Take a look at the 365day chart on CoinMarketCap

I can see two head and shoulder patterns, one inside another.

Strange thing is, MrSpread seems to have left the community at the same time the chart shows the last shoulder.
Is that a coincidence?

If I was Mr. Spread and about to come back, after dumbfucks from the community publicly posted my IP and email I sure as hell wouldn't.

Good grief.

He's gone, ain't coming back.
Most likely bailed.

I'm still betting someone is going to release their version of MrSpreads code.
Testnet worked quite well. If we released the code as is, maybe it would attract more competent devs?

MrSpread is sneaky!   Cheesy

"It’s traditional for most people in China to go home to their families on Lunar New Year, which falls on Feb. 19 this year. China experiences a massive movement of people and gifts around the holiday, with an estimated 3.65 billion trips made during a 40-day period."

estimations are all good and well - and i really hope that that is what is happening and not any issues with health or family ...

but we wont know until we hear from him - so until then - we are still trading and working and having heaps of fun with Smiley ...

Has anyone experienced something similar in the early days of SPR? MrSpread up and leaving for a while?
Since I am an admin on Spreadcointalk I had a look at Mr. Spread's ip a few weeks ago and it was from China.

I'M BUYING AGAIN!!!

I'm not. Definitely not.

There's something quite disturbing and unsettling about how people follow these devs with such adoration and fanaticism, and then when the dev does something that in any normal realm would have them be virtually struck off as unreliable and untrustworthy (i.e. a job, a business, a normal project being executed with real face-to-face people), everyone comes up with all sorts of accommodative excuses.

I'm sorry but I think we all need to face up to a harsh truth here. He was last online here on BCT on February 16, 2015, 09:07:09 AM and on SCT on February 15, 2015, 12:42:30 AM. That's over 5 days now.

Whether Mr Spread is off celebrating Chinese New Year or he's on a beach somewhere having a break, it's completely and utterly unacceptable to leave people hanging like this, especially given the crypto realm's history of hacks and scams.

I am so sick of taking an interest in things like this that end up being (yet again) massive disappointments. Honestly, it's just complete BS and that we're now all speculating as to what's happened is testament to how silly we've let things get in this online world where normal rules of decency and accountability have just been trampled on (good grief, try explaining this to someone not involved in crypto - it can't be justified. I need to get away from this ridiculousness).

Either Mr Spread has bailed or he's had some calamitous thing happen and he's in hospital unable to logon to these forums, he's being held somewhere against his will, he's had a family tragedy and is completely focussed on that as a far higher priority (which it is) or he's dead.

Even if he comes back now to tell us he was away at Chinese NY celebrations, how can anyone possibly expect SPR to be taken seriously?

Not everyone is so "attached". I'm not writing him off just yet, there still could be a reasonable reason for his absence.

A lot of transfers 'not yet redeemed', hopefully is not (another) HDD crash and can't start-up his wallets.
Back ups?

We have given Mr. Spread enormous amounts of feedback during the test round 2.

I am sure it gave him a lot of ideas how he can improve and adjust the code for the next test round 3.

So relax and stay tuned.

We will hear from him shortly.

In the meantime, i see 1440 MN!

Looks like OCMiner might be claiming the $10 bounty for creating a public pool at some point  Wink

Lol $185 atm.

I had some inquiries for renting rigs @ MRR for my Pool ..

Currently due to the special implemenation it is not so easy, but you can rent the rigs directly over me if you're still interested.

Just message me how much MH/s you want and for what time and we'll find a way.

Pool is stil open, testing goes well, everything will be open sourced soon and I hope some more pools will follow.

Your open sourcing? Cool!

Is your implementation flawless? Will MrSpread be able to tweak SPR to protect against your type of implementation?

his pool has wide open holes in it. You would either have to completely trust him or be stupid enough to join blindly.

Actually, his pool has a small hole in it - hardly could be called a hole. That is, a very skilled reverse engineer could join and take apart the miner. You've no clue what you're on about.

Ok, so could MrSpread write some code to protect against this kind of pool?

Sounds pretty cool.

Is there an economic benefit to the MNs with the most SPR being elected?

Not sure if transaction locking works this way, but if i wanted to send 500SPR via IX, i would need a masternode with enough SPR to cover my IX.

Am i wrong?

If i'm correct then yes there is a economic benefit.
1074  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) | Testing New Masternodes on: February 17, 2015, 09:27:29 PM
Guys cheap spr at Bittrex!!!

When public pool up it will be better to mine so wait and mine instead of buy.  Everyone will have chance to mine not just big farm.

Its already public, just msg me which miners you need and i'll send them to you

What do you mean which miners? And I would be careful. Pools running SPR have the ability to steal your coins!

huh ? How should I steal the coins ? And why ? The pool is free, the miners are "standard-miners" like ccminer/sgminer and you can always watch your stats in the miner and at the pool i.e. found blocks etc. so there is very low danger of "pools stealing coins" .. lol Smiley

You can get hit by a car by walking over the street, you know ? Smiley

It's never been the worry that pools will steal your coins.

It's you keeping the coins you have mined.

How do you stop miners from keeping the coins they mine?

But for 2 BTC u can get 290x and compensate for lover hashrate and when the mining days of SPR is over u can use it for other coins Wink
Think big, is meant for those GPU farms with tens or hundreds of GPUs.

I'm mining over two days 2 x r9 280 not single block.  I see now because farms using optimized miner getting all the blocks.  Not even chance to get few coins on pool.  Wasted time mining just burn electricity.  I give up and stop mining.  This is big farm coin only.

LOL - not true - I mine from my little home with (10) 750ti's and hit blocks every day - my block range is somewhere between 4-8 blocks per day.

That is most 50 coins each day.  Its wasting time with 10 750ti.  Is that with optimize miner?  Looks ocminer setting up pool for maybe everyone to use.  Will wait and maybe mine when pool is ready.  How long for pool ocminer?

Pool?

Public or private?

Public, just finishing up some tests. Wanna mine ? Which miner would you need ?

Trustless?

How does this work?

I have 2x ASUS R9 280x and one GTX 860 and i get around 5.5 Mhs and in 8 days = 100 SPR (around 2-3 blocks per day) + luck (finding those blocks) + difficulty.

Are you mining on linux or windows ?

It shouldn't matter much.

It matters for me as I'm seeking for some testers...  (and I cannot get Win sgminer compiled correctly currently)

Oh, I see.
I was mining on both and since linux nvidia drivers a well behind windows i was getting only 1200 khs and on windows 1500 khs with gtx 860, but i wasn't trying to mine on linux with 280x. CPU mining is also better on windows for 40 khs and i have i7-4710HQ

40kh/s? You should be able to get better than that - even on a mobile CPU. My desktop CPU gets 300kh/s+ on SPR with the stock in-wallet miner.
Well Wolf0 i get 55-65 khs on linux and on windows 90-100 khs with 7 cores (not using 8 )
Do u use Xeon to get 300+?

No, it's my desktop - i7-5930K, overclocked.
Really, i see u know how to handle your hardware. I wonder if i could overclock mine since my mobile is using 2 fans one for cpu and one for gpu. (btw the mobile still has 7 months warranty left so....) Wink

Most laptops have locked CPUs and no OC options in the BIOS - however, if you know the specific chip your motherboard uses, you can use a program like SetFSB to clock it a bit higher.

I'm running my i7-5930K at 4.65Ghz (IIRC), and DDR4-2666 OC'd to DDR4-3000.

I'm jelly
1079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) | Testing New Masternodes on: February 16, 2015, 06:05:43 PM
After seeing just how much wolf0 was able to optimize the CPU I realized just how much a few miners with properly optimized code could dominate.  And if I was:
1.  Someone who only care about definite profit, I could get such a miner and dump for more than it costs me to mine.
2.  If I was a competing coin, I could keep the price of the coin deflated.

I think whoever can "steal" electricity (i.e.: free electricity) can do more damage than optimized miner. Every Sat is profit.

Not if the unadulterated miner is several, likely dozens of times more efficient.

While people have the ability to do these things, it does go against the grain. Avoiding pools on the one hand, having optimized miners take advantage of the solo miners on the other.

Why is this only a problem for SPR?

Couldn't I optimize my mining software to mine DRK more efficiently, then take my new miner to a pool and mine DRK?

Thx
