181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CRW] CROWN (SHA256) | Core Updates | Thrones | Merge Mining on: February 27, 2017, 06:00:01 PM
I'm just starting to work with Hypermist to resolve the problem I found with our official block explorer a few months ago.

I couldn't work out how to handle burn transactions.

Hopefully we'll have a nice fully featured block explorer up and running in a few days.

This is awesome.

I remember the problem being the genesis block and or another issue around block 400,000 was it?

The only problem relating to the Genesis block that I have found is that I keep forgetting to update my scripts with the correct value which messes up the indexing process!

A problem between the chair and the keyboard rather than a chain issue.

Ahh that's it, thanks for clearing that up.

Seem's as though I need to step my post's as to stop such scrutiny of every single word.

304 Trons active so far. Next step: 500 Trons

chmod 444 crown/crown.conf - I get the warning 'crown/crown.conf' no such file or directory

Can you try chmod 444 .crown/crown.conf

Instead?

Hi.  I worked out my loss (took a while to work out how many coins I mined) and decided to ask for 50% compensation from the dev fund. I decided upon 50% because I already benefit from the fact I was protecting my own investment.  I received my compensation in the form of 8,933 CRW.

Ahhh, I must have gotten forgotten in the madness Wink

Infernoman! (or whoever deals with the payout). If you want to just send to the pools payout address for mergemining.com that would be fine with me as it'll get distributed to the miners automagically.

Great new looking website guys! Looking forward to see the new wallet up and running.

Just to let you know. Last week I have met guys from trezor - Stick and I´m going to meet him again on Monday to finalize some business deal.
But what is more importnant with their latest wallet release they have added support for Dash and Zcash.
https://blog.trezor.io/multi-currency-support-bitcoin-dash-and-zcash-in-trezor-wallet-7377d812112a#.dokql189z
What is great for eventual Crown support in trezor and their webwallet! is that what we need only is working insight fork https://insight.bitpay.com/ which is used at the trezor web wallet backend to process transactions.

I´m able to personally contribute towards this because Crown as a application platform and upcoming Trezor V2 could play very well together.
https://blog.trezor.io/trezor-security-beyond-bitcoin-c99f27b18b6b#.y8yqjno1x . Just for example simple notary - time stamping service using Trezor and crown blockchain would be cool service.

Also today I´ve been reached by guy from slushpool who is currently running the pool for Slush and was helping him with some bitcoin stuff.
It may be surprising with my reputation here, but it is true:-) So if there will be any need to push Crown into Trezor or Sluspool just let me know. With 5PH/s is almost sure crown will be added but if there will be any need of any support just let me know.

I´m still waiting for the logos and code to finalize the tasks I have mentioned before - wallet-generator, bitsquare .

Hey bigmo, updates where a success.. Any progress on the above?

Have we got a set date or block for superblocks?

The block reward reduction should occur in the next few days. After the network stabilizes a bit more, We'll be working on turning back on throne enforcement, as well as enabling superblocks.

So the reward on the ANN page will no longer be valid? What will be the new block reward and how is it distributed along miner and thrones?

miners / thrones / budget : 4.5 / 4.5 / 1

Thanks, so the ANN is actually reflecting the new rewards already

That's correct. Enforcement and superblocks will come this week and match the spec in the OP.

Don't know who folks are using for throne set-up....

OVH is great, but the network seems to have plenty of exposure there.

Aruba (www.arubacloud.com) has several data centers (Czech, Italy, France, Germany, etc) and also has cloud servers priced at 1 euro a month right now.

Tiktalik (tiktalik.com) is a polish cloud provider that has servers for 10 PLN.

Openvz.io has some reasonably priced VM/Containers available across a range of geographies.  This takes you to iniz.com, which is SYN Ltd in the UK... but it's reasonably priced.

Ultimately, there are good arguments for Crown to have:
1. A guide or list of cloud service providers, where you can either set up your own thrones/trons or whom you can contract with to operate the throne/tron servers.
2. A preference for cloud service providers who operate within a single legal jurisdiction
- the complicated thing about crypto-currencies and the platforms of services which they could support isn't so much the technology, as how different regulatory and legal systems will deal with the capabilities of these systems.  Since different countries will react differently, it is probably easier to know that when you have a server in a country you are subject to the legal system of that country -- rather than dealing with the issues of a corporate parent in one country with one set of laws and regulators and a server somewhere else.

#2 isn't an issue yet -- but just worth thinking about as folks set up their throne servers and as the team thinks about the next steps for the platform... so applying the logic from point #2 to the list of VPS providers above, Tiktalik is the only one which has it's servers and legal organization in one jurisdiction - and this is the sort of profile of a VPS provider that is probably a better long-term host for throne/tron servers than the multi-national businesses with complex multi-jurisdictional regulatory and legal issues...

Would be curious what other VPS/Cloud providers folks might recommend with a similar profile?

thx.

I like the sounds of a kind of spreadsheet showing,

Which company - Cost - Host Country - Accept BTC? - Accept Paypal? - ect - ect

Could you get the ball rolling on this? I will add to the list myself and try to get others to do so..

If any miners would like to advertise their pool in the OP I just need a logo and pool url.

Alright guys, looking for some electrum pro's here maybe even the auxcoin pro's Wink We're trying to setup electrumx, and getting stuck right around the time auxpow was implemented. it appears that electrumx uses the nonce to decode the block headers. Which after auxpow was implemented defaulted to zero? And the coinbase was altered to be shorter.

domob helped us to implement auxpow so maybe he has an idea?  Wink

Think we've got the issue sorted Wink it looks to be an electrumx issue, since it tries to parse part of the block header. Which for auxcoins is invalid. Jeremy Rand from namecoin was going to be working on a port of electrum-server and client. So i figured it would be best to work with another familiar community so more than one community can benefit from the end result. He won't be available for a few weeks, but I look forward to working with him on the project and learning what I can.

Looking forword to see what happens, I guess the android wallet will only be released once the electrumx server is working with Crown?

I still haven't had much luck in setting up a throne, I can't quite pinpoint why this is the case. I'm using ubuntu 16.10 and following the guide exactly. when I type throne list in debug console it shows up as enabled. However, when I type ./crown-cli getinfo in putty, it shows a 0 balance. looking through the block explorer it shows the throne has exactly 10000 crw associated with it.

If the throne is showing up in the list and crown-cli throne status shows the node is running just be patient, the rewards will come into your controller wallet with the 10000 coins in it.

How long would this take? I waited hours then typed ./crown-cli getinfo and it still shows a 0 balance. It shows up initially in the list then disappears after a period of time, I can only assume because it boots the node because it doesn't see 10000 crw attributed to it.

If your using the .10 guide from the OP, it tells you to set up hot and cold wallets.
The hot wallet(VPS) never has coins in it, the cold wallet (windows) is where your coins are stored.
Keep entering the start command.

I've knocked up more spacific guides for Ubuntu 16.10 and 16.04.
If you would like to create an OS spacific guide using the ones below as a template, we can arrange a bounty.

Is the Throne guide currently up to date with the correct folder names/file paths? Everything is fine until I get to adding "./autogen.sh && ./configure  && sudo make install -j 2"  and I get "./autogen.sh: 9:   .autogen.sh: autoreconf: not found"

Yeh sorry about that. The guide was built using Ubuntu 16.04. If you have the choice id use that version.

I've just updated to the latest version (120061) and verified I'm on the correct chain.  But when I try to do a "throne start", I get:

Not capable throne: Could not connect to 51.254.131.226:9340

I verified that I can actually telnet to this IP and port (besides I've not changed anything on the server except for updating the client).  What is the issue here?

Is the throne.conf stored in the folder crown or crowncoin?
