Just noticed this huge reward...

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/crw/tx.dws?defc6d95805940a7f61b1451cefa07532fe1b96939759455b1654d648f124b7d.htm

I noticed it when my client was syncing.. 14 Crw reward for my Throne and 21 to the miner...
Can anyone explain this?

Hello!!!

The smallest denomination of 1 CRW should be :

- CrownPenny ( pCRW or CRWp ) ,

- CrownCent   (cCRW or CRWc ).

I know, I'm a genius.. Cheesy

I think the denominations have been decided on already  Sad

Nice suggestions though Tongue

Hey guys just letting everyone know where I'm at currently. I'm working on getting the build platform from bitcoin 0.13 implemented. The reason I'm doing that is for ease of use. Rather than having to build and test the clients on each individual OS. After I'm done all we'll have to do is test them. ARM, LINUX, OSX, and WINDOWS will be automatically built and from there released to Github. I've made good progress over the past day and am nearing completion of this.

I'm looking forward to the future of Crown, small additions like travis are game changers for development.

Also looking forward to discussing the first proposal on where the governance funds should be spent, any ideas anyone?

White Paper
Summary

StoneHedge - urban_idler - Crown Team
January, 2016

In a series of 6 whitepapers, Crown outlines plans for a decentralised and incentivised application platform that will diverge from current Blockchain technology in a unique and revolutionary way.

The final product will be an open and decentralised application platform providing a cryptographically secure method for anybody with the inclination to harness the benefits of the next generation of Blockchain**.
**We will repeat blockchain over and over again like a chant, although what we really mean is the use of a tarball of software innovations which include secure hashing, a public key infrastructure, peer to peer networking, encryption/decryption, distributed databases, distributed consensus protocols, cloud computing, open source, git -- you get the idea.

Every social or business phenomena is marked by a transaction of some kind. Herein lies the key to truly diverse real world blockchain applications.

The Crown project challenges the current Blockchain paradigm, and instead envisions an alternative approach to attaining the holy grail of Blockchain.  The holy grail is product of great usefulness that achieves long term and wide spread adoption by providing valuable services and network security through a cryptographically secure and environmentally sustainable method.

The Crown team draws on people from diverse backgrounds who share a desire to innovate and a sense that the Blockchain Industry is not innovating enough to convince the world that it is better to work with Blockchain than without.  The wave of corporate investment has brought attention – but it has ironically slowed, rather than accelerated the development of trustless platforms.

There is a collective belief within the Crown team that Blockchain technology current sits in a position similar to the internet in the 1990s; with great potential but missing the innovations required to make it truly useful.  As we learn from the continuing evolution of the Internet, these innovations come in incremental steps.
Whether this particular project succeeds, or fails -- our goal is for Crown to bring innovation back to the Blockchain.

The Crown Papers briefly introduce what the team is thinking and our goals for the project.  An outline of the papers follows:

Crown Paper 1.0Governance
In this paper the Crown team provides a brief background to the project and introduces governance concepts and outlines how the project will interact with both the technology and the community.

Crown Paper 2.0Introduction & Features
In this paper the Crown team introduces the key entities that will form Crown and the design principles that will be used along the development process.

Crown Paper 3.0Applications
In this paper the Crown team describes the vision for how applications will fit into Crown and how the platform will allow those applications will be enabled to operate as a business entity.

Crown Paper 4.0 - Combinations & Permutations
In this paper the Crown team explains what makes the project unique and details some of the proposed use models for the platform.

Crown Paper 5.0 - Symbols, Skyhooks & Survival
In this paper the Crown team muses about what it will take for the project to survive in the current ecosystem and the importance of a shared imagination.

Crown Paper 6.0Sharing & Open Teams
In this paper the Crown team contextualises the relationship between economic, social and technological change and what this means for technology such as Blockchain. This paper also describes the evolution of the Crown team and project and its immediate aims for the future.

Decentralisation is the key ingredient for crypto, and I actually agree that a patronage funding mode for experimental work is in some ways better than an investment based one. Both are still based on an exchange taking place, but with patronage both parties remain free to widen their definition of success to include much more than ROI, whereas with investments both parties are locked in to expectations of financial return only, so true creativity is stifled. You can clearly see this in art, modern music labels and film studios tend to be investment based, and results suffer, a guy investing 10M USD in a movie these days will go for a bog standard high budget super hero bl8ckbuster because it's almost certain to make a profit, but the end product is usually not great art that stretches the boundaries, whereas a good explanation for the quality of Renaissance art is the funding was heavily biased towards patronage. For crypto I think we're seeing the results of 2 years of the investment model at work, and there's been a load of crappy ico's launched that have the cutting edge qualities of Spiderman 5, or Iron Man 6, so while many might make a return, they're not likely to crack the big problems, like how to scale networks without waste using incentive structures that maintain true decentralisation.

Thank you, this is the most reasonable comment I have seen in this thread this whole week.

So far, from what I can see, the development done on SpreadWallet is comprised of two primary factors: UI/UX, and consolidating common services built on RPC wallet commands into one application.

Now, this is cool, but the wallet shows nothing that indicates any work on the protocol, blockchain, or network level itself. We basically have a fancy multi-wallet at this point. I'm not saying that is crap, and it DOES look super nice, but a lot of the discussion in the history of the coin has been about innovative ideas leveraging the blockchain, and systems built on top of it, to do something new/exciting/supportive of crypto as a whole.

Is there anything being developed that does not fall under the category of UI/UX and consolidating already-developed APIs into one spot? I mean, it's probably the coolest wallet in crypto if you get it released - but none of the big picture discussions ever really focused on such a thing, nor do they require it. It's already clear that you're going to do your own thing, you don't owe us anything etc - so I'm mostly just seeing if you'll indulge my inquiry - is there work being done on a deeper level, beyond UI/UX?

Yes I know there are constant debates and discussions about the big picture ideas, I'm asking about tangible development, not just walls of text theorizing. Is there any evidence to show you're not fully and completely focusing on just making a super cool multi-wallet?

I vote this comment the best this week, second place sitonmythrone Tongue
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: January 26, 2017, 12:51:08 AM
I'm skeptical of the idea, on the surface it sounds like destined to self-implode with imbalanced incentive models, but - I also read about Bitcoin in 2009 and thought it was a gimmick or just a neat experimental idea - I didn't see the big picture nor truly understand the potential.

So I'm open to his idea despite initially finding it odd -- I just at this point am starting to wonder if he has the development knowledge to put the ideas discussed into a real implementation. I'm starting to think that he's a front-end guy and not exactly up front about his limitations, thinking he can learn as he goes, so I'm curious if there's any real work beyond UI and pre-existing services using pre-existing APIs. People can learn on the job, but is he working at it? Is there anything that's not front-end being actively developed/tested?

I'm afraid it's fairly obviously a "no".

Could you address this guy? He's practically asking the same question I asked about the wallet working in a live environment.

Today the team had a skype meeting and decided to choose the date for release of the new Client/Qt/Website/OP/Sig

This will be the
30/01/2017

This should give everyone time to prepare for the updates.

I've put together a small list of media outlets that we can send our announcement out to (Please add any I missed)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MxiFEm1gLI03baGmC7qXRhfRJYSoUtiAjftdr9pe8u8/edit?usp=sharing

I should be able to get your press release directly to a few good bitcoin journalists - just to name a few - Jamie Redman, news.bitcon , Kyle Torpey - bitcoinmagazine , Bitcoin Rush - Youtube show and few others.

In the first phase we can use my/our contact resources and afterwards you can consider some paid press release submission. - Coindesk, CCN etc.

If you are interested I´m able to contribute some time and efforts towards the press release distribution to the right hands..

Hey man, you promised you will help list Crown on a decentralized exchange - We have not heard from you since then, I am not sure if you mean this seriously  Wink
Well, I´m definitely ready to move this forward. As I mentioned I´m just waiting for the new code and website to be released.
Also the submission to wallet-generator is waiting just for the new code and website release - I will need the logo.

You can send me Slack invitation where we can discuss more details about everything where I can be heplful.

Well thanks for your effort, you seem to want to help us out Smiley

Can you send me your email, i'll get you added asap.

We do try to direct the conversation here rather than slack, slack is just too easy.

I think we can end the poll, looks like Crown Satoshi (cSat) takes it with 66%
We will also use Lucd88 suggestion for all the other denominations.

Thanks for everyone's input!

How does the client extrapolate block info from the other coins? Do you have a full node of each coin your tapped into? If so bitcoin has a chain size of over 50GB.. This will require a huge VPS and will cost quite alot. Will everyone be required to host a bitcoin blockchain when they run a service node? If not, where does the 'decentralisation' come in? Are service nodes even on your agenda anymore?

The spreadwallet communicates directly with other nodes through TCPSockets, using their protocol.
For example for bitcoin the protocol is described here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Protocol_documentation
You know, stuff like getaddr, getblock, getheaders, version, inv, etc....

All nodes, even SPV-wallets like androids use this protocol to communicate with other nodes.
It's just a matter of what command/message they send and if they are capable or willing to process the answer.

An SPV-wallet will never ask for full blocks from another node, because it just wouldn't have enough space to safe them, but theoretically it absolutely could.

...

Here is a screenshot showing how I currently save data that is received in SPV mode (basically by just asking getheaders from other full nodes, and other commands).

(getheaders return just the blockheaders. So the getheader_XXX.dat-files you see here are like a blockchain of just the blockheaders.)

All those coin's nodes are currently synced 100%.

It's interesting to see that SPR has by far the biggest size.

227 MByte.

Since SPR blockheaders are bigger than most other coins (most are 80 bytes, SPR is 185 bytes) and we are also a 1 min coin this adds up to 227 MByte,
also growing more rapidly than other coins.

Not that this is a problem, but just an interesting fact.

...

When spreadwallet connects with a local fullnode it doesn't need to save any extra data, it just asks that local node for everything.
I'm not using RPC or anything like that.
The spreadwallet is directly acting as a node itself so that it can communicate with the local (or external) full node through TCP.

Thanks for the response. georgem this is really cool stuff, why don't you open this up to get this out?

Just to clarify, this is not a full node. You said it could accept more than just block header, but as long as it only accepts block header it certainly isn't a full node. More of a thin wallet on the network mirroring actual full nodes.
Could this potentially be used as a full node? Maybe.
So does this mean Proof of bitoin node is off the table, or proof of anycoin node?

Also, you refer to using a local full node for the spreadwallet to reference, do you mean everyone wanting to host a spreadwallet will also need to host a full node for which ever coin is added? It's very confusing. All the old ideas seem to have been removed or changed significantly. If I was a potential investor I would see all this as a vanity project, as a patron I would only be giving you money to see what you can do, weather this is related to SPR or not.

Patreon is intended for content producers, which you do little of... Why would I donate?

There's so many issues around here with direction, development, agreement it's understandable that you would like to sell, even if you'r the developer.

Your reasoning for selling and switching to patreon is like a pane of glass, I see right through it. No one is suggesting that because they gave you 150,000 SPR you MUST do what they say, NO ONE. This just give's you the opportunity to spin a reason for selling your stack, as you know your closed walled system is either not doable in a real environment or it's years and years from coming to fruition.

There's literally nothing you can say to justify wanting to sell your coins. All the BS reasons for doing it are really pathetic mate.

Within 6 months you will talk your way out of releasing anything and walk away from the project blaming everyone else with your head held high.

Bullshit commence in 3... 2... 1....

Here's a short new update video about the current state of spreadwallet development.

I demonstrate the general behaviour of the explorer tabs, and a few of the commands that you can currently use.
You can type the block_nr, with or without coin name. Right now it will just show basic block-header-data. (More to come soon)
You can do a getaddr to ask a full node to inform you about the peers it knows (or has seen in the past. It will list the 100 most recent ones)
You can do a ping on any IP.
You can do a portcheck on an IP that will tell you which of the coins in your coin-list is running on that IP.

Stay tuned for more.  Smiley

Still working on the podcast (and a dozen other things), don't worry.  Wink

This does look cool, i'll give you that!

Is this only conceptual? Will this work in mainnet or only on your walled garden network?

I should be able to get your press release directly to a few good bitcoin journalists - just to name a few - Jamie Redman, news.bitcon , Kyle Torpey - bitcoinmagazine , Bitcoin Rush - Youtube show and few others.

In the first phase we can use my/our contact resources and afterwards you can consider some paid press release submission. - Coindesk, CCN etc.

If you are interested I´m able to contribute some time and efforts towards the press release distribution to the right hands..

Thanks bigmo, your a big help Smiley

The google doc is open to edit if you would like to add your contacts.

We can arrange a bounty if you can get this going.
