I should remind you that the thread is about TheDAO attack and its effect to the crypto-world. It is obvious that Bitcoin is the king so there is no need to spam.

And we are back at $750.
Guess you were too busy following the forums and call the people names. Bitcoin was dumped to $712 on BTC-e and it is now $733 on average with continuing declining...

I don't think it's funny, it's savvy. A coder found an exploit and took advantage of it. Let's stop this good samaritan bullshit, if you had 3M ether you would travel, do anything you wanted really. You wouldn't have an aristocratic sense to return it, lol.
I would return them... I would return them too. That is because you n00bs don't understand that when you break Nash equilibrium, then you destroy your block chain forever: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1515550.msg15292630#msg15292630Noobs? I guess that your 1000s of quotes makes you a better person. Keep up the good work, Mr. IKnowEverything.

Now that's something interesting. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) "MEP offers Nigel Farage €1 million bet on UK referendum. If Farage accepts and the Leave campaign wins, Antanas Guoga will donate €1 million to the charity of Farage’s choice, and vice versa if Remain wins. Antanas Guoga, a Lithuanian MEP better known as the former poker champion “Tony G,” challenged Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage to a €1 million bet Monday on the outcome of the U.K.’s EU referendum. Guoga, a multi-millionaire from his poker-playing days and his subsequent online poker empire, has seized on a recent Farage stunt of betting £1,000 on Brexit, and is upping the stakes a thousand-fold. In a letter to Farage offering the bet, provided to POLITICO, Guoga wrote: “I am so confident that the British people will do the right thing and vote to remain in the EU that I offer a €1 million charity bet to you on Leave! Current betting odds have Remain ahead of the Leave campaign, while opinion polls put the campaigns in a dead heat. Guoga said he is a “huge advocate for EU reform.” In the letter, Guoga wrote: “Don’t leave Europe to Germany and France. That would be a pity for markets, businesses, researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs and creators worldwide. Also, I wouldn’t like Putin to raise a toast to Brexit,” adding that “I think that the biggest winner in Britain leaving the EU would be Russia and I don’t feel safe about it observing what is happening in Europe.” Source: http://www.politico.eu/article/nigel-farage-e1-million-bet-on-uk-referendum-brexit-antanas-guoga/

Wasn't VIA crowdsale price like 6k satoshi and then went up to like 71k?
The price went up for about a month. Consider that a successful project do you? ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fs32.postimg.org%2F6flk013sl%2FScreenshot_from_2016_06_20_22_50_27.png&t=662&c=r1--jAlnoFVd0A) I consider this as not a hyped project. The original investors got the chance to get out with profit. I have also lost significant amount of money on VIA (didn't participated in the crowdsale, but I did mined it with 420 MH, which was a big deal back in the days), because I have sold my portion pretty late, but I'm not blaming btcdrak for this. It was my decision. Currently VIA is more secured than most of the coins, it is fast and there was much more development than plenty of others and... it works. Personally I think that if someone wants VIA to succeed, then he/she can offer his help. Otherwise... just leave it to others. There is something else, which worth mentioning. btcdrak could have disappear just like that, but he didn't... He is here and obviously he will continue to develop the coin. So what is that you really want?

then tell me please about these communities. i would like to join one of them. because sometimes it is really annoying to see all the trading topics here. or maybe i am just reading the wrong subs.
It may sound like advertisement, and here is not the place (thread) to talk about that, but I am part of a team/community with 12 people from 10 different countries. I have them all on Facebook, Telegram and Twitter, and I can vouch for any of them. It took us more than 2 years, but it is possible.

EDIT: We must first build a better community in order to have a better "crypto-world". So stop with the hate at least in such circumstances...
This will never happen. you can't build a better community with greedy people. e.g. almost everything here (btctalk) is about making profit.
It is extremely hard, but it's possible. Believe me, I know...

I believe that there are a lot of "ordinary" people from the masses, which bought ETH and DAO at a higher prices. These people deserve our sympathy, because its bad in general to laugh on the other's misfortune....

So attacker is scared of the hard fork.
I have the feeling that the attacker could sue them for this. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) He just got the coins by using the code and if they make a hard fork it would be like stealing the funds. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Who can he sue? The miners will be the people doing the forks, they are around the world. Can he sue them in every country? I believe that Ethereum should pay for that mistake, because they gathered hundreds of millions from the masses and now they want people to solve their problem. I don't think it's funny, it's savvy. A coder found an exploit and took advantage of it. Let's stop this good samaritan bullshit, if you had 3M ether you would travel, do anything you wanted really. I would return them... You are a good one ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I'm Christian, and they might have gotten some of them back. Not all. A lesson needs to be learned here, by everyone involved in this DAO business. It's simple... I could not live with myself and I believe that sooner or later people pay for their actions.

How much has been stolen vs. the marketcap of eth? Is it really enough to crash the market? And wouldn't dumping all the stolen loot on the market in a short time span seem like the worst possible idea to a thief who is hoping for a maximum return on his efforts?
Exactly 3,641,694.2418985067 ether were "stolen" and they are still sitting in this address. The amount in fiat was roughly $78.3 million (because the price of ETH back then was $21.50), not $50Mn like most of the people are saying.

... and Ethereum is going to less than $10 as we speak.
All of you people constantly spamming your Eth propaganda were trying to scam others into buying it, and now you're mad you're losing money by knowingly participating in a scam and trying to force that scam onto others? Are you blind? The reason I launched this topic is because I do care about the people. Personally I have never bought a single ETH or DAO. Make some researches before start to blame for no reason. P.S. It seems that the "attacker" is offering 2000% gains: http://pastebin.com/9MRVDC9h

I'm not sure why people keep posting new threads to make fun with The DAO, Ethereum and Vitalik Buterin. We saw videos, memes and everything, but the truth is that personally this failure makes me angry. 11 days ago, I have launched a topic where I have shared my concerns on what may happen, but what really happened is even worse. The Ethereum Foundation gathered over $270 million (ETH + DAO crowdsales = the price of both before the "attack"), but allowed this to happen. I'm not really blaming anyone for this, but come on, $270 MILLION for "something" with such omission in the code?! What about people who invested and those who bought at the peak? I'm sure that there are few more millions of $ lost in tradings. What can ETH Foundation say to these people? "We're sorry", "Stay strong"?! I believe that Vitalik and company should reach to an agreement with the "attacker", take some of the "stolen" funds back, and pay the rest out of their pockets! You have to take some responsibility, though nobody is insured from mistakes, but ETH Foundation are the ones who gave 270 million promises to people.

listing Fail on to yobit exchange is good decision imho ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) They want to be paid and we want to play fair. I did asked them couple of times, but with no result. I also want to see this coin on Yobit,Yobit is a good source of investors and would also to see how failcoin will perform on Yobit flatform, and beside compare to other trading flatform they seldom delist a coin,if coin wth small reputation can easily enter why not fail who's been here for quite some time.. For now I just hope that alcurEX and EmpoEX will keep our pairs. alcurEX is developing very good and currently it has more than 2000 BTC weekly volume. I did asked both of the exchanges to give us more time, but none of them answered. halibit (the owner of alcurEX) told me that he decided not to list FAIL on his new exchange (it is now alcurex.com, not *org), but I have send him another message on which I don't have answer yet.
