1741  Economy / Economics / Re: US National Debt / Deficit - How does it end? on: September 25, 2014, 08:57:34 AM
Quote
- Assess the range of potential dangers to the US, along with benefits of US influence, and scale military spending appropriately, or let it grow more slowly with time.
Unfortunately scaling back the military kills huge numbers of jobs.

Scaling back the military kills huge numbers of unproductive jobs. If you put those people to work doing productive things instead, everybody will be better off.
Both military and defense industry related jobs are actually incredibly productive. The weapons that are created by defense related companies are able to save thousands (if not millions) of lives and can do incredible damage to our enemies. These weapons also can deter others from even thinking about attacking us.

Also economic studies told us that for every bucks US Govt put in Defense spending they got more than 1 buck growth in the US GDP. Only food stamps do better!  Grin
1742  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is Paypal accepting Bitcoin a good thing? on: September 25, 2014, 08:52:36 AM
I really want to know, whats so good about PP accepting BTC? Paypal make money from fees charged by handling payments (20p + 3.5% last time I checked), Bitcoin barely has any fees whatsoever (0.0001 I get charged for a transaction) so what's PP gaining from accepting it and anyway, Coinbase seems to work fine for businesses wanting to accept BTC without problem so what will make business switch to or start using PP? The only good thing I've thought about is that Ebay might be adopting the currency meaning better presence for BTC. Any other advantages for PP?  Grin

We dont need Paypal from a purely pragmatic point of view. But we need them for mass adoption. It's basically a big advertisement, the perfect one actually.

Actually Paypal endorsed DOGE & LTC coins as well.  Wink They don't want to put their bucks only in the Bitcoin basket.
Maybe it's time to start doing arbitrage trading between BTCs, DOGEs & LTCs...  Grin Cool

When will the USA pay their debts, if ever?

http://www.usdebtclock.org/

A country owning a reserve currency is not in a dire straits need to repay it's debts like HIPC (High Indebted Poor Country) countries. Maybe if China become too hostile...things could change a bit.
1744  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Marines were sent on eve of Scottish referendum on: September 25, 2014, 05:38:25 AM
This is not entirely surprising. I would not have been surprised if there was rioting in Scottland if they had voted for independence. I believe there would also have been economic chaos if there had been a 'yes' vote

You really think US Marines would do Law Enforcement on British Isles in such event? LOL. Too much political fallout.
By the while...Scottish people will get the best of two worlds with the actual referendum results: a lot of gains without exceptional economic pain.

An article about nothing. What a shame for Washington Post!

Per quanto mi riguarda, dopo BTC c'è solo Litecoin.

Io tifo anche per i DOGE!  Wink
1747  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Subdivisions of Scotland on: September 24, 2014, 04:54:11 PM
I'm not sure you're aware, but Scotland has its own laws as it is now, they do not follow the same laws as the rest of the UK, they have an independent legal system and have done for hundreds of years.

I know how works a Common Law legal system..but what i tried to say was that in event of a secession they needed to keep in place some of the current regulation till new bills & acts came forward. I think of EU regulation kept in force while an Independent Scotland is not more a EU member (or part of a Member state).

1752  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people hate islam? on: September 24, 2014, 01:26:58 PM
I am here to just say one thing? Why do YOU hate islam? and you should really give a valid reason not a shitty one that says 'Because media'
and Yes, I am a muslim for those who ask, just tell me, come out of your shell and say why you HATE it, and I could be here to clarify things to you.
Also here is something that most people mistake about islam is that "Islam hates other religions" for this I say, Islam does not hate ANY religion, but it suggests to 'invite' them to islam, as slowly, and peacefully, even if they refuse, you can try and try, until it's their choice, you stop. and for all the wars that happened, it's because the other religions decided to come into war on Islam.

If you need anything clarified, I am here to answer you, don't be scared, I won't be offended by anyone, also haters, you can reply, I won't care Wink

I don't hate any religion...so I don't hate islam. Possibly a lot of misunderstandings came from the meanings of Jihad. If have to hate someone, this should be reserved to the ones who forcibly impose their will/way-of-life/opinion on others.

OK. i know that this means a lot of people to rant about...possibly even inside my own family.   Grin

This is some fuckin stupid shit lol

I think dailymail story put together truth & lies. Surely the Brits don't like to educate their foes about HM SIGINT&COMINT capabilities. However the use of SIGINT/COMINT tactical platform is not unheard in our world. I know the US states' Air National Guard/National Guard put their Guardrail aircrafts at work (jointly with LE Agencies) to hunt CONUS-based terrorists.

Royal Air Force jets were deployed from Scotland to intercept Russian military 'Bear' aircraft that were flying too close to the airspace it guards.

Aircraft based at RAF Lossiemouth, based in Moray, were sent to identify the aircraft - Tu-95 Russian Bear H bombers - that were spotted in international airspace.

Business as usual. RAF & other NATO countries' AFs are doing this type of intercept year-round since last decade (since the beginning of the Russian resurgence).  Wink

Smiley
