181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: cruel level of addiction, causing harms and still keeping it up on: March 26, 2024, 09:36:38 PM

It's pretty close to a mental illness really and well, you don't question the why of mental illnesses at some point. It just happens. Well for the most part though, some people may really have some "justifiable" reason for them to continue on with gambling but we'd probably never understand or relate to it since from our pov, it'd probably seem really dumb or something but for them? It'd probably be pretty important. Who knows, there might even be the influence of drugs which makes it 100% a mental illness.

And in addition, being used to something kind of just turns off your brain. Like it refuses to understand that you can't anymore but since you were able to for the past year without any problems, you'd think you're still able to.
182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upon the death of a bitcoin user. on: March 26, 2024, 09:05:08 PM

Wait, don't banks usually just keep holding on to the money or put it towards some sort of unclaimed fund so that they can keep track of it? And only after a specific couple of years could they release it not towards their employees but instead towards charities and whatnot? Employees taking it is... idk, just sounds bs. Banks ain't that unregulated after all.

Anyway, on the Bitcoin thing, just leave a will. Create or find a method where your keys/phrases are revealed to your family when you pass away. Maybe leave it in an encrypted file inside your PC or something and add info about it to your will (that's like the most basic one afaik, not really anything that secure).
183  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who can you trust more to handle your business, man or woman? on: March 26, 2024, 08:42:43 PM
~
Anyone who's more skilled and has the common sense of well, a human. The former is nothing new, it's something businesses usually consider. The latter is, well, with how a lot of people seems to have this weird (and that's putting it lightly) mindset about cultures and whatnot, I fear that letting them take over my business, whatever it may be will be the death of me. Ofc there are some jobs that men do better and women do better so it might vary as well based on that, but that's based on skillset really instead of gender.

If you really wanted to push this question, maybe describe the job and it's responsibilities?
184  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: getting past break even on: March 25, 2024, 10:00:53 PM
I don't think it's anything odd that you're struggling to go above 50%, most traders do afaik. I'd say you'd only profit properly if you took some risks and went past that 1:! ratio. Anyway if it was that easy then a lot of people would've still kept trading and profiting to this day, even I would have. But no, it really isn't that easy lol. As for bots well, they're bots for a reason. They don't have the same flexibility as humans do nor can you actually put said flexibility into it in the first place. It's only good for some specific periods.

~
What's a pinescript code? I have heard it this time and despite that I am not the greatest trader here but with that term you've mentioned got me curious on what you really trying to do. But if you're trying to beat the market, you can't beat it and that's why you have to be with it and just do what's necessary as an action and keep on testing strategies that will make you profitable and what's more comfortable to you in doing. Not all of them are going to be green days but somehow it is going to be with your few more tests.
Should be something used for scripting bots used in trading. Not sure how it works I just know of it but I've never used it.
185  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are crash games profitable??? on: March 25, 2024, 09:18:52 PM
~
Jesus I was so confused since it was my first time seeing crash described as an "aviator" game so I was really confused lol. Anyhow, it's the same reason why people pay for games when there's similar titles but free. For enjoyment! At least that's the case for me. Crash is something I really love. It was mostly about how the games, or well the UI design played out during the games. There was just something unexplainable about how I enjoy it, but I just enjoy it.

The idea of being an addict, is not about the activity, it's about you. People can get addicted to something else other than gambling after all. Be disciplined is something you do in general with anything you do, while staking what you can afford is something specific for gambling. See the idea that people can already differentiate (or at least identify) tips for both general and specific side of addiction?
186  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Becomes of Gambling if Sport book is taken away. on: March 25, 2024, 09:06:05 PM
~
Erm yea, there's always going to be some illegal section that's going to host it back up so I don't think it's much of an issue. They may even forego KYC altogether since countries are already stating them as illegal, freeing them up from responsibilities to the country lol. If they ever really want to ban or remove gambling in a particular sport, they have to remove that specific sport. Otherwise, illegal methods would simply rise up.

But yea, if we were to consider the status of current casinos with bookies then they'd definitely lose a chunk of their users. Numbers are kind of impossible to describe since I don't have the specific stats about it but it would probably be at least 10%, definitely more if not just football was banned but sports gambling entirely.
187  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does number of traders affect volatility? on: March 24, 2024, 10:52:19 PM
~
I'd consider it as one factor since there are probably a lot of factors involved with how volatility changes such as liquidity. Suppose you were to rank which factor is involved the most. In that case, it'd be pretty hard to describe since even if a number of traders were to enter the market, without a significant amount of holding of that specific coin they aren't really going to make any waves. It'd be different for huge traders in the scene though.

And I believe trading would always be difficult regardless of the number of traders.
188  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 190K in 2024? on: March 24, 2024, 09:33:15 PM
~
Too generous. Even if we do go past 100k for the next period, I reckon it won't go past 150k. The increments in which the market grows get smaller and smaller every time it happens imo, so I don't think it's realistic to expect 190k in a year. Well if you consider how there's a lot of other predictions higher than that then I guess it looks pretty normal but well, price doesn't change based on how high peoples predictions are.

As for selling, well, I'll sell when I want to. I'd probably take a profit at $100k or something then wait a couple of months before investing again but hey, things change so who knows.
189  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can we still truly achieve anonymous gambling in crypto? on: March 24, 2024, 09:13:44 PM
~
I don't think it's impossible but if you start considering some other things, like a casino being a type of business, it doesn't seem to be that possible anymore. Regulations exist and if you want to serve people in that certain jurisdiction, you have to adopt their laws at some level. Even if you ignore those groups of people, at some point you'd inevitably lose all your users due to all the geo-blocking that countries do.

Not to mention that well, a lot of people would much rather prefer convenience and assurance that the casino they play in is secure and legal than their privacy. A casino that doesn't ask for KYC would most likely adopt it sooner or later so nothing's really that different from a casino that started with KYC in the first place.
190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe is saving screenshots of useful information and BTC transactions? on: March 24, 2024, 08:47:44 PM
Well as long as his seed phrase isn't saved or is properly encrypted and SCs only included details, then I don't think it's that much of an issue. I myself do it sometimes after all. Now for the issue of others knowing and him losing his privacy, it depends on what type of SC's he saves. The most I'd assume is just transaction details (without the private details included) but if there is some part to it like that that he saves, yeah it isn't really safe then. In those cases, you can try telling him to separate the two types? Like moving images with private details towards a PC and encrypting it (or in the phone as well if needed). A lot more work but hey, a lot safer as well than just leaving them be.

You can try sending him some YT videos that talk about privacy issues. I mean he learned Bitcoin through it so I reckon it's something he'd watch and learn properly from.
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Always check the deposit address on: March 24, 2024, 10:11:55 AM
~
It's not just for gambling really, any transaction you do you should always double or triple-check the addresses that you send to. Most transactions especially if they're not centralized wouldn't be returned after all so submitting a ticket would be pretty damn useless. In OPs case it seems like everything worked out well since the casino controls their own local network of wallets but if it wasn't, then I'd say you wouldn't have been able to recover the funds.

Kinda weird though since afaik, they should update you whenever such things change, if they ever do (which afaik shouldn't).
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling until you go totally broke on: March 24, 2024, 05:33:16 AM
But then, this got me wondering why a full grown person will gamble until he or she has no money left in his or her bank account, and no cash at hand, I personally have on several occasions gambled away every single cash I had at hand, but I always had some money in the bank to fall back on, together with my family.

I am just wondering if anyone here have ever been in a similar situation before? That is, gambling until you are completely broke with nothing to fall back on?
No money in the bank, no cash in the hand, what did you do?

Or maybe gambled until you are one bet away from going broke (if you lose), do you go ahead and risk the money, or cancel the bet and  keep that money for something more important?
I wonder the same. I dunno, it might just be a difference in mindset when growing up? I for one can not calm down at all whenever I've got no money left to spend for even a day. So the fact that they can readily spend money they're supposed to use for the month (or even week) is kind of baffling really.

I guess it just shows how they're used to that, or had always had a backup plan of sorts whenever such things happen. I do have someone to fall back to whenever an emergency comes up and I need money direly, but I've never really considered the idea of reaching out to them outside of emergencies and well, spending all my money to gamble doesn't really count as one in my book.
193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your take? on: March 24, 2024, 01:01:12 AM
~
I usually put odds on the lower end of the scale when determining which team I want to bet. Heck, I usually make a decision prior to even looking at the odds on a bookmaker really. It might change my decision if the odds were THAT different from what I expected but other than those extreme cases, I usually just go for whichever team I really like and/or feel that would win.

When deciding based on odds though, I think a lot of others would probably prefer the team with the higher winning chances, aka the one with the lower odds. Still up to the person really depending on how well they know the team. Who knows, a team may have high odds but that person just has that belief that they'd do well because they have X player or Y player returned after a long break or something.
194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Decentralized vs Centralized Gambling....Which do you prefer? on: March 23, 2024, 03:45:20 AM
~
I'd say people care more about the reputation of the casino themselves and pretty much most of your average gamblers are pretty far into the KYC thing so I don't think gambling dApps have that much of an allure to them. At most, it'd be pretty equal with regular crypto at casinos and at that point, you'd mostly rely on their reputation to see which of the two types is better of which I'd assume centralized casinos would be voted above the other by quite the margin.

Ofc that's only at this point in time. Things might change really, especially if you consider how dApps can be the alternative for players in countries where gambling is banned/illegal.
195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Feelings on losing the match and the bet on: March 23, 2024, 12:12:32 AM
~
Naturally lol. It's not even a matter of the bet being lost since in the first place the bet can be said to only be a sub part kind of thing only (if I described that right). The result matters the most naturally. It's also the same reason why I still feel the excitement if a match was a really good one even if the team I bet on lost because well, the match was that just good so you just can't help buy feel that they got a well-deserved win. I wouldn't describe it as "everything going wrong" though. Kind of over the top right there.
196  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Should trades be closed only when the market is bullish? on: March 22, 2024, 12:08:05 PM
Periods like what we're experiencing right now should always be taken advantage of by people who trade since there are a lot more opportunities to profit due to the shorter time frame that the market does to jump from low to high and high to low. A lot harder when it's sideways since there are fewer opportunities to take profit from a trade. Wouldn't recommend it naturally if you're a bad trader though. Regardless of it being an opportunity, you still need to know how to take advantage of it (which I haven't when I tried in the past).
197  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bothered about every DIP? It's just a mental check. on: March 21, 2024, 09:38:15 PM
~
It was just any other day in the crypto market really lol. I guess a lot more people were simply impacted because of, well, the market going past ATH. If you've been in the market for the past decade heck, even the past couple of years you'd know this is something of the usual.

Well, wouldn't also blame late investors. It is kind of scary to see what you just bought at the peak dropdown after a couple of days but yea, rather than losing it permanently just wait a bit and see what happens. You're already at a loss anyway, might as well go all the way.
198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your worst nightmare in a casino? on: March 21, 2024, 09:10:33 PM
~
When their shitty ass support system suddenly starts asking questions yet takes frigging forever to answer. I'm not afraid of being investigated (I mean, I already applied to their KYC lol), I'm afraid of there having been no progress in terms of the investigation.

After that, the next fear is them using their random bs rules to take my money. I mean I sure as well would not be dumb enough to not know their rules so I'm not really scared prior to that, but they do have a clause that they can do whatever the hell they want if they found something suspicious and well, even though I'm confident there's nothing they can find from my transactions or documents, it doesn't change the fact that the final verdict lies on them.
199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake and Bruno Mars An Example of How Gambling Addiction Can Affect Anyone on: March 20, 2024, 10:01:44 PM
~
True it can affect everyone, but it doesn't mean just anyone can bounce back from it. The guys you said could easily pay these stuff out really. It's easy to understand once you recognize the fact that casinos allowed them to take loans. A casino would never allow someone to take a loan if they know the person can't pay for it. Bruno Mars can (at least afaik). I reckon he has several lands or houses under his name that can easily pay this out or something.

As for Drake, well, same thing but a lot more transparent. Pretty sure we've all heard of him more than once or twice in the past year after all. While they may take a hit, it's pretty much just a temporary thing for these rich people.
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it safe to use Telegram bot for trading ? on: March 20, 2024, 09:14:41 PM
If it's not open source or not from a trusted big company, I don't trust any bots. Telegram is known to be a hole filled with scammers so I generally wouldn't trust anything you'd find there till proven otherwise. If you have the spare money to test it out, then yea sure go ahead. If not then don't even bother really, just go on your way. If you really wanted a bot then hire someone to help you develop it. Might cost more but at least it's made specifically for your specifications.

I'm a dev myself so whenever I need one I just make one tbf so I'm pretty lucky with that.
