1721  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC linux/windows 2.6.4 on: August 14, 2012, 06:56:50 AM
Is it possible to disable bitforce devices in the same way you can disable GPU devices? I like to run two instances of cgminer so my gpus and singles are seperated by worker. I am able to get around things by running cgminer with gpus disabled first then runing cgminer with nothing disabled. My second instance shows all of the singles as off, which is fine, but I would rather them be removed from the list.

Ah, yes, thanks!

Cards $300 each shipped but I'd hate to see this thing split up.
1724  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can't get 8 gpu working under ubuntu on: August 13, 2012, 03:52:46 AM
I went ahead and installed the 64bit version of xubuntu, everything is working fine now.
1725  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 8 gpu cgminer/bfgminer linux error on: August 13, 2012, 01:39:22 AM
I spent a bit of time getting phoenix miner setup today and phoenix can only access 1 gpu. Since phoenix worked fine in linuxcoin I'm thinking it has something to do with the sdk perhaps? Or maybe the architecture, do I need a 64bit distro? I thought linuxcoin was 32bit...

This would take approximately 4 months to pay off at current BTC rate
Yeh, it's paid itself off a couple times for me. I really want to play around with litecoin mining but I can't seem to get all 4 running under xubuntu 12.04 with cgminer and bfgminer.
1727  Economy / Computer hardware / [SOLD] 2.8 gh Mining Rig (Minecart 3.0) 4x 5970 Updated 150 BTC on: August 12, 2012, 03:55:30 PM
Sold to CoinHoarder
I now have a box big enough to ship it, although it will be expensive.  150 BTC shipped. Still willing to trade for 2 singles plus ~$150 for shipping.

1728  Bitcoin / Mining support / Can't get 8 gpu working under ubuntu on: August 12, 2012, 05:07:45 AM
Reviving an old issue as I'm experiencing it now. Added a 4th 5970 and get the same error with cgminer and bfgminer. Is this a cgminer or linux limitation? I'm running xubuntu 12.04, 11.11 catalyst drivers and 2.5 sdk. I had 8 gpus working in linuxcoin with phoenix miner and no issues. Any way around this?

Original post by DeathByTaxes:

So I am trying to get 4x5970 working under Linux.

Aticonfig shows 8 GPUs but cgminer bombs out.
Code:
* 0.S 17:00.0 ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series
  1. 16:00.0 ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series
  2. 13:00.0 ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series

  6. 07:00.0 ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series
  7. 06:00.0 ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series

* - Default adapter

cgminer -n
Code:

X Error of failed request:  BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request:  140 (ATIFGLEXTENSION)
Minor opcode of failed request:  67 ()
  Value in failed request:  0x17
Serial number of failed request:  21
Current serial number in output stream:  21
cgminer -D -T (w/ config file) has same error.

Unplugging PCIe power cables for one 5970 (6 active GPUs) works.

Has this been resolved? I'm having the same issue. Works fine with 6 gpus but not 8. I had 8 gpus running fine under linuxcoin for 6 months with phoenix miner. I've decided to upgrade to xubuntu 12.04 and I'd prefer not to go back to phoenix miner.
1730  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner modular FPGA/GPU overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC Linux/Windows 2.5.0 on: August 09, 2012, 05:51:58 AM
For some reason when I use 2.4.4 and save out the configuration file. When I restart it comes up with fatal JSON error.

And I have to enter all my pools again.

Phil

I am also getting this error.  Has this issue been fixed.  Thanks.

Yes, that was fixed in 2.5.2

Still an issue for me. I'm using the latest 2.6.3 windows build with a mixture of gpus and singles (perhaps that's the issue?). Using a batch script to set all options now and avoiding the cfg file.

I wonder why the specs of this laptop are different, the same picture.

Last week there was a string of really good luck.  And now... not so good.  It'll likely all even out in the end.

One sure way to increase the luck is to switch to PPS or switch to a different pool.  As soon as you switch, the pool will start to get lucky again.  Smiley

This is pretty horrible luck if you ask me. Exchange rate over $10 and I've had hardly anything to sell over the past few days. I just started mining on EMC this week so I've yet to see a string of good luck.
1734  Other / Off-topic / Re: How To: Fix Rattling Fan Noise on BFL Single on: July 31, 2012, 03:27:47 AM
I had to do the same with mine. My rig already had a nylon washer between each the front 2 spacers. I added 4 all together and the fan is no longer hitting the case. I suppose I could have just bent the case out a bit to accomplish the same thing. One thing to note, any more than 2 nylon washers and you will probably not be able to get the USB and power jack lined up.

I actually met Pirate back in October 2011. I purchased a 5970 from him for $240 when they were selling for $400 to $450 in the forums. He lives a few miles away so we met up at a local gas station for the trade. We didn't talk much but he mentioned he had 7970s coming at the end of the month, which I thought was weird since they weren't coming out until January. I only found out recently that he started BS&T a month later so I'm assuming he was selling stuff cheap to build a quick rep. He didn't seem like the Bernie Madoff type..

With that said, I'm not sure what to think about his operation. He's been paying high interest rates since November, so if it's a pure ponzi, he has to be adding large amounts of investors each week. I had a few coins in PPTs that I took out today. I'd prefer to watch things unfold from the sidelines.
