1701  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Politicians behind the development of gambling platform on: April 27, 2023, 06:09:45 AM
I think the government needs rules to prohibit candidates from having franchises in gambling because they can get campaign funds from illegal activities easily. We will also never know whether his casino is really his business or will only be a place to collect their funds. So the government should make a law that does not allow candidates to own a gambling business, hold office in a company, and let the people vote for them. If the people like the candidate, they will vote for him because they already know the candidate's track record.
Legislation like this is usually not easy, but if it continues to be allowed it will be a bad thing to collect campaign funds from the proceeds of gambling places, even though maybe there it is something commonplace or legal, in my opinion this method is not good enough to be seen and emulated by the people there, let alone the people who have chosen to represent them to manage their government, obviously will not be good.

If the government is ruled by people like this, aka gambling owners, of course gambling will widen everywhere and of course it will be detrimental to the people of the country itself, as we know that being a gambler cannot always improve our existing economy if politicians are given the opportunity and he is a gambling owner, I'm sure it will have an impact on the country's economy later.
It depends on the government's attitude when it sees a problem with candidates owning a gambling business and using funds from that gambling business. But so far, that's what has happened in many places and the government also doesn't act decisively on it and it seems the government just ignores it.

If these regulations can be implemented properly, business owners who become candidates must be able to work for the people if people choose them and think about what is best for their people. So that they don't only think about accumulating wealth from their positions. I am worried that if the candidate is elected as a government person, the people will not get the welfare they promised during the campaign.

Not just in the Philippines, it happens in many countries. Almost all of those in the 3rd world countries are having these issues where politicians are involved in shady businesses. There is just nothing that can force politicians to comply with regulations or they may find ways to use someone's name to operate a shady business. In my country, the known drug dealers are the ones who lead the town. And people do nothing as they are powerful enough to kill radio critics in mid-day.
1702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I may sound really stupid right now, but it's what I noticed on: April 27, 2023, 02:42:50 AM

If for 2 cycles you have not dumped when the bull run is at its peak then you sure are hoping for a higher profit. You don't need negative news before dumping, you just need the charts.

But it's true though that it feels like the price is manipulated all the time thru the news and Gary Gensler and it's up to them, whoever they are, when the bull run starts, and when it ends regardless of the halving.
1703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I am only trying to stay safe by gambling less on: April 27, 2023, 02:24:53 AM

When your friends watch different news channels than yours, you will always have different views on things like Bitcoin investing. When news media represents Bitcoin as geek coins for casinos, they will believe it. And when Congress is having a hearing about cryptocurrency regulation, they all assume everyone is into gambling already.  Cheesy  All that means is that you can't convince anyone until they are using BTC and have made money out of it also.
1704  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing Addiction. on: April 27, 2023, 01:22:55 AM
Now talking about investing, I think it is possible to become addicted to investing so much that it begins to affect your wellbeing, like the person stops spending on other important things like good food, good clothes etc. just so they can have more money to invest? Do you consider that kind of addiction dangerous and not good?
It depends. Investing is always beneficial because it means you want to gain something to secure your future. However there should be a limit since anything beyond your control is obviously not good. Example, you're already spending the money that you can't afford to lose or you are investing in just anything even you don't have knowledge about it and you just want to take risk, certainly that's not right.

On the other side, if you're seeing a good result in your investment and you're not just blindly investing since you have knowledge of what you are getting into and aware of the risk then IMO it's fine. But learn to balance everything because there's always a disadvantage if you're investing too much.

It depends on this addiction to investing if it negatively affects the investor.
One investor is so addicted to investing that he massively put a ton of money into an altcoin that didn't rise up to his expectation and he lost the money in the end holding the tokens that weren't even listed to an exchange.

If he invests however in altcoins that rise up every time and profit every time, I guess that's not addiction.  Grin
1705  Economy / Speculation / Re: this pump is because of russia? on: April 26, 2023, 02:34:21 PM
The correction is over and now it's bouncing again as the continuation of this bull market. But Binance reopening the market to Russia must have contributed as well to this bounce. And then the EU having the first to have regulatory authority for crypto (MICA) must have helped the people in EU decide to invest in BTC.  $35K and a correction is expected again.
1706  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 26, 2023, 02:05:04 PM
I don't think it's need a rematch, Tank clearly beat Ryan Garcia by knocked down Garcia down for 2 times. Even Garcia will have a couple fight with other boxers, it's just a way to convince everyone if he's still able to fight, but I believe no big change will happen when he fight with Tank.

I agree with you - there's no need for a rematch because it was very clear how Tank Davis dominated the fight. Before the fight, Tank Davis was already listed as the heavy favorite, so a rematch doesn't make sense since people won't be interested in watching it. A rematch would only be interesting if Davis had been the one who lost the fight.

Time for us to move on as I'm sure Ryan Garcia has already move one since he accepted his defeat.

They may consider it if the fight ended with UD but sadly no. A rematch that is possible I think will be on the 140 if Ryan performs well on the 140 and then beat tough men above him including Taylor. And then Tank also has nowhere else to go and he decides to move to 140 as well. WBO will likely give Tank a fast lane to a belt fight. That will really bring back the buzz of the first fight and the trashtalk will be worse.
1707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any Bitcoiners here who are living offgrid? on: April 26, 2023, 01:55:18 PM
Living in a van and having the freedom to travel everywhere is tempting to do especially if you are single. But with kids like the Didi family, seem to be extreme to get the kids out of the town where they go to school and have friends.

If there is a certain level of being offgrid that I want to also do if ever I'm just single is to live in a boat. Ofc there will still be internet yet I can catch fish wherever I'd be.
1708  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Martingale strategy in casinos on: April 26, 2023, 03:07:30 AM
Martingale strategy is like trying to jump on water if you keep losing on losing until your finds are long gone. Not like I am denying its functionality. I would be very worried to follow that method with very limited funds. I sometimes feel like betting all your money at once on one game can be even better than martingale. You win all or you lose all. When you are doing martingale you ask for multiple losses which decreases your chance even further hahah. So risky.

Martingale is the still the most well known gambling strategy as it is pretty easy to understand also. I went to a buddy to a "real" casino last weekend and he was planning to start with martingale on roulette after we hit 2 black numbers. I talked him out of it but he was convinced that he would always make money. In the long end, that is true but you will need an unlimited bankroll. I tried martingale in the past before and already experienced 2 bad losses because of it, so I try to avoid it.
that only means one thing that your Buddy has a lots of funds inside His pocket to carry
Martingale strategy because if not then he will always go home with tears.
I have seen many of my friends experiment in this but ending always a loser because of their small Bankroll.
this game for me is only for rich or big time gambler
and not applicable to everyone of us.

I tried doing it with just the very minimum bet of $0.10 on dice using the martingale with a capital of $200. I did make progress until I run out of patience because it was taking so much time. I raise it to $0.25 and that's when I started having the losing streaks.

The casino looks like watching my activity and then losing it all. It could be that I'm too paranoid about it but yep never get a chance to withdraw until I lost it all. Even the casinos you think are rich enough are unforgiving. If you try to win, they will make you lose.

1709  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase vs SEC on: April 26, 2023, 02:52:27 AM
@Abiky. There was a case when the SEC sued someone but the judge made a decision that ruled against the SEC, citing that there was no clear regulatory structure to use as guidelines for the projects in the cryptospace. I have posted about it, however, it did not have the attention of the readers. I will find it and share it later.

In any case, news update. Coinbase sues the SEC heheheheheh.

Coinbase is suing the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The lawsuit follows on a petition for a rulemaking that the company filed with the SEC last summer, requesting the commission draft and approve a rule specific to digital assets. The lawsuit aims to force the agency to provide a yes or no to Coinbase's ask.

Since that request by Coinbase, the SEC has reopened custody and exchange rules to explicitly say that they apply to digital assets, but has not engaged in drafting a rule specific to digital assets.

Source https://www.theblock.co/post/228047/coinbase-sues-the-sec-for-answer-on-rule-specific-to-digital-assets

It's nice to see Coinbase step up to the game by suing the SEC. We can consider it the "Knight of Crypto/Blockchain tech" if it wins the case. This is only a battle that's just getting started. I'm glad to see there are some US politicians in favor of crypto. They're now holding SEC chairman Gary Gensler accountable for this actions.

With increasing pressure against the SEC, it's likely the crypto industry will emerge victorious in the long run. The US needs crypto now more than ever, especially when its enemies are embracing it for their own benefit. If the US rejects the revolution, it'll be left behind in the dust. Maybe someday the US will go as far as backing the US Dollar with Bitcoin? Just my thoughts Grin

When Gensler couldn't answer in the congressional hearing about ETH being security or not, Armstrong's lawyer may have seen that they have a huge chance of winning a case against SEC.

The coinbase lawsuit will likely make the government introduce the Digital Currency Monetary Authority (DCMA) to regulate crypto just as the MICA of Europe crypto regulation authority. Gensler will be out of the picture soon.
1710  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can i make 100 $ daily from online casinos on: April 26, 2023, 02:38:09 AM
It's possible to make this amount if you are a skilled player and if you are very lucky everyday. Relying on betting alone could earn you a hundred bucks, however, the probability will only be proportional on the skills, strategies, knowledge, and luck you have. If you aren't really skilled and you don't know much about the games, then the chance of you earning is relatively lower. After all, there isn't always a good day. Sometimes we encounter rainy days too. And during rainy days, most of the time it really pours, so we should always be prepared of the cons.

If you belong to referral program, you could earn much more. But this won't guarantee a fixed earning since there will be times that there will be little to none who will register using your link or code. But it could help you profit, though it will be a delayed gratification on your end. Just remember to always bet what you can only afford to lose and never risk the amount you have another allotment on to avoid regrets in the future if things don't go the way you expected.

It's encouraging to create an affiliate website with what you are saying. I once wanted to also create one of those review casino websites but then I will also spend money to play on those casinos to really test their services which I don't have much.

To be honest I have visited those websites but they didn't convince me to sign up for one casino because I tend to trust more on the users from forums. Maybe the regular people not from this forum do sign up that they get more than $100 a day.

If OP is willing to do this I think his $2k will be enough to create one review site but it's him that will personally promote it somewhere.
1711  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 25, 2023, 10:02:09 PM

No one is interested to fight Ngannou. I think Dana really stretch his arms to affect Francis's career to end. He hadn't done it  to Demetrious Johnson's career though.

Anyway, lost my lottery ticket again.  I gotta stop doing these.  Next event I just bet on the guys that I think are gonna win with good value.  Sad
I was one fight off from a few k. A Bellator fight let me down, though. Surprisingly had a good week in the UFC. The one week I add a Bellator fight on to my card, it ends up ruining a win. Anyway, next UFC event looks fairly spicy. I'm liking Simon in this headliner though, don't know about you.

One fight that you may just be interested in is Demetrious Johnson vs Adriano Moraes 3 in One Fight Night on May 5. This is going to be an action-packed fight. The 1 1st and 2nd fight was also cruel, if this is just in UFC, it will be highly promoted.

1712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin overshadowed by economic lie on: April 25, 2023, 08:13:46 PM

The old system always fights back before the adoption like the new technology such as TV or cards. Before the TV was widely used, the radio companies also resist. So far even when the bank and government were trying to suppress BTC, its price and adoption are gradually rise up and is adopted.

The crisis the world is experiencing I think helped the BTC adoption, including the inflation which the BTC narrative about it is proven to be the greatest hedge for the declining value of currencies.
1713  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Self-moderated]Bitcointalk Gambling Problem Support Group on: April 25, 2023, 02:25:54 AM
It's good to have support where users can have some talks and advice from fellow members. We all need one but I think it's good to have it on telegram or somewhere where users who have these gambling problems can't also see the signatures we have here.

I don't wanna sound like something that you will moderate soon but it's one thing that a user who wants to quit gambling needs to also avoid. The casino ads. If you are surrounded by it, it will be harder to resist.
1714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Little Bitcoin investment becoming something else on: April 25, 2023, 01:48:49 AM
There is no way for anyone to tell you for sure what you can do. The market is very bullish yet we are also weighing whether this dip is just a correction or a continuation of the bear market.

So if you are a short-term holder, you could have sold already even when it's down a bit already. You still profit a little but if this market suddenly shoots to $32K, you might blame the one who adviced you to sell.  Grin
1715  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: MMA Info and Predictions - Bellator, KSW, PFL, ONE... on: April 25, 2023, 01:41:33 AM

Demetrious Johnson VS Adriano Moraes III
This is gonna be a good tiebreaker fight for the two. The last fight was like an action movie where DJ really waited for Moraes to move back so he could throw his knees perfectly pressing Moraes to the fence.  DJ throwing Moraes up and lands on the ground in the armbar position for the 3rd fight will end the rival.
1716  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is hodling top 10 Marketcap coins a good tactic? on: April 25, 2023, 01:17:36 AM

Since OP's last update 24.10.2021, he lost an amount of his investment as all of these top 10 coins had dived down. It was the time of bull run but when the bears started the value was drained.

I think he should be investing during the time of the bear market or the time when he can assume the market had bottomed. Let's say Nov-Dec 2022, then he could have made profits. Or this week could still be a good time to start the 10 top coin investment journey. Then check out the value during the bull run after halving. The value should be something to brag about.

1717  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next Bitcoin Bull Run according to Simpsons! on: April 24, 2023, 09:35:33 PM
I know that after the last halving of 2020, the Bitcoin price increase did not really show a high surge in price, and the market was not really bullish after then. It took about seven months for the market to start showing green as the market had been battling to get to $20k, it was in December of that year that Bitcoin was able to get to $27k through out 2021 when the uptrend just kept going until it gave the new ATH toward the end of 2021. That's how I think it will be this time. The bull market may not really start after the halving, but it's not happening in 2026.

I guess the scarcity of BTC can be felt after several months when traders can see fewer sell orders but also sellers demanding high prices. The cycle of halving will always happen as BTC will always be bought by big investors from retail to institutional investors.

If the bull run will not happen, it's possible that CBDC is really working and people may not be interested anymore in crypto. And it's not gonna be good for all. I will still wait though.
1718  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Inflation may have driven me to this, bitcoin has the power to reverse it on: April 24, 2023, 08:33:55 PM
I don't know why people are correlating inflation with bitcoin. To make it and sound to them that and think that Bitcoin is the only super man to remove inflation in the international area is a wrong perception. I don't know whether they don't understand the conceptual and the fundamental meaning of bitcoin.

Bitcoin can even cause inflation in the world, yes because of the demand is high then price will also increase. Which goods and service wi also follow suit. You people should segregate inflation and Bitcoin whenever bitcoin discussion is mentioned .

It's been the narrative and it seems true also because of the limited BTC supply and the continuous rise of BTC since 2009. While all stocks and currency purchasing power is depreciating, BTC is keeping its value up. That should be a good side to look at.

A person at such an age still trying to learn new kinds of assets is quite not what boomers do.
It's like he hasn't heard of Buffet or Schiff so I'm wondering who introduced him to BTC.
1719  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: April 24, 2023, 08:10:05 PM
Damn, I predicted a KO in round 9, so close...

Well, I think Ryan Garcia look drained, he is not 100% conditioned on the fight.  You can see it on Ryan Garcia's face.  Tank Davis just got the better of Ryan Garcia because he fought a not 100% Ryan Garcia, he would possibly have a hard time beating the guy if Garcia is 100% rehydrated.
Dehydration is a problem, but it won't make much difference in the result anyway IMO, the level gap is too big. Tank is in his prime and a highly skilled powerful Southpaw boxer... He's unbeatable at this weight class.

Ry should've sharpened his skill more and become a more mature boxer before facing an opponent like Tank.

It's common for the losing side to find excuses but ye sure he could have dehydrated to achieve the weight as it's also a common thing to do not just in boxing. So he isn't 100% healthy while fighting but that wouldn't be Tank's fault, after all, Ryan also landed good shots.

The recent update was indeed he will be moving to 140 which is a more challenging division because of the more skilled men up there. Ryan is exposed and this could lead to another loss for him.

1720  Economy / Economics / Re: Concers About Going in Business with a Friend on: April 24, 2023, 07:29:51 PM
On the other hand, there are many success stories of friends who went into business together and succeeded to together. If you have ever gone into business with a friend, what were your biggest concerns and how did work through it.

I'd be concerned about my friend's financial status. If he has a stable income and is responsibly taking care of his family.
Success stories are likely to be friends who have the kind of personality that is really trustworthy and the two give importance to the relationship.

They wouldn't be friends if they don't know each other's behavior. Friends have the same colors and feathers that's what they say but if from the beginning you already know this friend of yours will likely cheat, then it's not worth partnering a business with him.
