media is the best promotion to become more famous but i think facebook still didnt accept this but i seee alot of advertsement on youttube more related on bitcoin and cryptocurrency and investing so i can say that bitcoin has a real future in our economy and cryptocurreny or called altcoins is same like bitcoin it will become more famous soon.

Here is my opinion about this:

1) Facebook has just banned advertisements about crypto. They do not have restriction on users sharing information about bitcoin. In fact most of the promotion for bitcoins so far has been done by users only and that is all for free.

2) Bitcoin never had the need to get advertised on any social media platform.
1329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FRESH VISION OF BITCOIN on: April 08, 2018, 05:26:40 PM
New money is not a one-time thing.  New money is not just a paper. Old money closes soon, new money is already opened. Old money is stuck in the past, new money gets better and bigger every day.  Old money is a number of people, new money is all people. Move over old money there is a new money. The Bitcoin is new world money.

Old money is not going to close soon especially in developing countries. I really appreciate the way bitcoin has grown over the last few years and how it has changed the life of so many people using it. But I do not think that it is going to replace fiat currency completely all over the world.
1330  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can you verify if a bitcoin is real? on: April 08, 2018, 05:24:34 PM
Hi All,

First post so please be gentle!. I'm trying to get familiar with crypto currency and understand 'how it works'. I've reached a block and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a particular point.

I understand the process of using public and private keys, back from the time when Phil Zimmermann created PGP. PGP allowed a user to encrypt a file, eg: an email/file (technically, just a bunch of ones and zeros) so that when the other user decrypted the file, they would see the words/file again. Or, to phrase it another way, the encryption was just a 'wrapper' for the content - ie, the words in my email or the file I sent.

Now, if someone sent me a bitcoin, how would I know what I was looking at? With an encrypted email, once decrypted I would be able to see something (text/file) and realise that I had actually received something. But, if someone sent me a bitcoin, what would I be looking at when I decrypted with my private key? A file filled with ones and zeros? Or maybe a simple text file with words inside saying, "Hey, this is 1 bitcoin!"

Can someone shed some light on what it I actually receive when I purchase a bitcoin and how I can verify that what I have 'in my hands', is actually a bitcoin and not just a bunch of ones and zeros? I understand that the blockchain is supposed to verify what is what but, what if I wanted to pass my bitcoin directly to you without the blockchain. Again, how would I know, what I received - was a bitcoin?

Thank you for your time and patience with my lack of understanding!

Regards,

Staffs Lebowski..

Here are some ways to remain safe:

1) Buy bitcoins from reputed exchanges only. This will ensure that you get correct number of bitcoins for the amount you are paying.

2) Do not make offline deals with shady persons.

3) There are websites like blockchaininfo.com where you can trace all the transactions and details about any bitcoin address. You can see past transactions in a wallet to check the credibility.
1331  Other / Meta / Re: My 2 cents about actual MERIT system + Possible SOLUTION! on: April 02, 2018, 06:53:53 PM
Bad:
-If you're an account farmer with many account Full Member and higher level you can just boost your farm to a higher and higher and higher level. When everybody is just 'fighting' for a higher level of an account or in straight words they're staying on the same level even with activity requirement meet.
-If you're in a group of people that have got accounts Full Member and higher you can just help each other by giving out merit to each other.
-What I noticed is that people want to give merits accounts with a higher rank more that that with lower. That cutting the wings especially for new ones here on the forum. And why I understand people psychology, sorry but I can't understand when you see informative posts and only giving merits to that with higher ranks.

Some members are trying to report such abuse cases but I see that these days the action on such profiles is delayed. Also , one cannot be sure with merit abuse cases involving small number of merits. There should be strict monitoring for this for some days and action should be taken on time. This will set an example for other members so that they do not dare to repeat the same act.
1332  Other / Meta / Re: [April fools] New new rank requirements on: April 02, 2018, 06:50:28 PM
Could have been for better, though  Grin

Ya, next time you will be give the opportunity to arrange this.

I really appreciate the admin taking time to do the required coding for all those stats that were being displayed. It would be interesting to know how much time it took for him. Also, did any major blog covered it among the best online April fools by websites this year. I checked some lists and they only contained those who created videos to fool their users.
1333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins You Think will Grow on: April 02, 2018, 06:32:08 PM
As the industry changes day from day. our views as to what coins will grow in long term seem to change.
many thought XRG was it in December, then it was Tron, then people thought less

so anyways
your ideas of 5 good coins you think will grow for 2018?
Privacy and Alt Coins

I am still thinking NEO.
But I like to hear from everyone else. as new ideas help to research other coins.

more feed back the better.

NEO, Monero and Ripple can be good choice. Another coin with potential is Litecoin.

With Lee being more focused on making Litecoin more user centric, good times are ahead for this coin as it is backed by a good team and advisors.

“Let’s not let price distract us from what’s actually important,” he once said.

At the time of writing this, the following are its stats

•   Market capital:$ 6,634,976,844
•   1 LTC= $118.04
•   Maximum supply of coins:84,000,000 LTC.
1334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coins will be the best choice to add to crypto ATM? on: April 02, 2018, 06:31:01 PM
I think Litecoin can also be a good option currently. Litecoin was made as an improvement to Bitcoin providing fully decentralized, open source payment system.
It is fifth-largest cryptocurrency by market capital. After its founder Lee sold his shares of litecoin, the crypto currency saw a major dip in price, it has fairly picked up its speed and now showing steady performance.
1335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BEST ALTCOINS on: April 02, 2018, 06:29:19 PM
Why is Monero not listed in your list. With Monero’s ever popular increase in usage in criminal worlds due to its hidden features like addresses used in transaction and the amount of Monero being transferred. Monero ranks 13 in cryptocurrency market list with block generation speed of 1 minute using Cryptonote protocol.
1336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Potential coins on: April 02, 2018, 06:28:07 PM
What are your top 5 or even top 10 list of cheap and potential coins to share and why. I want to choose according to technology, usability and community. WHile the market is bleeding, I guess this is the best time to take action and get some of the coins while cheap.

You can invest in coins like Monero, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ripple and Neo. Let me give some facts about Neo where I have invested some money:

On December 25, the price of Neo was $59.94 and on 27th Jan 2018, the price has shot to $ $134.48. With this more that 100% percent increase in price this cryptocurrency is definitely to look for.

At the time of writing this, the following are its stats
•   Market capital: $ 3,161,723,500
•   1 NEO=$48
•   Maximum supply of coins:100,000,000 NEO.
1337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is NEO still worth investing in? on: April 02, 2018, 06:26:25 PM
Is NEO still worth investing in? I have my final $150 and I'm not sure if I should buy NEO or ADA

Neo has become China’s largest cryptocurrency, with its feature of writing “smart contracts” much like a software program that could allow transaction of money in a much faster and easier way.

“We want to be the place people go to when they want to do serious and reliable transactions” its founder said. It is much like Ethereum coin and sees a threat from its large market capital of $102 million.

However, the company has great vision in their mind and wants to introduce new technologies like saving of digital assets on blockchain itself.
1338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best innovative new altcoin I should buy? on: April 02, 2018, 06:25:51 PM
Hello,

I'm looking for recent innovative alt-coins that I want to make a large investment in.

-It has to have a unique innovation or feature of some sort.

-A good community is a plus but not required.

Tell me the coins in the comments!

Thanks.

Update:

I bought Ardor (seems to be ridiculously underpriced in this market), however still looking for more suggestions...

https://www.ardorplatform.org/

My first pick is Ripple . Ripple's sudden rise of about 7000% in a year surely caught eye of many investors. Its unique platform of not eliminating Banks and other central authority and also giving more power over money and has already been adopted by more than 100 banks.

At the time of writing this, the following are its stats

•   Market capital : $19,281,300,288
•   1 XRP= $0.57
•   Maximum supply of coins: 100,000,000,000 XRP.
1339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Top 2 altcoins to invest in NOW. on: April 02, 2018, 06:23:48 PM
With a lot of buzz around the rise of bitcoin in 2017, from $0.01 to $16,000 many investors started to look around at other altcoins and cryptocurrencies hoping for such a rise. A thorough understanding, research and wise decision is what you require before you make this important investment decision.
Monero and Ripple are top 2 most promising cryptocurrencies to look for in 2018.
1340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest to Ripple? on: April 02, 2018, 06:17:29 PM
Ripple is a shitcoin as they say, I've heard alot of negative comments about Ripple, they say ripple is a scam coin because it's centralized and majority of the holders are from banks. What do you think? Should I trust Ripple?

It is not a shitcoin and you can invest some money in Ripple. Little FAQ that will be helpful:

Is the transfer/payment of ripples reversible?
No. Once the ripples have been purchased or transferred, the operation is irreversible. So be careful and make sure you are dealing with a trusted person or store.

How to pay via your computer?
There are two possibilities to do that: through software installed on your computer, or through a website.

Do you have to pay taxes on ripple earnings?
Yes, as is the case for any currency or stock exchange.
Everyone is free to declare his earnings or to keep them for himself, according to his morals.
