1021  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are your bitcoin May/June price analysis? on: June 02, 2023, 01:57:25 PM
Ehh, I don't really think we'd be getting anything big for the next 1-2 months. At most, we'd probably go to $30k then just go the usual steady stuff that we have right now, maybe dipping back to 28, 29k every now and then. At least just based on any significant news that I know of, there's nothing that particularly concerns the crypto market, or nothing that would affect it on a big scale. Might be more active in maybe in the latter end of the year? Hopefully not in a negative way.
1022  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you use a VPN on a casino, even if it is not allowed in their ToS? on: June 02, 2023, 12:21:04 AM
I know this is a bit controversial, but some casinos are looking the other way... when people are using VPNs. I know it might be legal in some instances, but you are still taking a risk by using it.

Online gambling is legal in my country, but sometimes I have to travel to a country where it is illegal. I then use a VPN to be able to access the site. This is one of the reasons why some casinos allow people to use VPNs..... but you are still taking a huge risk.

Now, the question is.... Will you still use a VPN, if it is not allowed by the ToS on the site. What will you do if they "block" your account and take your balance?
Uhm no? Why would I force myself to play when there's other possible options I can play on? If there wasn't, well as much as I say gambling is for enjoyment it does involve money so nah, I'm fine with not playing. If it were for free though, like what I do to access some specific beta test of some games, then hell yea I'd do it.

Imo it isn't really controversial, it's just kind ass how some casinos change their ToS to suddenly rejecting VPN, or somehow flagging you for multi accounting, which can happen due to how VPN works afaik when in the first place THEY should know how VPN works. Well that is if VPN is allowed in the first place. If it wasn't, then yea I really don't think I would or even risk it.
1023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to draw the attention of the market if you're a good project?? on: June 01, 2023, 02:44:36 PM
We're proudly to announce that we're officially looking for early contributors to our project.

We've spent almost a year just to design the super economic ecosystem of FireDAO. And now it's finally floating to the surface and ready to show the world what is FireDAO.

As a new project, we're sincerely looking for advice from Bitcointalk Forum community. What is the key of point that you're looking in a project and let us know how to improve better as well.

Please read more information about our project in the link below. Looking forward for more interaction here.  Wink
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5441307.msg62316116#msg62316116
Well... What you're doing is a good start for one. Asking for advice from your users (or even strangers really) isn't really going to hurt you, you just got to filter out proper advice from, well, dumb ones. It at least opens up your project as community friendly and pretty open as well. Other than that, well, it should depend on what your project aims to actually be since improvements will come from understanding what it wants, and where it is right now.

Priority for now might be to complete your team first then do some internal review. I highly doubt investors would come if the team itself isn't exactly developed/complete, regardless of how minor some of the other roles could possibly be.
1024  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do we just invest in any altcoin? on: June 01, 2023, 06:43:59 AM
Now my question is, do we just invest an altcoin to take advantage of the opportunity to make some x in return?
Because I know altcoin rarely survive the dip maybe after bull run.

I mean, you can. Most altcoins are short lived anyway, you're better off trying to profit off of them at a say a month or two max, anything longer would just give diminishing returns, well at least for most coins, but hey if they really were good, it wouldn't be too late to invest on it again after at least guaranteeing that you've profited.

I definitely would avoid investing in altcoins for the long term though. I'd only ever know if it was a good investment for one in the future, and judging by the number of new altcoins, I wouldn't really take my chances.
1025  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Behavioural signs that suggest you are Addicted to Gambling on: May 31, 2023, 10:55:53 PM
As gambling addiction can be a challenging issue that can have a very harmful impact on an individual's life. it is always recommended to find a professional helpb rather struggling with it. Do you agree with those behaviours? If not then you can suggest some, that can be added to this topic.
It's actually pretty easy to notice if someone's going past the limits or is being addicted, some simple stuff that you'd often do as a kid, like asking nonchalantly for money, being impulsive, lying, stuff like that. It's like your attitude turns into a brat once a certain activity, in this case gambling comes up. I basically told myself when making decisions to grow up so as to avoid doing dumb stuff.

The simple idea of only depositing once per session, with a fixed amount every time should fix most of the problems imo. It's my method at least of putting in money I'd use to gamble anw.

1026  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not a steady income haven on: May 31, 2023, 10:03:33 PM
Gambling places are not for steady income, if you want steady income with gambling, online or offline, you have to be a owner, build your own casino and watch yourself growing up into a filthy rich billionaire.
...because it's not supposed to be a source in the first place? Casinos can be likened to cafes, restaurants, pitching places, golf courses, etc. They all COST money, and they return something called "enjoyment".

Now it varies from place to place but gambling returns said enjoyment as money, but said return is also involved in a process, so it isn't actually a guarantee return. More like a bonus so to speak, because the games are oversimplified to the point where without the thrill of winning something, in this case money, there'd be no point in actually playing.
1027  Economy / Gambling / Re: is KYC data on Gambling sites safe? on: May 31, 2023, 04:49:09 AM
Are you one of those who agree or refuse to fill out kyc on gambling sites? So far, the Kyc that you have filled in on the gambling site is safe? I've never had a problem with the Kyc that I filled out at the gambling site. Have you ever felt cheated from Kyc submitted?
Who knows. I handle data within my company and I know myself that it isn't 100 safe from being exposed, I reckon gambling companies are the same as well. I've rarely played on casinos nowadays but back then I really didn't mind KYC, I don't think I still do really (If preferable then no kyc ofc). I've never felt cheated though.

That dosnt mean I don't care though. Is why I mostly play on casinos that are well known. Their rep is pretty much the only basis I can use after all.
1028  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which New Technology will be adopted by the Gambling Industry? on: May 31, 2023, 12:08:04 AM
VR/AR Casinos:

AI:
What do you guys think?
Ehh I guess AR/VR can come in handy at some point, but I reckon it only caters to a niche audience? I mean it is a nice add-on for those who want it, but I'd say those are in the minority so I highly doubt they'd want to implement it just based on the minority.

AIs, well, they can serve as the host, maybe even an opponent. Or maybe just generate a random zero sum game with each instance if possible. I'd bet on it being an opponent though, just to see whether math can feat over luck.
1029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin Lost it's Fervor for Percentage Gains? on: May 30, 2023, 12:08:44 PM
People seem to have become millionaires in previous bull cycles with modest investments in BTC & ETH.  If I invested in 1 BTC, is it enough to make me a millionaire by the next bull run, or are there an elite number of alt coins that could help me safely achieve what BTC & ETH once did?
First, it wasn't "safe" for you to become a millionaire back then. It seems safe compared to now because we KNOW what's going to happen already, so don't be dumb enough to assume that that's always the case. Second, it seemed like "modest" investments now, but with the same logic as the first, it only seemed like it. I mean, would it seem modest to invest thousands of dollars on an unknown currency that popped up all of a sudden without any company backing it?

Any altcoin could potentially give you big profit, the margin of growth in new coins is a lot bigger in comparison to old coins after all, but at the same time, just like when Bitcoin was new, the risk is comparatively higher compared to well-known ones. As for Bitcoin making you a millionaire, who knows? It may be a modest growth, or maybe even none at all. I'd suggest just doing DCA though instead if possible.
1030  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you handle long shot bets? on: May 30, 2023, 06:59:16 AM
See that's the thing, you're supposed to stop thinking about your bankroll altogether when you deposit money. Whatever money I deposit in casinos, I consider spent/lost already. I don't actively try to make it bigger or even withdraw it really, it just stays there. If leftovers were left due to being lucky and winning, then I subtract that amount to my usual deposit amount instead.

I would've probably withdrawn in a big win instance, sadly I've yet to experience one so it's just one big money sink, which I'm aware of ofc and I accept it. It's the expense for having fun imo.
1031  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Allow To Undergo Hypnosis If A Professional Recommend To Cure Gambling on: May 30, 2023, 12:56:54 AM
If I was addicted, then maybe. Just that I doubt the efficiency of "hypnosis" in actually treating it. Also doesn't help how I've never seen hypnosis being used as a treatment, or how it works even. This is me thinking rationally though, and I dont think you'd consider addicts as rational beings, otherwise addiction would've never gotten the best of them.

I'd probably just outright deny I was addicted. Or even if I did admit it, I'd choose alternatives first since hypnosis seems like it'd make me forget about gambling altogether,  unlike fixing the core problem instead which would still let me gamble, albeit more lightly.
1032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in altcoins is a hedge over Bitcoin how true is this? on: May 29, 2023, 01:04:30 PM
I don't think people don't expect alts to follow when Bitcoin crashes, more like there's more room for profit in altcoins than Bitcoin. We may say that the crypto market is highly volatile, but Bitcoin isn't really that volatile compared to what it was in the past, or what other altcoins can grow into. A 1000% chance of growth is something pretty unrealistic that we'd probably never get to see again in the Bitcoin market, but it isn't exactly impossible with alts, with how some meme coins are even able to get said numbers.

I also highly doubt we'd ever see investors grow doubtful of crypto, since by the time that that's possible, it would've grown to what it was actually intended to be, a currency.

1033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why India has been always against Disruptive Technologies? on: May 29, 2023, 04:55:14 AM
Well at the very least, they didn't outright stop the development from, well, developing. They may have delayed it but that might simply be because of cultural factors or something.

The best a community can do is to push the idea forward to make them notice about it. The info they'd get? They're the ones who's going to collect that. So the decision of whether your government would adopt new technologies would still rely on them.
1034  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crazy Sports Betting Idea on: May 29, 2023, 12:47:22 AM
At least sport bettors should have the pleasure of making these kind of bets too. I know it sounds crazy but that's what has been on my mind. Do you think it is feasible? Do you think sports bookies will incorporate this type of betting?
But it's not sports? I reckon local small casinos wouldnt mind if you set it up yourself (together with payments which they won't deal with most likely) but I hardly doubt its going to be an official thing. Ever. It's also grounds for a lot of possible manipulation. I'm rather curious how this popped to your mind since I never considered betting about these kind of stuff in the first place.

And tbf, rather than this, I'd much rather bet on player transfers instead.
1035  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An Intriguing article: How to Perfect Your Gambling Strategy on: May 28, 2023, 02:05:08 PM
So what do you think about the list of instructions stated by the article, are they good enough to keep a person to have an edge against the gambling platform?
To be fair, the last few are just what you need, mainly the ones that talk about spending only what you can lose, accepting losses, and stuff like that. The rest? Just there to make it seem like you can actually beat the system, which you can't. Well, you technically can, IF you were lucky, but who the hell can give you the guarantee that you are? But well, it is what it is, that's just how human mentality goes, especially in unexplained factors which involve luck.
Shouldn't gambling be fun for the players, and on the other hand, profit for the owners? The majority who approach gambling (and by that I mean casino games) in such a way that they want to beat the house will not succeed regardless of the strategy.

This is the right way but most of the gamblers especially on crypto casino is so greedy on profit due to the too much exposure on risk. Either on crypto volatility trding or gambling. Gambling should be done for fun but many of us use this as source of profit. Even I sometimes become greedy when I’m already soaked in the game even though my main purpose at start is just to have fun.
Ehh I mean, that's how I think. That's how you guys think. I don't reckon a lot of people think the same way as us do though. If they do, well then their actions don't match, and sad to say, actions speak louder. I mean I get it some games can have a "competitive edge" to it, but I don't think said edge involves fighting the company behind the game to win. Sadly a lot of people just don't get that.
1036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ideas to get my project infront of investors? on: May 28, 2023, 06:21:11 AM
How can I effectively attract investors to support my to build user-friendly investment platform tailored for new and starting investors, and promote the adoption of the community token $PIGSBY?

I'm already active on telegram and twitter and other social media channels, i've got hundreds of people want to promote my project on twitter and telegram, shilling, raiding and that kinda activity.
This is not what i want, i'm already researching airdrops / giveaways / launchpads and so on. We already launched last week and waiting on etherscan.io to update our info.

Do you guys have any ideas for me how te make my project known to the public and investors?
Please check my website and let me know what you think about that to. That would be great!

I hope to hear some feedback of you guys!

Kind Regards,
Sebastian "GreatPigsby"
Define investors? if you mean bigwig investors then you're projects need to have something, and in most cases, a really big thing if you wanted some semblance of a big investment. Otherwise, it's never going to appeal to them. If it wasn't and you're fine with small-time investors, it's time that you'd need more than anything else. I mean you already have a community as you've said, and they're actively trying to spread the word about your project so I guess it's fine on that side. So really, take your time. If it really has something on it, then investors will come along as you go. The speed depends on the marketing you're community spreads it though.
1037  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Ivan Toney's Case and You on: May 28, 2023, 02:35:41 AM
Latest news headline on different news outlets
Quote
Ivan Toney placed 13 historical bets on his own club to lose and has been diagnosed with a gambling addiction, as the written reasons for his eight-month ban were revealed by the FA.
https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12889780/ivan-toney-brentford-striker-diagnosed-with-gambling-addiction-as-fa-release-written-reasons-into-eight-month-ban

The consequence of betting addiction are so huge that it not only affects the individual but also impacts everything around them. Besides having a bad reputation, and facing ban, Ivan's career is already over.  Although there are critics of the ban by the FA, in my opinion, it doesn't hold any water. The deed has been done, and even if they overturn their judgement one thing is sure; he has a gambling problem. It is already out there and will be there forever.

As you are reading this, it's quite common for many of us to have a friend or family member similar to Ivan. How did you become aware that your friend is struggling with gambling addiction, and what actions have you taken to help them to over it?
To be fair, the gambling was actually fine, the dumb thing was betting on his own club. Now that's dumb. Afaik player contracts don't allow them to bet on ANY of their matches at the very least, maybe even in the competition that they're in. I'm surprised it wasn't a complete ban even, just an 8 month one. Now I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't get another case, which means he had a pretty good therapy, if he ever did have one.

I've never had a friend become an addict, well at least not yet. And I honestly don't think any action I do can do anything to help. I'd just be a hypocrite if it ever did happen really. I firmly believe addiction has no cure, you just, well, put it on another thing, which is the best-case solution in most cases.
1038  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: As a Gambler and a Die-Hard Fan of a Club Would you Bet Against your Club on: May 27, 2023, 05:34:30 PM
We are fans of different football clubs, and whenever there is football banter, we never fail to take sides with our respective clubs. We stand by them no matter what because that's what being a fan of a football club is all about - unwavering loyalty. However, not all of our favorite clubs perform well. A typical case study is Chelsea, who have had one of their worst performances this season, currently occupying the 11th position. The challenges they have faced this season are unlike any other. Just last night, they were brutally defeated by Manchester United, who showed them no mercy, to the extent that they didn't even celebrate one of their goals.

As a gambler and a die-hard fan of a club that has been having a terrible season, would you bet against your club, knowing that their loss would be your financial gain? Or would you stay loyal and not bet against them?
Not a club, I watch football but I don't really root for any clubs so can't speak for that, but if I were to liken it to teams for eSports, then yes absolutely. I was a pretty big brain-dead fan in the past though, I pretty much thought SKT dominated the League eSports, and I was rooting for PSG LGD in Ti 6 and 7. OGs cinderella comeback made me rethink my decisions when it comes to rooting for teams, since that showed how a team with nothing and no one rooting for it can actually be a dark horse.

Still, didn't exactly push me to make risky decisions and root for teams, my favorite one included, just because I like it., in fact made me realize that I should assume that the favored team would guaranteed to be a win. Better to remove any bias and just judge based on what they showed for that certain tournament.
1039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will you invest in a project that might take years to outshine the market?? on: May 27, 2023, 12:59:05 PM
I found out in the blockchain world, many people are losing patience when they start to invest in a project. Their understanding about "long term" is no longer years but weeks.

Some project need time to build and shape. What do you think?
True, but they want at least something in the initial stages. A foundation so to speak. If said foundation is so weak it was basically nonexistent, I wouldn't blame investors for trying to avoid the said project. I do understand how some people look at "long term" being weeks or months, it's exactly how newbie investors see Bitcoin, kind of unfortunate really. I also wouldn't blame them, that's how I looked at Bitcoin as well initially.

On the other hand some projects just pop off all of a sudden and investors come flooding in. That's the moment where they should have released the project, not before. It may be due to lack of funds but hey, investors aren't exactly charity.
1040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to altcoins ? on: May 27, 2023, 07:56:13 AM

Well, I bought some fractions of Bitcoin at the price of $30K, ETH at $2,100 but unfortunately they have been going downward since then. The bearish trend in the whole market is still prevailing, which greatly impacts on coin prices. Despite the bear market, Bitcoin is still holding on its ground with its price not fluctuating over the top. However, the altcoins are becoming more volatile than before and I begin to doubt whether investing in altcoins is a wise choice. Did you invest in altcoins ? What do you think of the current altcoin market ? Please let me know.
Well what did you assume? That the market would go up when you bought your coins? Wishful thinking then. Bitcoin is still down from a few weeks ago but in comparison to months ago, it's in a better place so no worries there, just bide your time with it. For altcoins I tend to never really hodl them for a long term, that's just going to really make you lose out imo in most cases (some cases investing on an altcoin for a year or two can bring out a lot). ETH is still looking pretty good I think, looking at the chart you clearly bought both coins at it's peak, meaning when it was rising up. Buy when it's going down, not the other way around. Buying when the price is going up is a quick ticket to losing money in the obvious short term imo.
