For some time  burst price  located at the bottom, What are the odds to return to 70 satoshi level?(I bought the that level)

Burst is truly at a crossroads in the next couple of weeks/months, that all depends on the community on how it should evolve to survive and grow.

I like your quote" I want more innovation! think b4 u dev a coin!" 90% of devs need to be like that....lol

Hey Taek, you ever consider doing a cross project/platform with Burstcoin/PoC?
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] First Ethereum fork. GUI wallet. No ICO/IPO. PoW, Bountys. Bittrex. on: September 10, 2015, 08:56:51 AM

Right, so what happened when I bought ETH at 0.02 and sold at 0.09? Didn't feel like a futile action to me..

Cool  Wow!  You are the next contestant on the Price is Right!

ETH never went to 0.09... stop the BS!   Maybe 0.008 for a brief moment...

From an economic stand point, the people that invested in the IPO/ICO at $0.30 an ETH are the big winners from a profit aspect.

I don't remember ETH going above .0075.

I never quoted ETH as a currency. ETH will always be ETH, no clone can take that away from them and they pioneer the way for clones to make their own ideals separate from ETH.

Everything in crypto is speculated, even BTC. It's the underlying tech of crypto which are the most important parts, may it be blockchains, smart contracts/DAPPS, DAO, PoC, etc....

pioneer the way for clones to make their own ideals separate from ETH.  Totally agree!  It is the main purpose of clone to forward new ideas!

What are the new ideas brought forward by Shift?     To be announced!   We have great plans!    Ok.

Everything in cryptos is mostly wait and see. If you have a complaint about it, then do something about it. Maybe create your own coin, algo, etc..... Criticism, debate and arguing is fine, but make it constructive and progressive.....
184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] First Ethereum fork. GUI wallet. No ICO/IPO. PoW, Bountys. Bittrex. on: September 10, 2015, 08:10:55 AM
Putting all economics and politics to the side, do you support the coin you wish to invest/mine in? That's the main question, people mined BTC and LTC at a lose for a year or so until they realize the fruits of their labor.

Ethereum is a platform for smart contract - not a currency.  Cloning Ethereum is futile.

Ethereum has mechanisms in place to remove the volatility of the ETH vs GAS.  GAS is required to run contracts, not ETH. By adjusting the GAS price vs ETH price, ETH price remains stable.   Therefore, speculating on ETH is futile.

The main reason I want to stick with Burst was the possibility to use data storage on the plots, the ideal of it and being able to mine still. I know Storj was once interested in doing something with Burst, but the dev seem not to follow up on it. Since Storj is in beta of their latest tech, would be nice to see Burst or some kind of PoC coin do a project with Siacoin before they explode.

this doesnt look like secure investment

whats a secure investment to you m8? bot, exclusive coin, mapcoin, and negativity?

Reality check, nothing is a secure investment. Stock, shares, bonds, mutual funds, savings account, etc....None are secure, if minimal at most.....
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] First Ethereum fork. GUI wallet. No ICO/IPO. PoW, Bountys. Bittrex. on: September 10, 2015, 07:52:52 AM

That's all and dandy, but your not accounting for market volume and prices per bid and asking prices base on volume. None of the network hashrate is ever stable, there is spikes and dips also or the time per block. You have to account for variances and a tolerance of sort on mining, solo or pool.
It is only a snapshot in time.

-"Not accounting for market volume":  3 BTC per day doesn't usually count a reliable market volume
-"Network Hashrate":  Network hashrate has been very stable in relation to market price - hovering between 7 GH to 15
-"there is spikes and dips also or the time per block": correct. This is due to the slow (very slow) difficulty adjustment of Ethereum code (oops sorry Shift!)...  It went from 15 sec per blocks, to 30 sec per blocks over the last week.
-"variances and a tolerance of sort on mining, solo or pool":  20 blocks snapshots at pools usually gives a very good approximation of the current state of a network.

Putting all economics and politics to the side, do you support the coin you wish to invest/mine in? That's the main question, people mined BTC and LTC at a lose for a year or so until they realize the fruits of their labor.

HD 7970/R9 280x, HD 7990 and R9 295x2 are the best hash power per watt per unit for ETH mining.
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] First Ethereum fork. GUI wallet. No ICO/IPO. PoW, Bountys. Bittrex. on: September 10, 2015, 07:39:34 AM
Without proper tools, I am just trying to get the math sorted out:

From shift.suprnova.cc:

Found 20 blocks over 57 = 35% of the network
Suprnova.cc reported hash rate = 2 GH/s
Therefore, network hash is about = 2 /0.35 = 5.7 GH/s
Difficulty = 53.8

57 blocks found over 20 minutes = 20 * 60 / 57 = 21 sec per block = 3 blocks per min =  4300 blocks per day = 13k shf per day

If I have a 50 MH/s rig, I would be 50 / 5 700 = 0.88 % of the network, and get 0.88% of the rewards = 0.0088 * 13k = 114 shf per day.

114 shf * 0,00015 BTC/shf = 0.017 BTC per day.

Now, same math with Ethereum:

50 / 350 000 * 0.0051 BTC/Eth * 5000 blocks/day * 5 eth/block = 0.018 BTC per day * $237/BTC = $4.30

Miners are smart!  Mining Ethereum or Shift is equivalent at the moment!

Next math problem... how much did you spend on electricity for mining those ETH or SHF?

That's all and dandy, but your not accounting for market volume and prices per bid and asking prices base on volume. None of the network hashrate is ever stable, there is spikes and dips also or the time per block. You have to account for variances and a tolerance of sort on mining, solo or pool.

Same with electricity costs, that's not linear either. Different companies charge different rates and/or have tier pricing. Some people get free electricity (legally) depending on the situation.

Anyone have a link to a miner for AMD cards, and a guide about how to mine with a pool/solo?

http://cryptomining-blog.com/5344-quick-guide-on-solo-gpu-mining-ethereum-on-windows/

I think this guide is really good.

That is a good guide, but beware to use the latest geth and ethminer, otherwise you might fork, if you mining ETH. Only thing that will work for EXP is the ethminer and the GUI wallet, you will need the geth CLI/Daemon for EXP.

Latest ETH wallet: https://github.com/ethereum/go-ethereum/releases/tag/v1.1.2
Latest OpenCL miner: http://cryptomining-blog.com/5612-updated-ethminer-0-9-41-opencl-and-cuda-for-windows/
Simple GUI wallet: http://www.etherwall.com/
Note of GUI wallet, you must run the geth CLI/Daemon wallet to make it work.

I'm sorry but how should I fix my pool to hash a Dagger coin with Scrypt rigs ?! You'd either have to run and mine on a multipool, or you'd have to rework ETH/SHIFT to allow Scrypt mining too, which surely won't happen ...

I'm not sure if you understand that there are coins with different Hashalgos... You have DASH for example with X11.. You cannot mine DASH with Scrypt Rigs, unlike Litecoin, which you CAN mine with Scrypt, but you cannot mine Litecoin with X11 Rigs etc..

It's like with cars.. You cannot fill Diesel fuel into a Gasoline Driven car... But you also cannot tell Mercedes to "fix their car" when you filled Diesel in a Gasoline car...

I don't really care about the technical details there mate, just make sure your pools work in the future.

@SpeedDemon13: Thanks, really appreciate it!

Don't forget to add this in the ethminer bat files:
    For OpenCL: --cl-global-work 16384
    For CUDA: --cuda-grid-size 8192 --cuda-block-size 128 --cuda-turbo

I gained about 1 to 2 MHS per HD 7970, 3x HD 7970 did 68 MHS before I add the OpenCL string. Now I'm doing 72 MHS with the 3 cards.

SpeedDemon13 thanks for the OpenCL string tip! I gained some addtional speed! Smiley

Gunther...OCminer pools are one of the better pools in crypto world, the problem is in you that you mined with the wrong algo...  Roll Eyes

Your very welcomed....Always nice to help the crypto community in general.....Every little hash power increase is worth it in the long run...lol

LOL. This guy aint no coder. Embarrassing.

You must have worked really hard Franko. hah. One of your 4 other coins.

Sure, you've created a coin yourself....Trolling with a new account, that's genius...Not...lol

My pools DO work - they ALWAYS work - but they will never work if you are hashing with the wrong algo ...

Not always work, mostly work and nearly always....lol......Every pool owner has had a couple issues then and now.....But your pools are one of the best in cryptos...Less down times and you've reimburse miners when you didn't need too....

Will the test launch mine real coins on the 10th? I want in from block 1.

No. Test net coins do not carry over into the main launch. Please see the FAQ at the end of the ANN.

Sometimes I think people don't read ANN completely. One thing to skim whitepapers, but a simple one page on ANN is a simple read.

I got 0.27 shift from 24h of mining or something, so don't you talk about taking a loss. I'm sick and tired of this coin.

Dev, I believe in you, you can do it. I just don't believe in the price. I dumped everything (Yeah, the megadump to 8k was me) so i'm really megarekt right now. Don't know how I will survive this loss, had so much faith in it.

And to the guys laughing at me: you're a bunch of assholes. Laughing at other people's misery  Cry

And ocminer: please fix your pool the next time so we can all have a shot with our normal rigs...

I was solo mining SHF yesterday and got like 60 coins with 3x HD 7970/280x, so one card does about 5 to 7 blocks in my scenario. Unless you are mining with a weak GCN card or AMD APU or weak Nvidia card and/or just have the setup poorly done, you should be getting a decent number of blocks.

Here a guide that I made a while back that I think simplify the process a bit: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1155284.msg12306597#msg12306597
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: September 09, 2015, 09:06:25 AM
Let's compare:

Expanse, 11,000,000 premine with 1,100,000 million available immediately. Block target 1 minute and 8 EXP block reward. 4,207,680 EXP mined per year. Time to match premine = 2 years, 7 1/2 months

Ethereum, 72,000,000 premine to prerelease investors, devs, contributors, and their foundation. Block target 15 seconds and 5 Ether block reward. 10,519,200 Ether mined (and staked in future) per year. Time to match premine = 6 years 10 months

Shift, 250,000 premine. Block target 12 seconds (in theory, its first post says average blocktime is higher) and 3 SHF block reward. 7,889,400 (theoretical) mined (or staked in future) per year. Time to match premine = 12 days.

you right

at the same time "shift didn`t turn out to be a good project because of greedy dev, but this looks great"  and 12 days and more than 2 year.
someone do not like math Smiley

This project has 3 real people putting their identities behind this one. I think it will work out well. SHF is most likely going to do really well also. I wouldnt want to miss either of them.

If I had to pick... I would guess this one will do better.

I agree with you a think the shf dev is but greedy, but this one looks very good.

First we have to see all the ETH clones stabilize first before we can make a final judgment on them. But if say within 3 to 6 months, nothing improves than you can exit investments...

Should we talk about the price? Many miners have made alot of profit on Shift so far. And when they dump constantly since the beginning you are wondering why the price is low? Many mnay people have had profits EXCEPT the Shift team.. there is zero profit. And you talk about greed? How are we greedy? Fartbags is changeing opinion about shift everytime he buys and sells.. and now you want us to do better so that you can earn more money? We have a different view.. we dont sell.. we want to build something good with shift.

This will be the last message in a while since we will get back working on shift.. coding. Do not have the time to answer this stuff.

I didn't dump any of the coins I mined. But I do have to pay this wondering PG&E rate in the state of California, I say that in a sarcastic way. lol

I don't mind mining SHF, cryptos are a hobby for me, but I have to at least pay the electric bill and what ever left I can hold as an investment....
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] First Ethereum fork. GUI wallet. No ICO/IPO. PoW, Bountys. Bittrex. on: September 09, 2015, 08:33:15 AM
Ding ding
Suprnova is offline  Undecided

time to solo mine Smiley
Back online..

But IMHO, Solo is really better for Shift

I'm solo mining with SHF. I get like 30 coins a day now with each GPU card. That would make the price of these coins 0.00073333 BTC each. This coin is under valued. I better buy some more.

Ewww, price isn't that great. I leave for the day and it's 1/3 the value.....Hope this recovers, lucky I switch back to ETH mining in the morning...Had a feeling something with the price was going to get affected....
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: September 09, 2015, 12:58:41 AM

Sometimes I'll be mining 2 to 4 days straight with no issue, then all of a sudden the DAGs don't work and I need to regenerate them.

Also, if a pool(s) are eventually created, could make sure they implement stratum instead of getwork. I guess the miner could get forked to do stratum mining also.

The DAG file is completely regenerated with entirely different contents every 30000 blocks (~100 hours). It needs to be generated (and takes time to do so) each 30,000 block cycle. DAG's can however be pre-generated, avoiding the need for the delay in generating one between each 30,000 block epoch. It seems there are a few comments/concerns related to DAG files, optimized configuration, space issues related to them, etc, So I will try to write a lengthier post explaining them, how they are used, and how to configure your environment to help clear up everyone's understanding.

That would be nice to know how to pre-regenerate them and relocate them to another drive to be read, especially people running ssds.

I know you can change gexp's datadrive but not ethash's, I suppose a workaround would be to create a dir on another drive, than link it to ~/.ethash

So, create a soft link on the dir?
