181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Friends engaging on P2P gambling insights grudges amongst themselves on: March 23, 2024, 02:51:47 PM
There is this online game that we have been playing for a decade now and we sometimes gamble with each other for fun.

Most of the time, we just goof around and just test each other's skills. We never argued on who's the best or who's the worst. We bet to make things spicier and for us to have fun. If your friends hold grudges against you for winning against them, then perhaps they're not your friends and they're adding more emphasis to the money they may gain for you and not the camaraderie you've built over time.

If these are the type of people I will be hanging with, I'd rather be alone and gamble against randoms online. At least, they can hold their end of the stick.
182  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto remaining anonymous is good for Bitcoin! on: March 22, 2024, 11:58:40 PM
Satoshi knows that if there is one central figure in bitcoin, it would not flourish and might be seen as something similar to other currencies out there. He wanted the project to continue as he envisioned and it's what's happening now. If he's still around, he will also be attacked by different governments and would possibly be held prisoner for different crimes he didn't commit. I'd say Satoshi's decision to remain truly anonymous is what makes bitcoin great. Imagine its creator sticking up to what his visions are, and not trying to profit off of his creation and just wanted give people what they should really have by giving the power of 'keeping value' to them directly.
183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How old would you be by 2140? on: March 22, 2024, 11:23:43 PM
I'd be close to 170 by then. Hell, I don't think I could live long enough to see 80 not unless if I have tons of money. I started relatively early compared to a lot of people here, and I still continue to put something in bitcoin whenever I have something extra. I would love to teach my niece and nephews about cryptocurrencies as early as now. Hopefully they carry on with doing this and make some fortune of their own. And also, hopefully, the world is still sane enough to not go into huge wars to ensure our tech only moves forward and cryptocurrencies like bitcoin still exist.
184  Local / Pilipinas / Re:Crypto Taxation on: March 22, 2024, 09:55:22 PM

185  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Feelings on losing the match and the bet on: March 22, 2024, 08:35:21 PM
Some people here will have some huge trouble detaching from a lot of things.

I may support one team due to their abilities or personalities, but I will never invest too much emotion in them as I know they will not do the same to me. Also, losing a bet on a team I support is normal. We all lose, be it betting for your favorites or not. You will simply get over it, and there's no use glossing over the fact since you will eventually forget the loss, move on, and bet again.

People should really learn to give little to no emotional connection with trivial things such as this in order for them to live be more rational or logical on their decisions. I'm not saying that it's bad, but it affects things a lot.
186  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: March 22, 2024, 04:42:08 PM
Team Spirit can't win a game in Dota 2 anymore! This patch really ruined their entire hero pool and I feel that some players might leave this team until summer or even earlier. Miposhka already said that if his team won't perform well in Q1 he will personally take a break from Dota2 pro scene. Today they lost again against Navi with a quick 2-0 and their dream to catch DreamLeague S23 is on the edge.

Just watched the replays and it's very awful on the side of Team Spirit. They were so good in the first few minutes of game 1 but eventually fell off when Malady and Yuragi started making moves. Larl obviously cannot carry the whole team, and Yatoro is mostly caught at the wrong place and at the wrong time. I wouldn't really feel motivated to play if this happens continuously. Just imagine being decimated by a new roster against your team that's been playing for months.

Hopefully they bounce back, but I'm pretty sure they're demoralized and demotivated at best.
187  Economy / Economics / Re: Ignore Financial accountability to your detriment on: March 21, 2024, 11:35:04 PM
Financial accountability is something that not everyone gets until it's late. Not everyone is serious enough to do their finances responsibly, and would rather leave things as is rather than fixing it. I have a few friends who became addicted to loan apps in order to buy luxury goods. They were managing it for the first few months, but eventually weren't able to pay off their debts and have gone into hiding from debt collectors.

Many people are getting blinded by the easy money offered by loan apps, but they don't have the guts to face the repercussions of their actions. These companies are luring the masses to make financial mistakes and profit off of the tears of these people.
188  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your worst nightmare in a casino? on: March 21, 2024, 10:43:33 PM
I can forego jackpots in casinos, but what I don't want to happen is knowing that my personal information submitted for KYCs in casinos are sold to someone else, and I'm framed for something I didn't do just because of that sold info. You can never really know nowadays, and these information are sold on the daily because they also profit from it aside from the profit they're taking from their gamblers.

Imagine law enforcements knocking on your door for something you didn't know about. You'll be sweating bullets and wouldn't probably know what to do. Even if you won't be charged anything, you will be getting anxious every day knowing that you're on a watchlist somewhere.
189  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streamer's fan took his own life due to addiction on: March 20, 2024, 11:57:16 PM
There are streamers who are constantly reminding people that they should not gamble especially if they don't have the financial capacity to do so. There are also streamers out there who market their sponsors like there's no tomorrow, leading to other people believing that they can also get the same luck. Unfortunately, the decision still lies to those viewers and can make the necessary steps to avoid spiraling into debt or other financial problems caused by gambling. It's a very tragic story, but we as gamblers should always take this to our minds that streamers are mostly paid to do these types of promotion online, and that they have this safety net that not everyone of us have.
190  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Nakapagtake profit ba ang lahat? on: March 20, 2024, 10:59:15 PM

191  Economy / Economics / Re: The Prices of Labour. on: March 20, 2024, 05:27:15 PM
Sometimes it's based on the negotiations between the professor and the educational institution that they are in.

Professors are paid based on their experience, domain, and how they haggle. There isn't a fixed rule through which their salaries are based on. Also, the cars these professionals drive are not reflective of their salaries. Sometimes, you see a millionaire driving a beat down 20-year old car just because of its value to them, and there are times you see someone who's not earning much but is driving a brand new car.

There's also the effect of networking and connections. It helps influence salary ranges if you know a certain someone in an organization and this person vouches for you positively.
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: March 17, 2024, 11:49:28 PM
Tyson now uses medicinal marihuana which will for sure affect his stamina and allegedly the Tyson's training footage was for Roy Jones fight, filmed years ago. The fight was in 2020.
IMO if the fight really happens Tyson will not win. It's not the same man we're talking about.

Should this fight continue, my money is still on Tyson. Jake can be as technical as he can be and use all defensive techniques against Tyson, but let us not forget that Tyson never expended his stamina on useless moves even during his prime so stamina will not be an issue here. One wrong move from Jake Paul and he will meet his maker courtesy of Tyson's hands. Age really slows people down, but experience also comes with it, and I think Mike's still got the raw power and moves, and that may be all he ever need for this bout
193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon Compares Bitcoin to Smoking on: March 17, 2024, 11:20:29 PM
Dimon is a banker, of course he'll say everything against bitcoin to promote his bank's services to the masses. Except that his banks are also participating in bitcoin's bull run. His bank is continuously expanding their team focused solely on cryptocurrencies, so what does it tells us?

He also made a statement that he'll "defend your right to buy bitcoin" even though he won't hold it.

From all the negative statements he released against bitcoin, none of them really made a huge impact. Sure, there were times when bitcoin is experiencing a bearish market, but where do we stand right now compared to the previous ATH in the past?

One man's derogatory remarks in bitcoin won't matter, even if he's the CEO of one of the largest banks in the world. Jamie Dimon is, at this point, trying to get all the attention he can get for god-knows-what purpose.
194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake and Bruno Mars An Example of How Gambling Addiction Can Affect Anyone on: March 17, 2024, 10:33:13 PM
These guys have all the money in the world, yet they decided to blow it on gambling. Perhaps that's what rich folks differ from us: they have nothing better to do with their money hence they try to multiply it the easy way. They can always shoulder the losses since they have multiple streams of income coming in to their wallets.

As for Bruno Mars, I believe he can easily bounce back this debt. Just a few world tours and he's off his feet again. The question is, does he have the inspiration to write songs/music again to make money from? If he's that much into gambling, I'm pretty sure he's going through something and gambling is the only outlet he can tap into.

Whatever the case is, $50m debt for gambling is no joke. He's got some serious problems, and hopefully the people around him comes to his aid before worse comes to worst.
195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever done something crazy to bet? on: March 17, 2024, 09:42:01 PM
Mine is nothing crazy. We also used to play simple betting games in school. There's this one time in high school wherein our teacher in Physics is discussing something in front, and we were at the back playing simple dice games betting some coins here and there. We were like that for a good 30 minutes, only to find out that one of the head teachers was behind our backs and are just observing us. We were sent to the guidance counselor's office and got our parents called because of that incident Cheesy Fun times, but ever since then I put some distance between me and gambling, and haven't touched it again until I'm working after college.
196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Blackrock control BTC? on: March 17, 2024, 07:07:38 PM
Huge guys like Blacrock and Microstrategy will always have the means to control bitcoin's pricing but not its network. Also, it will be foolish of them to do so. Just imagine manipulating something that makes you money and the whole world seeing your actions? See how everyone lose trust and the value plummets. These institutions know that such actions will lead to distrust and loss of confidence from the masses. They will be left with paperweight the moment people know that they are cheating bitcoin. Price manipulation may pass, and people might just stop trading until the dust settles, but direct network manipulation? That's burning your own assets in hopes of making more.
197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Online Crypto-Gambling Legal in a Country Without Gambling Laws? on: March 17, 2024, 03:45:45 PM
If the country doesn't have a defined law regarding gambling but is historically known for not that welcoming with it, better not meddle with the said activity and just obey the 'silent' rule. Saudi Arabia is an Islamic country with strict following on the Sharia law, and we all know that it forbids gambling as it's not haram. So, even if Saudi doesn't have an official law regarding gambling, since most of their legal system is based on Sharia, it automatically puts gambling as a forbidden activity in the country.

As for other countries that doesn't have any legal standing on gambling, I'm pretty sure it's okay unless you deal with huge amounts. If I were you, I will not touch gambling unless there's clear laws stating that it is an allowed activity in the country. Better be safe than sorry, I guess.
198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 U.S. Presidential Election Bets! on: March 17, 2024, 12:22:23 PM
A lot of people are forgetting that Trump has a lot of pending cases in the US. Plus the fact that not a lot of Republicans are still that impressed of him. Even so, the huge guys in the Senate and House of Representatives are still fully supportive of the yellow guy and will do everything to make sure that their pet gets into the scene and run for presidency. I'm not comfortable with Biden taking the second term, much more Trump leading the helm of this nation again, but if I were given the choice to choose between the two, I'd take Biden and hope that Kamala takes the lead should Biden 'gets sick' due to his age.

Something interesting came up. While Haley didn't have a particularly good run in the primaries, it seems as though more of her supporters (who are registered republicans) will be interested to vote for Biden other than Trump.
If we conclude that these supporters would get away from the party line and vote for a democratic candidate over Trump, then if Biden is alive by then (lol) it kinda shows that people might be underestimating his chances to win.

I get that there are many people very passionate about Trump but even among Republican circles he's been very divisive. Quite a few people like Mike Pence too, or any of the other candidates that appeared in the primaries, and we saw that they had quite a few select words for Trump. So it'll be interesting to see if these displeased voters would be enough to sway the vote towards Biden.

Ahh, 3 million people is NOT ENOUGH to sway the election. Remember Hillary Clinton running against this guy and winning the popular votes yet losing the electorals? That can still pretty much happen so I'm not really confident about Haley's supporters.
199  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Naranasan Nyo Na Ba Na Masisi Dahil Sa Cryptocurrency on: March 17, 2024, 11:43:03 AM

200  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Stay off any missed opportunity on: March 16, 2024, 09:40:37 PM
In short, do not buy during bull runs and accumulate when no one is interested in buying. This is highly applicable in established coins, not so much on coins that have appeared recently. Bitcoin, ETH, and other such coins will always have a huge market no matter the market conditions are. People will always trade them so you can accumulate when it's at its lowest and receiving lots of negative news everywhere. It's a simple concept but worth keeping into mind if you want to save yourself from huge losses.
